What if a horror movie did more than scare you—it opened a door? In this deeply personal and chilling episode, a listener shares how watching The Grudge at age 14 triggered a spiral of overwhelming anxiety, shadow figures, and demonic oppression that seemed to attach itself to her and her family. From sleepless nights and terrifying hallucinations to a dark entity crawling toward her on the bedroom floor, this experience grew darker and more intense—until divine intervention showed up in the most unexpected place: a fast-food restaurant. What starts as a quiet late-night drive through Chico State turns into a mind-bending encounter with a vanishing shadow figure that leaves two college roommates speechless. But the unease doesn't end there. Years earlier, a mother experiences a horrifying visit from a weeping woman who appears inside a bedroom crying for her children, while others in the house hear the same voice coming from opposite ends of the home. Is it a spirit torn by grief… or something more sinister? Two generations. Two ghost stories. One chilling truth: sometimes, the dead don't stay quiet. This week are talking about By the Grave of Gods Season 2 as recommended by Jeb. And this week it was a nice revisit for us and a break for what we have been watching. The show is overall was solid and picked up right where season 1 left off so if you are watching the series all together at the same time. That being said the story was pretty straight forward no surprises or anything like but we did have some questions that we know we will never get answers to but still it was fun to think about. All in all though we found the story solid enough but it was not with out it's flaws but even with that they are not that big and can be over looked.Next Week's Pick: "Aharen is Indecipherable"Have you had the chance to watch By the Grave of Gods Season 2 or any of our previous selections? In this teaching, Pastor Shola Okodugha explores how faith serves as the bridge between what you see in the spirit and what you experience in the natural (Hebrews 11:1). He teaches that hope is born through vision, and vision is birthed in the place of prayer. But it doesn't stop there - hope transforms into faith when action is involved.Additionally, faith is a process that cannot be skipped. It's not just confidence in God, but complete trust, obedience, and conviction grounded in His Word (Romans 12:3).Components of Faith:-Believe what God has said-Speak it boldly-Act on it without hesitationAlso, he indicated that Prophecies don't fulfill themselves. You must mix them with faith.(Hebrews 3:15 -19, Joshua 1:1 - 5)To truly believe means to be convinced, and that conviction comes from: -Immersing yourself in God's Word-Hearing faith-building testimonies-Choosing obedience over assumption (Titus 1:16 TPT)ABOUT THE NEWWe are a people of love and excellence who are result-oriented, spirit-led, word-rooted, prayer-driven, and kingdom-conscious. What started as an eerie movie night turned into months of oppressive darkness, gory dreams, and the terrifying sensation of being watched by something lurking in her bedroom. When a shadowy figure in a top hat appeared and panic attacks began to escalate, her mother turned to a powerful Catholic ritual for help—a novena. The results were immediate. But was this truly the end of the entity's grip, or just the beginning of a lifetime of experiences with the unexplained? She thought nothing of her parents' eccentric collection—until the activity began. Faucets turned on by themselves, knocks echoed through walls, and a terrifying ghost-writing session ended with doors opening and closing on their own. As her parents' divorce unfolded and tension filled the home, the paranormal activity only intensified. While driving to work one quiet October morning in rural Virginia, a listener notices what looks like a discarded Halloween decoration on the side of the road. But this hunched, goblin-like figure suddenly moves—and stares back. As she watches in stunned disbelief, the creature shifts and transforms… into a deer. At least, that's what it looks like now. Hours later, the memory of the encounter rushes back, and she learns about an Appalachian cryptid known as “Not a Deer”—a creature that mimics the appearance of wildlife but isn't quite right. What started as a playful energy experiment during a dinner party turned into a chilling encounter no one expected. After jokingly mimicking a spiritual exercise from a show about energy, a group of friends set something in motion—something that didn't want to leave. Dogs began reacting violently. Strange dreams turned disturbingly real. A woman's voice left an unexplained voicemail. And one by one, two friends experienced the same ghostly visitor: an old woman who only wanted “to be here in the night.” If you have a Grave Confession, Call