Well, you're in luck as we get to meet “Ensign Ro” in this all-new episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast, and it's coming at you right abooooooooooout . . . NOW!Meet the Bajorans! An ancient race of delightful people who have been dispossessed by the occupying Cardassian empire. It appears they've just attacked a Federation colony on Solarian IV right next to the Cardassian/Federation border, and squinty Admiral Kennelly tasks Picard with ferreting out suspected terrorist Orta! To help with the mission, Kennelly adds the notorious Ro Laren to the Enterprise crew. A surly Bajoran, Ro is no happier to be on board than the rest are to have her, but Guinan decides to lend a purple-hatted hand and help build a bridge between Picard and this recalcitrant recruit. Together, Picard and Ro discover the real mission is working together to uncover the truth. Will Picard be able to prevent a war with the Cadrassians while also offering the Bajorans some hope? Will Mot the barber take a pass at Picard's pelt? Will Riker find new ways to be hard on Ensign Ro? Find out in this exciting new episode of ST:TNGeez . . . Even more available at: https://tngeez.com
Quick, put on your secret black leather uniform and prepare yourself for moral dubiousness as we prepare ourselves for the upcoming film- ‘Star Trek: Section 31.' With the film debuting in just a few days after this episode drops, Miles and Charlie prepare themselves by choosing three episodes tangentially related to the forthcoming film, in ‘Inquisition,' we and Julian Bashier meet Section 31 and all Bashier wants are Scone and Jams, then in ‘Yesterday's Enterprise,' we slip into an alternate universe/Tasha Yar fixfic and meet Captain Rachel Garrett (who will apprantly be in this movie) and we encounter that most deadly Star Trek threat… WALL ROCKS and then in Saints of Imperfection, Captain Pike meets the worst kind of secret operatives, catty drama kids who can't shut up about how secret they all are, will any of this actually relate to the film? We don't know, but we've assembled a team of our own to talk about it in the next episode! Inquisition (11:52) Yesterday's Enterprise (46:00) Saints of Imperfection (1:16:08) Talking Points: Favourite Spy TV Shows, Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, A whostrobot, Charlie is trying to play every Super Mario Brothers and he's just wrong inside, Section 31 just feels like a 15 year old's attempt at edgy, we talk realpolitik for a second, The Prisoner, Jam and Scones, a surprise Jeffrey Combs appearance, William Sadler also being Death in Bill and Ted, the subtle differences with the alternate Enterprise characters, this is a Tasha Yar fixfic, wall rocks are useful… maybe, Picard being a bit more like his ‘ST:Picard' counterpart here, bloody bloody deaths, the mysterious ‘Arratia', Section 31 is run like Starbucks'. Tech differences in Discovery, how Mirror Phillipe gets tedious really quickly, Miles talks Blake's 7, Miles and Charlie LOVE Death Stranding, EastEnders, Tilly being earnestly hopepunk (I hate that term), Spock is a kleptomaniac, Pedants Corner: Roj Blake is played by GARETH Thomas, not GARTH Thomas

Ever wanted to watch a bunch of Klingons talking about politics? Sounds like loads of fun to us! It's the end of Season 4 at least with episode 26, “Redemption Part 1! Okay, here we go! It's the giant season cliffhanger, and after last season's “Best of Both Worlds” Borg-a-thon, this is going to be a doozy! It's all the Klingon politics you could ever want as Gowron ascends to head of the empire while Picard dutifully performs his role as Arbiter of Succession. Why is a Starfleet officer performing such a politically charged role for the empire? Never mind because there are other things to worry about as Gowron's claim is challenged by the newly-discovered son of his dead rival Duras who was killed by Worf after Duras killed K'helyr who had given birth to Worf's son and and and Oy! What a mess! But we get to meet the Duras sisters, Lursa and B'hetor, who have Picard over for tea and scalp stroking! Worf's brother Kurn is back! There are space battles! Worf resigns! Finally, the shadowy Romulan figure from “The Mind's Eye” steps out into the light, and it's . . . Tasha Yar? Whaaaaaaaa?Even more available at: https://tngeez.com

