Welcome to Beer Space Nine! Brooke and Barron review and discuss episodes of Star Trek while getting tipsy on weird beers. And sometimes wine. Join us as we make our way through every episode from every iteration of the Star Trek universe!!
This week we watch one of our favorite episodes, Tapestry. We learn about Picard's youthful history of fighting and cheating at Space Pool!! We also learn Worf's father may be alive!!! Dun Dun DUUUNNNNNN!! Also, Data starts dreaming!!!
Our second episode back from lockdown and we have a terrible one and a great one!! First, Geordi falls in love with a woman before meeting her AGAIN. (Geez Geordi, get it together.) Then Counselor Troi awakens to find herself a ROMULAN!! DUN DUN DUUUUNNNN!!!
Barron and Brooke are back after not seeing each other for MONTHS!! Sure we could have recorded over Zoom but we are really no good at that. We've got the last half of Picard getting tortured by a crazy Romulan! We've also got the return of Data's foe Moriarty!! We missed you guys!!
So, this was the last episode we recorded before lockdown. Like 3 days before the state went into lockdown. Geordi deals with some robots, and Picard goes on a mission against the Romulans!!
It's a whimsical couple episodes on TNG this week. We get two basically funny episodes in a row. First, Captain Picard, Ro, Keiko, and Guinan all get turned into little kids. (Barron's not happy, he is not a fan of kids.) Then Data fucks up the holodeck while Worf, Alexander, and Deanna are trying to have a good time.
Aliens are abducting Commander Riker and doing experiments on him when TNG does its very on alien abduction episode!! How very 90s of them. Then Q is back to investigate a young girl who just might, herself, be Q. Also, Brooke swears this episode aired on Halloween in 1992 and doesn't care what IMDB says!!
This week TNG has a pretty terrible episode followed by a great episode. The return of Scotty!!! Also, Barron tells Brooke it is our 3 year podcast anniversary! Yaayy!!
We're back!! We aren't dead!! And we're still drinking beer and talking about Star Trek! Finally starting TNG season 6. First up we find out just what Data's head was doing in 1800s San Francisco. Then we watch Lt Barclay have a panic attack over possible transporter psychosis. Yay it's good to be back!!
Merry Christmas Eve everybody! We are finally at The Inner Light!! One of the best episodes of TNG ever!! We also have Time's Arrow Part 1, one of Brooke's favorites. At the end of season 5, next week season 6!
We're back!! This week we drink liquor and discuss two great TNG episodes!!! Geordi makes friends with a line Borg, and then he an Ro get caught in a transporter malfunction and are presumed dead!! Also Brooke coughs a lot.
This week Professor X and Jean Grey sort of hook up, when Picard falls for a special empath played by Famke Janssen. Also, a random kid gets a murderous imaginary friend.
This week TNG is giving us both a Wesley episode AND a Lwaxana episode. It's Barron's worst nightmare. Actually we both like the Wesley episode and Brooke likes Lwaxana so luckily we're not both miserable!!
This week we have one of the top 10 episodes of TNG to discuss!! Too bad we have to suffer through The Outcast first. Ugh. We don't like it. Let us tell you why!! But we LOVE Cause and Effect. Also we're less drunk this week. Not sure if that makes us better, though.
We're back!! Brooke has no more sisters who want to get married so we should be back weekly! This week we both get super drunk while talking about TNG. Troi, Data, and O'Brien all get possessed by ghosts from a weird moon. And Barron is happy because we have a Worf episode!! Poor Worf breaks his back! Will he survive?
This week on Beer Space Nine the Enterprise encounters an insular society entirely built on genetic engineering. But they're about to be DESTROYED BY AN ASTEROID!!! Dun Dun DUUUNNN!!! Then the entire crew gets their memories wiped, and they must figure out who they are before they figure out what's going on.
Data, once again, gets a confused kid as a protege. And then we have a mind....probe....episode. Minds are probed against their wills...
The Enterprise is visited by a time traveler from the future sent back to observe Captain Picard's decision making during a crisis. And Worf is visited by his son who intends to stay. Worf, take care of your kid!!!
In part one Spock (SPOCK!) is accused of betraying the Federation and Picard goes to see Sarek one last time. In part two Picard teams up with Spock (SPOCK!) and hangs with some Romulans.
