Oh yes, she presented very well on the phone with prospective employers, but when they saw her in person, the rejection came fast.  She didn't even get a chance to prove them wrong.Again, Jackie her mom, didn't treat her blind daughter any differently than her other children. She had to learn the ways of the world at a very young age. Kamille would be the stronger for it. Kamille shared that her mother "NEVER let me use the word "can't," and that she taught her daughter "to advocate for herself."Kamille Richardson was born blind but never lacked a vision for a bright future. However, a pattern quickly emerged.“They would see me, and they'd see that white cane in my hand—and the temperature would drop about 20 degrees,” she shares.*She looked great on paper, but once employers realized she was blind, their perception shifted.“Suddenly that warm greeting I got earlier became a cold conversation, and it always ended with the ‘Don't call us, we'll call you,'” she says. “The calls and emails never came.”Tired of rejection, she decided to say yes to herself. “I knew I had the power to hire me,” Richardson explains.*Her determination only grew as she stepped into the business world as a blind, Black entrepreneurial woman.*At first, she believed that fitting into corporate norms was the only way to succeed. “I thought I had to be very corporate, buttoned-up, and wear my power suit,” she admits. “But that's not me. When I tried to show up like that—stiff and stuffy—I wasn't comfortable in my own skin, and the doors still weren't opening.”Only when Richardson embraced her true self did things change.“I showed up with my big curly hair, my big earrings, and my colorful outfits—that's when people started seeing my personality first,” she shares.Building Her Own EmpireA self-described tech-savvy individual, Richardson adapted quickly to e-readers when the iPhone first launched them. Soon after, she founded iSee Technologies with the goal of helping her visually impaired and blind peers regain independence—particularly through employment.But her clients often faced the same rejections she once did.“I said to myself, ‘I need to evolve iSee Technologies to become part of the solution,'” Richardson says. “I decided to use my voice and my platform to go in and teach companies how to be more inclusive in their hiring and workplace culture—so when they see disability, they don't immediately reject it.”Today, iSee Technologies is a thriving business that offers people development consulting, accessibility services, and workforce wellness training to companies and government agencies. Their client list includes The Walt Disney Company, BASF, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Kraft, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.Inclusion Is Good for BusinessHiring people from diverse backgrounds and abilities enhances innovation and team performance.“The biggest misconception is that accommodations for people with disabilities are expensive,” Richardson explains. “But 59% of accommodations cost nothing at all—and the other 41% cost less than $500.”Many businesses fail to see the value of disabled employees simply because they don't understand it.“We are some of the most creative and innovative team members you'll ever have,” she says. “We live in a world not designed for us, so we have to be the ultimate problem solvers.”-One of iSee Technologies' corporate clients saw this potential and hired Richardson to conduct training to empower their teams to create more accessible environments. Executive functioning skills play a crucial role in motivation. Dopamine is essential for engaging in non-preferred tasks. Waiting until the last minute can be a legitimate strategy for motivation. Fear-based parenting creates stress and is not sustainable. Intrinsic motivation develops later in life, especially for neurodivergent individuals. New data published by LinkedIn has revealed that labour markets across EMEA slackened in October, highlighting the growing competition professionals face to secure a new job. Job seekers are instead countering this trend by reducing their search intensity in favour of "job hugging" - the trend of staying put. In Ireland, job search intensity - the ratio of applications to applicants - fell by -3.9% year-on-year in October, over double the rate of decline in several EMEA-LATAM countries during the month, averaging at -1.5% YoY. Only the United Kingdom (down -9.4% YoY), France (-5.6%), and Germany (-4.4%) recorded higher falls than Ireland. Ireland continues to lead the way on flexible work Hybrid work remains the most popular flexible working option offered by companies in Ireland, with 37.3% of all job postings in October offered as hybrid. Ireland ties with the United Kingdom for the highest availability of hybrid across EMEA, above the average of 30.8% of job postings advertised as hybrid across the region during the same period. Ireland also ranks highly for pure remote positions, placing second in EMEA with 8.2% of all job postings offering the opportunity to work exclusively from home. Ireland ranks second only to the UK (8.6%) and also surpasses the European average (5.3%.) Remote roles remain some of the most in demand jobs, making up 14.7% of job applications in EMEA. Demand in Ireland was higher, with applications for remote jobs making up almost one in five (18.4%) job applications. Green talent more likely to land jobs LinkedIn's Green Skills Report 2025 has also revealed green talent is far more likely to secure a job, getting hired at a global rate of 46.6% above the global hiring rate. Across the world, Energy Management is the fastest-growing green skill category. The proportion of LinkedIn members that added this skill was 17.4% higher in 2025 than in 2024. A spike in AI-driven demand for energy and continued growth in renewable energy supply has led to these skills growing particularly quickly in the Technology, Information and Media and Utilities sectors. Commenting on the data, LinkedIn Ireland Country Manager Cara O'Leary said: "Internationally and in Ireland, we are seeing a trend where more workers are opting to stay in their current roles rather than actively seeking new opportunities. This is down to a more competitive jobs market as companies advertise fewer roles. This is coming through in our data where we have observed a decline in job search intensity, which fell by nearly 4% year-on-year in October. "At the same time, Ireland continues to stand out as a leader in flexible work, with hybrid roles now accounting for more than one-third of all job postings. Remote opportunities also remain highly sought after, with Irish workers applying to them at even higher rates than the European average. "Sandy's resentment," Jennifer believes, "actually helped me to become more and have more acceptance and meet people where they're at instead of forcing narratives of how they should behave."Sandy gave Jennifer many gifts, including the gift of understanding, compassion, the gift of wonderment, life is nuanced and that life isn't always convenient."
