In Segment One they break down the banking crisis, weighing the causes of the Silicon Valley Bank and Signature failures and what the repercussions may be. (Ted also congratulates Scott on his warnings that the Federal Reserve Board was pushing its anti-inflation rate increases far too hard, with the bank failures being the early results of those policies.) Next, Scott and Ted get you up-to-date on the most recent events in Ukraine. Which raises the question: will Ted join the Republican Party because of its ever growing antiwar stance on the Russia-Ukrainian conflict? Lastly, the boys discuss the growing notion that reality is subjective since we all seem to subscribe to our own version of what is real. WOKE WEDNESDAY: Internationally depressing women's day stats, Florida's fight for freedom through banning everything, and a word from ESGauge
Internationally renowned voice teacher John Henny returns to chat with host Alexa Terry on this episode of Singing Teachers Talk. John has taught thousands of vocalists, including Grammy winners and top background and session singers. He has also trained hundreds of voice teachers, including many industry leaders. We've got a belting episode for you this week, quite literally, as Alexa and John will be discussing how to belt. KEY TAKEAWAYS Belting is an intense style of singing, characterised by a longer closed phase in the vocal folds creating a more intense soundwave. If you're singing in a light voice, harmonics roll off quickly but with a belt they don't roll off as fast so you're getting more upper harmonic content. With the more intense soundwave you're tuning the vocal tract to boost those high frequencies so you're not left with any of the mellow jazzy sounds. You can make your belt more intense and forward by pushing the first resonance in the vocal tract really high into the shout configuration. When we do this our brain thinks we are shouting and overpresses the vocal cords. Good singers can override this switch in their heads (a prime example is the late Whitney Houston, who was a master at this.) Unless there is a physical or neurological issue, then anyone can belt. It can be of varying strength and quality, but it's a skill anyone can learn. BEST MOMENTS ‘Belting, I know it when I hear it' ‘Most contemporary music can use belt, it's only really female classical singers who won't' ‘You've got to break that connection to work up to the belt' EPISODE RESOURCES Guest Website: www.basttraining.com Social Media: Facebook: @John Henny Vocals Instagram: @johnhennyvocals Twitter: @johnhennyvocals Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/jhenny62 Relevant Links & Mentions: Belt Example @ 3:18 to end - Gimme Gimme from Thoroughly Modern Millie (Sutton Foster): YouTube.com/watch?v=OxYoHdAwFZc Belt Example @ 1:23 - I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston: YouTube.com/watch?v=FxYw0XPEoKE Kerrie Obert: https://obertvoicestudios.com/ Singing Teachers Talk Podcast - Ep. 59 Top Tongue Tips for Boosting High Frequency Energy with Kerrie Obert: https://linktr.ee/basttraining?utm_source Jeremy Ryan Mossman: https://www.singingwithjmoss.com/ Vocology in Practice: https://www.vocologyinpractice.org/ Ken Bozeman: http://www.kenbozeman.com/ Practical Vocal Acoustics by Kenneth W. One night of poor sleep can ruin the week. Chronic poor sleep can disrupt short and long-term mental and physical health. And traditional sleep methods are misguided, which is why most of them don't work. Press play to discover: Why the mind stays active even when you want to sleep, and how to make the mind go quiet without even trying to make it do so How and why all other sleep methods fall short of helping most people achieve sleep How the Sleep Easy method is a form of mind-body healing, easily achievable, and used as a replacement for sleep aids by many people Why quality sleep lowers healthcare costs Internationally renowned sleep expert and Co-Founder/Chief Clinical Officer at Sleep Easy, Richard Shane, has been featured in over 100 medical journals and publications. Today, he shares his insights with listeners, and even leads them through a four-minute experience of the body sensations of sleep—a method he says triggers neurological switches for sleep. It's not hypnosis, it's not meditation; it's simpler than both. For years, Shane struggled with “horrific” insomnia…leading him into a state of terror and anger, until he realized that he could use his experience as a way to discover how sleep happens. Through this process, he captured what he calls “secrets from the depths of sleep itself,” recording these secrets, implementing them into his method, and now sharing them with people all over the world. The Sleep Easy method is a 14-day program consisting of daily and nightly recordings aimed at bringing people from insomnia to progressively deeper levels of sleep. In the near future, a clinical study will not only measure how quickly people enjoy improved sleep using this method, but also how this results in lower healthcare costs. You know, seeing an opportunity and thinking, "How do we tackle this?", or maybe, some of the other common problems that you see are things like overwhelm. 