Start your free trial at trainheroic.comThe Core Four — Four Cognitive Traps Killing Military Human PerformanceDrew and Alex gave a standing-room-only breakout at the H2F Symposium on this. Now they have time to actually unpack it. Four heuristics that show up everywhere in military human performance — and in every human-run organization. You can't escape them, but you can at least recognize them. What we get into:Goodhart's Law — when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure. The AFT was designed to signal readiness. The moment it became an incentivized metric, people started optimizing the score instead of the fitness. Same thing happened in Vietnam with body counts. The cure: use multiple metrics, reward more than test scores, and acknowledge what the assessment was actually supposed to tell you.McNamara Fallacy — only what can be quantified matters. The first step is measuring what's easy. The second is disregarding what can't be measured. The third is assuming the unmeasurable isn't important. The fourth is deciding it doesn't exist. Sound familiar? Social cohesion, trust, culture, the music playing in the gym — none of these show up on a dashboard. All of them matter enormously. Every minute a coach spends measuring is a minute they spend not coaching.Hammond's Corollary — what gets measured gets managed, but what most needs managing isn't always measurable. The soldier with a perfect AFT score who can't pick up a ruck without throwing out his back. Fitness versus capability. Athleticism versus fitness. You know it when you see it — and just because you can't put it on a graph doesn't mean it doesn't exist.Nazareth syndrome — no man is a prophet in his own home. The one place Jesus got the most skepticism was Nazareth, because they knew him as the carpenter. The embedded human performance team dealing with real constraints gets ignored. The outside consultant with slick branding and a two-day seminar gets the senior leader's full attention. You can't eliminate this one — but you can use it to your advantage.Mentioned in this episode:Drew's article — The Death of Periodization at mopsandmoes.comChris Frankel — assessment framework: camera, map, crystal ball, engineVF Ridgway, 1956 — the actual origin of "what gets measured gets managed"Justice Potter Stewart, 1964 — the porn quote. American leaders are staying in office past their prime. Boomers are reluctant to relinquish control — from political offices to corner offices — to the detriment of their juniors. In a society where the elderly hold so much power, should younger generations revolt?  My guest today is Samuel Moyn, a professor at Yale Law School, and he argues that American democracy is distorted by the power of the old. We discuss how seniors have hoarded wealth and influence and how Americans can renew an intergenerational compact. 0:00 The Tyranny of the Elderly 2:01 From Joe Biden to Mitch McConnell 4:19 Europe's Anti-Gerontocracy 5:15 Politicians are the ‘Tip of the Iceberg' 7:07 The Dark Side of Longevity 9:40 How Age Impacts Policy 15:10 The Age Wealth Gap 20:21 How About Millennials? 23:28 Age Limits and Youth Power 38:14 Care Hoarding and Family Burdens 44:54 The Assisted Suicide Debate 50:14 Personal Stakes (A full transcript of this episode is available on the Times website.) Vice President JD Vance is widely perceived as the most likely candidate to be America's 48th President, followed closely by the excellent Marco Rubio.  And certainly Vance presents many personal and professional qualities one would seek in a President of the United States, not least his patent love of nation. The elephant in the room, of course, is that JD Vance is married to a woman, Usha, who although born in America is in many ways culturally Indian, including in her religious dietary practices. This at a time in American history when we seem awash in tens of millions of Indian migrants who appear utterly resistant and disinterested in assimilating into our American culture, instead establishing their own ethnic enclaves, arguably engaging in predatory take-over of many American industries that were traditionally paths of upward mobility for American citizens, and to a large extent making America less America and more Indian—which would seem to be in neither the interests of America nor India. This has led some prominent voices on the American political right, perhaps more accurately termed the nationalist right, meaning prioritizing the interests of the American nation over other interests, to proclaim that if JD Vance is the candidate they will decline to