Fear of judgment can stop a great idea before the market ever gets a chance to respond. And that can be far more expensive than criticism. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why aspiring entrepreneurs need to stop letting friends, coworkers, and spectators influence decisions they have never earned the right to make. Not every opinion deserves equal weight. The people watching from the sidelines are not taking the risk. They are not building the product. And they are not your customer. In this episode, you'll learn:• Why fear of criticism keeps entrepreneurs from launching• How other people's insecurity can show up as judgment or negativity• Why customer behavior and market response matter more than social approval• How detaching your self-worth from outside opinions creates stronger executionThe truth is simple:You cannot build something meaningful while constantly asking the crowd for permission.Launch the idea.Study the response.Follow the data.Improve based on what the market actually tells you.The goal is not to impress everyone watching. The goal is to create something valuable enough that the right people are willing to pay for it.Ignore the noise.Execute the vision.Let the results speak.Your Network is your NETWORTH!Make sure to add me on all SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS:Instagram: https://jo.my/paulalex2024Facebook: https://jo.my/fbpaulalex2024YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGhDAD1JyGGzSQUPD9lc9HQLinkedIn: https://jo.my/inpaulalex2024Looking for a secondary source of income or want to become an entrepreneur? That's the question we asked attendees at this year's Velo-city Conference, organized by the European Cyclists' Federation and held in the Italian city of Rimini. Lots of mayors and elected officials and even advocates talk a lot of what cities should do for cycling, but making it easier for people to cycle in a city unlocks a host of benefits, even for people who will never get on a bike. Hear what people from places around the world—including Mozambique, India, Switzerland, France, and the U.S.—think about the power of the humble bicycle to transform streets, society, and our planet. **Homelessness and Tyranny in California**You might think you're familiar with the state of California, but the latest news from El Sereno will leave you speechless. A homeless encampment in this Los Angeles neighborhood has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The situation is so dire that it's hard to believe it's real. A mother and her son, who are currently off-again, on-again, are living on the streets, and the city is struggling to provide them with help. But that's not the worst of it – the encampment is also a hotbed of crime, with residents openly using meth and engaging in other illicit activities. This episode of the podcast delves into the complexities of homelessness in California, where the system seems to be failing those who need it most. A guest expert shares their insights on the issue, pointing out the flaws in the current approach and the need for a more comprehensive solution. The conversation also touches on the recent controversy surrounding the California Energy Commission's decision to limit the sale of tires, and how this move might have far-reaching consequences for the state's residents. The discussion is a thought-provoking exploration of the challenges facing California, from the state's handling of homelessness to its seemingly arbitrary regulations. The guest expert offers a unique perspective on the issue, highlighting the need for a more nuanced approach that prioritizes the needs of all Californians. If you're interested in learning more about the issues facing California and the potential solutions, tune in to this episode to hear the expert's take on the matter.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sebastian Junger and I discuss his search for purpose as a young man; his 1997 best-seller, The Perfect Storm, that put him on the map; his high risk years as a war reporter; the aneurism that nearly killed him; becoming a father late in life; and what he calls the “escape from the tyranny of self-interest.” A riveting and thought-provoking introduction to a journalist you'll be seeing more of in his new role as a Contributor to 60 Minutes. Our conversation was recorded live at the 2023 Nantucket Book Festival (which just celebrated its 15th year!)
