Your favorite psychologists, John Gartner and Harry Segal, review the insidious way the Trump administration is using the Kirk assassination to end freedom of speech. They are joined again by Dr. Vince Greenwood, an expert on psychopathy, who shines a spotlight on Trump's criminal behavior. Be sure to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: Our site Subscribe on iTunes Subscribe on Spotify Subscribe on Amazon Music Subscribe on iHeartRadio The episode opens with a stark diagnosis: Trump's behavior reflects a dangerous blend of malignant narcissism and sociopathy. Gartner and Segal argue that his compulsive lying, criminality, and relentless attacks on institutions aren't just political tactics—they're symptoms of a deeper pathology. These traits, they warn, fuel a pattern of authoritarian maneuvering that threatens the very fabric of democratic society. One of the most chilling segments centers on the political exploitation of tragedy. In the wake of Charlie Kirk's murder, Trump and his allies swiftly weaponized the event to stoke anti-left sentiment and suppress dissent. Gartner and Segal dissect this response as a textbook example of fear-based control, where grief is hijacked to justify repression. They argue that this tactic not only deepens national division but also corrodes core democratic principles like free speech and pluralism. The conversation then turns to media complicity. The psychologists critique how certain outlets, under financial or ideological pressure, have surrendered their independence and become echo chambers for Trump's narrative. This media capture, they contend, is not incidental—it's strategic. By dominating the information ecosystem, Trump consolidates power and silences opposition, turning journalism into a tool of authoritarian control. Joining the discussion is Dr. Vince Greenwood, who offers a clinical assessment of Trump as a psychopath. Drawing on established diagnostic criteria, Greenwood highlights traits like impulsivity, lack of remorse, and a compulsive need to dominate. While these traits have helped Trump rise, Greenwood warns they may also be his undoing. The very pathology that fuels his power could expose vulnerabilities—cracks in the armor of authoritarianism. The episode closes with a call to action. Gartner and Segal urge listeners to stay vigilant, resist normalization, and confront the psychological tactics that enable authoritarian rule. Understanding the cognitive and behavioral patterns of leaders, they argue, isn't just academic—it's essential to defending democracy. Tune in next week for another gripping, clinically grounded exploration of power, pathology, and the urgent need to protect democratic values from psychological manipulation. Join Jim and Greg for the Thursday 3 Martini Lunch as they break down the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel, Barack Obama's claims that he never politicized tragedy, and the evil deeds of the guy first suspected of killing Charlie Kirk.First, they examine ABC/Disney's decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel off the air after his brazen lie that Charlie Kirk was murdered by a MAGA supporter. With affiliate stations preparing to boycott Kimmel, ABC pulled the plug. The story gets more complicated because Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr seems to have been involved in trying to get Kimmel canceled. Jim argues the government should have stayed out of it but makes clear he won't be shedding any tears for Kimmel.Next, they react to former President Barack Obama chiding Republicans over their response to Kirk's murder while insisting he never used tragedies for political gain. Jim and Greg highlight multiple examples where Obama did just that and Jim shares insights about where Obama really stands among Democrats these days. Finally, they explain how the first suspect arrested after Kirk's murder is clearly a horrible person, even if he didn't pull the trigger. Jim and Greg reveal why the man claimed to be the shooter in the immediate aftermath and what horrifying content police found on his phone. Please visit our great sponsors:If your business can't adapt in real-time, you're in a world of hurt. What happens when a book about sex work, patriarchy, and motherhood collides with our own messy stories of choice, pregnancy, and parenting? Pure Real Talk and the reality: Motherhood is never simple. In this episode, Stacy and Daynah dive into *spoiler alert* Margo's Got Money Trouble and end up everywhere from pottery-as-therapy and day drinking confessions to abortion stigma, single mom survival, and postpartum euphoria (yes, it's real). They unpack the way beauty is currency, the patriarchy still shapes every decision, and how women just keep