We start the conversation with a blunt claim: without the gospel there is no real light, no solid truth, no lasting life, and no dependable hope, only speculation and futility dressed up as confidence. That frame reshapes what we think we're offering the world and what we're actually calling people to when we talk about Jesus Christ. From there, we challenge a common habit in modern evangelism, treating Christianity like a personal upgrade: feel better, get your needs met, be happier. Drawing on Martin Lloyd-Jones and Paul's words in Romans 7:4, we argue that union with Christ is not built on making the unbeliever the center. The purpose is startling and clarifying: we are joined to the risen Bridegroom so that we might bear fruit for God. We walk through what that fruit looks like in Christian discipleship: thankful speech, surrender that dies to self, spiritual maturity through discipline, sacrificial giving that invests in people, and saving truth that multiplies across the world. Then a real-life story drives it home: a hydroplane crash, a replacement van, a breakdown in Connecticut, and a chain of frustrations that turns into an unexpected gospel conversation with a man who thinks he has six months to live. It's a practical reminder that providence often looks like interruption before it looks like meaning. If you care about the gospel, spiritual growth, and what “bearing fruit for God” actually means on an ordinary Tuesday, listen through to the closing questions. We are beyond thrilled to welcome the legendary CHRISTOPHER HART to the studio! If you grew up loving family movies, Christopher's work is deeply woven into your childhood. He sits down with the us to talk about the sheer wonder and timeless allure of magic, his personal favorite magicians who inspired his journey, and what it actually takes to bring an iconic, disembodied hand to life on the silver screen. But the finger-snapping fun doesn't stop there! He shares what it was like creating a totally twisted villainous hand, including the scoop on that unforgettable, chaotic scene featuring punk rock icons The Offspring! Then, Jonathan Grabs the Mic and Unlocks Magic! Keeping the mystical vibes rolling, Jonathan stops by the magic shop of memory lane to dust off some long-forgotten magic television specials that used to glue us to the screen. Grab your top hats, dust off your spellbooks, and give a big, high-five welcome! So enjoy the Nostalgia, the Magic, the Wonder, and the Memories with The DizRadio Show "A Pop Culture Celebrity Guest Show"!
That showcase weekend was absolutely massive! Between Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Showcase, and Sony's State of Play, there is a ton to be excited about. If I had to guess which games made your wishlist, I'd bet a few heavy-hitters definitely caught your eye. Here are a few that I think are absolute must-haves for anyone's list: Gears of War: E-Day: Launching on October 6, 2026, this prequel looks dark, gritty, and exactly what fans of the franchise have been begging for. Fable: Playground Games' revival of Albion is easily one of the most anticipated titles out there. With its perfect blend of stunning next-gen visuals, fairy-tale charm, and that classic, self-aware British humor, it has "day-one wishlist" written all over it.Crazy Taxi: World Tour: SEGA's official reveal during the Xbox Showcase was incredible. Bringing back original driver Axel, five massive global city routes, and The Offspring on the soundtrack for a 2027 open-world, multiplayer arcade experience? It's absolute chaotic nostalgia.Exodus: Archetype Entertainment's massive 20-minute gameplay drop proves this sci-fi RPG is carrying the Mass Effect baton beautifully. The time-dilation mechanics and tactical space combat make its early 2027 release a mandatory wishlist spot.Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis: Even with the State of Play announcement delaying it to February 12, 2027, seeing the original 1996 adventure rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 looks spectacular. Fighting the T-Rex on a cinematic scale is going to be wild. How close did I get? Did the ancient Egyptians have B major, or were they just really into papyrus condoms? This week, Andrew and his resident logic-botherer Sam attempt to dissect the musical history of ancient Egypt, mostly concluding that three thousand years of history can't quite be summed up by Bruce Dickinson or an overly loud 90s metal kick drum. Expect a completely uncalled-for bass-tuning intermission, a deep dive into why the 'Woke Police' banned The Bangles after 9/11, and the shocking revelation that ancient Greek war music sounds a bit too much like an Offspring track. We also listen to some genuine electronic pioneer madness involving barking dogs and celestial shapes, plus a bit of Coptic embalming music that sounds exactly like a knife going into some pharaoh's guts. It's educational, it's chaotic, and Andrew actually learns what a pentatonic scale is (sort of).
