In this America's Founding Series episode of The P.A.S. Report, Professor Nick Giordano tells the incredible true story of Samuel Whittemore, the nearly 79-year-old farmer and veteran who stood alone against British forces during the retreat from Lexington and Concord. With nothing but a musket, two pistols, and a sword, Whittemore launched a one-man assault against the world's most powerful army, surviving a shot to the face and thirteen bayonet wounds to live another eighteen years. His astonishing courage reveals the forgotten spirit of self-reliance, resilience, and civic duty that fueled the American Revolution and stands in stark contrast to today's growing culture of government dependency. This gripping, historically accurate narrative brings to life a forgotten patriot whose story embodies American grit and the timeless fight for liberty. Episode Highlights The dramatic, minute-by-minute story of Samuel Whittemore's one-man stand against the British Army during the retreat from Lexington and Concord. How Whittemore's survival, despite being shot in the face and bayoneted thirteen times, became a symbol of early American grit, courage, and self-reliance. Why Whittemore's example reveals the difference between a nation built by independent citizens and a society consumed by government dependency.
In this episode, Steve Wood reveals how many well-meaning Catholic porn-recovery approaches fall into a dangerous pseudo-spirituality that actually leads to deeper bondage. Using Colossians 2, he explains how “elemental spirits” (stoicheion) and human traditions can masquerade as virtue—especially when programs rely on extreme asceticism, guilt, and harsh self-discipline instead of the power of Christ. Steve highlights the key passages in Colossians showing that Christ has already forgiven, freed, and triumphed over the spiritual powers. He stresses the crucial warning of Colossians 2:23: severe practices may look wise, but they have no value in overcoming the flesh. If you or someone you love is seeking real freedom from pornography, this episode will help you discern between programs rooted in Christ's strength and those that rely on human effort alone. Listen now to rediscover Christ-centered freedom—and to break from the deceptive spiritual practices that keep so many Catholics stuck in cycles of defeat. Your job isn't to be your employees' therapist. It's to lead them toward delivering value to customers. And sometimes the most caring thing you can do is tell them the truth they need to hear, not the comfort they want to feel. Stop letting emotions become tyranny. Start leading with truth. True love. True care. Watch out for the tyranny of empathy.

Our country has a decades-long history of candidates promising to reduce war and spending. And then, of course, when they get in office, they seem to do the opposite, no matter which political persuasion. The only good news is that when the public feels deceived, they Elect the opposite party. But of course within a year it is just more of the same.Ron Paul has reminded us that there is no perfection either by liberty or by tyranny. He suggested the solution is to introduce more individual voluntary choice into our system.Clip Used: Conservatives Fume Over 'Former' Al Qaeda In The White HouseBy: RonPaulLibertyReportFollow Us:YouTubeTwitterFacebookBlueskyAll audio & videos edited by: Jay Prescott Videography
Today on Ascend: The Great Books Podcast, Dcn. Harrison Garlick and Dr. Matthew Bianco of the Circe Institute discuss the second part of Plato's Gorgias--the dialogue between Socrates and Polus—Gorgias' spirited, “colt-like” student who bursts in at 461b accusing his own teacher of being “too ashamed” to admit rhetoric needs no justice, only the power to persuade. Visit thegreatbookspodcast.com for our reading schedule.Visit our LIBRARY OF WRITTEN GUIDES to the great books.Visit our sister publication, THE ASCENT, for two spiritual lessons per week. What follows is pure Platonic fireworks: Socrates refuses long speeches, forces short questions, and delivers the unforgettable pastry-baker analogy (462–466a), branding rhetoric as mere flattery—like cookery or cosmetics for the soul—that “has no speech to give about the nature of the things” (465a). Polus agrees with several premises yet recoils when Socrates concludes that doing injustice is worse than suffering it, and the unpunished tyrant is the unhappiest man alive (478–479). The conversation spirals into a shocking vision of punishment as medicine for the soul: the wrongdoer should run to the judge “as to a doctor” (480b). Throughout, the hosts explore whether rhetoric itself is evil or only rhetoric divorced from philosophy, using the tripartite soul as a foothold—Gorgias as corrupted intellect, Polus as honor-craving thumos, Callicles (next week) as unashamed appetite—while Socrates models a just soul governing all three. Dr. Bianco brings fresh insight into Socrates' tailored pedagogy and the happiness that only a philosophical rhetoric can truly serve.Key Themes & Search Tags:• Plato's Gorgias• Polus• Rhetoric vs Philosophy• Tripartite Soul• Doing injustice vs suffering injustice• Punishment as medicine• Pastry-baker analogy• Classical Education• Socrates pedagogy• Pleonexia• Happiness eudaimonia

