Sometimes, the very lowest point of our life is a wake-up call. This week, Pastor Connor continues our series in Judges with the conclusion of Samson's life. Samson was given great strength, but often treated this gift like it didn't matter, or used it just for his own benefit. He also disobeyed God in significant ways. Finally, Samson lost his girl, his hair, his strength, his sight, and his freedom all in a single day. He was brought lower than he'd ever been, but God was still at work in unseen ways. From Samson's life, we can learn to steward our strength for God, let rock bottom refocus us, and remember that God never stops caring for and working on us.This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the book of Judges, some of the talking points were, how should we categorize Samson, what is the Nazarite vow, and how symbolic was Samsons hair. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about something hairy...If you would like to watch the video podcast, find us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMhDfGn0zfzi6XjcKkSVcFAFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/discovertbcInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/topekabiblechurchWebsite: https://www.discovertbc.com/
God sometimes uses the unlikeliest people and situations to accomplish His purposes. This week, Pastor Jim continues our journey through Judges with a look at the rise of Samson, a judge chosen by God before birth. He was set apart and given great strength. But from the very beginning of his story, Samson proved himself to be unspiritual, disrespectful, and impetuous. He chased pretty foreign women instead of deliverance for his people. And God used Samson's character flaws to spark a one-man war that would devastate the Philistine people. Pastor Jim leaves us with encouragement to obey God willingly, not in spite of ourselves, bringing the sweet honey of God's truth with us everywhere we go.This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the book of Judges, some of the talking points were, the jerks that God uses to fulfill His perfect plan, the lion and the bees, and ways we can grow spiritually. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about something that a lot of us have been wondering, is TBC still planning on going on their trip to Israel? The wedding feast of Samson painted by Rembrandt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wedding_Feast_of_Samson#/media/File:Rembrandt_Harmensz._van_Rijn_146.jpgIf you would like to watch the video podcast, find us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMhDfGn0zfzi6XjcKkSVcFAFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/discovertbcInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/topekabiblechurchWebsite: https://www.discovertbc.com/
Despite Samson being a hero of faith, I think his life is more about instruction of what not to do. Part 2 of this series leaves us with some pretty sobering thoughts and opportunities for reflection. Diving deep often leaves us in spaces to take account of things in our own lives.

As promised we are diving into Samsons life. I read a line about Samson that described his life as “Unfulfilled Potential”. I felt to pursue that thought and see how that affects us as well in our lives. Get ready to do some soul searching but also encouragement at the goodnes of God despite ourselves.
Samson's life unravels as small compromises accumulate until he can no longer see what's true. But in his return, we see a God who steps into our ruins with mercy and restores the repentant. From Judges 16.
Samson: Strength Without SurrenderSet apart from birth and blessed by the Spirit, Samson chooses what is right in his own eyes. His story warns and invites us to take God at his word, take our next step, and live in the strength of Jesus, the true and better Samson. From Judges 13-14.
In the fourth and final part of the Samson series, Autumn closes out with a challenge: do you know what your weaknesses are? Samson nursed his weaknesses with women and showing off. What he didn't realize was that the very weaknesses he kept at bay instead of handling them with the Lord became what the enemy used to get to him. What have you been using to nurse your weaknesses? Do you know what you should do with your weakness instead? Monologue: Autumn dispels the common disbelief that “God doesn't speak” to individuals with a recent example of a childlike sign God used to speak to her. Message: Autumn preaches about the differences between Samson's focus and Paul's focus between strength and weakness. Testimony: A listener shares the importance of trusting God's PROCESS of healing rather than quick healing. As a parent, it's easy to become struck with fear when our kids ask for things that might have uncertain or even difficult consequences. But what if we need to surrender our control and operate in Spirit-filled trust that God will use whatever it is for our good and His glory? Let's take a special look at how we are introduced to Delilah, the reason for Samson's ultimate downfall, and how God already had plans to turn it around for good. Monologue: Autumn gives an update on her son, Jude, and how he steps up to comfort his mom. Message: Autumn draws attention to an important verse about Samson's choice for his life that leads to his downfall yet brings about glory to God and freedom for his people. Testimony: A listener shares a way the Lord provided so much more exceedingly and abundantly in the aftermath of a messy divorce. Sometimes God will lead us to a calling that we are not meant to see all the way through. Sometimes He might only want us to be a part of the beginning, the middle, or the end. Samson was prophesied to begin the deliverance of Israel, but he was never meant to see it all the way through. How often have we been loyal to a calling after God has left because we believe we are supposed to stay? Monologue: Autumn shares a profound finding from her studies for her master's degree about the martyrs of the early church. Message: Autumn explains how Samson's entire purpose was never to see the deliverance through to the end, but rather to begin the deliverance of God's chosen people, because God Himself would be the one to see it to the end. Question: “Every time I go into ministry, there is serious opposition happening. I know it's the enemy, but how do I combat this?” Bible References: Judges 16 Links from the show BOOKS: www.autumnmiles.com/resources SPEAKING: www.autumnmiles.com/speaking MERCH: autumnmiles.square.site PRE-ORDER HOLY GHOSTED HERE! https://www.amazon.com/Holy-Ghosted-Teaches-Surviving-Spiritual/dp/1636415431 Sponsors: NuWell Online Christian Counseling https://nuwellonline.com/ Purpose Jewelry https://purposejewelry.org code AUTUMN2024 If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the show, send us an email at hello@autumnmiles.com If you have a suggestion for the ministry, a question for Autumn, a testimony to share, or other inquiry for the Autumn Miles Ministries, click here and fill out the form, or send us an email at hello@autumnmiles.com Join us on social media! The enemies of Samson used Delilah to entice Samson in giving up the secret to his great strength. Delilah was a distraction, something that wasn't surrendered or committed to the Lord. The enemy knew that if he pressed hard enough, he could reach the limit of the human spirit. Has the enemy pressed, and pressed, and pressed you to the point of exhaustion in your soul? This is the introduction to a FRESH, new series about the practical steps we can learn from Samson's life! Monologue: Autumn started her graduate classes again after a semester off to write her book. Message: Autumn introduces her series on Samson and gives listeners a practical first step to kick off the series strong. Testimony: A listener thanks Autumn for the reminder that when the enemy tempts her to quit, she needs to push even harder. Samson's story shows a strong man weakened by impulsiveness, pride, and compromise, driven by personal desires rather than God's will. His choices lead to his capture and blinding. God uses Samson's flaws to disrupt Israel's complacent captivity under the Philistines. In his lowest moment, Samson's repentance restores his strength, enabling him to destroy the Philistine temple. His life foreshadows Jesus, who became weak to save humanity.

Samson, the final Judge in Judges, embodies Israel's cycle of sin and deliverance. Born to a barren woman as a promised Nazirite, he's tasked with saving Israel from the Philistines. Despite his divine calling, Samson's life is marked by compromise, impulsiveness, entitlement, and pride, breaking his vows and using his strength selfishly. His story points to Jesus, the true Savior who fulfills what Samson only begins.

“Samson said to them, “This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them.” So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs.
