This conversation I have with my friend Michael Neely goes somewhere I wasn't expecting. We start talking about hearing God's voice, and it turns into one of the most honest conversations I've had about what's actually in the way of receiving the Father's love... and why most of us don't even realize it's there.Michael Neely is an ordained Presbyterian pastor, spiritual director, and author of Hearing the Heartbeat of God and A Longing for More. He spent 13 years as a jail chaplain and now mentors young men in Bellingham, Washington through inner healing and freedom prayer.Expect to learn what "heart theology" is and why it shapes how you relate to God more than your actual beliefs do, what happened when Michael's dad disowned him at 25 and how it rewired his view of the Father, why forgiveness from your head and forgiveness from your heart are two very different things, what a 7-year-old boy and a gang taught Michael about community, how fear and unforgiveness quietly block us from hearing God, the four different ways we receive from God (and why most people only recognize one), and what it looks like to live from a place of being loved instead of performing for approval.Chapters:00:00 Intro04:10 The Simplicity of Hearing God and Why I Still Wrestle With It10:17 What's Actually Blocking Us From Receiving the Father's Love20:54 When Michael's Dad Disowned Him at 2527:46 Forgiveness From the Heart, Not Just the Head35:08 The Question That Changes How You See God and Yourself39:43 Permission to Fail and Why Jesus Wants You to Risk More47:52 The Four Ways We Receive From God53:55 What 13 Years in Prison Ministry Taught Michael About HealingIf something in this conversation stirred something in you, just sit with it for a moment. Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Feeling spiritually 'hearing impaired'? This teaching emphasizes that God is a speaking God, encouraging you to create space in your life for God to turn your empty space into a holy place.
What if God is speaking through what's happening in your life right now?In this final message of the Hearing God series, Pastor Clint explores one of the most confusing ways God communicates: through the circumstances of our lives. When doors open, plans fall apart, or life takes an unexpected turn, it's easy to ask, “God, what are you trying to tell me?”The Bible shows that God often guides His people through real life situations. From Noah building an ark before rain existed, to Moses encountering God in a burning bush, to Paul being redirected on his missionary journey, God frequently works through events we did not see coming. At the same time, not every circumstance is a message from God. Learning to discern His voice requires wisdom and the right order of filters: His Word, the Holy Spirit, trusted voices, and then life events. In this message, you will discover:• How God can guide you through the circumstances of life• Why some closed doors may actually be God's direction• The posture that helps you recognize what God is doing• How to find peace even when you do not understand your situationIf you have ever felt confused, stuck, or unsure about what God is doing in your life, this message will help you learn how to trust Him and listen for His voice along the way.Because sometimes God does not give the whole map.He gives the next step.
Are you just hearing the noise, or are you actually listening to what God is saying? God is constantly speaking to us, but the distractions of daily life often drown out His voice. This message breaks down the crucial difference between passive hearing and active listening, highlighting how we can tune into spiritual "intel" to navigate our daily battles. Drawing from biblical accounts like Elisha outsmarting the King of Aram, Moses at the Red Sea, and Jehoshaphat facing impossible odds, we look at what it takes to remove the blockages keeping us from God's guidance.

To Become a Follower of Jesus, You Must Have Faith; and Your Faith Comes From YOU Hearing God's Word MESSAGE SUMMARY: Others to whom you minister, such as your children and friends, can her about the Lord and the Gospel from you – for the first time or in reinforcement; but they must hear for themselves and believe for themselves to be saved. Many of us first believed because of what our parents taught us; but then we heard for ourselves, and we believed. You cannot live on another's faith in Jesus. We must hear the Gospel for ourselves and come to the Lord in our own faith. As Paul tells us in Romans 10:16-17: “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?'. So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." You will stand before the Lord alone in judgment – you will speak for yourself with only Jesus to speak for you. Share God's good news with your family and friends so that they can hear and believe for themselves. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, fill me with the simple trust that even out of the most awful evil around me, you are able to bring great good — for me, for others, and for your great glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 91). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will trust in the Lord with all my heart. I will trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I will seek to know Him, and He will make my pathways straight. From Proverbs 3:5f SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): 2 Timothy 1:5; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; Matthew 7:24-27; Psalms 72b:11-20. When the storm rages and all hope seems lost, there is still one place to turn. In this message, Dr. John walks through the harrowing account of Paul's shipwreck voyage, showing how one man's unshaken communion with God became the anchor for everyone around him. A compelling look at what it means to hear from God in the darkest of circumstances — and how that changes everything.Jesus Goes Global: A Prisoner of Christ: When we read the book of Acts, we tend to give primary attention to the formation and growth of the Church in the early chapters. We then highlight the three mission trips of Paul. But some of the most profound lessons lie in the final chapters of Acts 25-28. Dr. John will show God extending His Kingdom through the personal struggle and imprisonment of Paul. The world's worst cannot impede God's best.