Today we're talking about efforts to recreate woolly mammoths, apparently in order to 1) combat climate change, 2) cure cancer, and 3) re-wild the tundra. Our first reactions are, what? But our second reactions are a deep dive into the ethics of paleo-genomic research. Finally, there's a shoutout to everyone's favorite giant armadillo tank, Tarkus, and a rare reference to Tasha Yar. So there's something for everyone.
Direct from Star Trek: The Cruise, Denise Crosby herself beams into Transporter Room 3 for a wide-ranging chat. Pitching a New Trek Series: Enterprise-CThere are "gaps" in Trek history, mostly between the launch of the Enterprise-B and the start of the continuing voyages of the Enterprise-D on "The Next Generation." The trio dives into creating a new series based during the earlier part of the 24th Century with the crew of the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-C. Just like Captain Christopher Pike, fans already know the tragic ending for Captain Rachel Garrett, Lieutenant Richard Castillo, and the Ambassador-class ship (and alternate universe Tasha Yar!). But even though the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" tells us the end of the story, what were the missions and untold stories of this crew?In this proposed new series, Captain Garret leads a senior crew of commanders from various alien worlds, along with some familiar faces along the way. A young, wild, and close-to-losing-his-job junior diplomat Curzon Dax helps the Enterprise-C in its mission of patroling Klingon and Romulan space, with a new class of starship that seems more equipped for combat than diplomacy. Will the ship's communications officer be the last one in Starfleet? What lower deck shenanigans are occuring? And why does the Ambassador-class ships become less common in the later part of the 24th Century? All these questions and more are explored in the pitching of a Enterprise-C TV series!
Warnings UP FRONT: Unfortunately, "Fusion" is important background to the first episode this week, so the events of that come up. Also we're talking Tasha Yar later so her unfortunately-written history is also discussed. ALSO: we throw caution to the wind and spoil the ever-living crap out of "Picard" throughout the blogtivity this week. Like almost from the word GO. So yeah. ANYWAY First up: it's an unsubtle metaphor some 16 years too late as "Trek" does an AIDS allegory in "Stigma". After that, Archer is the most annoying man in space and that makes him the only person to diplomatize another Vulcan/Andorian spat in "Cease Fire"! Also this week: AWFUL choice of B-plot, a stacked cast, and Yar v Ro! [timestamps: Stigma: 01:29; Cease Fire: 32:35; FIGHT!: 50:53] [Get into the ring!: https://www.tumblr.com/sshbpodcast/741055734378315776/tasha-yar-vs-ro-laren-fight?source=share]

The Klingon Way is to fight for podcast supremacy! Our cultural bridge crew returns after a hiatus to pick up the pieces of the Klingon civil war between Gowron of the Large Eyes and the Duras sisters of the Large ... Attitudes. There may be too many storylines to keep track of though, as Picard pitches a tachyon pulse field using what's left of the fleet depleted by the Borg attack. (Canon!) Data experiences android racism from the guy sniffing nasal spray in Ghostbusters, and Worf repulses the advances of Romulan-backed boobies. Oh, and we learn how the heck Tasha Yar turned into a Romulan and it's all Picard's fault, as Guinan tells us. It's great to be back! Wait, Tasha Yar had a sister? Who knew? How is the Enterprise ever going to complete a mission with all of these distress calls?! This time, they're diverted from what sounds like a fascinating archeological survey to rescue some dumb ship in trouble over Turkana IV. That's right, Turkana IV, birthplace and the late, lamented Tasha Yar! The dumb crew of the dumb ship end up crashing their escape shuttle onto the planet's surface where they are now hostages of the fearsomely named Alliance! Oooo! In order to free the hostages, Picard and crew end up in an alliance, ironically enough, with the rival cadre, the equally fearsome Coalition, and guess who's a member? It's Ishara Yar, younger sister of poor dead Tasha! She assumes the role of liaison with the Enterprise crew and dishes the inside scoop on the Alliance, but . . . can she be trusted? Huh? Can she? Can the crew rescue the dumb hostages? Can Riker really tell you which card is yours? Find out in this exciting episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast. We dug deep (on YouTube) for this month's episode to find this very strange mix of Child's Play and The Exorcist from 1991 starring Denise Crosby (yes, Tasha Yar from Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Rip Torn (yes, Rip Torn). Was this tomb worth excavating? Play with this!
On this week's episode on Random Trek, Captain Ingle and I set a course for the 24th century and the continuing voyages of the USS Enterprise-D. While the Enterprise D is chilling in space, a temporal rift opens before them and out pops the Enterprise C, heavily damaged from a losing battle with the Romulans! In an instant, everything changes as the older ship's appearance creates a whole new timeline where the Federation is at war with the Klingon Empire. Only Guinan notices the changes, and she tries to convince Picard that things just ain't right. For one, remember Tasha Yar? Well, she's back, baby, alive and well and wearing a belt – hey everyone is wearing a belt! The D crew works feverishly to repair the Enterprise C and make it battle-worthy while Guinan tries to convince Jean-Luc that the older ship needs to return to their certain death in hopes it will restore the proper timeline and save the Federation from succumbing to the dominant Klingons. Will they be able to repair the Enterprise C in time? Will Armus be able to cope with a resurrected Yar? Will the Federation decide that belts are cool? Qapla’.

