Carol and Steve Stevenson are the rarest of rare commodities these days. A happily married couple that are not only still "sweethearts" (after 30 + years), but after having very successful careers and retiring to rural Wisconsin, they managed to construct an awesome legacy for future generations. It's a different sort of nest egg built on memories of days gone by and treasures from times long since passed. They are the owners, operators, and town officials for the Town of Stevenson Museum just outside of Richland Center in the little hamlet of Boaz. They are a gold mine of stories and artifacts that are guaranteed to make you smile. I had the joy of sitting down and talking with them both back in March while Steve and I sipped Scotch, Carol sipped some NA Wine and we relived the past together in all its grandeur. This unique museum is located on a 240 acre farm in the beautiful countryside of Richland County. Steve and Carol Stevenson have assembled a museum that houses items ranging from the late 1800's through the 1950's.Museum highlights include:A Military Display with uniforms going all the way back to the 19th CenturyA Police Department complete with a jail (so watch it or you'll end up behind bars)A Post Office, a Doctor's Office, a Room to Rent for 50 cents (I think that's in a song somewhere), a Fire Department with second-floor living quarters. a Barber Shop, General Store, a John Deere Dealership, a Ford Dealership, a Red Crown Gas Station (did you even know there ever was such a thing?), a Display Room with antique tools and toys, Santa's Toy Shop, a HUGE O-Gauge Train Display, a Radio Sales/Service Store, plus more Vintage Vehicle and Pedal Cars than you can shake a stick at. It's definitely worth the price of admission ($15) and well worth the drive. Thanks for listening. Please check out our website at www.forsauk.com to hear great conversations on topics that need to be talked about. In these times of intense polarization we all need to find time to expand our Frame of Reference.