holding it all together. And because it's us, we also detour through tramp stamps, 90s nostalgia, and the pop culture comfort food of Netflix binges. It's sharp, heartfelt, occasionally irreverent, and exactly the kind of conversation your group text wishes it was having. Content Warning: This episode discusses topics related to pregnancy, including personal decisions around abortion. If these subjects feel overwhelming, please take care of yourself. According to The Daily Mail, Stern found out via a Google Alert during a “team building” party with staff. Some estimates suggest Stern was making as much as $120 million per year. 3:30pm- Press Conference: Five soldiers were shot at Fort Stewart in Georgia—the shooter is in custody. 3:40pm- During an interview with Laura Ingraham on Monday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard called out legacy media outlets for promoting the Russiagate hoax—explaining that they operated as a “propaganda arm of the deep state.” 3:55pm- Rich had a wardrobe malfunction while at Fox News—but don't worry, it wasn't quite as bad as Janet Jackson's Super Bowl disaster. 4:05pm- Michael O'Neil—Vice President of Legal Affairs at Landmark Legal Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest article for The Washington Examiner, “Don't Appoint a Special Counsel to Investigate the Russia Collusion Hoax.” Read the full article here: https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2025/aug/4/dont-appoint-special-counsel-investigate-russia-collusion-hoax/. 4:30pm- During an interview with Laura Ingraham on Monday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard called out legacy media outlets for promoting the Russiagate hoax—explaining that they operated as a “propaganda arm of the deep state.” 4:45pm- George Bochetto—Attorney & former U.S. Senate Candidate—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his tireless fight to protect Columbus Day in Philadelphia. In a unanimous decision earlier today, the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court ruled that former Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney's 2021 executive order replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day is invalid—noting that the order amounted to lawmaking without input from Philadelphia City Council and, consequently, violated the City Charter. 5:00pm- While speaking with Kaitlan Collins on CNN, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett baselessly accused Donald Trump supporters of being “low IQ.” 5:10pm- In response to Texas's redistricting attempt, Governor Gavin Newsom has pledged to redistrict California—presumably removing several Republican congressional seats. Interestingly, Republicans currently hold just 17% of the congressional seats in CA—despite nearly 40% of the state voting for Donald Trump in 2024. Doesn't that suggest the state is already heavily gerrymandered? Comparatively, Democrats currently hold 32% of the House seats in Texas (with one vacant seat in a district that is reliably blue—so, the real number is closer to 34%). Kamala Harris won 42% of the Texas statewide vote in 2024. 5:30pm- From the White House on Tuesday, President Donald Trump—alongside Apple CEO Tim Cook, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick—announced that Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in domestic manufacturing, assuring that more of the company's supply chain will be based in the United States. Cook and Apple now plan to invest a total of $600 billion in U.S. manufacturing. 6:05pm- Jimmy Failla—Fox News Host & Author of Cancel Culture Dictionary—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Lizzo vs Sydney Sweeney, Howard Stern's show being reportedly canceled by SiriusXM, and loincloths! CBS canceling Stephen Colbert's late night show -- ten months from now -- has been treated like the "dismantling" of the Constitution, and democracy itself. Liberals act like they alone represent the First Amendment and democracy, and whenever someone cancels a TV show, it must be a craven attempt to curry favor with a "fascist." Socialists fuss that "corporate masters" don't have the courage to rip Trump 24/7 as they wish.