Monday, June 8, 2026Brock welcomes his longtime best friend Josh Satterfield back into the studio for a full-on throwback episode packed with old radio memories, ridiculous breakup excuses, random facts, and classic Brock-and-Josh chemistry. The two reminisce about their college radio days on Jibber Jabber, their old show Nap Time, and how this version of Brock in the Morning is “the real deal” on Sam's Furniture Radio. The trending topic of the day is the most unhinged breakup excuse you've ever heard, and the answers do not disappoint. From “my mom doesn't think you're right for me” even though the mom had passed away years earlier, to “my therapist says I need someone who matches my moon phase,” to the classic “God told me we need to break up,” Brock and Josh dig into the wild, awkward, and hilarious ways people try to end relationships. The show also covers plenty of “What the Heck” moments, including new Hot Pocket Snack Breaks, an Olive Garden server allegedly being denied a $700 tip, a fistfight breaking out at a kindergarten graduation, and a priest in Detroit going full crime-fighter mode after chasing down a suspected car thief. Brock and Josh mix in random facts about zebras, gladiators, Russell Crowe, The Bahamas, The North Face, and the original lyrics to “Escape,” better known as the Pina Colada song.In the 7 AM Challenge, Josh plays “Answer Wrong and Win,” leading to some beautifully dumb answers involving chocolate milk, grocery shopping, and Olympic seasons. Later, the guys dive into dad rock, ranking bands like Weezer, The Offspring, Linkin Park, Korn, Incubus, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Creed, and Blink-182 as the new soundtrack of fatherhood. That naturally leads to memories of concerts, college, Mr. T commercials, Prince, Randy Travis, Lainey Wilson, donuts, and the kind of nostalgic chaos only best friends can create. The episode wraps with Brock and Josh talking about Modern Mission laser tag, wild cruise cabin plumbing disasters, terrible breakup excuses, celebrity gossip, and one last college-radio-style goodbye with a little Russ Taff energy. It is a funny, nostalgic, and all-over-the-place Monday show with best-friend banter at the center.

Hey Streetwalkers. This is a throwback episode with Mighty Mighty BossToneS frontman & founding member of The Defiant Dicky Barrett.Dicky first appeared as guest for the 400th episode on 2.26.24 It was such a compelling & fun episode, l decided it needed to be re-visited!Enjoy this throwback episode, tell a friend, and thanks for listening! Dicky BarrettTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Richard Michael Barrett. Better know as Dicky; he is also called The Godfather of Skacore. Dicky is former frontman and founding member of The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, and current frontman and founder of the new super group The Defiant. In this episode, we chat about how he came to be the bow-tied plaid leader of The Bosstones, and some of the cool things he got to do along the way. He tells the story of getting to open for The Misfits while he was still in high school, as well as getting to play Fenway Park many years later. Dicky shares stories of meeting and befriending Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel when they were just getting started; and some of the fun things he got to do as a result of these friendships. Adam uses Bosstones' songs in the intro and outro of his Adam Carolla Show podcast; and Dicky was the announcer for Jimmy Kimmel Live for nearly 20 years. Of course, I ask Dicky if I can play my all time favorite MMB song... and he says yes! Obviously we discuss how MMB ended up in the cult classic iconic film Clueless, and what made them decide to do it. Next, Dicky explains what happened between him and the other Bosstones, as well as his relationship with the Jimmy Kimmel Live late night show. Finally, we discuss his new band The Defiant. This super group features former members of: The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, The Offspring, Smash Mouth, Street Dogs, and The Briggs. The Defiant is: Pete Parada, Greg Camp, Johnny Rioux, Joey LaRocca, and Dicky Barrett. Their debut album "If We're Really Being Honest" was released in late October 2023. Naturally I ask him if I can play my favorite song from this new album.... and Dicky said yes again! I had such a blast talking with Dicky, I think we are best friends now! Don't be surprised if you hear more from Dicky on Fascination Street Podcast. This dude is rad as balls. Thanks Dicky! And thanks Mike Dawson, you know what you did.
