1985, Maine. "According to police, inroads are still being made into the case of four murdered teens from the small town of Mason's Bay. Witnesses have reported increased police activity in an apparent cavern system beneath the scene of the crime, and just last night gunshots were reported from the area. An anonymous source has informed us that in addition to federal support, two locals are also involved in the case, one child reporter and an herbalist from the area. It is as of now unknown if they are suspects or witnesses, but either way, they're quite a motley crew. You're listening to WPIO radio. Hello and welcome back to a show where we remember when McDonald’s had the Muppet Babies toys in the happy meals and they were awesome, or as we like to call it Now That I’m Older! This week on episode #195, we discuss festivals. Going to them, the kinds of stuff we can buy at them, the people you meet at them and how Kenny refuses to go to any of them because everyone smells bad, according to him. Then later on, we discuss a potty incident with Shane’s son, and a time where he broke his finger during a rainstorm! This week we shouted out these #PodernFamily shows; Jump In, Michael Podcast; howimetyourfriendspod and The Littlest Podcast and we spun promos for: The Stranger Lands and Poop Culture! So go check out, them out, AFTER you're done listening to NTIO! And this week's show goes to the guy who has to buy new decorations for every holiday. We know how it is. Your girl loves the holidays and every time a holiday passes, she has to go buy more holiday stuff. I mean, it's not like we don't have enough ceramic pumpkins and little ghosts or goblins! I mean you could definitely use another Snow Man or Santa Claus. There's always a door, or a mantle, with a spare shred of room on it that could be filled with some holiday trinket! So this one's for your Holiday Decor Guy! Thanks a lot guys and have a great week! We're back after a week off and coming at you with more of my personal favorite: Warhammer 40K lore. The Warhammer canon is so chock full of good stuff it's hard to decide what to talk about, but we brought on a very special guest from the Stranger Lands podcast (https://thestrangerlands.com/) Murphy Giller! Murphy's an expert on the Imperium and the Horus Heresy, and he's here to tell us a few things about it.We talk about how many licks it would take to get to the center of Mars, an Orgy Continent on Party Planet, Benedict Cumberbatch becoming a Primarch, and what the job details of being a "post-punch" mayor are. So strap on in and buckle up as we try and impose order on this bad-boy of a universe. As always, anyone looking to help out the show make sure to follow us and leave a review on iTunes and across all our social media, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Matt sat down with disability advocate, educator, public speaker and podcaster Jahmeelah Gamble. If you like going down rabbit holes, this is the episode for you. We chatted about balancing conflicting cultural expectations in an educational context, accidently landing a TV show for 6 seasons and the ways Jahmeelah has endeavored to be a humanist rather than a knight in shining armor. Matt shares a little confession, while Jahm talks about her brand. Spoiler: it’s intersectional-reflexive applied empathetic-humanism! Matt also gets Jahm to explain how and why she became such a strong education advocate and how advocacy extends well beyond the classroom to permeate all aspects of life. As a public speaker, Jahmeelah shies away from intentionally trying to inspire while being mindful of the power in setting an example. Wrapping up the conversation, Matt explores how Jahm’s faith intersects with her speaking and advocacy. Jahm gives us an impassioned description of the struggles facing educational aid workers in Canada. Jahmeelah’s message of empowerment and positivity is downright infectious, so be sure to check out the Slay the Mic Podcast. Hang on to your Infinity Gauntlets. Grab your box of tissues. The Two Dads recap and review of 'Avengers: Infinity War' is here. Surprises were around every corner but none more than all the 'feels' this movie pushed onto us. This action packed romp, 10 years and 19 movies in the making, did not disappoint. This extra-long podcast covers everything we could think of. From back stories and tie-ins to the comics, our idea of what all that happened means and even our predictions of what the future Avengers movie will look like. One hint: AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! Special shoutouts to The Stranger Lands and the Aggravated Hour podcasts. Both were featured promos in this episode and fellow members of the '**Legion of Independent Podcasts**.'
Hello and welcome to a show where the hosts remember when the Fonz could magically make the jukebox work, by smacking it (but only in syndication...how old do you think we are...geez!) or as they like to call it, Now That I'm Older! This week we jump into a story about a Math teacher that hated Shane and puppies and sunshine. Then we move on to talking about some of the clandestine activities we pulled as kids. These included stealing pumpkins, property damage with a pumpkin, and taking an S-Curve at 90 mph in Kenny's Volvo! Then we close the show, talking about a criminal who would like to be sneaky, but with a tattoos on his face and neck, he's not very good at it! This week we shouted out the following #PodernFamily shows: Cozy Corner Podcast; Freaking the F*ck Out and Murder We Wrote Podcast and we spun promos for BSPodPhx and The Stranger Lands. So check these shows out next week! This week's show goes out to anyone in the audience who loves cilantro in their Mexican but has a significant other that hates it. Here's to a lifetime of cilantro-less guacamole for you, while your wife whines that it tastes like dish soap! So here's to you No Cilantro Guy!