Are you truly waiting on God — or are you avoiding obedience because it feels uncomfortable? If you've been wondering how to know God's will, how to hear God's voice clearly, or whether you're delaying because of fear, this message is for you. James 2:17 says, "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." In this episode of Chosen By Jesus with Kelley and Taylor Tyan — ranked in the Top 1% of Christian podcasts worldwide and reaching 21 countries — we unpack what waiting on God really means and how faith in action requires obedience before comfort. By God's grace, this community has grown to: • 109,000+ views • 940+ hours watched • Viewers in 21 countries • 57,000+ views in the United States In uncertain times — from personal hardship to global conflict — many believers struggle with trusting God in uncertain times and stepping out in faith. But biblical faith has never required perfect conditions. It requires movement. This Bible-based teaching covers: • Waiting on God vs. avoiding obedience • Faith without works explained (James 2:17) • How to step out in faith when you feel afraid • Overcoming fear biblically • Christian obedience in real life • Hearing God's voice and responding with courage Sometimes fear disguises itself as spiritual wisdom. Sometimes delay looks like discernment. But obedient waiting produces peace. Avoidant waiting produces excuses. ⸻ Reflection: • Has God already spoken? • Am I asking for clarity when I really want certainty? • If fear wasn't involved, what would I do next? You don't need another confirmation. You need courage. ⸻ Scriptures: James 2:17 Ecclesiastes 11:4 ⸻ Prayer: Lord, give us discernment to know when You are asking us to wait — and courage when You are asking us to move. Where we've delayed obedience, strengthen us. Teach us faith in action and help us choose obedience over comfort. Prayers That Change Everything - Week 4 - "Hearing God's Voice In Prayer" - Michael Sandberg
Growing up, I remember watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. If you're not familiar with this book or movie, it's about 4 teenage girls whose stories and lives are all so different, and though they are forced to spend their summer apart, a pair of jeans somehow fits each one, though their figures are as different as their stories. Reflecting on our unexpected friendship, I think I've found my own version of this Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Our stories, backgrounds, ages, hurts, habits and hang-ups are all so very different, but our common thread is not denim. It's the decision to surrender these cares to Christ and walk with others who are doing the same.As we practice engaging our sense of hearing to experience God, we're focusing on hearing God as we share vulnerable conversations in safe, Christ-centered community. I'm truly honored to bring you into a circle with a few of the voices who have shared their stories with me. God is speaking. The real question is: are we listening? In Week 5 of Hearing God, we move beyond the basics and step into something deeper, the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. What does it look like to let “the peace of Christ rule in your hearts” (Colossians 3:15)? How do you make major decisions without being driven by pressure, fear, emotion, or the rush to act? This message unpacks the role of your conscience, the difference between being driven by the flesh and led by the Spirit, and why peace is often the clearest indicator of God's direction. You'll learn how God speaks through impressions, nudges, dreams, cautions, and His Word written on your heart. We also explore how a wounded, seared, or guilty conscience can distort your ability to hear Him.If you're facing a big decision about career, family, relationships, health, or your faith, this teaching will help you slow down, guard your heart, and pursue a clear conscience so you can walk forward with confidence. You don't have to live pressured and confused. You can live led.

