Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and they follow me." To hear the voice of Jesus Christ is to hear the actual Word of God. We must learn how to listen to God and cultivate an ear to hear from Him as He leads and guides us - this is what being a disciple is. This requires intentionality, as we meditate on His Word and not allow the pressures of the world to interfere with our decision-making. Ever felt like your faith was hanging by a thread—but you were too afraid to say it out loud?In this episode, I sit down with author, speaker, and spiritual guide Niki Hardy to talk about her newest book, God, Can We Chat?, and the freedom we find when we stop pretending everything's fine and bring our real questions to God.After walking through deep grief, spiritual burnout, and what she calls “death by a thousand paper cuts,” Niki realized that asking hard questions didn't mean she was losing her faith—it meant she was fighting for it.Together, we unpack:Why your doubts aren't dangerous—but actually essential to real faithHow to ask God hard questions without fear, guilt, or shameThe 5 lies we believe that keep us from honest conversations with GodThe CHAT framework to help you process pain with God (and not just about Him)Why Jesus gives you permission to wrestle, grieve, and not have it all figured outWhether you're grieving, burnt out, or secretly scared you're losing your faith—this conversation will remind you that God welcomes your questions and walks with you through the mess.✨ Quote to Remember:“God isn't intimidated by your questions—He's already holding space for them.”
Guest speaker Megan Fate Marshman joins Pastor Chad to talk about what it really means to trust God. Even when we hear God, we often think we walk alone, but we don't need to. God promises to be there, no matter where we are or what we're going through. We grow through our pain when we open our lives to trust Him. He prepares us for the future and leads us through the trials we don't see coming. God uses the good and the bad, and in it all, our greatest strength is when we call out to Him. To Become a Follower of Jesus, You Must Have Faith; and Your Faith Comes From YOU Hearing God's Word MESSAGE SUMMARY: Others to whom you minister, such as your children and friends, can her about the Lord and the Gospel from you – for the first time or in reinforcement; but they must hear for themselves and believe for themselves to be saved. Many of us first believed because of what our parents taught us; but then we heard for ourselves, and we believed. You cannot live on another's faith in Jesus. We must hear the Gospel for ourselves and come to the Lord in our own faith. As Paul tells us in Romans 10:16-17: “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?'. So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." You will stand before the Lord alone in judgment – you will speak for yourself with only Jesus to speak for you. Share God's good news with your family and friends so that they can hear and believe for themselves. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, fill me with the simple trust that even out of the most awful evil around me, you are able to bring great good — for me, for others, and for your great glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 91). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will seek God's perspective on my situation. For I know that in all things God works together for good to those of us who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Hearing the voice of God is the most significant task of all Christian discipleship. The beautiful, brilliant, powerful sound of God brings light into the cosmos, the sun, the moon and the stars. Not only does God speak, but when He speaks, the impossible becomes possible and logic gets defied. God's words in and of themselves contain everything that is needed for everything. The problem today is not that God is on mute, muzzled, shy and introverted, it is that we are busy, hurried, rush, distracted and got our headphones in. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”John 10:14-18We'd love for you to subscribe to our channel and turn on notifications to get updates on our latest content and resources that will help more people know Jesus and people know Jesus more.GIVE : We believe that generosity is golden. The story of Samuel in 1 Samuel 3 serves as a backdrop, illustrating how the word of the Lord can become rare when we're not attuned to His voice. Are we listening for God, or have we allowed His voice to become rare in our lives? The sermon emphasizes that God is constantly speaking, but we need to tune our spiritual ears to hear Him. Like adjusting a radio dial, we must intentionally tune out the noise of the world and our past to hear God clearly. This message encourages us to say, 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening,' and to expect God to communicate with us through His Word, through others, and through the promptings of the Holy Spirit. It's a call to actively engage in our faith, to keep pressing forward, and to trust God's truth over our circumstances. Send us a textEver notice how sacred moments often slip into your day when you least expect them—while folding laundry, stuck at a red light, or trying to fix something that feels out of control? In this conversation, we talk about what it means to say a “sacred yes”—to recognize God's presence in the now and choose trust over hesitation. These invitations rarely show up when life is neat and quiet. More often, they arrive right in the middle of the noise, asking us to pause, notice, and respond. Through Scripture, honest stories, and practical reflection, we open up about how powerful it can be to say yes, even when we feel unprepared. We talk about the things that often get in the way of our “yes”—exhaustion, fear, distraction, and the craving for certainty. But when we think of Isaiah's bold “Here I am” or Mary's quiet surrender, we're reminded that a sacred yes isn't about having all the answers. It's about being willing to notice God's presence and respond with an open heart, right where we are.Ready to discover the sacredness of the present moment? Father encourages us to listen to God. He really does speak to us.
If the goal of prayer is to delight in God's presence and develop deeper communion with Him, few of us want to settle for a one-sided relationship. At some point in our prayer journey, we'll want to actually hear from Him. This is what Scripture calls discernment. And while prayer is about delighting in our personal relationship with God by sharing our hearts with Him, it's also about learning His heart for us and for those around us. When we pray to discern God's heart, we're asking to know God's will. But we're also asking that God would form and shape us into the kinds of people who are actually capable of accomplishing it. This means discerning God's heart is less about finding the right path when faced with a decision and more about tuning our hearts and desires to God's heart and desires. This is partly what Jesus means when He tells His disciples to pray, “Your Kingdom come Your will be done…” (Matt. 6:10). Discerning God's heart is about surrendering our will to God's. We want His will, not ours, to be done in our lives, in the lives of those around us, and in our world. Praying this way is about alignment. We want to bend our desires to God's desires. And not just for ourselves. We want to develop the heart God has for those around us as well. We want to hear from God, we want to respond to His voice, and we want to become people who carry out His will.
As we continue our verse-by-verse series through the Gospel of John, Pastor Gabe teaches from John 10:22–42. In a world full of noise and confusion, Jesus—the Good Shepherd—calls us by name, invites us to hear His voice, and leads us into a life of deep relationship, identity, and ongoing response.
From Nathaniel Baldwin's kitchen-table invention of headphones in 1910 to today's ubiquitous AirPods, our relationship with audio has transformed dramatically. We're constantly plugged in, listening to something—but are we tuning into what matters most? The advancement of audio technology is a powerful metaphor for our prayer lives. While we've mastered the art of speaking to God—powering up, plugging in, calling out—many of us struggle with the essential step of listening for His response. As Jesus reminds us, "My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me" (John 10:27). This isn't just poetic language; it's an invitation to authentic relationship where we're not just doing all the talking.God speaks in myriad ways—through creation's magnificent sounds, through spiritual leaders and worship, through His still small voice, and most consistently through Scripture. The challenge isn't whether God is speaking (He is), but whether we're creating space to hear Him. Through the practical "Seek Him, Speak Him" approach, we learn to ask three powerful questions: What is God saying through this passage? Why does this truth matter? How should I respond? Each question creates a natural pause for listening. This practice isn't just for personal growth—it's something we're called to model for those we disciple. Whether in short car conversations, around the dinner table, or through family messages, we have daily opportunities to demonstrate what it looks like to not just talk at God but to engage in genuine two-way conversation with Him. When we listen together, we grow together, and we amplify God's voice to the next generation.Ready to transform your prayer life?