Today we're diving into Dragon Offspring, Book 2 in Scott Appleton's The Sword of the Dragon series. This epic fantasy adventure takes everything that worked in Book 1 and expands it in exciting ways.Originally published in 2020 and recently released in audiobook format, Dragon Offspring continues the story begun in Swords of the Six, introducing larger mysteries, deeper character development, greater dangers, and a dramatically expanded world. I'm reviewing the newly released audiobook edition, narrated by the outstanding Dave Cruse, whose performance once again elevates an already excellent story. In this review, I'll discuss:⚔️ Why this sequel surpasses the first book
Jesus called Matthew, the tax collector, to follow Him. In so doing, Jesus changed the course of Matthew's life entirely, making him an apostle and an evangelist. Matthew's account of Jesus' life and ministry proclaims that Jesus has brought the reign of the heavens to earth as the fulfillment of the entire Old Testament. The book begins by introducing Jesus as the main subject. He is the Anointed One who comes as the King greater than David and the Offspring of Abraham who blesses all nations. Rev. Dr. John Genter, outgoing Assistant Professor of Theology at Concordia University—Nebraska and incoming Associate Professor of Exegetical Theology at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Matthew 1:1. “The Reign of Heaven Stands Near” is a series on Sharper Iron that studies the Gospel according to St. Matthew. The first evangelist proclaims that God has fulfilled His Old Testament promises by sending Jesus to bring the reign of the heavens among us. As the Son of David, Jesus is the gracious King we need, and as the Son of Abraham, Jesus is the blessing to all the families of the earth. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Pastor Appel serves at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, IL. In this episode of the Mind the Kids, Clara Faria speaks with Professor Nathalie Auger and Professor Howard Steiger about new research exploring how maternal anorexia nervosa may influence children's mental health and neurodevelopment.Using a large population-based cohort, the study examines links between maternal eating disorders and outcomes such as anorexia nervosa, attentional difficulties, and other psychiatric risks in offspring. The discussion highlights the role of genetic vulnerability, environmental exposure, and epigenetic mechanisms, offering a nuanced understanding of how risk is transmitted across generations. The episode also considers important clinical implications, including the benefits of early treatment, the importance of reducing stigma, and how supporting maternal mental health can improve outcomes for future generations.A must-listen for professionals in child and adolescent mental health, psychiatry, psychology, and anyone interested in eating disorders and developmental research.Read the CAMH journal paper ‘Maternal anorexia nervosa and risk of mental and neurodevelopmental morbidity in offspring'Sam Amar, Gabriel Côté-Corriveau, Mimi Israël, Howard Steiger, Nancy Low, Nicholas Chadi, Émilie Brousseau, Nahantara Lafleur, Nathalie AugerFirst published: 02 December 2025 https://doi.org/10.1111/camh.70051Get a free CPD/CME certificate for listening to this podcast by registering for a FREE ACAMH Learn account at https://bit.ly/4fF4BBWVisit https://www.acamh.orgFacebook and LinkedIn search / ACAMHInstagram https://www.instagram.com/assoc.camhBluesky https://bsky.app/profile/acamh.bsky.socialX https://x.com/acamh

First Community Church, 05.10.26 Dr. Rev. Glen Mikes- Sermon, What We Talk About When We Talk About God Part 2- We Are God's Offspring by First Community Church
Broadcast from KSQD, Santa Cruz on 5-07-2026: Dr. Dawn debunks the 1971 "220 minus age" maximum heart rate formula, noting a 2025 study found individual predictions were off by up to 20 beats per minute. She recommends the Tanaka equation (208 minus age) times 0.7, but emphasizes tracking improvement trends rather than absolute numbers. ConsumerLab testing found Safe Catch Wild Elite Pure Tuna and Wild Ahi Yellowfin Tuna had no detectable mercury, prompting Dr. Dawn to reconsider eating tuna after years of avoidance due to concerns about mercury bioaccumulation and its effects on nerve microtubules. A meta-analysis of 115 studies involving 55,000 men found limiting ejaculation before IVF leads to increased sperm DNA damage and poorer motility. Clinical trials showed 46% IVF pregnancy rates with less than 48 hours abstinence versus 36% with longer periods. A