It's a bummer, man, all this warping and what it's doing to the space-time continuum. But of course let's not talk about it too much because we've got some extremely important cat content to handle first. Geordi ain't a cat person, and Data can't train the cat very well by asking Spot to get down. There's a Ferengi who may have disabled a Federation ship, but actually it's two terrorist siblings doing that in the warp corridor. Serova is so convinced the warping is destroying their planet, that she is willing to put her life on the line. That rattles the crew, Geordi, and has implications for the rest of the franchise. This episode has it all! An exciting opening where the Enterprise saves Tessen III from a rogue asteroid! The return of fan favorites Alexander and Lwaxana Troi! A bunch of kooky holodeck characters who can juggle and shake dat ass! And mud bath after mud bath! So much mud! You won't believe all the mud! After being knocked around and paralyzed so far this season, Worf is further humiliated when we see what a terrible father he is...again. His conflicts with the willful-but-still-adorable toddler Alexander are made worse when Troi's mother Lwaxana comes to visit. Seems she's found herself a new husband and plans to get married on Starfleet's own Love Boat, the Enterprise. But she still has time to interfere with her daughter's efforts to teach Worf how to be a good dad because of course she does. All this, and yet another shiny entity wrecks havoc on the ship to give the rest of the cast something to do. Will Deanna be able to mend relations between Worf and Alexander? Will Data and Geordi be able to stop the fairy lights from destroying the ship? Will someone please shove me into an airlock and shoot me out into space, so I can enjoy the soothing peace of the vacuum of the void? Even more available at: https://tngeez.com

Ever wonder what Jean-Luc Picard looks like with hair on his head? Find out in “Violations”! It's an all-new episode of ST:TNGeez . . . Once again, the Enterprise D is making like a Galaxy Class Uber and ferrying some folks around the quadrant. This time, it's a trio of Ullians, a race who are able to excavate memories from others using telepathy. Sounds like a fun party trick like pulling a quarter out of someone's ear or guessing their card, but those tricks usually don't put people in comas. Before you can say “Berlinghoff Rasmussen,” Troi is in a coma. The crew is stunned, and then Riker falls into a coma! The crew is shocked, and then Bev falls into a coma! The crew is now actively perturbed and seeking solutions! Hey, you think the Ullians have something to do with it? (Worf did!) Well, duh, but Geordi and Data need to find a way to connect the dots and revive their beloved crewmates before anyone else falls prey to this mysterious malady. What or who could be the cause of this coma plague? Will the victims ever wake up? Is it possible this plot could be any more heavy-handed and obvious? Even more available at: https://tngeez.com

Anika and Liz put on their least comfortable lounging clothes and settle in to discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation, season 6, episode 22, "Suspicions". Why is Beverly Crusher hosting an astrophysics conference? And other questions that will forever go unanswered However, this episode, which makes no sense in the context of TNG, makes a LOT of sense in the context of Star Trek: Picard, and its theme of marginalised people doing SCIENCE is resonant in 2025 You're not gonna believe this, but you can't actually just substitute Beverly for Geordi and Worf and not make any other changes to a story Breaking down the Star Trek monocultures This unremarkable episode has one of Picard's best speeches in the entire franchise Beverly Crusher puts on heels and pantyhose to lounge around at home, because athleisurewear had not yet been invited in 1993 PITCH: the next streaming movie should be about Philippa Georgiou and Guinan DOING A HEIST
Relics (Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), S6 E4) was recommended by Kyyanno (Kyy for short, rhymes with Sky), he/him, who said: I've always loved the engineering side of Trek, from the designs of the ships to the entirely fictional but awesome systems that make them tick. I've read "Mr Scott's guide to the Enterprise" and the TNG "Technical Manual" from cover to cover many a time. Scotty was my favourite character from TOS, and Geordi from TNG, both making me want to pursue a career in engineering while growing up (which indeed I did!). To have both characters appearing *and* working together in the same episode of TNG was an absolute dream for me when it originally aired! Now that I'm older though, I watch the episode with more