We love answering your questions, especially when it lets us don our tinfoil hat. Our first question this week was relatively straightforward: If you were to run a WoW TTRPG for a Horde campaign and an Alliance campaign, what would it be? With three hosts, there were six varied answers. We move from there to conflict among the Titans, and why some all-powerful beings might clash. Speaking of all-powerful, then we talk about the counterplay of the Light and the Void -- and the Naaru. Part of it is how the two forces interact, based on some of the earlier vignettes from the first few expansions of WoW. And how do all those forces relate to another magic force we've seen coursing inherently through all creatures through a few different expansions: Anima? It is a tin foil hat good time on this week's Lore Watch. If you want even more background story, we also have a guide to every Warcraft book in chronological order (for those of you who prefer reading that way).If you enjoy the show, please support us on Patreon, where you can get these episodes early and ad-free! Send a textWelcome to You Heard it Here Last where we talk about news, you've already heard.I evidently missed this announcement in November of 2025, so when I got the email from Backerkit about an upcoming launch I might be interested in, I was surprised. Traveller 5e from Mongoose Publishing was coming to Backerkit in March of 2026. https://www.backerkit.com/call_to_action/4bb4fe4f-753f-484d-8133-870c7c591797/landing?ref=home-pageMy first thought was they were printing a new edition of Traveller, but then I remembered Marc Miller had produced Traveller 5th Edition in 2013. Of course, Mongoose has taken over publishing, but they are in the 2nd edition…then it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was Traveller for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition.I'm sure if I tried real hard, I could come up with something more useless, but I gotta tell you, right now I'm out of ideas. What a complete waste.Traveller is an iconic roleplaying game with specific systems that work perfectly in that science fiction world it portrays. Rewriting the entire thing for D&D 5E … Stop it. Just Stop it. I know that 5E is the biggest selling game out there and I know this is just a money grab, but Damit people, open another roleplaying game book.I typically cheer for anything that brings more eyes to our hobby, but this isn't a rising tide, it's a tsunami destroying what's good about independent games and alternatives to D&D.I'm tapping out on this one.Christina, thoughts?[Kick to Christina]Mike[Kick to Mike]You might think after my lead in I would avoid all things Hasbro, but our next article from EN World is just too interesting to pass up. We've talked a lot about AI on our podcast and in Hasbro's latest earnings call Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks addressed the company's use of AI.https://www.enworld.org/threads/hasbro-ceo-says-ai-integration-has-been-a-clear-success.717852/“We're beyond experimentation. We're deploying AI across financial planning, forecasting, order management, supply chain operations, training and everyday productivity.” Cocks said. He also broke down how creatives use the tools.Mike, AI has recently become a huge part of your life and after diving into it and embracing it in the workforce you got promoted to COO. Briefly breakdown why AI is the future, whether we like it or not.[Kick to Mike]Christina hit us with the ethical issues[kick to Christina]And there you have it, all the news, you've already heard.

Andreas joins Chris Pramas, Jenn Ellis and Keith Baker, GMed by Brett King. So yes, Andreas is playing D&D in Eberron with Keith Baker, the creator of Eberron. Not daunting at all, not in any way...We're normally an actual play podcast where professional actors play the best of Swedish RPGs published in Swedish! But sometimes, Andreas does interviews with other people from the ttrpg community. This time he joins a D&D Eberron oneshot!Music by: Andreas Lundström
The Apocalypse Players — a Call of Cthulhu actual play podcast
In which Tatler descends and discovers, Redmark uses languages, Philips runs out of magic points and Felicity Blake returns in time to join Luther in a significant decision… A modern Call of Cthulhu Scenario by Joseph Chance Cast: Josephine Arundel & Felicity Blake – Belinda Cornish Chris Caldwell & Jonathan Tatler – Dan Wheeler Max Davenant & Tam Philips – Danann McAleer Charlie Westenra & Luther Eliot Redmark – Dominic Allen Keeper of Arcane Lore – Joseph Chance CW: This podcast contains mature themes, strong language and cosmic horror. This episode contains the sound of liquid entering other liquids (22 mins), performers eating cheese and speaking at the same time (19.20) and, once again, sounds of sexual intimacy . As ever, human discretion is advised. The Apocalypse Players is an actual play (or live play) TTRPG podcast focused on horror tabletop roleplaying games. Think Dimension 20 or Critical Role, but fewer dragons, more eldritch horrors, and more British actors taking their roleplaying very seriously (most of the time). We primarily play the Chaosium RPG Call of Cthulhu, but have also been known to dabble with other systems, most of which can be found on our Patreon: www.patreon.com/apocalypseplayers We now have a free Discord server where you can come and worship at the altar of the Apocalypse, play Call of Cthulhu online, and meet like-minded cultists who will be only too eager to welcome you into the fold. One of the great beauties of art is how different creators build upon their influences and contemporaries, creating layers that work together. We see it a lot in the TTRPG space, from shared mechanics, an influx of hacks and shared IPs, and so much cross-creation between mediums, be it books, video games, board games, and films. Tim Denee joins us today to talk about Blades '68, but