personalized mRNA vaccine for pancreatic cancer showed striking results: of 16 patients whose tumors were surgically removed, half produced killer T-cells targeting cancer, and seven of those eight remain alive six years later. Pfizer and Valneva's Lyme disease vaccine reduced infection by over 70% in a trial of 9,400 people ages five and up. Nearly half a million Americans contract Lyme annually, and chronic infection can cause nervous system damage and chronic fatigue. Dr. Dawn explores the gray-market peptide ecosystem, where compounds are sold as "research chemicals" with wink-and-nod marketing. A 2018 Belgian study found purity levels ranging from 5% to 99.9%, with some samples containing arsenic, lead, or industrial contaminants. A study of 450 people found that blocking smartphone internet access for two weeks improved sustained attention equivalent to reversing 10 years of age-related cognitive decline, with depression symptom improvements comparable to cognitive behavioral therapy. A multi-country study of 241 unresponsive patients found that 25% showed brain activity indicating consciousness when asked to imagine playing tennis during advanced brain scans. Scientists call this cognitive motor dissociation, and by some estimates tens of thousands of Americans may be misdiagnosed. Chinese researchers grew functional adrenal cortex organoids that responded to pituitary hormones and produced cortisol when transplanted into mice. They also introduced genetic mutations to create organoid models of Cushing's syndrome for drug testing. A Science paper identified the neural pathway connecting psychological stress to eczema flare-ups: sympathetic neurons from the stellate ganglion recruit eosinophils to the skin. Researchers traced the pathway using pseudo-rabies virus injected into skin. Mouse studies showed prenatal stress causes elevated corticosterone in amniotic fluid, which activates fetal mast cells derived from the yolk sac. Offspring develop eczema-like lesions in areas receiving mechanical stimulation, but symptoms resolve around 24 weeks when bone marrow-derived mast cells replace the activated ones. Callers ask about CBN side effects. Dr. Dawn explains cannabinoids prolong anandamide's calming effects by slowing its breakdown, and considers 30-45mg over a night reasonable, but cautions against escalating doses given limited research.

You might know Patrick Brammall from Offspring, No Activity, the global hit Colin from Accounts, and as the voice of Uncle Rad on Bluey. Now, Patrick stars opposite Anne Hathaway in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, a film with a global audience, a cultural legacy, and a level of attention he hasn’t experienced before. And to think he originally turned it down. In this conversation, recorded the day before the film’s release, Patrick talks to Kate Langbroek about the long road that got him here. From a childhood shaped by serious health challenges, to the uncertainty of an acting career, to finding his voice as a writer and creator. He opens up about building a life and a family with Harriet Dyer, becoming a father, and how that’s changed the way he thinks about success, ambition, and the opportunities he chooses. He also shares what it was like stepping into a franchise like The Devil Wears Prada, including the surprise of having a steamy scene cut from the final film. You are the product of your choices. The purpose of God's plan for you is to learn to choose wisely, to make increasingly better choices until you learn to make the best choices, the choices God would make. It's that simple. There is a God who is the Creator of all things. You are His child. Offspring may become like their parents in each of life's many divisions and you may become like yours. As His child and in His likeness, you have the innate potential and capacity to advance from one degree of light and intelligence to the next, and from there on to the next beyond that and on and on until, in the process of a very long time and with the right conditions and choices, you become like Him. What else could be the natural conclusion of the evolution of a child, if not to that of the parents? The full realization of your divine potential, however, is not inevitable. It is no more inevitable than a child in this life matching either the superb character or excellent achievements of an outstanding father or mother. One may be born into greatness, but greatness achieved must be won by each individually. Greatness actualized and greatness internalized comes neither by birth nor environment, rather by choice.