04:02 - The symptoms of the problem: Well look, some of those things that I mentioned a minute ago, so maybe spinning their wheels, lots of activity, but not much traction or lots of opportunity, and feeling overwhelmed because you don't know which direction to go to. 05:01 - Clients' common mistakes before consulting Cynthia: Yeah, look, I think multiple's everything-- multiple markets, multiple client types, multiple channels to market, multiple marketing approaches. The Marches were ignited by the Death of SCLC local Jimmie Lee JacksonWhat did Jimmie Lee Jackson accomplish?Jimmie Lee Jackson, was a Vietnam veteran, Baptist deacon, activist and martyr of the Civil Rights Movement. Jackson, active in the fight for equal rights, had tried multiple times to register to vote in Alabama and was denied each time. When Jimmie Lee Jackson saw his frail 80-year-old grandfather rudely turned away from the registrar's office in 1962 after attempting to register to vote in Marion, Ala., the young man became angry. He knew he had to join the civil rights movement. On Feb. 18, 1965, he was among more than 200 people participating in a night march in Marion. Before they had walked a block, they were confronted by state troopers and the police chief, who ordered them to disperse. The marchers halted at the chief's order, and suddenly all the streetlights on the square went out. A black minister at the head of the march knelt to pray and was struck on the head by a trooper. Other troopers began swinging their clubs, and the marchers panicked, running for cover.Jackson and his mother huddled for safety in a café. When Jackson's grandfather entered the café bloodied and beaten, the young man tried to take him to a hospital. But they were quickly shoved back by a crowd of club-swinging troopers and terrified marchers. The troopers began knocking out the café lights with their clubs and beating people. Jackson saw a trooper strike his mother, and he lunged for the man. He was clubbed across the face and slammed him into a cigarette machine. Another trooper pulled his pistol and shot Jackson in the stomach. It was two hours before Jackson arrived at the hospital in Selma. He died eight days later.Forty-five years later, former trooper James Bonard Fowler pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of second-degree manslaughter. He was sentenced to six months in jail but was released early due to poor health. Fowler claimed he shot Jackson in self-defense.At one of two services for Jackson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told a crowd of 2,000: “Jimmie Lee Jackson's death says to us that we must work passionately and unrelentingly to make the American dream a reality. His death must prove that unmerited suffering does not go unredeemed.”© 2023 Building Abundant Success!!2023 All Rights ReservedJoin Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

Most people have a peasant mentality. Throughout human history, in fact, the vast majority of people never thought much beyond their tiny village, let alone traveled. But there have always been some people who have had the intellectual courage and curiosity to think far beyond their own borders. And they've often been richly rewarded for it. Adopting a global mindset essentially means thinking about the entire world when considering your options. And more options is almost always more beneficial. If you're thinking about retirement, more options will greatly increase the chances of finding the right place that has the right weather, cost of living, medical care, and lifestyle that you desire. If you're thinking about business, considering your overseas options will greatly increase your chances of finding high quality, cost effective labor… or lucrative new markets to sell your products and services. If you're thinking about investments, looking abroad increases the likelihood of finding wonderful, well-managed businesses trading at a steep discount to intrinsic value. Or a trophy property selling for less than the cost of construction. This is the topic of our podcast today-- we discuss WHY it makes so much sense to look abroad, and cite some very specific examples. We talk about asset protection, for example, and I explain why foreign asset protection structures are so much more effective. (I also explain why asset protection structures exist to protect against professional criminals who abuse the legal system to steal from law-abiding, hard-working people.) I cite specific legislation from some of the best jurisdictions to show precisely why they are so much more effective at helping to protect honest people from thieves. We also discuss taxes… and specific ways that thinking globally can dramatically reduce your taxes. These are all completely legal. We're not talking about any ‘loophole' that requires a creative interpretation of the tax code. I tell you about one international strategy, for example, to slash your tax bill by 50%. It's no loophole. In fact there's an entire section of the tax code dedicated to it. Bottom line, diversifying internationally doesn't mean you need to go anywhere or do anything exotic. It just means expanding your thinking to consider a wider variety of options… and that can have an enormous benefit in your life. You can listen in to today's episode here. To the ruins of the ancient Septicoleum Temple, located in the city of Rome. Now the Septic Soleum temple doesn't exist anymore. It was demolished hundreds of years ago. But if you know Rome at all, it was used to be located nearby, the Circus Maximus. [00:00:21.030] And on that day, the 8 January 1198, the Pope Celestein III, he had just died at the tender young age of 92 years old. And the College of Cardinals met very quickly at that Roman temple, the Septicoleum Temple, to elect his successor. By Vatican standards, the deliberation was very quick. The vote only took two ballots. You probably know, the black smoke and the white smoke and all of that. [00:00:45.790] It was very, very fast. They had two ballots. And so very quickly they chose their new Pope. It was a young guy's, 37 year old Italian nobleman. His name was Latario Descendy. [00:00:55.390] Latario descende chose as his new papal name. He chose innocent III. And right from the beginning, this young guy, he's young, he's full of energy, he's actually quite fixated on power. Innocent III felt that his predecessor had really weakened papal authority. You got to remember that for a long time the Church was the dominant influence in everything in Europe. [00:01:19.600] Politics, economics, daily life. They controlled everything. And over time, at this point,
