On this episode of The Hillsdale College Online Courses Podcast, Jeremiah and Juan discuss how The Federalist influenced the Constitutional Convention before introducing Ronald J. Pestritto. The United States Constitution was designed to secure the natural rights proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence. Signed by Constitutional Convention delegates on September 17, 1787—Constitution Day—it was ratified by the American people and remains the most enduring and successful constitution in history. In this twelve-lecture course, students will examine the political theory of the American Founding and subsequent challenges to that theory throughout American history. Topics covered in this course include: the natural rights theory of the Founding, the meaning of the Declaration and the Constitution, the crisis of the Civil War, the Progressive rejection of the Founding, and the nature and form of modern liberalism. The Articles of Confederation was America’s first attempt at establishing a national union. However, in many of the states, unchecked legislative majorities frequently trampled on the natural rights of minorities and disregarded the nearly powerless federal government. This experience of unstable and unjust government led to calls for a firmer union.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There's Mayor Anne Hidalgo in Paris and former Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, just to name two. Why is that so? That's the question explored by our guests, urban mobility experts Melissa and Chris Bruntlett, in their new book: Women Changing Cities: Global Stories of Urban Transformation. The Bruntletts discuss the qualities that have allowed these leaders—along with women planners, advocates, and policymakers—to reshape their cities to benefit people, not cars. When women lead, cities thrive. This bonus episode was recorded live at the Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, Florida. The escalating unrest in Iran is a stark reminder of what happens when a government no longer serves its people—and the people have no meaningful way to resist it. As protests intensify and the state responds with force, the imbalance of power becomes painfully clear: an armed government versus a disarmed population. In this episode of ZERT Coffee & Chaos, we examine why the Second Amendment is not an abstract political talking point, but a historical safeguard against tyranny. We discuss how authoritarian governments consolidate power, suppress dissent, and maintain control when citizens lack the means to defend themselves—physically, politically, or culturally. We then shift the conversation to what many Americans are watching unfold at home: large numbers of people choosing not to go to work, not to contribute to society, but instead to actively interfere with federal law enforcement operations. We break down how quickly the rule of law erodes when mob action is normalized, when enforcement is politicized, and when accountability disappears under the guise of activism. The discussion focuses on how disorder fills the vacuum when authority is challenged without consequences—and how everyday citizens are left exposed in the process. This episode is not about fear or hypotheticals. It is about recognizing patterns. History shows that freedom rarely collapses all at once—it degrades through chaos, selective enforcement, and the steady weakening of lawful authority. The Second Amendment exists because governments are composed of people, and people can become tyrannical when power goes unchecked. Preparedness is more than gear and supplies. It is understanding how quickly stability can unravel, recognizing warning signs early, and refusing to surrender responsibility for your safety and your liberty.

We talked with Dr. Bruce Appleyard, who has spent a lifetime thinking about what we mean when we talk about liveable streets—and why it is so important that we build our cities with human beings in mind, first and foremost. Bruce's research makes an appearance in Life After Cars, and his father, Donald Appleyard, was a legend in this field for his work that led to the indispensable book Livable Streets, published in 1981. In 2020 Bruce published Livable Streets 2.0, which brings his father's book up to date while preserving its core principles and teachings. We talked with him about how streets can foster (or erode) social ties in our communities, how car-centric infrastructure harms children's ability to navigate, and how we can fulfill what his father called "the promise of our streets." The great and powerful democratically elected Article II Executive Branch President Donald J. Trump has long butted heads with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome “Too Late” Powell, particularly criticizing Powell for abusing the Feds monetary authority to keep interest rates artificially high, and thus choking off American economic growth. Now the Trump administration has sent the Federal Reserve grand jury subpoenas regarding Powell's recent testimony to Congress regarding the multi-billion re-build of Federal Reserve buildings, suggesting that Powell may have committed perjury and be subject to criminal prosecution. In response, Powell released a video this past weekend claiming that these subpoenas were merely an illegitimate effort by Trump to pressure Powell into reducing interest rates. What's the real deal with all this? I would suggest that the real problem with the Federal Reserve isn't that Powell is stupidly keeping rates high or that the Feds building project is hundreds of millions of dollars over budget. Rather, the real problem with the Federal Reserve IS THE FEDERAL RESERVE!