experienced eyes. Scotty's just trying to help and feel useful as he would have been, and yet just gets in the way, at least that's the impression he gets from Geordi, who is genuinely just trying to get his job done but doesn't quite realise his impact on Captain Scott's feelings. It's Picard's words to Scott in the holodeck, and then to Geordi later on that all a person wants is to be useful and feel wanted that *REALLY* hit home, 3 decades on.Sure, this episode pushes the fanboy buttons, but deep down it also makes us take a look at how we treat those around us who we feel might be past their prime (or how those of us approaching that age might feel). I did always find the "oh no, we're falling into the sun" part of the episode.... hang on.... *I SAY WE EJECT THE WARP CORE*.... don't they miraculously seem to fix everything amazingly in time to turn around and then get out of there once the doors open? Regardless, both Geordi and Scotty save the day, and the engineer in me squees with glee at it.Relics first aired on October 12, 1992, written by Ronald D. Moore, and directed by Alexander SingerThe Enterprise investigates a vessel that crashed on the surface of a Dyson sphere 75 years ago. A pattern is found in the transporter buffer that turns out to be Montgomery Scott. He is released from the buffer and later agrees to return to the vessel with Geordi to help restore the logs. They become the only hope when the Enterprise is accidentally pulled inside the sphere. The Enterprise is coursing around the galaxy when they've been asked to aid in some propulsion event that Geordi gets a space bone about when something even more exciting happens… Worf's Mom shows up and his son! Hold onto your seats everyone, this space adventure is about to get all up in your… responsibilities! That's right, just like in the original series when Kirk rolled up his sleeves and was about to get to fist-cuffing, when his five year old son shows up and… wait, that didn't happen! Or remember when the original crew had to figure out how to save a death engine from eating another planet and suddenly the episode became all about day care? Wait! That didn't happen either. It's Worf bonding with Alexander, his son, who he could give two Klingon shits about, or KLARTS — Picard's got his jacket back on again and doing his best to coach his Klingon Security Commander when everyone including Bev, his teacher, are all But hey, this episode has a gnarly warp wave! An exploding spaceship, and the bridge… it rocks and people fall out of their chairs! — including Deana Troi! Oh no! Troi, I think she might have bruised her Telepathy! And her hip! This year (2024) was the 30th anniversary of the first Star Trek The Next Generation movie. This movie had some great moments and some wonderful themes but overall, we have our issues. From the death of Kirk to the destruction of the Enterprise-D to Geordi's visor there are many points in the movie that we feel they just plan messed up. We dive into all of that and more as we finally get down to ranting about this movie. Aliza and Sue welcome Heather Rae Barker for a deep dive into how chronic pain shows up in Star Trek. Frequent pain-related questions like "Do the Borg feel pain?" and "Why does Geordi refuse pain relief for his visor?" are explored, before revisiting the DS9 episode "Melora" and finding modern day parallels to accessibility and the burdens of adaptability. The collective sigh of rut roh when Geordi sees Acquiel for the first time ... in that WIG! It's a murder mystery unlike you've ever seen before with a shape-shifting body-snatching thing eating dogs and taking names. The Klingons are here and Gowron's name gets thrown around, which is a nice touch. Levar Burton has to wrestle with a tough script and go to extremes while the guest star has a hard time finding the chemistry. All in all, no one comes out looking great in this one, not even Riker telling Geordi to cool it down a little. Get in touch with us on BlueSky @ReEngageTNG.bsky.social! It's a mid-season two-parter! Let's jump into an extremely important episode full of editing choices and amazing performances around the horn. Captain Jericho is a real sociopath, and he takes over the Enterprise as Picard, Worf, and Crusher train in secret for the secret mission involving Cardashians. Riker's beard is bristling, Geordi is flabbergasted at Jellico's changes, and Crusher is gassed from running through caves. Captain Jellicle Cat insults Riker straight to Picard's face, then tells Troi to put on a proper uniform when she tells Jellico to cool it down with the crew. The mission goes off, with Picard telling them they are infiltrating a Cardassian weapons lab. It's a trap, and Picard is