In the past months, the world has watched as the people of New York City elected Zohran Mamdani to office as mayor of the largest city in the United States, with over 8 million residents and international cultural and economic centers such as the financial sector and performing arts realm. Youthful, charismatic, and bold, he won the election by over 50% in a 3-way race. Mayor Mamdani started making changes from his first day in office. His political philosophy, however, is the same old package the world has seen fail in socialist countries around the world, including Cuba and Venezuela in our own hemisphere. In the name of fairness, Mamdani planned to pay for the universal daycare, the subsidized housing, the price-controlled groceries, the public transportation through various taxes and other fees, especially on the very rich, the celebrities and billionaires who call New York City home, or own property there. Despite being targeted as the cash cows that would pay for the party, the wealthy did not just pack up and leave on the day that Mayor Mamdani was sworn in. They appeared to be holding their breath, waiting to see if they could afford to stay. Then Taylor Swift posted two short social media items, neither one long and neither one declaring she was leaving New York City, but containing an air of wistfulness and a hint that leaving might be an option. Within 48 hours, there was a surge unlike any seen in living memory in new listings of high-end residences for sale. Values of the listings totaled $2.3 billion. Should even a portion of those owners who are listing depart from the city, the financial repercussions for New York City and for New York State will be enormous. Meanwhile, on the heels of the Mamdani victory, new political hopefuls who are declared far-left socialists, many under the banner of Democrat Socialists of America(DSA) are running in primaries around the US. The DSA party and the DSA National Election Commission are hip, excited, and trying hard to be fun. But all the charisma, the self-declared desire to be kind, to be fair, and all the taxes in the world will not create a more productive, liberty-oriented, vibrant environment able to nurture ingenuity, growth, and opportunity for all. The Democratic Socialists of America have totalitarian goals that they share with their sibling revolutionaries, Communists, Socialists, and the Woke Left Under all the hype and the slogans of the Democratic Socialists of America and other far-left groups is a desire to tear down the America we grew up in. They want another American revolution. Like basic Communist tenants the far left wants to abolish private property (or tax it to death), put religion in a closet or abolish it altogether, make everyone “equal” – not in opportunity, but in outcome, and embrace the policies promoted by globalist entities such as the United Nations and the World Health Organization which have lots of goals and targets aiming at fairness and equality on an international scale and at the expense especially of the United States. We have tried in the West to be so kind, so tolerant, so darn nice in the face of destructive policies and hate-filled rhetoric and actions that we have allowed the destruction of our own culture. So, we invited a genuine survivor of the totalitarian communist USSR who was born in Moscow and immigrated with his family as a young child to Canada. Our guest brought his memories of long food lines, the fear that sits like a stone in a family of dissidents, and his awareness that those who make trouble can be shipped off to Siberia. We met with Jamie Glazov for an episode of The Breggin Hour. It was one of those rare conversations that feels less like an interview and more like speaking with family. Jamie's presence, his clarity, and the depth of his lifelong study of totalitarianism left us both strengthened and sobered. The perspectives Jamie shares are fresh, straight from the news headlines. Jamie is the Russian-born Canadian author, historian, and managing editor of FrontPage Magazine. His updated and expanded book, United in Hate: The Left's Romance with Tyranny, Terror, and Hamas, is not merely a must-read. It is a work of truth-telling that explains phenomena many of us have watched with growing alarm but struggled to fully name. The Left's Romance with Murderous Regimes and Movements In United in Hate, Jamie traces a continuous thread through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries: the Western Left's repeated romance with the most murderous regimes and movements of their time. The first half of the book examines the “political pilgrims” and fellow travelers who traveled to Stalin's Soviet Union, Mao's China, Castro's Cuba, and the killing fields of Cambodia and Vietnam, returning to praise the very systems that produced mass graves. The second half shows how that same psychological and ideological pattern transferred, almost seamlessly, to embracing radical Islam and groups such as Hamas. After the collapse of Soviet communism, the Left did not abandon its hunger for a totalitarian alternative to the West. It found a new object of adoration. October 7, 2023, became the catalyst for the revised edition of United in Hate. Jamie told us that the moment he saw the celebrations and justifications erupting across Western campuses, streets, and media, he knew the book had to be updated and expanded. The ecstasy some on the Left displayed at the rape, mutilation, and murder of Jews was not an aberration. It was the logical continuation of a long romance with tyranny and terror. A Profound Alienation from the West Jamie does not stop at documentation. He examines the inner life of what he calls “the Believer.” The hard Left, he argues, is driven by a profound alienation from the West, a self-hatred that seeks external enemies to destroy, and a quasi-religious need for a purifying utopia that requires blood sacrifice. Communism once supplied that vision. When it failed, radical Islam offered a new version: a death cult that openly rejects the Judeo-Christian foundations of the civilization the Left already despises. In our conversation, he described two layers of the problem. There are the malicious actors who knowingly work to dismantle Western civilization. And there are the many more who simply cannot emotionally bear the truth. To acknowledge what radical Islam teaches and practices would shatter the comforting narrative that “everything will be okay if we just show more tolerance.” So, they choose willful blindness. They sacrifice Jewish and Christian victims on the altar of their own psychological comfort. Peter, who has spent decades studying the psychology of power and vulnerability, was particularly struck by how accurately Jamie captures the leftist mindset of alienation turning into passionate identification with those who attack the West. A Spiritual Battle Jamie spoke openly about the spiritual dimension of what we face. He reminded us that we are in a battle that cannot be reduced to politics alone. The hatred directed at Jews and at the Christian West has a demonic quality. The same forces that once celebrated Stalin and Mao now celebrate those who butchered families on October 7 and who openly seek the destruction of Israel, Christianity, and, ultimately, Western civilization. Peter and I felt an immediate kinship with Jamie. He is the son of Soviet dissidents. His heart has always been with the persecuted. That same impulse—the refusal to look away from suffering—has driven our own work for decades. When Jamie said he felt he was among family while speaking with us, we felt the same. Listen and Read I urge you to listen to the full interview. Jamie's passion, his refusal to soft-pedal, and his moral clarity come through powerfully. Then get the book. United in Hate will equip you to understand not only the present moment but the deeper currents that have brought us here. We are living in a time when large portions of our cultural and institutional elite have chosen sides against the civilization that produced them. Jamie Glazov has given us a map of that betrayal. The least we can do is study it carefully and refuse to look away. Order United in Hate: The Left's Romance with Tyranny, Terror, and Hamas by Jamie Glazov.