Can Christians pursue success in business without sidelining their faith—or turning God into just another “box” in life? In this episode of the Thinking Christian Podcast, Dr. James Spencer sits down with Andrea Anderson, Christian business coach and author of Bread Like Rain, to talk about surrendered strategy, discipleship, and what it really means to follow Christ in entrepreneurial work. Andrea shares her journey from cultural Christianity to atheism and agnosticism—and eventually to a living faith shaped by loss, prayer, and God’s persistent pursuit. Her move into life coaching and consulting didn’t come from a desire to optimize productivity alone, but from a deeper question: How do I help people experience lasting, eternal transformation rather than temporary fixes? Drawing from her work with Christian business owners, Andrea explains why many leaders experience recurring chaos despite good intentions: self-reliance and control quietly replace trust in God. The solution isn’t better tactics at ground level, but a top-down reordering—learning to ask what the Lord is saying and aligning vision, strategy, and identity accordingly. When leaders build from misalignment, results never last. When they build from surrender, fruit endures. James and Andrea explore how discipleship must shape leadership, why faith cannot be compartmentalized into “God,” “work,” and “family” boxes, and how obedience opens our eyes to what God is already doing. They also discuss the dangers of redefining success apart from God’s purposes—where profitability, health, relationships, and obedience must be held together rather than traded off against one another. The conversation touches on prayer, listening for God’s voice, and why many Christians struggle to slow down spiritually: not because they don’t know prayer matters, but because they doubt they can actually hear God. Andrea introduces the idea of a “faith optimization gap”—the distance between what we know and what we truly believe—and how that gap quietly shapes decisions, priorities, and burnout. Finally, Andrea offers a candid reflection on the modern church: discipleship requires more than encouragement and affirmation. True love includes correction, accountability, and refining relationships shaped by Christ—not cultural comfort. Topics include: From organizing spaces to organizing lives under Christ Why self-reliance creates recurring chaos in leadership Faith, profitability, and God’s definition of success Compartmentalization vs. surrendered discipleship Prayer as communion, not a spiritual checklist Hearing God’s voice in daily decisions Church discipline, accountability, and real community Bread Like Rain and Andrea’s upcoming book, Rock Solid Business You can find out more about Andrea at https://andrealeighco.com. We are seeing headlines everywhere about "Cover-Up Culture," and honestly, it's "trendy", in some instances it may be true, and in some, it may be love seeking to cover. He read the entire New Testament in a weekend. Fasted for 40 days. Got a Bible college degree. Got ordained. Pastored a church. And after all of that — 10 years of trying — he still couldn't hear God's voice.Mark Virkler wasn't casual about his faith. He was desperate for it to work. But every method he tried led to the same result: silence. No one could explain what God's voice actually sounded like. One teacher called it "subterranean rumblings of the spiritual mind." Another said "you just know that you know." None of it helped. Then one morning, God woke him up with a voice he couldn't ignore and pointed him to Habakkuk 2:1-2 — where he found 4 simple steps that changed everything:Stillness — quiet yourself and get beyond your own thoughtsVision — fix the eyes of your heart on JesusFlow — tune to spontaneous, flowing thoughtsJournaling — write down what you receiveWhat surprised Mark most? He realized he'd been hearing God his whole life — he just didn't know what to listen for. Those "brilliant thoughts" that seemed to come out of nowhere? That creative solution? That nudge to call someone? That was God. He'd just been attributing it to his own mind.In this conversation, Mark shares the full story — the 10 years of frustration, the wrong definitions that kept him stuck, the moment it broke open, and how an 8-year-old granddaughter now uses these same steps every single day.If you've ever thought "Why can't I hear God?" — this might be the reason.

In “We Walk by Faith – Part 2,” Pastor Daniel Stevens invites us to reflect on the foundation of our spiritual life. Salvation does not come through effort or rule keeping. It begins by believing the message of Christ. If our relationship with God starts by faith, then every next step forward must also be taken by faith. Hearing God's Word is powerful, but transformation happens when we truly believe it.Pastor Daniel Stevens points to the disciples asking for more faith and reminds us that even small faith can produce big results. Yet we are not meant to stay small. God calls us into new identities, new levels of obedience, and new trust long before we see visible evidence. Whether you are believing for healing, growth, freedom, or restoration, the invitation is clear: trust what God has said and walk it out. Are you sure the voice you're following is actually Jesus? In John 10, Jesus says we're all following someone. The question is who. In a world packed with influencers, opinions, and spiritual noise, it's easy to mistake a loud voice for a true one. Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd and the Door. He warns that false teachers are thieves who steal, kill, and destroy. Real life, real freedom, and real peace are found by learning to recognize His voice through Scripture and following Him out of the chaos into something better.