captured. TO BE CONTINUED. Geordi is flying to Risa, the pleasure planet, for some much deserved time off when he ends up getting kidnapped by the Romulans! Wait, the Romulans? Yes, the Romulans! Does this have something to do with the rumors the Federation is arming rebels on a Klingon colony on the Federation/Klingon border? A Klingon ambassador named Kell comes aboard the Enterprise to help Picard and the crew ease tensions and prove the Federation's innocence. The Klingon governor Vagh doesn't believe Picard for one bald minute and tensions continue to build. Meanwhile, there's a Romulan agent aboard activating the recently brainwashed Geordi! What is LaForge programmed to do? Who's the Romulan operative? And will Geordi ever have an episode where he isn't being tortured, transformed, or tormented? Those little robots are so dang cute! Geordi meets with Dr. Firalalalon... who has a new mining technique she's perfecting on a new planet. The good doctor also made these cool little floating tools with self-replicating circuitry. One of them saves itself from destruction in a mining accident and Data pauses on that bit for a moment. Then he figures out there is life behind their oval-shaped exterior. "Do we think it's alive?" he asks Crusher, Picard and eventually Dr. Frialalalalala. And she is pissed, until one of the Exocomps saves the day by sacrificing itself. Back to the mining laser, Doctor! Get in touch with us on BlueSky @ReEngageTNG.bsky.social! Ready to boldly go and discover exciting new worlds? Yeah, sure, but first we have to run some errands. This time, the Enterprise D is dispatched to see why the very impressive, nuclear powered Argus Array isn't working. That's right! The Argus Array, a badass telescope! The flagship of the Federation staffed with the crew that single-handedly stopped the Borg from invading earth, is investigating when they discover a foreign probe floating near the array. Geordi takes returning guest star Reg Barclay in a shuttle to get a closer look at the giant space suppository. There's a flash of light that knocks Barclay unconscious, and after a merry chase, the Enterprise destroys the pursuing probe. Looks like everything is back to normal and they can focus on fixing the array. Isn't that a relief? Oh wait, we forgot to mention that Barclay is now a super genius who dazzles everyone with his newfound brains and charm . . . until he takes over the ship! Will pissy Picard manage to regain control? Will Barclay score with Counselor Troi? Will Data and Barclay face off in a game of Jeopardy!? Data reads poetry, and Riker is sleepy as fuck! Clicking aliens, this episode is heavy on the horror side of genre. The fishmonks are assholes and have been stealing crewmembers of the Enterprise away from this dimension. We follow Riker's perspective, but it's happening to Geordi, Worf, and that other lady, too. To figure it all out, Troi takes them into the holodeck where they recreate from memory together where they've been abducted to. The climax is a bit of a disappointment, but the premise of Schisms is solid. Just make sure you stay awake for the end of the poetry reading. And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend. Get in touch with us on BlueSky @ReEngageTNG.bsky.social! We need more development, Scotty! It's the return of Captain Montgomery Scott by way of James Doohan by way of a jury-rigged transporter buffer. The Enterprise encounters a Dyson sphere in the middle of space, and a Federation transport ship crashed on its massive surface. Geordi rescues Scotty from the transporter, but can't rescue him from feeling old. Like a relic from the past, if I may be so bold. The bridge of the Enterprise from the original series - NOT the movies - is visited in the holodeck, and the ambiguously engineer duo of Scotty and Geordi team up to get the ship out of the garage before the door closes. All in all, more was desired from this TOS incursion, but it was a good drink, nonetheless. Bright green, of course. Get in touch with us on BlueSky @ReEngageTNG.bsky.social! When Captain Burnham wakes up on a different network for the finale, she does triangle right and earns a chat with a dead Progenitor. But when she turns down the steward job and stashes The Greatest Discovery inside a black hole, an epilogue answers questions that no one knew they had. Is the Geordi training protocol no longer in use? Who was unwilling to wear the loaf? What's a red flag during any job interview? Poor Geordi. Dom Bettinellli, Jimmy Akin, and Fr. Cory Sticha discuss this TNG story that combines a ticking clock story with Geordi's awkward romantic track record and a strange holodeck encounter, plus discussion of AI in Trek and Picard's leadership.