the conversation turns to adaptations and interweaving that any avid RPG lover can learn from. He discusses how Blades '68 transports the universe of Blades in the Dark into a new era, playing on how our world could look like a science-fiction fantasy realm of its own, and he straddled the source material with his own personal approach. We're at a point where TTRPG's aren't being developed in a vacuum—the genre is sprawling and interweaving in ways that give creators, DMs, and players a lot of room to grow and play. It's a great inside look at how the most cutting-edge developers are working together to forge bigger and better universes than ever. Tim Denee is a designer who works on all sorts of projects, from book covers to websites and TTRPGs! He's well known for the acclaimed Deathmatch Island, and has a lot of great games in development outside of Blades '68, like Bloodred Clouds in the Western Sky and Unit-X. His highly stylized games blend genre and period perfectly to create really exciting games. This week, on the show, my brother and I are discussing a RPG system he created based on the world of The Thirteenth Hour. This is a work in progress based on a number of RPGs set in that world that we have already done but also with an eye toward creating your own world. In other words, it's meant to be light on rules and structure, heavy on customizability and individuality. So although you could create games based on the fantasy world in the Thirteenth Hour books, you could also use the engine to create games for your own books and worlds. Jeremy and I do the first of likely several of these over the next year as we do play testing with some new Thirteenth Hour RPGs. I have set up a page I will be adding to on itch.io that has the draft of the document we're discussing and will be the site of future updates.Check out Jeremy's work over at Pixel Grotto, CBR.com, and Classic Batman Panels on IG. If you are of the DnD persuasion, his articles on DnD Beyond may be right up your alley, and you can view his entire portfolio here. You can also check out his latest book, where he is a co-author: Pathfinder Adventure Path: No Breath to Cry, the ecology and exploration TTRPG with Three Sail Studios, Mappa Mundi, and their most recent game, Gallows Corner: A Peasants' Revolt RPG. It is out on most major streaming services such as Bandcamp, Spotify, and YouTube Music. Complexity is a double-edged sword, oftentimes more complex systems, like politics and law, make a TTRPG game feel more real and immersive... but at the same time, too complex systems make the game feel dragging and overbearing... So where is the middle ground? We talk about systems and how co0mplexity is a great lever for GMs to apply at the right moments, with the right amount of caution... its complicated okay?Check here for all further information:You can find us on the Web under these Links: https://www.doubledm.com/ https://bsky.app/profile/doubledm.bsky.socialhttps://www.instagram.com/doubledmpod/?hl=de https://ko-fi.com/doubledmIf you want to reach out to us via E-Mail use: doubledmpod@gmail.comOur Midroll Music is "Midnight Tale" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Our Outro Music is "Ascending the Vale" Kevin MacLeod (imcompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Hosted on Acast. One of the easiest ways to make your campaign and your setting feel real, immersive, and unique is by taking away the certitude that magic is always going to act the same way. This mysterious, world-altering energy should not ever be completely understood by your characters, as the discovery of it is a big part of the fun.In this episode, Tony, Chris, and Dave sit down to respond to a listener question about their homebrewed idea of making magic work differently in different areas of their world. They ask how we might approach it in our ever-growing, crowdsourced Boomtown campaign setting. 1:35 Our listener question from The OMG Father, Wyman!3:15 Simple ways to approach making magic change, altering Difficulty Classes and Damage output.4:15 DM Chris harkens back to the Green Lantern Corps and leans into our use of Components as trackable resources.6:05 How DM Dave altered magic in the world in our recent Dragonlance campaign.8:05 Making the zones of magic random, and DM Chris' concern of specifically targeting arcane casters.10:25 Motivating players to adventure by seeking tech.12:12 Employing more narratively focused elements by having the player and DM work together to create something new.16:45 Leaning into the resource management for spellcasting.21:45 Allowing the tech to be utilized by any character. A Gunslinger with a Staff of Healing? Why not?25:25 Good stories come from the characters having to struggle. Always beating the monsters is fun in a one-shot, but makes for a really boring campaign.26:35 DM Tony asks what the tech looks like in Boomtown?31:10 Charging up mundane tech… the Battery of the planet Oa and bringing in a usable Craft Item skill.35:50 Final Thoughts.
It's Unfathomable! That's our game for today and it is a tough one! Can our players make it to port safely, or will they be dragged into the depths by Lovcraftian monsters? And who amongst them is the traitor? Plus, we talk cartoons and Muppets.
Welcome to the Jaunty Mantis Mothership RPG Actual Play series! This is Part 2 and the chilling conclusion. Mothership is a sci-fi horror tabletop roleplaying game focused on survival, panic, and cosmic dread. Previously, the crew boarded a long-lost colony ship that vanished three centuries ago with 1,000 souls in cryosleep. Fired from a massive railgun and tasked with offering a corporate “resettlement package” to any survivors, the team quickly realized that this derelict ark holds more questions than answers. Strange behavior. Failing systems. Missing time. And when one crew member disappears without explanation, paranoia has begun to set in.
