Shaq Donates Sneakers To Bullard & Americans Are Sick of High Prices

Shaquille O’Neal donated roughly 2,400 pairs of sneakers to students at Bullard High School in Fresno, creating a memorable surprise that met a real need for many families. Through a personal connection with a local teacher, the NBA legend turned generosity into impact—helping students stay active, confident, and supported both in and out of the classroom. Americans are increasingly pushing back against stubbornly high prices, prompting major retailers and brands to respond with more affordable options like value meals, smaller package sizes, and strategic discounts. This shift highlights a turning point in consumer behavior, as price-conscious shoppers force companies to compete harder on value and rethink how they price everyday goods in an inflation-weary economy. Big Sal is standing in his living room in Peshtigo — thirty-one degrees, windows frosted over — and he is FIRED UP about a twenty-two-year-old safety from Milledgeville, Georgia. Pack Nation, it is time to talk about Javon Bullard. And Sal is not here to whisper. Bullard's rocky rookie year gets the full autopsy: yanked between free safety and slot corner, he became the first player since 2007 to log 250+ snaps at BOTH positions in a single season — and he still made 85 tackles. The ceiling was buried under the confusion. Year two tells a completely different story: once Hafley locked Bullard into the slot, his PFF coverage grade jumped from 49 to 63.7 — and in his final five games, he ranked inside the top three slot defenders in the entire league alongside Kyle Hamilton and Derwin James. Sal breaks down Jonathan Gannon's three-safety penny front and explains exactly why Bullard — with his Georgia background, hybrid college role, and two years of forced versatility — is the Budda Baker piece Gannon has been building toward his whole career. This is not a depth piece. This is architecture. Subscribe to Let Me Tell You Something on the Packernet Podcast Network and hit follow wherever you get your podcasts. Today I'm joined by Tim Bullard, a leader whose career spans law, public policy and large-scale education reform. Tim began his professional life as a lawyer before moving into senior policy roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. Over more than a decade with the Department of Premier and Cabinet in Tasmania, he played a key role in major national reforms, including the development of Child and Family Learning Centres and the negotiations around the Gonski schools funding agreement. In 2016, Tim joined the Tasmanian Department of Education and later became Secretary of the Department for Education, Children and Young People, where he led the integration of education, child safety and youth justice into a single values-based system focused on ensuring every child and young person is known, safe, well and learning. Most recently, Tim has been appointed CEO of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, @aitsleduau, commencing October 2024. It's a thoughtful conversation about leadership at scale, the complexity of education systems, and what it takes to build structures that truly support teachers, schools and young people.

Have an idea or tip? Send us a text!A 1938 basement lab that processed black-and-white alongside amateur rolls now runs a high-speed digital operation that can ship school orders in about two days. The Dead Pixels Society sits down with Richmond Professional Lab's Ted Bullard and Josh Lewis to map the decisions that made digital not just viable, but superior, for volume photographers who demand both quality and speed.Bullard recounts how Kodak's consent decree opened the processing market and how Richmond leaned into professional work, long-roll film, and eventually early digital printers. Then Lewis pulls back the curtain on the operational engine: why fewer, faster machines beat a fleet of minis, how custom software gangs tens of thousands of orders, and why posting live turnaround times builds trust during peak seasons. They share into the Canon DreamLabo journey, HP ink and laminate advances, and the color fidelity and longevity that finally matched—then surpassed—silver halide expectations. The volume landscape is shifting fast, with independents stepping in where a major player receded. That opens space for smarter products and sharper margins: yard signs, big head cutouts, layered graphics, and ship-to-home convenience that schools and parents now prefer. For our 200th episode, we had the pleasure and privilege of speaking with Nat Bullard, one of the sharpest minds in the energy world. A leading analyst in climate and energy, Nat is known for his clear insights on clean energy, decarbonization, and the global energy transition. Formerly Chief Content Officer at BloombergNEF, he is now also a co-founder of the AI company Halcyon.  Nat is perhaps best known for his annual 200-slide deck, a rich compilation of global data and charts that paints a clear, fact-based picture of where the energy sector is heading.  Our conversation spans major shifts shaping the future: the electrification of the Global South, the rise of AI and datacenters, the unravelling of ESG, and the evolving geopolitics of energy through the lens of "Electrostates vs. Petrostates"—and how investment flows are responding.  We also explore the dominant narratives in the energy space, many of which, we agree, are self-serving and unhelpful.  Ultimately, the energy transition is being held back less by technology and more by entrenched interests and a lack of curiosity. But the world is changing fast—and there is reason for hope.   We thank AFRY for supporting the show.  Reference for reports quoted during the showThe Electrotech Revolution – Ember and Kingsmill Bond   https://ember-energy.org/latest-insights/the-electrotech-revolution/  Afry: Market and regulatory overview of the North Atlantic Transmission One -Link project https://afry.com/en/exploring-nato-l-project-and-transatlantic-power-exchange-decarbonised-future   "AFRY provides engineering, design, digital and advisory services to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable society.