Now that Jacob has died, Joseph's brothers worry that Joseph's forgiveness may vanish, even after so many years. They plead before Joseph, who weeps at their request. Joseph assures them that God has accomplished good even through their intended evil, and Joseph promises that he will care not only for his brothers, but for their children as well. The book of Genesis concludes by recounting Joseph's death many years later. Even as Joseph dies in Egypt, his prophecy concerning God's coming deliverance from the land of Egypt concludes Genesis with a note of hope. Rev. Jacob reiterates his command that he be buried in the Promised Land in the same place where his fathers are buried. When Jacob dies, Joseph grieves and provides for his father's instructions to be followed. The funeral procession from Egypt to the Promised Land is filled with pomp and circumstance, but at its heart, Jacob's burial confesses the reality of resurrection that the LORD promises to His people. Before he dies, Jacob gathers his twelve sons to him to bless them by speaking prophetically concerning the days to come for each of his sons and their descendants. He speaks first to the sons of Leah, then to the sons of the maidservants, and finally to the sons of Rachel. The first three sons of Jacob hear words that recount former sins. Through the fourth son, Judah, the line of the Christ will continue by God's grace. Many of the sons hear words that prove true geographically in the history of Israel. To Joseph especially Jacob reserves words of great favor and love. The prayer that Jacob includes right in the middle expresses his faith: “I wait for your salvation, O LORD.” Rev. When Joseph learns that his father is near death, he takes his sons with him to receive a blessing from Jacob. In thanksgiving to what God has done for him, Jacob adopts Joseph's two sons as his own. Although Joseph arranged his sons so that the older would be blessed at Jacob's right and the younger at Jacob's left, Jacob crossed his hands to bless the younger over the older. Jacob's blessing is efficacious, and Ephraim becomes one of the most prominent tribes in the nation of Israel, even over the descendants of his older brother Manasseh. Rev. As the famine continues into the third year and beyond, even the residents of Egypt begin to run out of the food that they had stored for themselves. Through a series of stages, Joseph receives their livestock, their land, and their service into the possession of Pharaoh so that he can provide food for Egypt and keep the nation from death. Even as Egypt suffers during the famine, the family of Israel multiplies in Goshen. After living in Egypt seventeen years, Jacob prepares for his death by making Joseph swear to bury him in the same tomb as his fathers. Rev. After twenty years apart, the reunion of Jacob and Joseph overflows with joy. Joseph prepares his family to go before Pharaoh's court so that his family will receive the blessing of dwelling in the land of Goshen. Pharaoh welcomes the family of Israel into the land of Egypt, even granting to them the best of the land. As Jacob stands before Pharaoh, Jacob confesses the reality of life in this world plagued by sin, yet he is also not without the hope of faith in the true God. Rev. When Jacob's sons arrive back in Canaan, his heart is understandably numb and unbelieving to hear that Joseph is still alive. Yet the repentant testimony of his sons revives his spirit, and Jacob rejoices that he will go to Egypt to see Joseph before he dies. God Himself comes to Jacob to encourage him in this course of action. God renews His promise to make Jacob into a great nation, to be with Jacob as he travels to Egypt, and to bring Jacob back. In that confidence, Jacob takes his family to Egypt. The growing family is relatively small at this point, but God will be faithful to multiply His people even in a foreign land and to bring them back to the Promised Land. Rev. Joseph's emotions overcome him upon seeing his brothers' repentance. He sends the Egyptians out of the room as he reveals his true identity to his brothers. In an account that anticipates Jesus' post-resurrection appearances, Joseph tells his brothers that God has been at work to send him to Egypt ahead of time to preserve life. After the initial shock, the joy of reconciliation and reunion overflows among all twelve brothers. Pharaoh instructs Joseph to bring his father and his family to settle in Egypt, and the sons of Israel return to Canaan to bring their father and all the household to Egypt. Rev. Once Joseph's brothers have departed homeward, he sends his steward after them to confront them about the silver cup he has placed in Benjamin's sack. The brothers' ignorance quickly turns to grief upon realizing that Benjamin has been implicated. Where they had once abandoned Joseph to slavery, they now turn back to Egypt with Benjamin. Judah's confession before Joseph reveals true repentance, as the brothers realize they cannot clear themselves. Judah pleads with Joseph for the sake of his father and Benjamin. Judah shows the true love of a brother and provides a picture of the love of Christ for sinners. Rev.