cast a vote in the 2028 Presidential elections on the grounds that they are not interested in voting for an American president with an “Indian” spouse. That American culture is facing an existential threat at the hands of massive third-world invasion of our country seems incontestable, and the nation's cultural survival rather obviously depends on, well, it's cultural survival—keeping America American. Does this concern warrant playing absent from casting a vote in the 2028 Presidential election?I suggest not—and for much the same reasons I was opposed to this same take when it came to voting for Donald Trump for President in 2016.Join me LIVE at 9 AM ET as I break it all down!Clarence Thomas x 9: Perfect SCOTUS Mugs! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kFor complete Medicare guidance, dial (617) 644-0093 to speak with my trusted partner, Chapter. All @TheBrancaShow mugs & MORE! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kJOIN OUR COMMUNITY! In this episode of Bare-Knuckle B2B, our hosts Kavita Singh and Matt Hicks sit down with Fujitsu's Andrea Clatworthy to ask a blunt question: have we hit peak martech? With 15,000+ vendors, low adoption, and only a fraction of functionality actually used, they dig into why marketers keep getting dazzled by shiny platforms, how to stop treating tech as a crutch for weak strategy, and why clicks, impressions, and other vanity metrics are quietly devaluing marketing in the boardroom. Andrea shares how Fujitsu has deliberately avoided the “mega ABM platform” route, instead using a lean spine of CRM, automation, intent data, and smart agency partnerships to get the outcomes without the bloated stack. They also explore how AI is amplifying both the promise and the problems of martech—from cheap, fractional tools creeping into teams to leaders overestimating cost savings and underestimating the adoption effort. Andrea warns that without a clear strategy, strong skills, and a shared view of what good looks like, AI and martech risk becoming expensive comfort blankets rather than genuine growth drivers especially when marketers are still rewarded for vanity metrics instead of meaningful business impact. Some of you may know Adam as one of the co-hosts of the Streets Ahead podcast. At Fusion Media, Adam created the #BikeIsBest campaign, which included a brilliant video that showed people using far more powerful tools than they needed to do ordinary household tasks. It cuts right to the absurdity of building a system where people default to using pickups, SUVs, and other large automobiles just to do simple tasks like getting milk at a nearby store. In this conversation, Adam explains that a concept called "pluralistic ignorance" can make it difficult to build the kinds of streets we all want, but there is hope. The radioactively-poisoned Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, located near Paducah, Kentucky, is exposed by former Department of Energy - Citizens Advisory Board (CAB) Chair, Mark Donham.  The Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PGDP) was notorious for intentional radioactive releases to the atmophere, which caused the surrounding communities and environment to become contaminated by uranium, neptunium, plutonium, technetium-99, other radioactive isotopes and toxic chemicals.  • PGDP used the code wording "Midnight Negatives" to purge radioactive and highly toxic chemical contaminants into the air at night using a jetting system through the top stacks of the cascade buildings. • PGDP buried highly contaminated waste products on-site in unlined landfills, as well as trenches, in order to quickly bury the proof of life-killing waste produced there.  • 30,000 + Depleted Uranium cylinders stored on-site, in open air without any protection. A company cannot move quickly when every decision requires unanimous approval. Leadership means listening to the team without surrendering the responsibility to make the final call. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why consensus-driven leadership slows execution, weakens authority, and pushes businesses toward safe, average decisions. Strong leaders gather input. They study the facts. Then they decide. Your team does not need a CEO who avoids conflict. They need someone willing to absorb the pressure, make the difficult choice, and provide a clear direction forward. