Pastor: Rev. Sarah Daniels Roncolato Scripture 1 Samuel 3:1-21 Sermon -- Prepare To Be Called
If God came and spoke to you today, would you know it? Would you recognize His voice, hear His Heart? Or could God tell you “never-mind” and walk away without you caring? Samuel learned to Hear from God and he honored that privilege by sharing God’s Word completely, clearly, and truthfully. How bout you? Are you truly listening to God’s Words? What are you doing with it? 1. No Word From God 2. God’s Word to One 3. One’s Word to All
When the Lord speaks and we respond, God fulfills his purposes in us and through us. Samuel’s calling by God is a template for how he still interacts with us today. God called Samuel in a dark time when "the word of the Lord was rare.” But the Lord called to Samuel who didn’t yet know God. He didn’t realize it was God (Jesus pre-incarnate) until Eli counsels him to respond in humility and submission. Samuel does exactly that, and God revealed the same prophecy regarding Eli from chapter 2. The passage closes with the words that God “let none of his words fall to the ground,” meaning that the Lord worked to fulfill his purpose and all that He called Samuel to do. We live in a time when the Lord speaks all the time, through His word, His spirit, and His people. We respond in humble submission like Samuel when we make ourselves available to listen, and humbly submit to his calling. When we do that, the Lord works, and fulfills his purposes in us and through us. When the Lord speaks and we respond, the Lord works. What does that look like for you and this people called the Tabernacle today?

Wednesday Night Bible Study and announcements
Israel is in a terrible state and as we start on our journey through 1 & 2 Samuel. In 1 Samuel we see "you cannot know God and live in disobedience to God. On the other hand, in the case of Samuel, we see that it is only possible to know God when God acts to make himself known."
Does God speak today? If so, how do I hear his voice? These questions have dogged people for millennia. In this message, learn how to hear God speak as we examine the prophet Samuel’s first encounter with God.

As a young child, Samuel, the Lord spoke to him in the night, but he was not yet spiritually discerning enough to determine the word of God. Just like Samuel we need to listen to the Lord, to hear what he has to say to us as we see his guidance and direction. We must also pray but also take the quiet time to listen to the Lord. In our days, God also speaks to us and he does it primarly through his word, revealing God through the scriptures that he has still inspired for us today.
Are you a rainbow? Are you a pickle? Or, are you blue? Wanna find out? Just listen!
God spoke to Samuel, and he speaks to you.

Some Christians assign every decision to "God told me" while others aren't even sure God ever speaks. How does God speak? And how do we know it's Him?

Our passage describes a story of the young boy Samuel, who was surprised to hear the voice of God. Listening for the voice of God is an important part of walking by faith, and Samuel is an example of a person who listened to God. Of course, his historical situation and his prophetic role were different than ours but surely we can learn from his example.

We all hear voices. The challenge is learning to filter out the unwanted influences so we can hear and follow The Voice of God.

The call for the hour is for the church to fall madly in love with Jesus Christ. In order to stand in this hour, we need to be close to the Lord and have discernment of spirits and a strong prayer life. Tonight, we look at the life of Samuel and see how to grow in our generation and expose the roadblocks that keep us at a distance.
This WORD was made manifest - a great discussion on the Trinity and a deep wrestle with the question: WHO IS GOD?
Are there times when God seems to be silent and not speak to you? Is this normal, or is there a cause? If we find ourselves in a place where we are not hearing from God, how should we react? What should we do? We turn to 1 Samuel 3 where the Word of God starts of with "And the word of the Lord was rare in those days..."

1 Samuel 3:1-21 The Importance of Godly Leadership-Part 5 Pastor Phil Ballmaier Pastor Phil explores this bible prophet, and how the Old Testament can relate to the day we are currently living in. In this critical period of Israel’s history, the people of God transformed from a loosely affiliated group of tribes into a unified nation headed by a king. Pastor Phil illustrates the perfect correlation between how from the first Book of the Bible to the last—scripture is relevant to the challenges we face. Calvary Chapel Elk Grove is a non-denominational fellowship located in Elk Grove Village, a northwest suburb of Chicago in Illinois. Our primary mission is to teach God's Word in its' entirety, verse-by-verse, precept upon precept. We believe that the Word of God is living and powerful, and because of Jesus' work on the Cross, He can and does move in the lives of His people. The Word of God does mighty things through the lives of His listening servants. 1. His personal call 2. The coming of His word
Christianity, contrary to popular belief, is not an individualistic faith. We can't walk this journey by ourselves; we can't be concerned with just ourselves; we can't just minister to ourselves. This faith is about how we relate to others and reflect the love of Christ with other people. We must build community.
Discerning between the call of God and the impressions of Satan can sometimes be confusing. This sermon helps us to actually know when that voice we hear is God's and how to respond to it.