This week in the TNG universe Captain Picard gets trapped in an elevator with a bunch of kids while Counselor Troi has to command the ship. Also, Worf delivers a baby. Pretty much everyone's worst nightmare. Then Wesley returns (Barron's worst nightmare), and hooks up with Ashley Judd while the whole ship becomes addicted to a video game with bad graphics.
This week in TNG we get the first appearance of the Bajorans AND Ensign Ro. Also the Cardassians are dicks. And the return of the Crystaline Entity brings a woman bent on revenge. And better special effects than the last time we saw the Crystaline Entity.
We kick off season 5 of TNG with two great episodes! Start off fast and furious with more Klingon intrigue and the appearance of mysterious Romulan. Then we have a great character study when Picard learns to trust and communicate with a new people.
Bringing season 4 of TNG to a close, we have Data getting a girlfriend (again), and lots of Klingon intrigue. Barron loves those Worf episodes.
We have reached our 100th episode!! Never thought we'd get this far. Also, we both forgot until we were recording...Anyway, this week Doctor Crusher gets a mysterious boyfriend, and poor Geordi gets kidnapped for the first of many times.
We get a couple of great guest stars this week! First in The Drumhead Picard goes up against Jean Simmons, yet another of Star Trek's crazy admirals. (Seriously, you don't want to be an admiral in Starfleet.) Then Lwaxana Troi falls in love with a doomed man played by David Ogden Stiers in Half a Life. Some dramatic moments for us!!
Barclay is back!! This time he gets Flowers for Algernoned. Guy really can't seem to catch a break! Also, Q is back!! He seems to have a thing for Robin Hood. And Worf is most definitely NOT a merry man!!
This week the crew of the Enterprise lose their ability to sleep causing crankiness to abound. Except for Deanna who has dreams about hydrogen. The Geordi starts turning into another creature! Can they save him in time?
This week we talk about TNG episode First Contact. Not THAT First Contact. Sadly no Vulcans this time. Then we have the return of Leah Brahms, who is not as happy with Geordi as he is with her.
The crew of the Enterprise encounters the devil, or someone claiming to be the devil. Sadly no one bets a fiddle of gold. Then, a TNG mystery!! Everyone was knocked out for 30 seconds...or was it a little bit longer? What happened while they were supposedly asleep? Join us while we drink liquor and we discuss!
And TNG brings it back this week with two good ones in a row!! First we spend 24 hours with Data as he tries to navigate the mind field that is human emotion. And then we meet the Cardassians for the first time while trying to avert a war!
Well...season four of TNG had to stumble eventually, and Brooke and Barron are not the biggest fans of these two episodes. Although Barron is positively gleeful that Wesley is leaving the ship to head off to Starfleet Academy. Brooke is a little more somber about it. Then we have Counselor Troi going apeshit when she loses her empathic abilities. And, as always, we drink liquor and are merry.
Worf's lady is back!! Bringing a KID with her...And the Klingons are once again fighting over who will run the high counsel. Riker, meanwhile, wakes up in a future he doesn't remember, with a kid and in command of the Enterprise. And Barron claims it was all stolen from an episode of GI Joe. GO JOE!!
Crew members start disappearing and Doctor Crusher is the only one who notices in Remember Me. The we meet Tasha Yar's long lost sister in Legacy. And Brooke keeps drinking wine. She swears she'll get back to beer when the weather gets nicer. Barron, as always, drinks whisky.
Lore is back!! And we meet Data's father in Brothers. Then Picard bonds with a human orphan in Suddenly Human. Family is a major theme suddenly on TNG.
"And now the conlusion..." Season four of TNG comes in strong with the second half of Best of Both Worlds! We also see the aftermath of the Borg in Family when Picard goes to visit his brother.
This week we muddle through Tansfigurations, seriously Brooke doesn't even remember this episode existing, in order to get to one of the best episodes of TNG ever!!! Best of Both Worlds Part 1!! Picard is captured by the Borg!! Cliff hanger!! We're very excited, clearly.
This week a little bit of TOS joins TNG when Sarek comes on board the Enterprise. Then we get the Ferengi trying to make it with Lwaxana. Another good one and not so good one in season three of Star Trek the Next Generation.