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why waiting for unanimous approval destroys business agility• How excessive compromise leads to weak, average decisions• Why leaders should collect advice without giving up final authority• How conviction and rapid decision-making increase market velocity The truth is simple: Leadership is not about being liked by everyone. It is about making the decision the business needs. Gather the information. Run the numbers. Make the call. Then lead the team forward with confidence. You are the captain of the ship. "Most of the money problems we talk about with Bitcoin — they're not money problems. They're time problems." Scott Dedels — founder of Block Rewards and author of The Age of Time — says the clock is a technology. It was invented about 600 years ago, and somewhere along the way we forgot it was ever invented at all. His claim: the problem of time is upstream of the problem of money. Fiat was downstream of a civilization that had already agreed to be ruled by a machine that only moves forward, in the direction of consumption. We went from asking what is time to only ever asking what time is it. We get into the Prague Orloj and the birth of mechanical time, the 1944 essay that turned time into a commodity, Saturn as civilization's invisible operating system, why we stopped building 300-year cathedrals, AI and the information hyperstream — and Bitcoin as a ten-minute heartbeat no one controls. Tonight, in this incendiary investigative edition of Light ‘Em Up!We're burying our nose into the international intrigue, kidnapping and arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The arrest of Maduro is not the first time the US has captured a sitting head of government in Latin America. In December 1989, the George H.W. Bush administration launched Operation Just Cause, deploying over 24,000 U.S. troops to depose Panama's Manuel Noriega and bring him to the United States to face federal drug-trafficking charges. For the longest time, President Trump has had a “hard on” for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.Maduro is accused by U.S. authorities of being one of the world's largest narco-traffickers, actively working with cartels to smuggle fentanyl-laced cocaine into the U.S. and engaging in narco-terrorism.In March 2020, Maduro was charged in a Southern District of New York federal indictment for:—     narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine,—     possession of machine guns and destructive devices,—     and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices in violation of Title 21 U.S.C. §§ 960a and 963, and 18 U.S.C. § 924.—     The U.S. Government initially offered a reward offer of up to $15 million for any information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Nicolás Maduro Moros in 2020.  The Biden Administration's Department of State on January 8, 2025, announced raising the reward offer to up to $25 million and ultimately $50 million under Trump 2.0.President Trump's opposition to Maduro was driven by Maduro's alleged authoritarian governance, political corruption, and alleged involvement in large-scale drug trafficking.Trump also frequently criticized Maduro for undermining democratic elections (as he himself has done) and allying with U.S. geopolitical rivals like China, Russia, and Iran.In this episode, we'll shine the antiseptic light of the truth and examine:The allegations that Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Adela Flores de Maduro stand accused of — and have been indicted on.As you know from previous episodes of Light ‘Em Up:Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty at trial or by plea.—     Straight from the indictment we'll investigate the Trump administration's case and legal arguments …—     We'll examine the legal nuances of the DOJ indictment detailing narco-terrorism and drug trafficking charges,—     As well as the international impacts and law that cover head of state sovereignty, state sovereignty and the “legality” of such a sweeping international action.—     All with an intense focus on the response from the EU, Latin America, China, Russia.Trump says, “The Venezuelan people are “Happy”.  We've learned differently. The fallout from this raid continues to shape international relations, with global leaders split between condemning the breach of sovereignty and supporting the removal of an autocratic regime.Arresting and extraditing your political enemies can serve as a convenient way to get rid of political rivals — but it doesn't make the process clean, easy or lawful. Was this massive use of military force in Caracas a violation of international law, and more specifically Article 2 §4 of The UN Charter? Is Mr. Maduro entitled to immunity as the head of state of a sovereign country?  