In this episode, we explore McKenna's mythopoetic “stoned ape” theory, his radical take on shamanism, the ‘teacher' Mushroom that leads one to the ‘indwelling of the Goddess', the mysteries of DMT and the “machine elves,” and his controversial Timewave Zero vision of history and hyperspace that embraced the I Ching and the Mayan calendar ‘2012 phenomenon.'Beyond psychedelics, McKenna was also fascinated with alchemy and Gnosticism, and while figures like Crowley, John Dee, and Gurdjieff were not embraced by McKenna, Graham nevertheless calls him a “psychedelic occultist”—a thinker whose visions of transformation resonate with centuries of esoteric tradition, even if McKenna probably would have resisted the label. Along the way, we unpack the tension between his cult of personality and his desire for academic legitimacy, and consider the legacy he left for today's psychedelic and occult communities.Unfortunately, I experienced some technical difficulties with my podcasting equipment, and the sound quality is not up to the normal standard. I have been conscious of the subtle and invisible realms of energy as long as I can remember.  As a child I was a natural intuitive, empath and often saw and communicated with the dead. I had a childhood in the northwoods on a large farm. I was literally in the woods from sun up until sundown. This was my choice, I felt nurtured in the forest. The natural world is our foundation for life and a direct connection to Pure Creator Energy. Being certified in Sound Healing using Tuning Forks from the school of Acutonics and Soma Energetics, I have developed many ways to achieve Chakra balancing, both remotely and in person, creating harmony within my clients biofield. I have been a successful Reiki Master Teacher since 2008. I have seen many clients come to me with pain, ailments, and emotional energies that were stuck in their body or energy fields who found relief with my combined therapies. This week's show is with Isaac Wortley and Eddy Elsey, both practicing apprentices of a traditional Mongolian lineage holder, who founded Mother Tree Shamanism. Isaac is an English shaman, who experienced a calling from a very young age. This led him to search out an authentic traditional teacher of Mongolian shamanism. Over ten years ago, he was initiated by his teacher, the founder of Mother Tree Shamanism, and has been an apprentice ever since. He has also studied traditional Mongolian/Tibetan medicine for last three years. He currently lives in the Midlands in England providing shamanic and traditional medicine services for people in the West. Eddy has been studying as an apprentice with Mother Tree Shamanism for the last 3 years after transitioning to traditional shamanism from his previous background in neo-shamanism. He lives between the Midlands and London, and works as a traditional massage therapist. He is passionate about helping people discover authentic and traditional forms of spirituality. In this episode, Lian, Isaac and Eddy explore why traditional shamanism matters so deeply for those of us in the West. They touch on Eddy's descent into illness through neo-shamanic practice, the shock of meeting Mongolian shamans who can name events and symptoms with startling clarity, and the gap between learning shamanism in a weekend and a cosmology that allows a traditional shaman guide a herder to lost cattle on the steppe. From there the conversation turns to the forgotten role of the shamanist, the everyday person who knows how to live in balance - a first aider rather than a surgeon, metaphorically speaking, and what spiritual hygiene might look like in British life rather than faraway cultures. ORIGNIAL AIR DATE: FEB 2, 2019Brent Raynes decided to begin researching and investigating the UFO phenomenon back around January 1967, at age 14, soon after reading Flying Saucers: Serious Business by the late Indiana broadcaster and author Frank Edwards. Initially Brent's focus in the UFO field was devoted to gathering evidence that seemed to support the popular mainstream "nuts and bolts" theory of extraterrestrial visitation to our planet. However, after a couple of years of reading and researching various magazine articles and books on the UFO matter, Brent began to give serious consideration to the alternative ideas, theories and evidence that was being presented by researcher-authors like John A. Keel, Dr. Jacques Vallee, and Brad Steiger. Over the years, Brent has been particularly interested in the UFO close encounter and contact experiencer and the various and perplexing paranormal components that all too often are very evident in these cases. Frequently after such an encounter, the witness may have a series of paranormal experiences, be it poltergeist type activity, a ghost or ball of light, precognition, an out-of-body episode, or some other psychic manifestation. Often these experiencers describe apparent "alien" and "ghost" experiences going back to childhood. Brent feels that the UFO contactee, abductee, shaman, religious visionary, medium, or NDEs aall share a remarkably similar psychic profile. He suggests that we need to take a deep, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary look at these matters, looking not just up at outer space for our answers but also explore the vast dimensions of inner space as well.

This series of essays represents perspectives from Stephen's half-century in the study of psychotherapy and spiritual exploration. He suggests that the energy we call consciousness is an inherent aspect of the Universe, the instrument through which the deepest understandings can be experienced. Stephen Aronson is a psychotherapist with an eclectic training background ranging from cognitive behavioral therapy to the alchemical approach of Carl Jung. His spiritual life has been a search for verification of a deeper reality underlying the ordinary world of our senses. His personal aim has been to find a way to reconcile science and spirituality which would unite the concept of Universal Intelligence with rationality. After more than a decade in Jungian analysis and over four decades of study and practice in the system of transformational psychology introduced to the West by G. I. Gurdjieff, he has sought to find an approach to illustrate these deep and complex ideas and methods in common language and universally shared experiences. Steve lives in rural Maine where he retired in 2013 after forty-three years in the practice of psychotherapy, education and training. He is also the author of THE SEARCH FOR MEANING AND THE MYSTERY OF CONSCIOUSNESS: A Psychologist's Journey Through Gurdjieff And Jung, has published on the subject of Spiritual Psychology in the Proceedings of the annual All and Everything International Humanities Conference, and has written for Parabola, a magazine dedicated to myth, tradition and the search for meaning.
