Today we’re talking about Pentecost Sunday and how it reminds us that our true purpose – like the Apostles’ – is to share the good news. Our responsibility as Christians is to spread the Word of God and save souls. On this podcast we’ll learn that:  - Those who identify as Christians should examine how they express those values each day  - Evangelization differs from outreach or service because it requires that we proclaim the Word of God, not just practice good deeds  - We shouldn’t worry about what we will lose by devoting our lives to God, but rather trust in all that we will gain. Their former girl group sister, Guy Branum told Karen and Wynter to watch the new Peacock series Girls 5Eva so they could all process it 3gether, which they do on this week’s ep. Karen is too busy cavorting in the gay woods with her vaxxed BFFs to absorb any new pop culture, though Guy does bring up one of their favorite old topics--lesbian representation on Top Chef--to keep things sapphically interesting. Wynter gets into the new CNN docuseries about The Story of Late Night, while peering into her crystal ball about what we might expect from the genre in years to come. Nuo-lingo gets “cheugy” with it, plus some music from the late 90s to Y2K. Y2K Playlist (Spotify)  Find all things W2X at w2xpodcast.com

Tyler and Hannah are back with the second-part of Isaac Asimov’s life story. The prolific sci-fi writer penned somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 books and probably pinched that many butts too. Seriously. Guy was a serial harasser. Our fearless co-hosts get lost on many tangents including “Dune” author Frank Herbert’s critique of “The Foundation” series, why more of Asimov’s stuff didn’t get turned into movies, and why his family kept his real cause of death a secret for a decade.   As always a thank you to Jake Bassen for our theme song. Greetings Heathens! In today’s episode of Truth Wanted… Oh wait, this is Talk Heathen! Today we welcome ObjectivelyDan and Jmike to the hosts chairs! This should be a great show! Before we get to calls, we get to learn more about ObjectivelyDan and Jmike. As you know, Dan is the host for another ACA call in show called Truth Wanted (It’s one of the show notes writer’s favorites!) Jmike is joining the host roster and really “enjoys” talking to presups. Welcome Jmike!Let’s get to calls! Kevin from New York (yes, that Kevin) would like to discuss the ‘Eternal Now’ philosophy and according to him, why a God is involved in it. Either Jmike scared him away with his fantastic questions or he just dropped, I’m going to say he got a bit scared. Bye Kevin!Joe in Virginia is up next, he is wanting to challenge us on our disbelief by asking a series of questions. At one point asking about beliefs in God and Jmike asks for a definition of God based on the belief of this claim. Joe keeps repeating that the question didn’t go anywhere, maybe that’s because you got an answer you didn’t want. Asking for proof of a claim isn’t a bad thing and the burden of proof lies on the one making the claim.Vincent in the UK is wondering about faith healing and watching evangelical religious shows on telly in the US. Dan breaks it down for him, the US is made up of a lot of conmen and cynical money grabbers, but seriously. There is an industry of this and quite a history of this here in the US.Guy in Georgia is asking about life after death and seeing loved ones. He thinks this is what keeps people religious which is a tragedy and a huge disservice to everyone.Alison in Canada is calling about folks with aphantasia which is the inability to voluntarily create mental images in one's mind and if they could see images eventually. She asks, if someone has this and then all of the sudden can see images within her mind, would this be a sign of a God?Paul in the UK is calling in about the Kalam Cosmological argument and has a bit of an adjustment to it. He’d like to run through the premises with Jmike and Dan and see where we all end up with it.That’s our show for this week, please continue to be safe in your area, get vaccinated if you can, and continue to wear your mask. The world is better with you in it. See you next week!

The bike and board shop will be located right on Main Street in Pequot Lakes, and less than a block away from the Paul Bunyan Trail. During this episode, we ask Guy - who has never been a resident of the Lakes Area - why he chose to start this business here, and what really stood out to him about our community. Also, this won't be his first venture by any means... He's also dove into the sports marketing and memorablia world as well. From recap DVDs to autographed footballs to pieces of professional sports venues, he's been collecting and selling for years. Probably his most recognizable purchase.. The Metrodome Roof. You heard us right, back in 2010 when the Metrodome roof collapsed, Guy purchased 2 ACRES of the roof, and has now created hundreds of signed memorablia pieces from it. Whether you're a fan of Jack Morris and the Twins or Jared Allen and the Vikings, he is almost certain to have a piece of the dome's roof signed by those players. So many different avenues discussed on this show, it's defintiely one you won't want to miss.