The U.S. government maintains that he obtained the status through a fraudulent election. General Noriega made a similar claim and lost.Nicolás Maduro declared himself a prisoner of war, a status that the last Latin American leader seized by U.S. forces, Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega, also claimed. What will be the geopolitical impact for Venezuela and what does its future look like in conjunction with President Trump's declaration that the U.S. would “oversee” Venezuela's transition, and the subsequent installation of Maduro's Number 2 … interim president Delcy Rodríguez. These actions will certainly have broader geopolitical and energy implications for the region. The search for the truth and justice begins RIGHT HERE … and RIGHT NOW!Tune in for all the explosive details and our sponsors Newsly & Feedspot! We want to hear from you!Support the show

July 17th 2026 Yuriy recalls meeting a Kurdish sheikh in Iraq about 10 years earlier, a lifelong warrior who had fought ISIS, Al Qaeda, Saddam Hussein's army, and rival Kurdish clans, and who said he “shot people because he couldn't shoot an ideology.” When pressed on how such different enemies shared one ideology, the sheikh explained that the common thread was tyranny—systems that turn people into obedient pawns—while slogans like Arab socialism or an Islamic state were merely appealing “wrapping paper.” Yuriy says he often thinks of this conversation because it helps explain Ukraine's fight today: Ukrainians are shooting Russians drawn to “senseless, bloody tyranny,” since the only alternative is submission and the spread of that brutality westward; resisting tyranny is the thin line protecting ordinary democratic life. About 10 years ago in Iraq, I met a Kurdish sheikh- the head of a large, warlike clan scattered across the northern mountains. The sheikh, who was already in his 70s at the time, looked like a character from an adventure novel or a supporting figure in Lawrence of Arabia: a neatly trimmed white beard, a small turban, loose Middle Eastern robes fluttering in the wind. Even his weapon resembled Lawrence's- a British rifle dating back to the First World War. The sheikh had spent his entire life at war. He had grown up in war. His children had grown up in war. He had outlived two of his sons, both killed by his enemies. His grandchildren were growing up in the war as well. He seemed to make no distinction between his past and present enemies: ISIS, Al Qaeda, Saddam Hussein's army, or the leaders of rival Kurdish clans. To him, they were all the same. "I shoot people because I can't shoot an ideology," he told me. Their ideology is hostile to us, and so everyone who embraces it is our enemy. His explanation surprised me. After all, Saddam Hussein's secular quasi-fascist Ba'ath Party and ISIS stood for entirely different things, and the ideology of rival Kurdish clans had nothing in common with either Saddam's regime or jihadists. So I pressed him, asking what exactly he meant when he spoke about this single ideology shared by all his enemies. The sheikh's men, with whom we were sitting around an enormous table in his house, a table holding nothing but coffee and bottled water, looked at me as though I were a fool, someone who failed to grasp the obvious. The sheikh, however, seemed perfectly happy to explain himself to a foreigner. "Look," the sheikh said, "they all have one ideology, tyranny. They want people to do whatever they're told, to be nothing but dumb pawns. Building Arab socialism like Saddam did or an Islamic state like ISIS, that's just wrapping paper meant to appeal to people. People fall easily for deceptive things behind which tyranny hides. That's why I fought my whole life. Tyranny will always find a way to be appealing." I don't know why, but I find myself recalling this conversation quite often. It seems to me that it explains a lot about us in Ukraine too, and about you as well- those living in a still peaceful West. What I mean is that, like the Kurdish sheikh who shot people because he could not shoot an ideology, we are now shooting Russians to whom their senseless, bloody tyranny seems very appealing. We may like it or not, but the only alternative is to submit to that brutal tyranny, to merge into it, to become part of it. And to move farther west along with it. And so our hatred of tyranny, our refusal to submit to it, that is the main thing defending the democratic world, the thin red line running between the savage mass of murderers and rapists on one side and ordinary, peaceful life on the other.

FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text MessageA 78-year-old man sits in solitary confinement in Hong Kong with a 20-year sentence hanging over him. He could have left. He could have said the words that would have set him free. Jimmy Lai refused to lie, and that single act of conscience explains why authoritarian power reacts so fiercely to one person who won't be bought or frightened into agreement. We trace Lai's story from his rise as a self-made publisher and founder of Apple Daily to the convictions that made him a political prisoner, then widen the lens to a timeless pattern: rulers don't only want silence, they want affirmation. To make the point vivid, we bring in Robert Bolt's A Man for All Seasons and the example of Sir Thomas More, whose quiet “no” threatened a king more than any army ever could. From there, we get personal. Tyranny's business model depends on getting good people to say things they don't believe, and most of the time the pressure arrives in small, ordinary moments. A boss, a crowd, or an algorithm nudges you toward the easy line instead of the true one, and repetition slowly erases your ability to resist. You'll leave with one clear action step for the week, a sharper understanding of why free speech and freedom of the press matter, and a reason to take courage seriously before it costs more than you think. Key Points from the Episode:• the weight of “20 years” for a 78-year-old man and why it reads like a life sentence  • the Thomas More parallel from A Man for All Seasons and the danger of quiet refusal  • who Jimmy Lai is, why he founded Apple Daily, and why he stayed  • why regimes punish unbought people and make examples of them  • conscience as an antidote to tyranny and the everyday pressures to comply  • a simple action step for the next moment you feel pushed to say the comfortable lie  • a warning about treating communism as abstract and a call to sober attention at home  • prayer for Jimmy Lai and others imprisoned for refusing to bow  Want to go deeper?Watch the documentary on Jimmy Lai's story and the fall of Hong Kong: The Hong Konger — freejimmylai.comGo back and listen to where this story started — our 2022 episode: LM #21 — Two Iron Ladies: The Hong KongerAnd keep Jimmy Lai in your prayers tonight, along with every man and woman sitting in a cell right now simply for refusing to lie.Want to leave a review? In most parts of the United States and elsewhere, sidewalks exist in a legal grey area. They are public spaces that, at least when it comes to things such as maintenance and snow removal, are largely the responsibility of private property owners. They are subject to all manner of laws that govern what kinds of activities can take place on them, laws that change not just from city to city, but sometimes from neighborhood to neighborhood, block to block, and address to address. They are also an important part of the transportation network and a key component in the effort to keep pedestrians safe, although certainly not a panacea, even in rural areas. Michael Pollack, the author of an excellent new book, Sidewalk Nation: The Life and Law of America's Most Overlooked Resource, thinks that sidewalks need a whole lot more consideration in legal and governing circles, and even goes so far as to advocate for the creation of a Department of Sidewalks that can cut through the rather opaque rules that govern these narrow strips of concrete. (Or other materials, given that many sidwalks are often governmed by historic preservation laws.) ***For an extended, ad-free version of this episode featuring a bonus conversation about sidewalk delivery robots, become a Patreon supporter of The War on Cars.*** SHOW NOTES: Buy Sidewalk Nation: The Life and Law of America's Most Overlooked Resourc and support independent booksellers at our official Bookshop.org page. As You Wish Talk Radio with James Gilliland End of Tyranny, Chemtrails, Life, Before Adam and Eve, Jesus the Real Message The Inner God Spark, Hidden Control, and the Call to Rise Above Division Returning From Illness Into a Warning About Control In this episode of As You Wish Talk Radio, host James Gilliland returns after what he describes as a bout with “chemtrail flu” and frames the show around illness, targeting, spiritual warfare, and hidden systems of control. He introduces a video from a presenter identified in the transcript as possibly Bridgette Forteague of Light on Liberty, saying the video lays a foundation for the rest of the episode. The video presents “The Secret Covenant,” a conspiracy-oriented text describing an alleged elite plan to poison, weaken, distract, divide, and control humanity through food, water, air, medicine, media, money, religion, fear, war, and debt. The Secret Covenant and the Architecture of Enslavement The video segment describes a hidden ruling group that allegedly uses science, technology, poisons, entertainment, government, media, economic systems, and social division to keep people weak and unaware. It claims that heavy metals, sedatives, aging accelerators, corrupted food and water, medical systems, consumer distraction, debt, and engineered conflict are used to keep humanity divided