Star Trek: The Next Generation, Series 3, Episode 13. First broadcast on Monday 5 February 1990. As private parts to the gods are we! They play with us for their sport! Lord Melchett, Blackadder II: Chains A defrocked god appears on the bridge of the USS Enterprise and wanders around being much more fun than anyone else aboard. (Apart from Whoopi Goldberg, obviously. And maybe Brent this week.) A solid outing from TNG's Imperial Phase.
SHOW NOTES: He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty cosmic entity! Our casual travellers decided to let themselves in for a time and experiment with cosmic god-like powers (powered by subtle audio cues and sound effects) while they watch three episodes featuring John DeLancie's cosmic japster ‘Q' (Miles is surprised at no point do they make a reference to a similar role DeLancie plays in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'), at first they watch Baby-Faced Season 1 Riker do his own experimenting with Q-Flash Noises in ‘Hide and Q,' see Q get brought down to human size sans pants in ‘Deja Q' and make a final pop over to the Delta Quadrant to see Q's first meeting with the Voyager crew in ‘Death Wish,' BYOMB- Bring Your Own Mariachi Band! In this episode of Trekking Through Time and Space... Hoai-Tran and Jacob have a grand ol' time as Star Trek: The Next Generation goes full comedy with "Deja Q" and the return of John de Lancie. But they have less of a good time as classic Doctor Who flirts with "The Edge of Destruction," but also boredom. Hail and well met fellow Tolkienites! Tolkeinists? Either way, we're here and ready to vivisect Amazon's huge investment in the TV series: The Rings of Power. If you haven't gone back and read the (loosely related) source material, we'll save you the time. Listen in to our previous cast where we talk about The Silmarillion. If high fantasy isn't your thing, then click through some of our sci-fi back catalogue, like The Three Body Problem or an all time favorite from our early days, Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash. Then, come back next time when we dive into the 90's golden age of space TV with Star Trek: The Next Generation. Specifically, we're watching: The Best of Both Worlds, Pt 1 and 2 (s3e26, s4e1) The Measure of a Man (s2e9) Chain of Command (s6e10,11) Inner Light (s5, e25) Deja Q (s3e13) Yesterday's Enterprise (s3e15)
When the moon hits your eye, then you all gonna die! That's a red alert for the Enterprise! Bre'el IV's moon is crashing into the planet, and while the Enterprise struggles to prevent this, Q pops in naked as an Aldeberran Jay bird! It seems that the Q continuum has stripped our Q of his powers, rendering him mortal. Jean-Luc palms Q off to Data to deal with while he drinks tea in his quarters and tells Geordi to accomplish a miracle with that pesky moon. With Q's help, the crew is able to make progress on their moon moves until some pesky Q haters come calling to exact revenge on their now-vulnerable tormentor. Is Q doomed to a life of mortal torment? Will Arnie Becker count this as a billable hour? Will the inhabitants of Bre'el IV say “Good night, moon” forever? Found out in this next exciting episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast!
The crew of the Enterprise must explain various bodily functions to a god, while an asteroidal moon goes on a suspiciously timed collision course. Emily, Rudy, and Adam try to figure out if Q really counts as a villain, despite his presence in StarTrek.com's Star Trek Villain bracket. This week, Q is BACK and he's worried about balding, sneezing, and getting a pimple. Also, Star Trek does Rashomon and Riker might be a rapist.
The inscrutable Q gets his power took away. The impish John Delancie appears naked on the bridge of the Enterprise to appeal to Picard's human generosity, and defend the former omniscient being from predators. Everyone tests Q, including Guinan, Data and Dr. Crusher who all find out he's a pain in the neck while in human form. But a change of heart, and a visit from another Q named Corbin Bernstein makes everything right. Jimmie hosts this one with the energy of a Mariachi band. All you have to know is that terrorism is bad. Unless it's good? Hard to tell from this episode in which Dr. Crusher gets caught in an empathy trap by Kiril the totally not Irish-Spaniard with a line of spray paint in his hair. Riker works with the cops to try to get Dr Crusher back, and Wesley works with science super team alpha to uncover the secret of the funky new special effects. The Irish undertones permeate throughout, as does the wishy-washiness of Captain Picard who only communicates in treacly adages on the serious subject here. The Unification of Ireland is set to occur in two years, according to Data, so let's start the proceedings! Get in touch with us on Twitter @ReEngageTNG! It's back to the final frontier for your boys! Mike, Peter and Jon take to the stars with the season 2 premiere of Star Trek: Picard, pop off about some unlikely expansions to the Dragon Ball and Twisted Metal (!) universes, and learn some hard truths about modern warfare courtesy of the mailbag. Also, RABBIT WARS: COKESNIFFER VERSUS LOP. Don't make it an away mission - beam in for a new Red Channel Condition episode today!
Deja Q! Oh how the turns have tabled, Señor Q. Now that Q has lost his power and must live like a miserable, squishy, worthless human, will he become easier to deal with? Will Data become his best friend? Will they both learn the true meaning of what it is to be selfless? Also, why is this moon falling? All we know for sure if that we don't need your fantasy women! Today,* I freak out about my favorite Star Trek episode ever!* John de Lance really commits to his role.* Warning: This episode contains math.
Tensions are running high among the Warped crew, and Erin's mind is blown when all her illusions regarding sour cream distribution methods at fast food Mexican restaurants are exposed. We get some Q side-butt in this episode (Happy Pride, everyone!) but a debate about whether Q or Guinan would be more fun to hang out with turns ugly. Minh and Erin have some problems with butt-faced aliens, forcing us all to realize what bad diplomats we'd make. All this plus: Paddington 2! Hot tubs! And LeVar Burton, Jeopardy host!