We'll be back soon with another regular episode.*** How can people who care about safe streets, transit, and other issues related to our movement take their advocacy to the next level to not just win hearts and minds, but influence elections and enact good policy? There are now a growing number of small political action committees and lobbying groups that have sprung up to explicitly influence and endorse candidates that they see as friendly to the cause. How did they get started? How have they wielded their influence to elect good people who will enact good policies? Does it take a lot of money to make a difference? If ordinary people want to start their own PAC or lobbying group, where do they begin? Doug talked with Eric McClure, the co-founder and executive director of StreetsPAC, which works to elect candidates in New York City and New York State; Kevin Bing, the co-founder of Streets PAC NJ, which focuses on New Jersey; Alex Nelson, a strategic advisor to Better Streets Chicago Action Fund; and Kyle Lucas, the co-founder and executive director of Better Streets Chicago. The California Energy Commission votes unanimously to regulate replacement tires! By 2033 the rules wipe out roughly 70% of the tires currently on the shelf. This is the same playbook that turned CA into the high-cost totalitarian socialist showcase: endless new mandates, less competition, everything more expensive than anywhere else.

In the first few years of the 2020s, the United States engaged in unprecedented breaches of American civil liberties under the pretense of protecting public health and safety. Yet compared to Australia, we got off light. Matt Kibbe is joined by author and filmmaker Topher Field, who personally documented the way the Australian government cracked down on speech, assembly, and the right to protest in the city of Melbourne, Victoria. And unfortunately, while we may think that the worst is behind us, there's reason to believe that COVID was simply a blueprint for greater power-grabs to come.

To transform our culture from its focus on dominance and hierarchy to one of connection, empathy and collaboration, it's vital that we re-envision the essential (or archetypal) masculine, which changes everything. This rarely tackled topic is the subject of a deeply authentic dialogue among Playwright and activist V, formerly Eve Ensler and and four men working to transform our collective story around men and masculinity: Tony Porter, co-founder of the national violence prevention organization A Call To Men, Indigenous activist Dallas Goldtooth, George Lipsitz, Black Studies scholar and professor emeritus at UC Santa Barbara; and Luke Charles Harris, co-founder of the African American Policy Forum. Mandy and Liz sit down with attorney Bill Maurer of the Institute for Justice to talk about what happens when public officials forget that their job is to abide by the constitution. Is there anything people can do to reclaim their rights (and the rights of everyone else)? And is the fight worth it? Yes and Yes. Still reeling from the uprecedented $176,500 sanction for contempt of court that Judge R. Keith Kelly imposed on investigative journalist Mandy Matney last month, Mandy and journalist Liz Farrell are on a hunt for perspective. New software cannot fix a broken process. It can only help you execute that broken process faster. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why entrepreneurs waste money on unnecessary technology and why strong systems have to come before automation. A new CRM will not fix unclear responsibilities. A project management platform will not repair a confusing workflow. And automation cannot replace a process that has never been proven. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why software amplifies the systems you already have• How tech bloat quietly drains your profit margins• Why processes should be proven manually before being automated• How simplifying your tech stack creates stronger focus and execution The truth is simple: Technology should support the system. It should not create the system for you. Map the workflow. Find the friction. Fix the process. Then choose the technology that helps your team execute it faster and more consistently. Is the populist right opposed to liberalism and the free market? Does this mark a change in what it is to be right-wing, or was it a mistake to see populism as far right in the first place? Or is there an unavoidable conflict on the right between maintaining the status quo and being conservative, and enabling change through the free market? At the outset of the use of the term, to be on the right was to back the aristocracy, authority and the status quo. In contrast, the liberals, known as Whigs in 18th century Britain, backed change, freedom and the rights of the individual. But in recent decades to be in favour of the free market and against the state itself came to be seen as right-wing. Now there's a further twist. The new populist right, often described as far right by its critics, has become critical of some aspects of the free market. Trump's tariffs are in support of current jobs and against the market. In this episode of the Teach Different podcast, hosts Steve and Dan Fouts explore a quote by Mark Twain, “whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” They discuss the psychology behind groupthink, the importance of critical thinking, and the potential dangers of majority opinion. The conversation also touches on practical applications of these ideas in educational settings, particularly in discussions about peer pressure and democracy. Throughout the episode, the hosts emphasize the value of reflection and the need to consider counterclaims in order to foster deeper understanding and critical thinking skills. Start your free trial at trainheroic.comThe Core Four — Four Cognitive Traps Killing Military Human PerformanceDrew and Alex gave a standing-room-only breakout at the H2F Symposium on this. Now they have time to actually unpack it. Four heuristics that show up everywhere in military human performance — and in every human-run organization. You can't escape them, but you can at least recognize them. What we get into:Goodhart's Law — when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure. The AFT was designed to signal readiness. The moment it became an incentivized metric, people started optimizing the score instead of the fitness. Same thing happened in Vietnam with body counts. The cure: use multiple metrics, reward more than test scores, and acknowledge what the assessment was actually supposed to tell you.McNamara Fallacy — only what can be quantified matters. The first step is measuring what's easy. The second is disregarding what can't be measured. The third is assuming the unmeasurable isn't important. The fourth is deciding it doesn't exist. Sound familiar? Social cohesion, trust, culture, the music playing in the gym — none of these show up on a dashboard. All of them matter enormously. Every minute a coach spends measuring is a minute they spend not coaching.Hammond's Corollary — what gets measured gets managed, but what most needs managing isn't always measurable. The soldier with a perfect AFT score who can't pick up a ruck without throwing out his back. Fitness versus capability. Athleticism versus fitness. You know it when you see it — and just because you can't put it on a graph doesn't mean it doesn't exist.Nazareth syndrome — no man is a prophet in his own home. The one place Jesus got the most skepticism was Nazareth, because they knew him as the carpenter. The embedded human performance team dealing with real constraints gets ignored. The outside consultant with slick branding and a two-day seminar gets the senior leader's full attention. You can't eliminate this one — but you can use it to your advantage.Mentioned in this episode:Drew's article — The Death of Periodization at mopsandmoes.comChris Frankel — assessment framework: camera, map, crystal ball, engineVF Ridgway, 1956 — the actual origin of "what gets measured gets managed"Justice Potter Stewart, 1964 — the porn quote. Romans 13 is a foundational passage for understanding civil government, but it has often been applied incorrectly to defend sinful tyranny. This sermon covers Romans 13 as well as several other harmonious passages in order to see clearly what God has commanded related to obedience and disobedience of civil authorities.