Let's accept fully this Age of Hermes fully, as Stephen Crimi joins us to discuss his book, Hermes Runs the Game: Inverted Myth, Sacrifice and Initiation In-Forming the Events of 2020-2024. We'll explore the profound connection between ancient Greek mystery traditions and the underlying structure of reality, where the “imaginal realm” of myths and spirits continuously interacts with human consciousness. Recent global events are analyzed as occult inversions of sacred rituals, where traditional practices like religious processions and ablutions were subverted to manipulate the public and fragment the cultural fabric. By identifying the trickster influence of Hermes and practicing discriminative discernment, individuals can move beyond rational logic to achieve the spiritual Gnosis required to see through modern narratives. I break down Tyler Durden as a psychological and masculine archetype, not as a role model, but as a warning signal. I explore why Fight Club still resonates with men today, what Tyler gets right about masculinity, and where his version of power goes off the rails. This is a conversation about repression, shadow integration, discipline, and why unintegrated strength turns destructive. The goal is not to become Tyler Durden, but to understand what he represents and integrate it responsibly.SHOW HIGHLIGHTS00:00 - Why Tyler Durden Still Possesses the Male Psyche01:45 - Tyler Durden as a Symptom of Emasculation03:34 - The Hollow Man and Consumer Masculinity05:25 - Tyler Durden as the Shadow Masculine07:14 - The Absence of Masculine Initiation08:05 - Pseudo-Initiation and Self-Destruction09:00 - Pain, Brotherhood, and Fight Club10:53 - Violence vs Contact With Reality12:44 - Comfort, Weakness, and Modern Men13:30 - What Tyler Durden Gets Right15:46 - Power Without Consciousness17:54 - Tyranny, Cult Dynamics, and Shadow Possession20:20 - Project Mayhem and Destructive Identity22:20 - Rage Masculinity in the Modern World23:31 - Integration Over Destruction24:43 - Disciplined Power and True Masculine Initiation25:57 - Tyler Durden as the Alarm, Not the Answer***Tired of feeling like you're never enough? President Donald Trump has redefined the authority of the American presidency. In a recent interview with the New York Times, he said he is constrained only by his “own morality.” Trump has often exercised power in ways that have raised alarms including weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after political opponents, capturing the leader of Venezuela without Congressional approval, sending the National Guard into cities to squash protests and imposing tariffs. As we approach the one year anniversary of Trump's inauguration, we'll talk about the expansion of presidential power and what it means for democracy. Guests: Steven Levitsky, professor of government, Harvard, co-author of "Why Democracies Die" and "Tyranny of the Minority: Why American Democracy Reached the Breaking Point." Vikram Amar, professor of law, UC Davis School of Law Lara Brown, political scientist and author, Her lastest book is, "Amateur Hour: Presidential Character and the Question of Leadership." In this episode of Wisdom's Table, I am thrilled to kick off a two-part series around becoming a peaceful CEO. As business owners, entrepreneurs, and leaders, we often grapple with the relentless pressure to move faster, respond quicker, and carry more responsibilities. I want to remind you that if you feel this pressure, it doesn't mean you're failing; it means you're carrying a weight that comes with leadership. Our goal isn't to eliminate pressure but to learn how to carry it well. Today, we delve into one of the most significant challenges we face: the tyranny of the urgent. Coined by Charles Hummel in 1967, this concept refers to