Greg and Tonya spend time each week talking together about things that have been a part of their life journey and answering the various questions that have been posed to them along the way.
In this episode we talk about trust and betrayal. What good can come from living under the shroud of difficulty and persecution. What can come of struggling in the darkness? How do we know who we can trust to guide us through it? Or even so, how can we have hope that there is something on the other side worth striving for?
In this episode, Greg and Tonya talk about the problem of the human condition. We look at Psalm 78 and James 4 and talk about how war is not just something that's happening uniquely in Ukraine right now. We look at the human heart and explore how individual wars grow into larger conflicts. We also look at the constant exposure from media and our access to real time visual violence through social media and the effect it has on us and our children. Some questions we explore are:What is the nature of war and where does it come from? How does God use larger conflicts like this to help expose humanities need for him?How do you talk to your young child about this?

There was chaos, divergent claims about beliefs and politics were in full swing while thousands of people were all over the city. People rioted, people were arrested and people even died. Leaders pushed narratives that served their own desires and wishes. While some searched for truth others were left caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. Two Men had enough of it and left town. As they walked, eventually, they found themselves talking with a stranger on the road to Emmaus.
Today we discuss the stresses of integrating into a new environment. How our country moved from two very distinct systemically divided cultures into one whole and how the stress of that still lingers today and is part of the upheaval that is currently around us. What is systemic racism? How much of it endures today? How should we see others in relationship to ourselves and how we should respond to what we see in society? How do we assimilate and become one Nation together again? What is working and what do we need to do to bring a healthy work moving forward?
Today we continue our discussion from last week and turn to the question of today’s push to pull down statues, desecrate graves, and rebrand products all in the name of cleansing all that is a reminder of the evils of our society. Do we have to burn down the past in order to move into a better future? We discuss the mob mentality that is destroying everything around us and the battle to have constructive conversations as well as make healthy progress toward a better country. Are there any real benefits to destroying every evil monument? Is there a better way? What’s the risk of burning it all down?
We are struggling with the idea of how we deal with the past in relationship to the upheaval that we are dealing with in today’s American culture. We discuss how people tolerated the belief that slavery was okay while still claiming to be Christians. Is that even possible? We look at the beliefs of some of our nation’s forefathers and the tensions that they lived in as they tried to forge a better world. How do we move ahead? What should be our focus?
Is this the apocalypse or just another turn of the historical wheel. Tonya and Greg look what comes up every time a little chaos comes along in history. We look at what king Solomon has to say on the subject and what we need to be mindful of as we approach the days ahead.