Discover the profound significance of the Holy Spirit as your Helper—God's promise to guide, teach, and speak to you every day!
We've spent a lot of time in this series talking about how to hear the voice of the shepherd, which Jesus promised was a reality for his followers in John 10, but the reality is there are times we will miss it. Many people report they have a frustrating experience trying to hear God's voice. The Bible actually has a lot to say about why we might miss hearing God's voice, and it's a common enough experience that it's worth its own sermon. In this message, Pastor Joel walks through several stories in scripture where we see people struggling to hear God's voice, considering what we might learn from them. On the one hand, it might have to do with realities in the spiritual world outside of our control that we deal with as we open ourselves up to the spiritual world and listen to the voice of a spiritual being. And on the other hand, sometimes it's “user error,” issues with our lives or hearts that crowd out the voice of God finding its way to us. The good news is that Jesus has made it so we never have to fear God has shut us out from him for good if we earnestly seek him.

From chasing my DUPR score to navigating frustration, identity, and ego, I reflect on how quickly we attach meaning to performance and labels. I also open up about the importance of rest, honoring slower Sundays, and allowing space to reset before stepping into a full week of leadership, meetings, and responsibility. This episode takes a deeper spiritual turn as I unpack a powerful message that came to me in the middle of the night about mind chatter, intuition, and discerning the voice of God from the voice of the human ego. I explore meditation, self awareness, entrepreneurship, purpose, and how often we justify big decisions as divine guidance when they may be driven by ambition or identity. If you are on a spiritual growth journey, building a business, questioning your inner voice, or seeking clarity between intuition and overthinking, this conversation will invite you into deeper reflection and conscious alignment.IN THIS EPISODE:(0:00) Day 4 diary kickoff: The missing DUPR score and competitive ego(1:17) Season 3 celebration and 150 dollar visa gift card giveaway(2:13) Pickleball rating confusion:...

Do you feel you are getting “too old” to meet your spouse? Do you feel “left behind” as others around you are getting married, having kids? Do you feel you will never meet your life partner? This can be a hard place to be in. It can feel like you aren't moving forward in life as you thought you would. Maybe you are approaching your 30s or 40s and you think you should have been married by now. When will it ever happen? Will it ever happen? This thought can hold you back. It can make you believe you are less than. This comes down to self trust, self worth, self talk and (the big one) COMPARISON! This also puts limits on God. He has the ultimate plan for your life. He is always working behind the scenes. It's important to listen to God's voice during times like this. I share a chapter from my book "A God You've Never Met: Who is the Holy Spirit" about how to hear the voice of God. Join the Single Women Collective! Lauren Tomlin is a PRAYER WARRIOR which is why I called her for this series, because I wanted a friend to sit down with me and really talk about how to pray. If you've ever wondered if God actually hears you when you pray or if you can trust what you hear from God when you pray, this conversation is for you. If you feel overwhelmed by all of the hard happening around us, we're going to talk about how to pray. If you've wondered how to discern what God's telling you, we're going there too. And if you just need a minute to sit with God, Lauren's going to lead us through a guided prayer at the very end. I don't want you to miss it. . . . . Thank you to our sponsors! Let's be honest. When God feels silent, your brain does not stay neutral. It fills in the blanks. And most of the time? It fills them in wrong. In this episode with Autumn Miles, we're talking about the five sneaky beliefs that MANY people experience that can start surfacing when we don't feel clarity, confirmation, or that familiar sense of God's nearness. These aren't dramatic, obvious lies. They're subtle. They sound spiritual, or at least humble. And they quietly distort how we hear Him, and how we view ourselves. If you've ever thought, “Why does this feel harder than it should?” — this one's for you.-------------------------------------✈️ Come to Greece with Me!We're walking where the Bible happened—Athens, Corinth & Santorini!