Data teaches Q about chocolate and personal sacrifice. Join your omnipotent hosts as they discuss the evolution of character and philosophical development in Star Trek, praise the stream of snappy dialogue in this classic episode, and ponder why Geordi lacks the empathy of his fellow crewmates. Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode, so if you haven't had a chance to see it yet – beware! Next week: Worf takes center stage in the fourth season DS9 two-parter, "War of the Warrior" Note that this and all episodes of the It's Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids. Q is back. This time he's been stripped of his powers and his clothes, and is unceremoniously dumped on the bridge of the Enterprise, naked as the day he was...born? I can't believe this episode has a moral after all.
It`s season 3`s Q episode, a true (Q) classic --- Deja Q!!!! First aired February 5, 1990
John Siracusa, podcaster and man about the Internet, joins Scott to chat about TNG’s “Deja Q” (S3E13). Topics include how much Scott loves this episode, Corbin Bernsen’s little baby face, and whether or not we like Q as a character. Host Scott McNulty with John Siracusa.
Guess who's back...back again. Q is back. Tell a friend. We discuss another classic season 3 TNG episode Deja Q! And Star Trek does Rashomon with A Matter of Justice. Brooke's dog is a special guest star this week, and we get cut off a bit at the end due to the dog's antics. But she's so cute we forgive her!
It's visits going wrong this week on SSHB! First up, a depowered Q tries to make himself useful to Picard and company during a crisis in "Deja Q". After that, Riker is accused of murder most foul following a trip to a science station that ended just about as poorly as it possibly could in "A Matter of Perspective". Also this week: white people trying to understand appropriation, everyone's favorite screencap, and a tease for a future project! Timestamps: synopses: 2:20; Deja Q: 10:05; A Matter of Perspective: 37:08; Mashup fanfic announcement: 1:00:20
Andy wishes he was omnipotent and Matt wishes there was more to talk about.Episode Discussion begins around the 32:00 mark.
A people in peril as their moon begins to plummet toward their planet and then Q shows up! Join us as we discuss another amazing Q episode on Starfleet boy, we'd love to hear what you thought of this episode as well!
Pat, Pat, and Brian Sebby break down Deja Q, a thrilling episode where the Federation must stop a moon from crashing into a planet, Q learns what feelings are, and the Enterprise security yet again just let any rando waltz into the shuttle bay.
We're watching a Q episode! And we all like it a lot! Unfortunately for one among us, that makes it rather uninteresting to talk about. But the remainder of us seem to have no problem. We’re watching a Q episode! And we all like it a lot! Unfortunately for one among us, that makes it rather uninteresting to talk about. But the remainder of us seem to have no problem. Trek TV - The most ambitious Star Trek podcast on the internet!
#156 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S03E13 - "Deja Q". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek, Jared, copious background noise, SUDDEN BARKING. In this technically listenable episode of Trek TV, Tracy & Vaughn are stripped of their decent microphone powers by the Podcast Continuum for countless Aural Crimes against the internet, forcing them to record from across the room inside a shed. Can we prove ourselves worthy of being granted decent recording quality again? Will we talk about Sandra Wild? And are people really the worst? The answers to these deep questions of humanity await within! And also right here, in non-sequential order: only tangentially to very large curves; yeah, probably; of coooouuuuurse not. Comedic Episodes.Star Trek: The Next Generation is a show that tackles serious issues, including life and death, morality, mortality, and the meaning of existence. However, TNGalso features many comedic episodes and moments showing that it does not take itself too seriously. Comedy features in Q's many appearances (either showing up naked on the bridge or as the Sheriff of Nottingham) to Lwaxana Troi chasing Captain Picard around the Enterprise. Phillip, Daniel, and Darren discuss their favorite comedic episodes, from "Captain's Holiday" to "A Fistful of Datas," as well as the lines and moments that made them laugh just like Data at the end of "Deja Q." Since last month, Scott Gardner and Chris Honeywell paid short shrift to Star Trek: The Next Generation, they decided to focus exclusively on it this month so Picard wouldn't cry like a little girl. Next month - expect the return of the FULL ROSTER!This month, Chris gets some Trek magazines in Pultneyville and Scott reads some READER MAIL which leads into some interesting and NON-TREK-LIKE tangents. Scott asks Chris if he has faith that Bob Orci is going to deliver a "more Trek-like" mStar Trek 3. The short answer is "no", but you get the long version here. Then - FINALLY - The RETURN OF Q in season 3's DEJA Q!!Feedback for this show can be sent to: startrek@twotruefreaks.comTwo True Freaks! is a proud member of BOTH the Comics Podcast Network (http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts (http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/)!! Season Three Overview. The third season of TNG introduced uniform collars, a promoted La Forge, the last full season for Wesley, welcomed back Dr. Crusher, and ended on the greatest cliffhanger in Star Trek television history. In this episode of Earl Grey, Darren, Daniel, and Phillip discuss why Season Three is their collective favorite out of all seven years of the series, how most episodes introduced storylines that would continue throughout TNG's television run (in addition to other Trek series and feature films), and how many times Riker smiles during other characters' embarrassing moments. Oh boy, Q is back, and Richard Goodness and Eric Brasure are both so excited. While Richard is busy coming up with alternate titles for “Deja Q” (top candidate: “Oh, the Qmanity!”), Eric talks about how after this episode, Q really has diminishing returns. Meanwhile, in “A Matter of Perspective”, TNG does Rashomon. Plus! Eric ...