and dependent. The narrator concludes that awareness breaks the spell, arguing that once people recognize the system's methods, they can build lives outside of it and stop feeding the structures designed to control them. Chemtrails, Poisoned Systems, and Social Engineering James uses the video as a launching point for his own discussion of what he says are poisoned air, water, land, food supplies, vaccines, biological agents, weather warfare, and engineered sickness. He claims chemtrails contain heavy metals, graphene, nanoparticles, neurotoxins, biologicals, and other harmful substances, and he connects these claims to illness, dying trees, failing crops, dead fawns, fog events, hurricanes, tornadoes, and what he calls the “real war” overhead. He argues that people are participating in their own enslavement by continuing to support systems that, in his view, want humanity sick, impoverished, divided, or dead. Ancient History, Star Colonies, and the Suppressed Feminine The episode then moves into James's account of ancient and extraterrestrial history. He discusses alleged off-world colonies, underground civilizations, Sumerian tablets, primordial gods and goddesses, Anunnaki, Enki, Ninhursag, Mami, the Adam Kadmon seed, Yahweh, Asherah, Adam and Eve, Enoch, and ancient flood narratives. He emphasizes that earlier traditions included masculine and feminine divine pairs and argues that later patriarchal systems, governments, religions, and Rome suppressed the feminine and distorted the teachings of Jesus. He also references teachings attributed to Yeshua ben Joseph that locate the temple in the heart rather than in external religious structures. Personal Connection, Universal Law, and the Danger of False Teachers James repeatedly urges listeners to stop giving their power away to external authorities, gurus, teachers, religions, or spiritual personalities who do not lead people inward to their own direct connection with Creator, God, Great Spirit, or the Most High. He warns against people who claim special status, gather followers, exploit wounds, create dependency, or present themselves as uniquely chosen. For James, authentic spirituality empowers each person's own soul purpose, while false teaching feeds on ignorance, trauma, jealousy, competition, and the need for external approval. Division, Projection, Karma, and the Rising Frequencies A major theme of the episode is that division is the tool of oppressors. James names race, color, religion, gender, spiritual competition, gossip, jealousy, victimhood, and ideological conflict as ways people are kept fragmented. He says unity is the “kryptonite” of the controllers and that love, joy, bliss, universal peace, brother-sister love, individual freedom, and prosperity for all are the principles of universal law. He also says waves of solar, energetic, and consciousness-based change are accelerating karma, exposing false motives, and bringing unresolved wounds, traumas, wrong conclusions, and attachments to the surface for healing. Sky-Watch, UFO Activity, and the Closing Call to Go Within The later portion shifts into a cleaned sky-watch/video segment, with James and participants reacting to lights, ships, fleets, the space station, Starlink, planes, and what they describe as UFO activity over the ranch. They comment on objects powering up, crossing, flashing, moving in groups, and interacting near aircraft or the space station. The episode closes by returning to James's core message: keep an open mind, a loving heart, and pure intent; stop participating in division and external worship programs; get grounded in nature; listen to inner guidance through the heart; and focus on love, joy, and bliss while being kind to each other and the planet.

What did James Madison fear most about democracy? Madison believed tyranny could come not only from kings and dictators, but from the majority itself when power goes unchecked. In this episode, I reveal Madison’s plan to stop tyranny, protect individual rights, and design a Constitution strong enough to control government—and force government to control itself. "Those who can't do are good hype men for others." This simple principle serves as the heartbeat for a life dedicated to authentic human depth. In a world optimized for digital efficiency and "frictionless" convenience, the true currency of a meaningful life remains the unscalable power of independent thought, presence, and intentional effort. In this episode of Gratitude Through Hard Times, Chris Schembra explores the growing cultural movement of human connection, proactive resilience, and the universal language that unites us. Samantha Wolfson shares insights from her personal journey, including navigating a life-changing career evolution since moving to Amsterdam in 2017, executing intense top-tier tech launches at Wieden+Kennedy, and the long road to paying forward the lessons of grit and character learned from her father, Steven. Together, the conversation dives into how we show up for others, the power of surrounding ourselves with people who challenge us, and how leaning into creative outlets outside the boardroom can fundamentally alter our perspectives. 