Murders of Joel and Lisa GuyOn Saturday, November 26, 2016, 61-year-old Joel Guy Sr. and 55-year-old Lisa Guy were murdered and dismembered by their son, 28-year-old Joel Michael Guy Jr., in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States. The younger Guy stabbed his father at least 42 times, his mother at least 31 times. He was convicted of both murders in October 2020 and received a sentence of life imprisonment.Guy's parents were soon to retire and would stop providing money to their son, and he was to receive a $500,000 life insurance policy if both were dead or missing. The murder involved an elaborate plot to stab both parents, dismember and dissolve their remains, and clean and burn down the house, as well as frame the father for the crime. Guy was injured during the stabbing, and left the partially dissolved remains in the house as he left to dress his wounds. Before he returned, police discovered the bloody scene upon performing a welfare check. They also discovered a notebook detailing the plot in a backpack; both parents' torsos and dismembered limbs dissolving in plastic bins, in an acid-based solution full of corrosive chemicals described by prosecutors as a "diabolical stew of human remains"; the father's severed hands on the floor; and the mother's head in a pot on the stove.Their son, Joel Michael Guy Jr. (born 1988) graduated from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches in 2006, and previously attended Hahnville High School. He had never worked and had always been supported by his family. He spent one semester at George Washington University, then attended Louisiana State University as a student and lived in Baton Rouge right up until the time of the murders in 2016, ostensibly training to become a plastic surgeon.Guy Sr. also had three daughters by a first marriage.1) youtube documentaries: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjg4pz-3MzwAhXNuZ4KHREbBzMQwqsBMAB6BAgMEAk&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVvQ0dToFnNM&usg=AOvVaw0wJJ2WP5KpLfRUKEmYsktk2) Wikipedia: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjg4pz-3MzwAhXNuZ4KHREbBzMQFjAIegQIBRAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FMurders_of_Joel_and_Lisa_Guy&usg=AOvVaw1qPJ_D7D1NGY1MatkBA4Ex3) Kitas intro music: Inmenso by Charles Mitchel.4) Sallys outro music: Multiplication.

Guy Furrow, aka Miss Guy is a multi-talented rock’n’roll legend: singer for the acclaimed punk/glam band The Toilet Boys, deejay, music producer, songwriter photographer and makeup artist. Born in Southern California, he came of age and hit his creative stride in the New York City rock scene when it was still something to be wildly excited about. He became fast friends and collaborators with his mentors Deborah Harry and Boy George; his duets with both can be heard in this episode. The Toilet Boys toured North America, Europe and Asia with The Ramones, Motorhead, The Damned, Joan Jett, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more. As a deejay, he’s spun worldwide, everywhere from Manhattan clubs to high fashion shows and even art museums. Guy’s photography is beyond-especially since so many of his subjects are rock stars and glamorous drag queens. In this episode, Miss Guy and hostess Pleasant Gehman talk about New York City in the 90’s: wild times and the notorious club/party Squeeze Box; his wildest tour stories, spirit communication in dreams. A member of West Point’s Class of 1986 (along with his roommate and former Secretary of State/Director of The CIA, Mike Pompeo), Jim served overseas as an Army Ranger in the late 80’s and early 90’s before leaving the military and joining the FBI. Welcome to Campfire Classics, a Literary Comedy Podcast!! You'll never believe what Heather says to Ken at the end of this episode!!! That's how clickbait works, right? Annoying headline to get you to click the link? As long as you're here, you may as well listen to this week's story by French author Guy de Maupassant.  A name which Heather chose and still never managed to pronounce quite right.  But that's okay, the title of the story is blessedly easy to pronounce. "The Necklace". This story has a surprise ending that would make M. Night Shyamalan jealous (speaking of hard to pronounce names...), but before we reach the end our hosts discuss the sketchiest way to travel, a truly unconventional Project Runway challenge, and dive deep into the best foods to cook naked. Plus big news is revealed in the beginning, and a listener challenge is set at the end, so listen up for those. "The Necklace" was first published on 17 February 1884 in the French newspaper Le Gaulois. Remember to tell five friends to check out Campfire Classics. This weeks promo is from Ratchet Book Club. This show is hilarious.  Go check it out. After you've listened to us. So sit back, light a fire (or even a candle), grab a drink, and enjoy.

Just a Guy in the Pew

On today’s podcast, we’re talking about practice and how a strong spiritual life requires consistency and perseverance. Consistency is what transforms average into excellent. Think of great athletes. Many consider Michael Jordan or Tom Brady to be naturals at their sports, but the truth is they were willing to put in more practice time, and effort than their competitors. NEW!
