We are a group of people learning to follow Jesus, helping others to have a relationship with Him, and loving the people of Campbell River.
This Sunday, we will continue our sermon series called The Weary World Rejoices, and we will be looking at the names of Jesus and ultimately how He is love. We all forget who God is and what He has done for us from one day to another. Like you, I too must remind myself each year who Jesus is and why His birth is so incrediblenot because my mind doesnt know but because my heart ceases to be amazed. In the words of Jen Wilkin, The heart cannot love what the mind does not know, so Ive endeavoured to engage both our hearts and our minds in worship. This Christmas, let our hearts be full of the wonder of Jesus and rejoice!
Daily life usually sets us on a path that's almost robotic, and we forget to see God in all things - the good, the tragic, or even the mundane. Think of your day today. Did you see Him in your kids' laughter, the homeless person on the corner, or even the papers you stapled? He was there. Join us as we discover how to see God even during difficult times.
Everyone of us deals with unrealized hopes and minimal options. Jesus wants us to understand how to live through the unmet expectations and disappointments in life.
Faith is sure and certain. Why is it, though, that my faith is often unsure and uncertain? Sometimes we find ourselves with a sort-a-kind-a-faith. Let's explore some obstacles to real faith in Jesus.
Miracles Series #3 - Lazarus In the gospels we see that Jesus always reacted against dead people. They didn't stay dead. There are things in our lives that are dead. Jesus reacts against them as well. Jesus came so that we could live, really live.
We Live in a culture of finding a quick fix for everything. Spiritually many are searching for a miracle. If Jesus is a healer how is He healing me.
This Sunday we dive into #6 (and our last) of our Fearless Series. The story of David is famous but also teaches us valuable lessons as we face the daily challenges of life.
We are going to dive in #5 in our Fearless Series as we look into 1 Samuel 14 and the story of King Saul and his son Jonathan as each viewed the world from a different perspective.
The book of Daniel features a well known story of Three Friends who were united by faith and tested by fire as they depended upon their Big God. How big is your God?
The book of Judges tells us a unique story of a gifted woman named Deborah who was a fearless leader in a time of uncertainty and oppression. Her story has a lot to teach us about thriving in our uncertain times.
This week Pastor Dwight will be talking about Gideon, and how when faced with the challenges and obstacles of life our insecurities can hinder us from accomplishing what God has for us. We can learn valuable lessons from God's interaction with a timid Gideon.
This week Pastor Dwight will be starting a new sermon series called "Fearless" we will look at some very rich Old Testament stories of people who were absolutely fearless as they overcame some very big obstacles. The first is an obscure warrior who was willing to chase a lion. Are there lions in your life that you need to chase?
The Prophet Jeremiah gives insight into the plans God has for his people.
God is a Good Father who loves us, takes care of us, and wants to give us good gifts. Pastor David Lee
I think most people would agree that hypocrisy is really off-putting. In this morning’s message Pastor David will explore what Jesus said about the importance of authenticity in our walk with God.
"Go out there, share your living water, let it flood out. You're here for a reason and I know that God has great plans for your city..."
"We must not look at each other as a problem to be solved...we need to be looking for God working in each other's lives." -Brian Down
"Come, allow the rule and reign of Christ to fill your life" -Brian Miller
"Our forgiveness of others should not be limited if we are to reflect the character of God" -Chris Coon
What is an experience that caused your trust in someone to grow? In Pastor Jeffs last sermon at CRBC, he teaches us to grow in our trust in God and to change the things we 'meditate' on.
"I beleive that Jesus' invitation to come to him is an invitation for us all to empty out our weariness, and our heavy burdens..."
Please watch/listen to Ryan preach on how to learn from Jesus’ example, how to spend our time wisely.
