There has been oddly smooth sailing of late with the team sweeping aside their closest competitor Texas Rangers at home in dominant fashion. Could Charbs get more TDs than Walker? :30- ABCs of the Mariners - K: is for kicker- the Mets got off to a terrible start this season and have suddenly exploded and are crediting Grimace for kicking their season into high gear. Hello Seattle Mariners fans! Zach Mason, Evan James and Anders Jorstad are here on Wednesday June 12th to celebrate the arrival of Mariners prospect Tyler (no relation to Heather) Locklear. The big news of the day is that BRYAN WOO IS OKAY! I'm sorry but that's genuinely all I care about. Bryan Woo's MRI was “perfectly clean”, they expect to slot him back into the rotation next week, likely on a pitch count and he'll throw 6 shutout anyways because that's what Woo do. Everything is coming up roses in Mariner land as the injury news is universally promising (Woo, Polanco, Santos, France, Speier) and the Mariners sit atop the West with a 6.5 game lead, largest in the American League. How long will Locklear and Bliss be sticking around once Ty and Polanco are on the mend? Are the Mariner's core players (Julio, Cal and JP) fully back in business? Headlines and Seahawks One Series: Gregg Bell (Tacoma News Tribune) joins us to discuss veteran wide receiver, Tyler Lockett and how this year might play out under Ryan Grubb's new offense. Could this be Lockett's last year? :30- ABCs of the Mariners - T: is for Ty(ler), as in France and Locklear. France has been put on the IL with a fractured heel and Locklear has been called up from Tacoma and is expected to play every day while France is out. - U: is for update- it appears that Jorge Polanco is close to being able to rejoin the team - V: is for Vladimir- we are going to have to cool the jets on the Vlad talk; the Blue Jays are making it very clear that they aren't interested in trading him, at least not now. :45- The NBA Finals resume Wednesday night in Dallas with the Celtics up 2-0 after a 105-98 win in Boston last night. It looks like the Celtics are cruising so far.
This week on Trapping Across America, we have….well me….Clint Locklear. I am getting interviewed by Norm Blackwell. He thought this would be interesting to do, so he could ask me questions about what it was like for me becoming a professional trapper. For years Norm thought I had money somehow when I got started, boy was he mistaken. Becoming a pro trapper is different for everyone, for me it was by the skin of my teeth. One thing I was sure of, I was going to make it, security be damned. So if you are struggling to make your dream come true, it may suck sometimes, but worth every bowl of Ramen you have to eat.
Chuck's Trade X's and O's Taylor Ward- doesn't cost you a lot nor prohibit you from making other moves Isaac Paredes & Jason Adams- TB looks like they'll be selling- will cost Ford or Locklear and RP as well (Randy Arozarena- Chuck has been big on him in the past, but he's struggling this year. Difficult to get along with. Could he improve by deadline? Has a reputation for coming up big in big moments, so he's not off Chuck's list entirely) Vlad Guerrero Jr- Toronto is looking more and more like sellers- it will cost you Ryan McMann- Rockies 3rd baseman with 4 more years on his deal- add in Justin Lawrence RP Louis Robert- on IL with the White Sox, so you wait for him to get healthy. Not a great Clubhouse guy, questionable effort off the field. :30- Mike Curto (Tacoma Rainiers) joins the show ahead of KJR's Rainiers Night! :45- We close out the weekend and head into a Holiday weekend with Booze News!
Hello Seattle Mariners fans! Evan James and Anders Jorstad are here on Wednesday afternoon, May 15th to talk Mariners after a series win over the Kansas City Royals. Julio's bat seems to be heating up, but is he all the way there? What do we make of Mitch, Mitch and Jorge? The Return of Canzone is here, but how will playing time shake out? Where would we be comfortable adding a trade piece/who would we be comfortable sitting to accommodate the trade? How close are Locklear and Young getting to the show? Is Felnin Celestin primed to break out? Shout out to our sponsor MacDougall bats! Editor's Note: I did this podcast a few hours after having to sprint away from a black bear in brief but hot pursuit and everything after that was an adrenaline fueled fever dream; not my most coherent day. This week on Window Dressing: American Trash and National Treasures is the first of a two-part episode dedicated to the queen of TV Heather Locklear. Locklear spent the entirety of the 1980s, 1990s, and part of the 2000s on hit Television shows. Specifically Aaron Spelling TV Shows. I focus on her role as Amanda Woodward in Melrose Place and her portrayal of Priscilla Davis in the true crime mini-series, Texas Justice. I also discuss Heather herself-her icon status and the construction and influence of "The Bitch." --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/madelaine-jane-auble/message
John Trupin, Kate Preusser and Zach Mason are joined by Lookout Landing prospect lead Max Ellingsen on Monday February 26th to talk about the kids. With few real position battles in camp, the prospects of note (Ford, Young, Locklear) are mostly in AA, rapidly approaching their debuts in the show. A mere three games into the spring, Young has already looked like he belongs with the big lead team, as does Locklear, as both prospects have come out of the gates swinging and looking quite convincing in doing so. What do the timelines look like for the big name prospects? Who else in the system should we be talking about? Shout out to our sponsor MacDougall bats! When her mother passed along a cookbook made and assembled by her grandmother, Erica Abrams Locklear thought she knew what to expect. But rather than finding a homemade cookbook full of apple stack cake, leather britches, pickled watermelon, or other “traditional” mountain recipes, Locklear discovered recipes for devil's food cake with coconut icing, grape catsup, and fig pickles. Some recipes even relied on food products like Bisquick, Swans Down flour, and Calumet baking powder. Where, Locklear wondered, did her Appalachian food script come from? And what implicit judgments had she made about her grandmother based on the foods she imagined she would have been interested in cooking? Appalachia on the Table: Representing Mountain Food and People (U Georgia Press, 2023) argues, in part, that since the conception of Appalachia as a distinctly different region from the rest of the South and the United States, the foods associated with the region and its people have often been used to socially categorize and stigmatize mountain people. Rather than investigate the actual foods consumed in Appalachia, Locklear instead focuses on the representations of foods consumed, implied moral judgments about those foods, and how those judgments shape reader perceptions of those depicted. The question at the core of Locklear's analysis asks, How did the dominant culinary narrative of the region come into existence and what consequences has that narrative had for people in the mountains? Danielle was excited to have a distraction from that -- and in came in the form of a new love interest: Je'Michael. It wouldn't take long for Danielle, 15, to get acclimated to North Carolina —she got straight A's and made lots of friends. All was going well until one night in 2014 when Danielle left her house to return a book to her neighbor/ friend and never came back. Her disappearance was a huge shock to her family, friends and community -- and they immediately sprung into action along with law enforcement. Will their concerted effort help to bring Danielle back home? For a list of sources from today's episode and pictures, please visit www.itsthemysteryforme.com/episodes/danielle-locklearOur Social Media: www.itsthemysteryforme.com/links
