For National Crime Victims' Rights Week 2024, guest host Carter Coyle, NMVC's Public Information Director, leads a discussion with NMVC's Associate Academic Program Director Anne Seymour, University of Utah School of Law Professor Paul Cassell, and VOCA expert Steve Derene. They explore the anniversaries and history of key Federal laws: VOCA (1984) and the Crime Victims' Rights Act (2004), which help fund crime victim services and ensure Federal crime victims' rights.

These include the Director of Volunteer Programs for Los Angeles Animal Services, Founder and executive director of Kids and Pets and the director of Pals to Pets. Her passion for raising awareness through education and public speaking continues to reach out nationwide. Currently, our guest is the Public Information Director for programs including VIP, Volunteer Information Professionals, and the world famous PUP program at Los Angeles World Airport LAX. Our guest developed and created the Pets Unstressing Program in 2012 with the purpose of alleviating stress and anxiety at airports. Listener discretion is advised.Five-year-old Brittany Locklear waited alone for her school bus while her mom ran inside to use the bathroom. When she looked out the door, Brittany was gone. Neighbors witnessed a brown pickup truck slam on the brakes, got out and grabbed Brittany and then sped away. On January 8, Brittany's body was found in a drainage ditch about 3 miles away from her home. She had been raped and was drowned.