"We are accepted as children of God through faith. It's not something we do, it's not something we earn, it's a gift." -Jeff Beselt
“Mercy gives people room. Make sure grace is part of every relationship, each conversation. Don’t make everyone feel like you’re the judge, jury, and executioner.” - Brian Down
"The unexpectedness of the incarnation (John 1:1-18) and atoning death (Matt 26:26-28) of Jesus and how we need to approach God in humility, confessing our sin and need of his salvation. The stories of the shepherds (Luke 2:8-20) & Joseph’s dream (Matt 1:20-25) are good illustrations of this point." - Pastor David Lee
"We often associate our gift-giving tradition to the gifts of the Magi to Jesus, but in reality Christmas gift-giving originates with God himself who gives us the gift of eternal life. I’m focussing on Romans 6:23 (we earn death; God’s gift is eternal life); Romans 3:23 & 1 John 1:10 (all have sinned); and John 1:12,13 & Ephesians 2:8,9 (we receive God’s gift by faith and not works)." - Pastor David Lee
"The big idea of the message is how we can effectively share Christ in our secular society. I plan to emphasis 4 ideas developed by Paul: (1) devote yourself to prayer; (2) be wise toward outsiders; (3) make the most of every opportunity; and (4) let your conversation be filled with grace." - Pastor David Lee
In Matthew 11, Jesus uses a farming analogy for discipleship that is different than other analogies he uses (like cross-bearing). This analogy is not so much a challenge as an invitation to rest. In this message I plan to explore: (1) who are the weary and burdened?; (2) what is this invitation to rest?; and (3) what does it mean to “take my yoke upon you”? In short, I hope to explain that Jesus is inviting the weary and burdened (who realize that they cannot get rest through trying to be righteous) to find rest in him. Rest because in him we find grace. Rest because in him we are forgiven. Rest because in him we are accepted and belong. Rest because in him we receive God’s greatest gift—the gift of eternal life which means knowing him for eternity. - Pastor David Lee
"In this text Paul instructs us to set our hearts and minds on things above where Christ is seated. This speaks to our desires and thoughts. I think it parallels Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:33. Building on that general principle he then tells us what not to do—live according to the old life (vss. 5-10). We are to put off this old life like dirty clothes. What we are to do is put on the clean clothes of the new life (vss. 12-14). I’m concluding with 6 instructions from vss 15-17 which answer the question, “How are we to live out our discipleship in the contemporary world?” Be a person of peace Be constantly thankful Fill your mind with the word of Christ Teach and encourage others Worship God throughout the day Do everything for God" - Pastor David Lee
In Colossians 2 Paul confronts religious legalism and points to the new life we have in Christ which is not legalistic. In particular he says… Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Col. 2:16,17 and… Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence. Col. 2:23 - Pastor David Lee
"Paul is concerned that we not fall into false righteousness based on religious rules. He’s already discovered that to be a dead-end (see his own experience described in Phil. 3:6-9). The problem Paul is addressing here is that we might replace the reality with the shadow. We might commit ourselves to rites & rituals, rules & traditions, even strict regimes that involve self denial—all of which seem to make us holy—rather than energetically pursuing the true righteousness found in Christ alone. He is also concerned that those who are holding to “hollow and deceptive philosophies which depend on human traditions and the elemental spiritual forces” are judging the people who are not (see Col. 2:16-19). In other words, in this church religious legalists are putting pressure on those who are not legalists to become legalists to prove their genuine commitment to Christ through legalism!" Pastor David Lee
The four vital facts about Jesus are: (1) Jesus is the creator of everything; (2) Jesus is God made visible; (3) Jesus made peace through his blood; and (4) Jesus is the head of the church (including CRBC!). I hope to inspire awe as we reflect on the majestic of our Creator who is greater than the combined energy of all the stars. - Pastor David Lee
"We must continually grow in the knowledge of God's will so that we will live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way" -Pastor David Lee
"The incredible message of the gospel is that anything worthwhile we become or accomplish is rooted in the mercy and grace of God who is working in us and through us." -Pastor David Lee