Captain Picard is over worked and over tired and forced to go on shore leave. The Enterprise crew should realize by now that evil forces always lurk whenever they go on shore leave! Luckily for Picard he meets a mysterious woman and gets to go on an adventure! Then an old patient of Troi's comes aboard the ship to help them find a mysterious living ship and fight the Romulans. Getting toward the end of TNG season 3!
This week Barron is happy because we have a Worf episode!! Worf meets the brother he never knew he had and drama ensues. This episode effects Klingon relations in many episodes to come! Captain Picard also gets kidnapped and an imposter takes his place this week. We're having a lot of fun with TNG season three.
This week we have one of the absolute best episodes of TNG ever, Yesterday's Enterprise!! History is rewritten and the Federation is at war. Pretty sure we just gush about it for 25 minutes. And you know what? The Offspring isn't bad as well. Data creates a daughter. Seriously if you haven't watched either of those episodes in a while, go back and watch them now!
Guess who's back...back again. Q is back. Tell a friend. We discuss another classic season 3 TNG episode Deja Q! And Star Trek does Rashomon with A Matter of Justice. Brooke's dog is a special guest star this week, and we get cut off a bit at the end due to the dog's antics. But she's so cute we forgive her!
This week we have two episodes that are so similar Brooke keeps getting them mixed up! We're watching Star Trek The Next Generation season 3 episodes The Hunted and The High Ground. Okay, Barron says they're not that similar, and HE had no trouble telling them apart. One has genetically engineered soldiers and the other has a sexy terrorist. (Btw, I don't find him sexy, Doctor Crusher does!). We drink beer and liquor and we argue!! This is us having fun!
It's Star Trek the Next Generation a la YUTA!! Commander Riker falls for the wrong girl in The Vengeance Factor. And the Romulans are back again in The Defector. We are drinking liquor and continuing to work our way through season three of TNG.
TNG does Enemy Mine with The Enemy. And then counselor Troi falls for a douche bag in The Price. C'mon Star Trek the Next Generation, let's get a decent Troi episode some time! Oh, and we drink beers and whisky.
This week TNG gives Worf an episode when he tries to comfort a boy who lost his mother (red shirt). And Geordi falls in love. On the holodeck. Poor Geordi. Guy can't catch a break.
This week we are discussing two more episodes of Star Trek the Next Generation season 3, The Survivors and Who Watches the Watchers. A mysterious couple is living amidst the total devastation of all life on a Federation colony planet. And Picard gets worshiped as a god by a not so advanced culture. Not bad for the beginning of season 3 of TNG.
This week we are starting season 3 of Star Trek the Next Generation! And the seasons kicks off with an episode focusing on Barron's favorite character...Wesley Crusher!! But who cares about Wesley when Doctor Crusher is finally back!!! We also have Data getting a girlfriend when he alone has to negotiate with a group of colonists about to be annihilated from space! Here we come TNG season 3!
We are at the end of season two of Star Trek the Next Generation this week. The Enterprise plays some war games in a pretty decent penultimate episode, then we get a boring clip show in the last episode. Next week on to season three!
Lwaxana Troi is back and looking for love on this week's Beer Space Nine. You know who else is looking for love? Worf! Worf gets a girl! Well, for a second anyway. We talk about the season 2 TNG episodes Manhunt and The Emissary. And we drink some beers.
This week the TNG crew encounters a child-like race who want to kidnap Geordi (one of many times poor Geordi gets kidnapped). They also encounter some Irish people who seemed to have stepped out of Darby Ogill and the Little People. An odd couple of season 2 Star Trek the Next Generation episodes. Also, Brooke finds it in her cold dead heart to say something nice about Dr. Pulaski. Don't get used to it.
Data makes a friend! Q is back! Season 2 of TNG continues. This week we talk about Star Trek the Next Generation episodes Pen Pals and Q-Who. Barron admits Pen Pals wasn't as bad as he thought. HAHA score one for Brooke! Also, Guinan hates Q, the Borg appear for the first time, and no one can ignore an exploding planet when a cute little girl is involved.
This week we have two Picards!! And the Enterprise possibly gets destroyed!! Also, Commander Riker has daddy issues. We talk about the Star Trek The Next Generation episodes Time Squared and Icarus Factor. And we drink.