immediate pressing demands that overshadow our truly important long-term goals. As business owners, we often find ourselves pulled in multiple directions, reacting to urgent matters that may not align with our core objectives. This episode is about learning to lead from a place of peace without losing momentum. Ready to build your prayer life? We're continuing from 11 Nov 2025, discussing the first subsection in his next chapter, chapter 5 (The Relation of Ideological Tyranny to the Authoritarian State), called "Revelation 13 as a Model of Ideological Tyranny" based on the insights from a master observer of both types of totalitarian socialisms on the Left, national socialism -- sometimes called fascism -- and the kind of socialism that the Communists in East Germany and Russia had during the 1900s, during the life of Dr. Thielicke. (USSR meant Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). We go from pp. 53 thru the top of 62. (See 11 Nov 2025, "Ideologies as Idolatry" for the last episode in this series). Our return guest today on The Republican Professor Podcast is the former professor of Theology at the University of Hamburg in West Germany, Dr. Helmut Thielicke, Ph.D., D.Theol. (Philosophy and Theology). Professor Thielicke once again joins us through his teaching in his Theological Ethics, Vol. 2: Politics. My copy was purchased at Old Capitol Books (new location) in Monterey, California, across from Nick the Greek restaurant on Alvarado Street (their old location was 559 Tyler, Monterey, CA, across from the Peet's Coffee and was formerly Book Haven for many years), and is a hard copy published in 1969 by Fortress Press and edited by William H. Lazareth. Thielicke died before he was able to come on to The Republican Professor Podcast. We thank Fortress Press for making the book available. Check out their catalogue for a full listing of their very interesting titles, and buy one. Get a copy of this for yourself and following along in our transformative, performative reading of it as we make fair use on his insights, with fresh scholarly commentary from me, and allow it to shape our understanding of American Politics. This is part 10 in a series on The Republican Professor Podcast, an introduction to theological reflection on American government. Here, we continue the topic of the nature and power of "ideology" in Communist Socialist and National Socialist (sometimes called by others fascistic socialism/fascism). Our very special guest today is, once again, the esteemed and long-time Professor of Theology at the University of Hamburg, Helmut Thielicke. And I've invited Professor Thielicke to join us today through my transformative, performative reading (with my scholarly commentary upon) and fair use of his teaching on this topic in his magisterial "Theological Ethics, Volume 2: Politics." My copy of the book was published in 1969 by Fortress Press. Please buy a copy of the book and follow along with our study of this material. Please, please support your brick and mortar used book dealers as well. Professor Thielicke died before we were able to invite him in person as a guest on the podcast. Thanks to Fortress Press, the book is still in print and would be a valuable addition, indeed, to your personal library. Please support the work of Fortress Press and buy the book, and check out the other selections that they carry, as well. The United States is no longer governed by law — it's governed by anarcho-tyranny. In this explosive interview, political theorist and The Total State author Auron MacIntyre breaks down how modern liberal democracies devolve into tyranny by punishing law-abiding citizens while empowering criminals, illegals, and regime client classes. This is not left vs right. This is state vs people.

FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text MessageA nighttime city goes dark, rotors whisper over rooftops, and a regime built on crime loses its center of gravity. That image anchors a frank, fast-moving breakdown of Operation Absolute Resolve—the surgical extraction that removed Nicolás Maduro without a single U.S. casualty or aircraft loss. We open with first principles from Liberty and Tyranny, asking what prudence requires when unalienable rights collide with the limits of American responsibility, then test those principles against a real-world mission that felt more like law enforcement than nation building.I walk through the skeptical reflex shaped by Iraq and Afghanistan and explain why the facts on the ground shifted my view. Maduro's Venezuela wasn't acting like a sovereign state; it was operating as a transnational cartel hub funneling cocaine and fentanyl into American streets while inviting Russia, China, and Iran into our hemisphere. That changes the moral math. We draw the line from Noriega's Panama to Caracas, show how sovereignty erodes when a ruler weaponizes the state for organized crime, and clarify why a narrow objective—remove the cartel boss in a presidential sash—served both justice and deterrence. From there, we unpack the mission profile: more than 150 aircraft, coordinated cyber effects, lights out over Caracas, target hit at 2:01 a.m., and a clean exfil. No occupation. No open-ended promises. Just a defined aim met with precision and restraint. The takeaway is not triumphalism but discipline: peace through strength means clarity of purpose, proportional means, and a hard stop once the job is done. We close with practical guardrails to prevent mission creep and a look ahead to part two on Venezuela's next chapter and regional stability. Chaos doesn't mean collapse — it means exposure. In this episode of The Right Side with Doug Billings, we break down why chaos is often used as a governing tool, why impatience can destroy real reform, and why calm, informed citizens remain the backbone of a free Republic. We discuss:chaos as a signal of failing legitimacywhy escalation doesn't mean victoryMinnesota as a national warning signhow tyranny arrives quietly and legallywhy civic resolve matters more than outrageThis episode is about clarity, history, and the long game.Support the show
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, ruling en banc, has finally TRIGGERED a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS by egregiously violating the separation of powers and subordinating the internal deliberations of the Article II Executive Branch to the whimsical and tyrannical overview of a single unelected, black-robed, tyrannical, inferior federal district court judge out of San Francisco—the 77-year-old Federal trial judge Susan Illson, a Clinton appointee. The majority opinion of the en banc ruling was written by, of course, of two more Clinton appointees—80-year-old William Fletcher, and 73-year-old Johnnie Rawlinson, who despite the name is a black woman of substantial BMI.A dissent, joined by several additional appellate judges, was written by Judge Patrick Bumatay, a 47-year-old Trump appointee from his first term. This dissent properly lays out the Constitutional crisis and corrosion that the majority en banc opinion has now triggered.
The Bulletproof Dental Podcast Episode 422 HOSTS: Dr. Peter Boulden and Dr. Craig Spodak DESCRIPTION In this episode of the Bulletproof Dental Practice Podcast, Craig Spodak and Peter Boulden discuss the significance of the New Year as a time for reflection and goal setting. They emphasize the importance of strategic planning in dentistry, highlighting how the urgent often overshadows the important tasks that lead to growth. The conversation explores the allure of production over strategic thinking, the cost of never stepping back from clinical work, and the necessity of creating a sustainable practice. They also touch on the value of team consensus and the impact of the Bulletproof Summit as a transformative experience for dental professionals. TAKEAWAYS New Year's is a time for reflection and goal setting. Writing down goals provides a snapshot of past aspirations. The urgent often crowds out the important in dentistry. Dentists often prioritize being busy over being productive. Strategic time must be protected, not just found. The cost of never stepping back can be detrimental. Creating a sustainable practice requires strategic planning. Team consensus can drive motivation and ownership. The Bulletproof Summit offers transformative experiences for dental teams. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, Michael Reagan, the eldest adopted son of President Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman, passed away at age 80 in Los Angeles. He was a man of deep faith who overcame early issues to become an engaging and supportive figure, strongly defending his father, Ronald Reagan, and backing President Trump. He wasn't just the son of a president; he was a strong voice for conservative principles and a defender of the values that made this country great. Also, the military's operation that swiftly removed Nicholas Maduro from Caracas, without injuring any American soldiers, was spectacular. Democrats previously called for Maduro's removal but now criticize the action, raising questions of impeachment of President Trump and war crimes. There's a lack of national unity. In the past both parties would celebrate such an event and praise the president and military, but now Democrats oppose it while their militia protests in U.S. cities. The country is in deep trouble regardless of the president, as constitutional protections for free speech and association are exploited by these groups, now joined by a recurring Hitlerian wing of neo-fascists who celebrate Hitler and