it in 24/7 at 1-888-GHOST-13 (1-888-446-7813) Subscribe to get all of our true ghost stories EVERY DAY! A mother shares the deeply personal story of her two daughters: one who receives visits from a spirit in her dreams, and another who began reading cards with uncanny accuracy—starting not with Tarot, but with a simple deck of playing cards. As her older daughter's abilities grow stronger, she uncovers unsettlingly accurate medical insights and even messages from beyond. With a blend of wonder, fear, and maternal protectiveness, this mother walks the line between pride and concern, questioning the weight her daughters must carry—and where their extraordinary gifts might ultimately lead. Bradley John Murdoch was convicted of Falconio’s murder in December 2005 and sentenced to life in prison. Now, there’s been a significant development. Murdoch died of throat cancer on July 15, 2025, at the age of 67. He had been diagnosed with the terminal illness in 2019 and was released from Alice Springs Correctional Centre last month to receive palliative care at Alice Springs Hospital. Chillingly, his death came just one day after the 24th anniversary of Falconio’s murder. Despite years of investigation and repeated appeals from police, Murdoch never disclosed the location of Peter Falconio’s remains. His body has never been found. In this episode, originally published in 2021, Jessie Stephens speaks with former Detective Superintendent Colleen Gwynne — the lead investigator into Peter Falconio’s disappearance and murder, about the details of this case. This episode first aired in 2019 and marked one of the earliest major cases on True Crime Conversations. We're re-releasing it today for listeners old and new. When Dawn was just eight years old, she found herself back in her abusive mother and stepfather's new home—a pink bedroom in a house built by a man she feared. One night, the only thing that was hers—a pink balloon—woke her with a strange tapping sound. What she witnessed next would haunt her for years to come. The balloon floated through the house, slipping under doorframes, gliding along ceilings… until it reached the basement. But something—something deep and primal—told her to run. Was the balloon leading her to something? Or was it luring her toward something far worse? This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. What if your child's birth opened a door for something else to come through? In this emotional and chilling story, a mother recounts her son's lifelong connection to the paranormal, starting from the moment of his difficult delivery, when a mysterious man sat silently in the hospital room. As he grew, shadow figures, sleep paralysis, and dark visions followed him from crib to bunk bed. Even mold crept like a living thing across his walls. But through it all, a protective and intuitive mother stood between him and the darkness. Was her son born sensitive, or born into a fight for his light? This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. "Rock and Roll really came into its own in the 1950s and once it did someone was always proclaiming it bad for the youth in one way or another. These were generally called Moral Panics. Here is the history and some examples of a few of the most popular Moral Panics."
We hope all our Creeps and Peeper are also unsettled by our tales this week. Dan starts off in North Carolina with a story about a man who tried to transform into an actual demon. And some think he was, in a way, successful. Then, his second tale is the story of some of the residents of a housing development outside of Houston, built on a forgotten cemetery, who claim that the spirits of those whose remains were disrespected were both awakened and angered by the destruction of their final resting place. Lynze has three stories today! Her first also takes us to Texas where a strange situation occurs with a neighbor. Then, a woman traveling alone has the creepiest taxi ride to her hotel. Lastly, a young boy runs into the former owner of his Grandmother's home. Scared To Death Merch: Exciting new merch is up in the store! What if a ghost just needed someone to ask what was wrong? In this chilling episode from eastern North Carolina, a young couple moves into a modest home where a woman had once died—someone the family even knew. Soon, unexplained footsteps, slamming doors, and the feeling of being watched become part of daily life. When a hurricane lamp appears in pieces—but completely undamaged—the fear intensifies. But after one eerie weekend, every photo in the home ends up mysteriously placed on the floor or bed. The haunting finally ends… after a conversation with the dead. Could a ghost really be listening? What happens when land scarred by centuries of cruelty refuses to stay silent? Welcome to Holiday Woods, Indiana—once Native ground, later stained