Strap on your Mobile Units, check your S.P.O.T. and let us take you through the 1986 classic "Eliminators" as voted for by you, yes you. It stars Tasha Yar off of Star Trek TNG and some other people. Its a tale as old as time, a dead pilot is brought back as so Mandroid to travel through time to steal Roman shields for a bad guy. You know, the usual. You will learn all about the latin for egg, the perils of boat explosions, how fire can shoot bullets at you, powder paints and most importantly NINJA SKILLS. Fantasy and sci-fi illustrator and artist Tyler Jacobson joins us to talk about this truly great episode of Star Trek. From the cinematic blue lighting to the Emmy-award winning sound design to Guinan's courage and Wesley's head, everything pops in this one! A temporal rift brings the Enterprise C forward 22 years and changes the timeline to keep Tasha Yar alive and well at tactical - which they need because the Federation is fighting the Klingons in a devastating decades-long war. Wartime Picard listens to his only friend Guinan and sends "Mild Texas Accent Shooter" McGavin back through the rift, with Denise Crosby as Yar, to fix it all. We spend an extra 30 minutes discussing this episode than our normal episodes, but that's just because the Enterprise C moves so slowly getting back into the rift. Re:Enjoy! It's time for, qualitatively, what is probably one of the worst Star Trek episodes ever made. Ryan and Brady dive into a cool-looking villain, a dumb-looking funeral, and the unreal amount of standing around in a small patch of sand that is Skin of Evil, TNG's farewell to Tasha Yar.

Star Trek: The Next Generation analysis of season 1 episode 2 (The Naked Now) Inexplicably, the second-ever episode of TNG finds the crew drunk off dying dwarf star juice and lookin' to bone DOWN. In an episode that is mostly nonsense, we find many things to laugh about and a few to analyze. The first thing we noticed was that this episode hits different in COVID-times. Between the severe lack of hygiene protocols and the uncontested application of the vaccine, it is really hard not to draw parallels to our post-2020 reality! Though most of the lusty shenanigans in this episode have little bearing on the series as a whole or the characters within it, one event DOES bear scrutiny and that is the hookup between Data and Tasha Yar. We talk in-depth about how that scene was handled, in terms of Tasha's status as a victim/survivor, as well as Data's autistic coding. This pairing could've been a really beautiful moment but unfortunately fell into a few problematic tropes - specifically sexualizing a survivor from the male gaze, and supporting the idea that sleeping with autistic/disabled people is embarrassing. Our sweet baby boy Wesley officially saves the day for the first time, Data imparts some words of wisdom, Bev develops a vaccine, and everyone's sweaty upper lips dry in relief. This week, we use Freud's psychoanalytic theory to evaluate the tar monster that murders Tasha Yar, and then we take a look at Picard's love life in the middle of multiverse hijinx.
