We know we know- we've been gone a hot minute. Hannah + Michele have had lots of pivots in their life so they had to put focus on where they were flowing to. But now- we had some space to talk about how it is in practicing the art of pivoting, or changing your game plan/path/etc. Also, how to have a little grace and compassion for yourself, or others, as you make those shifts. We of course got off on to another tangent (squirrel) so we are BACK! Hehe! Check it out and let us know what you think!
In this episode Hannah talks about her wild roots and how yoga saved her. Jack Daniel's, dancing on bars, Beth Dutton attitude, and sheriff backseat drives were her rock bottom. Yoga pulled her up from that dirty floor, dusted her off and helped her see that she was always enough.
In this very unpolished episode Hannah and Michele talk about the glamorous life of owning a studio as they sat around 6 buckets catching dirty rain water from the ceiling… yep. There was literally a rain cloud in the studio. Such a glamorous life… enjoy the chaos
TRIGGER WARNING: Michele talks in detail about her PTSD reaction to touch at the eye doctor and also about the fat phobia she experienced during that visit. Feel free to listen in sections, Michele had to record it that way to work through the emotional parts. Enjoy.
In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Ishvara Pranidhana + Surrender. We had to surrender to this episode because we had already recorded it 2 other times and each time technology kicked us in the booty! So, we talk about how life presents us many opportunities to surrender. Ishvara Pranidhana translates to surrendering to God. When we surrender, we find ease and get in the flow, making it easier for us to be present and to experience the Divine. Why don't we surrender more? Because it is NOT easy and this is why this is the last Niyama. It's a practice that's for sure and we are always working on surrendering to life. What about you? In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Svadhyaya + Self-Study. Welcome to the Sh!t Show ha! It was a wild conversation with lots of hiccups, but hey- we learned something about ourSelves right?! Svadhyaya is self study, the chance to look at the labels on our boxes of ourSelves and maybe unpack them. See what works for us and what no longer serves us. It's a journey to the gold and we are in it for the long run. Or are we running? It all depends on your perspective (and the day). So sit back and join us for this comical journey of ourSelves hehe! In this episode of Soul Solo Hannah talks about how being a Mama to her sweet son River has helped her learn a little more about walking this path of yoga on a deeper level. How yoga is so much more than the asana and what you can learn off the mat.
In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Tapas + Transformation. Tapas, literally meaning heat, and how the heat of the fire can create that transformation that we need. The catalyst for change and clarity. We talk about the importance of controlled burns and the beauty that comes afterwards. Sometimes we have to be patient (ewww), but that patience allows us to fully blossom. We also discuss ways in which we can center ourSelves so we can sit with Tapas and transform. Like the Rising Phoenix from the ashes. If you are interested in learning more about the Yamas + Niyamas, Deborah Adele's book has changed our lives. Today, Michele is solo and talking about how to deal with your family during the holidays. Michele discusses boundaries, safe words and knowing when to STFU or not. It's truly up to you as you are the only one you can control. Enjoy.
In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Santosha + Finding Contentment. How can we find contentment in our physical body, our mental mind, and our energetic Self or Spirit Self. We talk about living in a place of lack and how the opposite of that is truly contentment rather than abundance. Living in a place where we may be content in the emotional work of trying to get someone to meet us at our level, BUT what does that truly do, keep us out of true contentment because we are trying to change someone. How we tend to move towards the things we like, perhaps too often. When we do this we can forget about the things we dislike, which we may need, and in turn fall out of alignment with our true Self. Our goal in yoga, and in life, is to try and find that place of sattva- or neutral. As Ram Dass says the "ah so." "When it rains, I let it." In this episode you get an introduction of Hannah. Her love for her family, books, and yoga! She could honestly talk about yoga ALL DAY LONG but she tried to break it down for you amazing souls to see how healing yoga can be, and has been, for her finding her true Self- scattered, smothered, covered, and a side of country. Hope you enjoy!
In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Saucha + Purifying. In what ways do we weigh ourSelves down with things that really aren't for our highest good. We talk about how the lovely C taught us a lot about what was no longer serving us. We also talk about how important it is to purify our thoughts, mind, and spirit. In the West we get so caught up on the physical and outward appearance, but when we clean up the inside- it permeates to the outside. When we clear ourSelves of these things that don't serve us, we open up more space for healing, health, joy, peace, and overall love. THIS is what brings us closer to the Divine and that Divine lives right there within us all. If you are interested in learning more about the Yamas + Niyamas, Deborah Adele's book has changed our lives. In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Aparigraha (non-attachment) + Clinging. In what ways do we cling to thoughts, ideas, people, items, situations, money, youth, etc? We talk about it all! When we spend all of our energy clinging to something, we miss out on the other beautiful moments of life- we are constricting ourSelves rather than living in expansion. We don't know about you, but we would rather live in expansion. So join us on this journey of what we are attached to, how we notice it, work with it, and perhaps even shift it into creating space and freedom for ourSelves. If you are interested in learning more about the Yamas + Niyamas, Deborah Adele's book has changed our lives. In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Brahmacharya (non-excess) + Overdoing. Brahmacharya is defined as non-excess. It literally translates to "walking with God". We discuss many different ways we can live in excess physically, mentally, and energetically- and one of those is overdoing. We also talk about overeating, overspending, overworking out, and more. We also talk about how we have pulled it in and where we have seen where we have missed out on the little bliss moments of life- walking with God. Brahmacharya invites us to look inward and to try and find balance, sattva (neutral). And whewwww in this episode you will hear how it is an ON GOING practice in our own lives. In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Asteya (non-stealing) + Thievery. Asteya is defined as non-stealing. How many different ways can we steal from others, the Earth, and ourSelves? There's lots. We talk about stealing joy, happiness, anger, sadness, time, energy, ideas, words, concepts, and much more. We also talk about how not embodying what we are teaching is thievery as well as being inauthentic (see how it goes back to Satya- truthfulness and Ahimsa- being kind to ourSelves). In this episode, Hannah + Michele talk about Satya (Yama, of the 8 Limbs of Yoga) + Integrity- oooof! Satya is defined as truthfulness, truth. We talk about how to be truthful with others, ourselves, avoid "shoulding" on ourselves, how we can show up in truth yet still be kind, be real rather than nice, and how to walk in our own truth (integrity) when the going gets rough (practicing ahimsa with ourSelves) by integrating our truth into our reality. We hope you enjoy it! Bloopers included - we are unpolished and real haha! If you are interested in learning more about the Yamas + Niyamas, Deborah Adele's book has changed our lives.