by lynchings at the infamous “Hangman's Bridge,” and now a decaying campground-turned-meth haven. Don's remodeled cottage sits atop this spiritual fault line, where a Harley bandana wakes an unseen biker, crawl-space portals throb with pounding fists, and a procession of black-clad figures gathers at a salt-sealed fence they cannot cross. From spectral children to a nightmarish half-man, half-caterpillar crawling the perimeter, the evil here never rests… it only waits for the next soul brave enough to move in. Redemption E6 — In the book of Psalms, the Hebrew words for “redemption” are often used to simply mean save, rescue, or release. This is especially true in the psalms of King David, who was never a slave but regularly used redemption language to speak of trials with his enemies. As the collection of psalms grew and shifted over many centuries, David's personal longings for redemption came to represent something much bigger. In this episode, Jon and Tim explore the themes of personal, communal, and cosmic redemption in Psalms.CHAPTERSRecap and Intro to Redemption in the Psalms (0:00-12:54)David's Use of “Redeem” (12:54-34:28)Redemption From the Grave (34:28-48:30)REFERENCED RESOURCESYou can view annotations for this episode—plus our entire library of videos, podcasts, articles, and classes—in the BibleProject app, available for Android and iOS.Check out Tim's extensive collection of recommended books here.SHOW MUSIC“Just Truth” by Lofi Sunday, Yoni Charis “The Kingdom” by Lofi Sunday, Marc VanparlaBibleProject theme song by TENTSSHOW CREDITSProduction of today's episode is by Lindsey Ponder, producer, and Cooper Peltz, managing producer. What if two haunted houses, abandoned and forgotten, were spiritually—and literally—connected? In this chilling episode, we head to Angola, Indiana, where a young mother's new home quickly reveals a darker side. From phantom cries and mysterious scratches on a baby's face to a teenage boy haunted by a cloud of black smoke, the terror only grew. Spirits whispered to children, shadows emerged from vents, and a psychic uncovered portals… and something worse: hellhounds. Years later, the two cursed homes were mysteriously combined—just as the psychic had warned. Was it fate, madness, or something darker pulling the strings? This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. A family vacation in North Carolina takes a chilling turn when a mysterious man appears walking alongside a back road, surrounded by mist and dressed like a 19th-century prospector. Days later, the exact figure appears again—this time in a bustling crowd where no one but the family seems to see him. When the daughters begin having vivid dreams of the man showing them where bodies are buried, the mystery deepens. A return trip reveals an overgrown, forgotten cemetery… and another sighting from the woods. This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. What if a house doesn't need to be haunted by something visible to ruin the lives of everyone inside? Lindsay from Calgary shares the chilling story of a rental home that seemed normal—until it wasn't. Whispers in the basement, phantom footsteps, a locked door opening by itself, and a Furby talking at 3 a.m. were just the beginning. Over time, nearly everyone who lived there or stayed there suffered from depression, anxiety, or violent mood shifts, including thoughts of self-harm. And even the next tenants didn't escape unscathed. Was it bad luck… or something darker feeding off the people inside? This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. When tech-savvy 12-year-old Jack agreed to disinfect a friend's malware-riddled PC, he expected pop-ups, not a pitch-black figure gliding through the upstairs hallway. Soon the entire family began spotting the same silent shadow slipping between rooms and even—chillingly—standing at the bottom of their above-ground pool as bubbles rose around invisible legs. Years later, Jack thought the haunt was long forgotten… until a shortcut across a potato field brought him face-to-face with the entity again, watching from the garden before melting straight through a closed door. What—or who—still stalks that centuries-old Essex farmland? This is a daily EXTRA from The Grave Talks. When a family moved into a North Carolina rental home, they weren't expecting tension, terror, and an unseen presence that refused to let go. A child's eerie 3 a.m. conversations with a doll. An attic no one dared enter. A cloaked woman appearing in dreams, whispering, “I want your child.” As footsteps echoed from the empty upper floor and blankets were pulled off sleeping bodies, the family turned to cleansing and prayer. But nothing prepared them for what the landlord said next: “Just get your grandmother out of the house.” No one else lived there. So… who was watching from the attic window?