Stalin, obsessively trash Jews, evangelical Christians supporting Israel, and the U.S. itself, while promoting Islamism and Sharia law. Later, property rights are fundamental human rights, earned through intellectual and physical labor, reflecting one's limited time on earth to accumulate wealth for family. Slogans like Zohran Mamdani's "warmth of the community" mask an iron fist of centralized government that erodes individual rights and liberties, rejecting Enlightenment and Judeo-Christian values in favor of Islamism and Marxism, which are incompatible with America's founding. The collective dehumanizes individuals and diminishes their creations. Afterward, these ideologies, whether Islamist or Marxist are incompatible with Americanism, posing a survival threat rather than an affordability issue. Marxism has failed everywhere, yet it's not taught in schools, media, or by podcasters. Our generation—parents and grandparents—must reclaim the public square to shield children from brainwashing by these diabolical saboteurs, including the Democrat Party, historically hostile to American beliefs. Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin has been sounding the alarm about creeping authoritarianism, warning of military forces on U.S. streets and extrajudicial killings on the high seas. Now, following a military raid that captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, those warnings feel newly urgent. Slotkin joins us to discuss what the Maduro operation reveals about presidential power, and what Congressional oversight mechanisms are available. Furthermore, President Trump says the U.S. will now control Venezuela's massive oil reserves — over 300 billion barrels of crude oil. Later in the hour, we talk about why the U.S. might keep Venezuela's existing government in place, the real challenges of extracting Venezuela's oil resources and how Trump's use of the Monroe Doctrine is reshaping global politics. Guests: Elissa Slotkin, U.S. Senator representing Michigan; member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services Antonia Juhasz, investigative journalist covering energy and the environment for Rolling Stone and other outlets. She is the author of several books on the industry, including "The Tyranny of Oil." Kevin Whitaker, former U.S. ambassador to Colombia and deputy chief of mission in Venezuela. Signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, otherwise known as the National Interstate and Defense Highways Act, ushered in an unprecedented era of roadbuilding in the United States, becoming the largest public works project in the country's history. Designed to spread freedom and prosperity — and, as the name implies, provide for the national defense — these highways tore through urban neighborhoods, destroying once-thriving communities and displacing countless citizens, many of them people of color. In this special report, we examine just what inspired this massive project and the effects it had on two communities, one in New Orleans and one in Syracuse. In Episode 14 of The No Treason Podcast, Jonathan Drake continues his deep examination of trial by jury through the lens of Lysander Spooner's writings, moving into the historical foundations of Magna Carta. Building on prior episodes, Jonathan explains why the Constitution and state constitutions acknowledge trial by jury without defining it, emphasizing that the right predates government itself and cannot be legitimately redefined. The episode traces the political and legal conditions surrounding King John, the Norman system of centralized power, and the barons' revolt that led to Magna Carta, focusing especially on Clause 39 and its role in limiting tyranny. Jonathan walks through Spooner's argument that trial by jury was intended to give jurors authority to judge not only facts, but the justice of the law itself, placing real power in the hands of the people. The discussion contrasts Anglo-Saxon legal traditions with Norman rule, addresses later historical revisionism, and sets the stage for a closer analysis of Magna Carta's language in the next episode.

In this episode, Brian Miller and Brian Tracy kick off January's theme—Escaping the Tyranny of the Urgent—by looking back at Brian's 2025 goal list (10 goals… 3 achieved… baseball Hall of Fame, real life: "ouch"). They explore what a "failed" goal year can teach you: you can't predict what's coming, God opens doors you didn't even know existed, and the real win isn't perfect outcomes—it's faithful work and healthy relationships. Key Highlights Brian admits he set 10 public goals for 2025 and hit 3, then uses that "miss" as a learning lab rather than a guilt trip. You can't predict the future: partnerships changed, a collarbone broke, and leadership responsibilities shifted—none of which were on the goal spreadsheet. Hold goals loosely: both Brians describe learning to release control and stay alert to God's unexpected openings. Focus on the work, not the scoreboard: habits and daily faithfulness matter more than lofty targets (with a nod to Atomic Habits and the "become the person" principle). Relationships are the real goal: productivity can quietly sabotage what matters most—community, family, prayer partners, and life-giving friendships. Takeaways Set fewer goals—and build "adaptability" into them. A smaller number of priorities leaves room for real life (and real leadership curveballs). Measure faithfulness by the work you do daily, not just the outcomes you can't control. Ask: "Does this goal strengthen relationships?" If it doesn't, it might be a shiny distraction wearing a halo. Stop trying to kick down locked doors. Pay attention to the doors God opens—and when they open, walk through them boldly. Schedule rest and life-giving time on purpose. If you never plan time off, the urgent will happily eat your entire year.