American leaders are staying in office past their prime. Boomers are reluctant to relinquish control — from political offices to corner offices — to the detriment of their juniors. In a society where the elderly hold so much power, should younger generations revolt? My guest today is Samuel Moyn, a professor at Yale Law School, and he argues that American democracy is distorted by the power of the old. We discuss how seniors have hoarded wealth and influence and how Americans can renew an intergenerational compact. 0:00 The Tyranny of the Elderly 2:01 From Joe Biden to Mitch McConnell 4:19 Europe's Anti-Gerontocracy 5:15 Politicians are the ‘Tip of the Iceberg' 7:07 The Dark Side of Longevity 9:40 How Age Impacts Policy 15:10 The Age Wealth Gap 20:21 How About Millennials? 23:28 Age Limits and Youth Power 38:14 Care Hoarding and Family Burdens 44:54 The Assisted Suicide Debate 50:14 Personal Stakes (A full transcript of this episode is available on the Times website.) Vice President JD Vance is widely perceived as the most likely candidate to be America's 48th President, followed closely by the excellent Marco Rubio. And certainly Vance presents many personal and professional qualities one would seek in a President of the United States, not least his patent love of nation. The elephant in the room, of course, is that JD Vance is married to a woman, Usha, who although born in America is in many ways culturally Indian, including in her religious dietary practices. This at a time in American history when we seem awash in tens of millions of Indian migrants who appear utterly resistant and disinterested in assimilating into our American culture, instead establishing their own ethnic enclaves, arguably engaging in predatory take-over of many American industries that were traditionally paths of upward mobility for American citizens, and to a large extent making America less America and more Indian—which would seem to be in neither the interests of America nor India. This has led some prominent voices on the American political right, perhaps more accurately termed the nationalist right, meaning prioritizing the interests of the American nation over other interests, to proclaim that if JD Vance is the candidate they will decline to cast a vote in the 2028 Presidential elections on the grounds that they are not interested in voting for an American president with an “Indian” spouse. That American culture is facing an existential threat at the hands of massive third-world invasion of our country seems incontestable, and the nation's cultural survival rather obviously depends on, well, it's cultural survival—keeping America American. Does this concern warrant playing absent from casting a vote in the 2028 Presidential election?I suggest not—and for much the same reasons I was opposed to this same take when it came to voting for Donald Trump for President in 2016.Join me LIVE at 9 AM ET as I break it all down!Clarence Thomas x 9: Perfect SCOTUS Mugs! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kFor complete Medicare guidance, dial (617) 644-0093 to speak with my trusted partner, Chapter. All @TheBrancaShow mugs & MORE! https://tinyurl.com/k778wj2kJOIN OUR COMMUNITY! Some of you may know Adam as one of the co-hosts of the Streets Ahead podcast. At Fusion Media, Adam created the #BikeIsBest campaign, which included a brilliant video that showed people using far more powerful tools than they needed to do ordinary household tasks. It cuts right to the absurdity of building a system where people default to using pickups, SUVs, and other large automobiles just to do simple tasks like getting milk at a nearby store. In this conversation, Adam explains that a concept called "pluralistic ignorance" can make it difficult to build the kinds of streets we all want, but there is hope. Artificial intelligence is transforming civilization—but could it also be laying the foundation for the prophetic system described in Revelation? Richard Syrett welcomes retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. If You're a FAN leave me a message :-) But more importantly, let us know what you think, suggestions, topics, constructive criticism... ALL WELCOME!!In this episode of 15 Minute Monday, I explore the tyranny of optionality: the psychological cost of constantly preserving alternatives and waiting for certainty before choosing. You will learn why imaginary futures always look better than lived ones, how indecision slowly erodes confidence, and why commitment can create a deeper form of freedom.I introduce the Five-Step Commitment Filter to help you price the cost of an open door, distinguish reversible choices from identity decisions, choose the regret you can respect, make commitment visible and create a review point without building an escape hatch. If you have been researching, comparing, postponing or quietly standing in the hallway of your own life, this conversation may give you the clarity to finally choose.#SuccessBlueprint #MindworxCoaching #PeakPerformance #DocMartyMushrooms #15MinuteMondays #TyrannyOfOptionality #DecisionMaking #Commitment #SelfLeadership #Focus #Indecision #ExecutiveCoaching #HumanBehaviour #StrategicThinking #PersonalGrowthSupport the showContact me:Daniel@the-success-blueprint.co.zawww.mindworx.bizdaniel@mindsworx.comInstagram: @Mindworx_Coaching

A company cannot move quickly when every decision requires unanimous approval. Leadership means listening to the team without surrendering the responsibility to make the final call. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex breaks down why consensus-driven leadership slows execution, weakens authority, and pushes businesses toward safe, average decisions. Strong leaders gather input. They study the facts. Then they decide. Your team does not need a CEO who avoids conflict. They need someone willing to absorb the pressure, make the difficult choice, and provide a clear direction forward. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why waiting for unanimous approval destroys business agility• How excessive compromise leads to weak, average decisions• Why leaders should collect advice without giving up final authority• How conviction and rapid decision-making increase market velocity The truth is simple: Leadership is not about being liked by everyone. It is about making the decision the business needs. Gather the information. Run the numbers. Make the call. Then lead the team forward with confidence. You are the captain of the ship. What did James Madison fear most about democracy? Madison believed tyranny could come not only from kings and dictators, but from the majority itself when power goes unchecked. In this episode, I reveal Madison’s plan to stop tyranny, protect individual rights, and design a Constitution strong enough to control government—and force government to control itself.