On this week's episode, Sonny Bunch (The Bulwark), Alyssa Rosenberg (The Washington Post), and Peter Suderman (Reason) discussed the cancellation of The Late Show. Is this move being motivated by politics or the declining economic prospects of linear TV more broadly? Then they reviewed Eddington, Ari Aster's gonzo look at life in 2020, the year of Covid and The Doomscroll. Join Jim and Greg for Friday's 3 Martini Lunch as they explain how much they won't miss The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Zohran Mamdani's inability to understand why we need prisons, and a Philadelphia high school's attempt to cancel Benjamin Netanyahu..First, while they don't celebrate job losses, Jim and Greg welcome the news that CBS is shutting down The Late Show next year. They explain how Colbert and his peers poisoned late night television with relentless left-wing politics. The move comes the same day Congress officially defunds PBS and NPR, a major conservative goal for decades.Next, they react to Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, who questions whether prisons serve any real purpose and suggests people only support them for emotional reasons. And don't look now, but more and more mainstream Democrats are embracing Mamdani. Jim and Greg also laugh at GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa's brutally honest take on the legacies of Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo..Finally, they shake their heads as Cheltenham High School near Philadelphia considers a student petition to remove a picture of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from the school's hall of fame. This leads Jim and Greg into a conversation about high school halls of fame and what criteria should be required for getting removed from a hall of fame. Please visit our great sponsors:If your business can't adapt in real-time, you're in a world of hurt. In this timely solo episode, Chanie Wilschanski shares a powerful leadership truth every school owner and director needs to hear as the new year begins: what you tolerate in August becomes the culture you're stuck managing by February. This isn't just a motivational pep talk—it's a wake-up call. As classrooms buzz with fresh energy and bulletin boards get a glow-up, your old leadership reflexes start creeping back in. The skipped 1:1s, the ignored red flags, the well-meaning rescues? They're not small moments. They're culture-setting decisions that will quietly shape your entire year. You'll learn how to lead with rhythm instead of reactivity, shift your team's expectations through consistency (not speeches), and install rituals that hold your culture steady—even when the chaos kicks in.What You'll LearnWhy back-to-school energy masks deeper leadership reflexesThe invisible patterns that shape school culture more than your speechesThe difference between rescuing and rhythm—and how to choose wiselyHow to stop trading your boundaries for short-term order3 specific August moves that build long-term ease and clarityHow to lead without becoming the emotional center of your schoolKey Insights1. Culture Isn't Built by What You Say—It's Built by What You NormalizeThe kickoff speech doesn't shape the culture. What you protect and what you let slide in August quietly creates the tone your team will carry into February.2. Rescuing in August = Burnout by OctoberJumping in every time someone is overwhelmed might feel helpful—but it silently teaches your team that leadership equals emotional labor and unpredictability.3. Back-to-School Is Not a Fresh Start—It's a MirrorYour patterns will show up early. Canceling a 1:1, skipping an accountability moment, or “letting it slide” may seem harmless, but they're the seeds of future burnout.4. Leadership Happens in Repetition, Not ReactionWhat you do consistently is what your team learns to expect. Stop trying to be everywhere—start being predictable in the right places.Try This Instead: 3 August Shifts That Anchor Long-Term CultureIf you want this year to feel different, you don't need a new checklist. You need a new rhythm. Here are three moves to make in August that will shape your leadership for the rest of the year:1. Protect One Ritual at All CostsChoose one leadership rhythm—like weekly 1:1s, classroom walks, or a team huddle—and commit to protecting it. Even in chaos. Especially in chaos. It tells your team: “We don't abandon connection when things get busy. We anchor in it.”2. Install a Weekly “Culture Check”Every Friday, ask yourself:What did I tolerate this week? What did I repeat on purpose? What culture am I writing through my actions?Culture isn't what you say on Monday. It's what you normalize all week.3. Anchor Your Own EnergyPick one small rhythm that fuels you—like a lunch walk, a 5-minute journaling practice, or a coffee check-in with a mentor.Because when you're regulated, you lead from vision—not vigilance.Memorable Quotes“Leadership isn't what you say—it's what you normalize.” – Chanie Wilschanski “You don't need more visibility. You need more predictability.” – Chanie Wilschanski “Excellence is built through rhythm, not reaction.” – Chanie WilschanskiWhy It Matters for School LeadersPrevents emotional and operational burnout midyearCreates team-wide predictability, not dependencyShifts the culture silently—through consistent, visible...