When you're just starting out in your career, the feedback loop is crystal clear. There's a cause and effect to your actions that lead to instantaneous rewards or consequences. But the more success you achieve, the more muddled this signal becomes. And the more distorted your signal, the more stressed and burnt out you become… while your confidence and self-esteem slowly evaporate. Here's the worst part: A muddled signal is a sign from your internal environment that it needs a software update. But it's sneaky - fear disguises itself as prudence and internal consequences are delayed from your external world. And so, you push harder, exert more effort, and fall deeper into this vicious cycle. But there's a better way… In today's show, you'll discover why your signal becomes so muddled, how success exacerbates the distortion, and why cleaning your signal and gaining clarity requires a completely different approach to what you're doing now. Listen now. Show Highlights Include: The insidious "Degraded Clarity" trap that sneaks up on you and slowly spoils your success (and why most people don't even notice it) (1:23) Have you silently watched your sense of ease vanish and get replaced with frustration? Here's the psychology behind why this happens, why it's more common than you think, and what you can do about it (2:47) The "Tyranny of Metrics" mishap that happens between the external and internal world - and why this explains why your results can lead to peace and serenity (3:38) The dark side of success nobody talks about (and only a select few actually understand) that undermines your judgment (4:44) What romanticizing the "Garage Phase" of your career means on a psychological and emotional level. (Ignoring this "shot across the bow" can teach your mind the exact opposite lesson.) (7:13) How adapting to your environment dulls your career trajectory (even though the ability to adapt is a good and natural skill) (8:57) Why internal constraints - not skill, effort, stress, or ambition - are the culprit behind hitting the invisible "upper limit" of growth (11:02) How fear LARPs as prudence, experience, and even wisdom (15:52) For more about David Tian, go here: https://www.davidtianphd.com/about/ Feeling like success in one area of life has come at the expense of another? On Monday's Mark Levin Show, Venezuela's regime, allied with communist China, Iran, and others, is deliberately poisoning the U.S. through drugs, contributing to hundreds of thousands of American deaths, making inaction absurd. The war crime claims from Democrats, from a denied report on killing drug boat survivors, are ridiculous. This Venezuela situation is similar to the 1989 U.S. invasion of Panama via Operation Just Cause—a surprise attack without war declaration or prior congressional input due to leak fears—to oust drug lord Manuel Noriega, who partnered with Colombians to flood the U.S. with drugs, while restoring democracy and safeguarding Americans. Also, going forward, every Republican who wants our votes need to declare if they stand with or against Tucker Carlson. This isn't about Carlson, it's a litmus test for fundamental morality, ethics, principles, understanding of American history, and opposition to bigotry, racism, anti-Semitism, attacks on Christianity, excuses for the Third Reich, and revisionist narratives portraying America or Churchill as villains. There's an overlap between Marxist Islamists, and neo-fascists in condemning Judaism, Christianity, and the West, while failing to defend capitalism, free markets, the nation's founders, or its principles. Later, the book "Liberty and Tyranny," critiques the statist argument for comprehensive immigration reform, which grants illegal immigrants' rights to enter illegally and remain, access welfare benefits like education, healthcare, housing, and food stamps, vote, and be counted in the census, all under the guise that America is a nation of immigrants. Today, almost 20 years later, this remains unchanged. No, immigrants do not have a right to come to America. Finally, parents need to encourage their children to compete, take jobs, work hard, and create opportunities rather than blaming a corrupt system. Success has never come easy for previous generations, including the greatest generation that endured wars and depression. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