10 Memorable Quotes: "He is the reason I have become a pit bull in some areas and can be very soft in others because I see that is how he can both engage and react to the people around him." "Never did I think that could actually become such a quintessential part of my career." "I want every woman that's coming to not know each other. Just bring a bottle of wine and I will cook the food." "You don't have to trade a life that looks good on paper for a good life around the dinner table. It's an and, not or." "The moment you stop is when you'll fall into the trap of thinking you can do it all by yourself." "Growth starts at those points of like, 'Ooh, I don't know how I feel about that.'" "Who's at the table is as important as who's not at the table." "There's no value in what's been said. There's only value in what's being unsaid." "Community is the hardest thing to build because there is, for the most part, not crazy financial gain behind it." "Hard work breeds luck, and I definitely live by that." 10 Key Takeaways: The Test of Truth Tellers: Why surrounding yourself with an executive team and community that pressure-tests your ideas is infinitely better than building an inner circle of enablers. Six is the Gate: Understanding the tactical benefit of keeping meetings and gatherings to exactly six women so that everyone has an active voice, safety, and a real seat at the table. The Transition from Analog to Digital: How navigating high-intensity tech rollouts like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses exposed the deep human exhaustion behind the corporate digital push. Dismantling Structural Silos: Breaking away from transactional networking by designing spaces where professionals connect over shared human truths rather than industry metrics. The "Three-Letter Word" Framework: Cultivating deep conversation by refusing to counter someone's story with your own anecdote, choosing instead to simply ask "why?" to uncover what is unsaid. Grit at the Dinner Table: Reclaiming the narrative of hard work by looking to foundational role models, including Steven Wolfson's lessons on listening, character formation, and absolute abundance. The Tyranny of the OR vs. The Genius of the AND: Learning that world-class leadership requires balancing binary traits, integrating logical business goals with emotional human connections. Failing Fast with Guidance: Why moving forward through a community's hard times and "imperfect dinners" under strong internal resolve is the only real vehicle for long-term relational success. The Core Value of Peer Review: Recognizing that even in an automated, AI-driven environment, verified human connection and peer-reviewed credibility remain irreplaceable. Mudita and Pro-Social Gratitude: Shifting away from keeping score to actively finding joy in the achievements of others, which ultimately drives collective organizational momentum. About our Guest: Samantha (Sam) Wolfson is the founder of & the Table, a global dinner platform that brings ambitious women together around a shared meal. The platform operates on a distinct format: six women who have never met, three courses, one host-chosen theme, and a strict rule that everyone shows up completely alone. What began in 2022 as just five open spots at her Amsterdam apartment quickly went viral, drawing more than 500 applications in its very first open round. Today, & the Table has built a robust global presence, empowering more than 75 hosts in over 10 countries, spanning from Nigeria to Spain to Hungary. A Philadelphia native, Sam studied Media, Culture, and Communications at New York University before launching into the music industry, where she spent years on the road producing branded sponsorships for major music festivals across Mexico, Australia, and beyond as an account manager at LiveStyle, Inc. After falling for Amsterdam during a work trip, she relocated there permanently in 2017 and transitioned into advertising. She served as an Account Director at world-class agencies Wieden + Kennedy and TBWANEBOKO, leading global campaigns for heavyweights like Airbnb, Samsung, Ray-Ban, and Adidas. Before scaling & the Table into a full platform, she honed the concept as "Sam's Dinners"—her personal hosting practice designed to meet other women and build deep connections in a new city. Outside of her dinner platform, Sam is also the co-founder of the card game WHAT ARE THE ODDS, and frequently shares her insights as a speaker at events like the Self-Made Summit in the Netherlands. She currently lives in west Amsterdam with her partner and her dog.

Justice and the Allegory of the Philosophic King. Guest Author: Professor James Romm. Plato spent his final decades in Athens, completing The Republic. He categorized governance, placing tyranny at the bottom as a system driven by base appetites. He argued that a true king must be a philosopher to perceive the absolute "form of justice." Using the Allegory of the Cave, he described the philosopher's duty to lead those still in the shadows. The work concludes with the Myth of Er, a vision of reincarnation and the soul's journey. Souls drink from the River of Heedlessness, with the wise retaining subconscious memories of the perfect universe. 7