HELP SUPPORT US AS WE DOCUMENT HISTORY HERE: https://gogetfunding.com/help-keep-wam-alive/# Josh Sigurdson reports on the implementation of tax payer funded government grocery stores proposed for all boroughs of New York City by newly elected mayor Zohran Mamdani. This proposal is not new. It has been promoted by the World Economic Forum for over a decade and previously as we reported 2 years ago, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called for government run grocery stores as well. This is the introduction to a technocratic system of governance where one is not just dependent on grocery stores for food which is dangerous already, but people will be dependent on the government for food. Part of the normalization of food dependence on the state as we walk in unison towards a technocratic food rations system based on social credit scores via digital IDs. It is not a coincidence that inflation has made food unaffordable, programs have been cut, desperation is high and there are shortages across the board. It's also not a coincidence that governments are cracking down on both farmers and truckers, devastating the supply chain. None of this is coincidence. For them to come in with this government grocery store system is all too convenient. In New York City, there are already stores where you have to tap your credit card and pay just to enter. Biometrics are being rolled out across the board. NYC has even proposed food police to restrict what people buy based on the government's standard of "health" which we all know is backwards on purpose. As we see food lines, it is also convenient that one year ago, 193 countries signed onto the UN Pact For The Future which allows the government to shut down your bank account if you say something they don't like and it also can force you into a social credit system with food rations. All they need is an "emergency order." Add in the recently mandated digital IDs in the UK as well as the digital ID and biometric rollout in over 100 countries at the same time, if this doesn't seem nefarious to you yet, give your head a shake... Zohran Mamdani who promotes socialist policies and was literally an actor is all just part of the theater. This goes for the left and right sides of the pepsi-coke paradigm. President Trump is rapidly pushing technocratic policies. As is Elon Musk. They're utilizing manufactured crises on both sides to push this anti-human movement on you, out of desperation. They're dependent on your dependence and most people are incredibly dependent. Tyranny comes under the guise of convenience so that is what they're offering. At your own peril. Prepare yourselves. Seattle has been a target of anti-car activism since at least the early 1960s, when the construction of I-5 carved up the Chinatown International District. Washington architect Paul Thiry said the creation of the freeway signaled when Seattle started to lose its identity as a city. But what would a less car-centric Seattle actually look like? Whom would it benefit? And is it even feasible? The hosts of "The War on Cars" podcast join "Soundside" for more. In this podcast episode, Vulcan (aka Coach House) discusses the impact of modern conveniences on our capabilities and daily lives. He explores how technology, while beneficial, can lead to a decline in physical fitness, social interactions, and problem-solving skills. The conversation emphasizes the importance of auditing personal capabilities and being prepared for unexpected situations, ultimately questioning whether our reliance on convenience makes us more fragile.TakeawaysConvenience can lead to a decline in physical capabilities.Technology is a double-edged sword; it can enhance or hinder our skills.Social interactions are diminishing due to reliance on technology. We should regularly audit our personal capabilities.Being prepared for unexpected situations is crucial.Micro conversations with strangers enrich our lives.Functional fitness is essential for maintaining utility in daily life. The mind is our most powerful tool for problem-solving.Modern conveniences can create a false sense of security. We must reflect on what conveniences we take for granted.TitlesThe Tyranny of Convenience: Are We Losing Our Capabilities?Navigating Modern Life: The Impact of Technology on UsSound bites"What are we losing?""It's a thinking exercise.""What if it goes away?"Chapters00:00 Introduction to Convenience and Capabilities02:48 The Tyranny of Convenience05:53 Technology and Its Impact on Daily Life08:42 Social Interactions and Micro Conversations11:34 Functional Fitness and Utility14:17 Auditing Personal Capabilities17:26 Preparedness and Problem Solving20:12 The Fragility of Modern Life23:07 The Importance of Physical Activity25:46 Conclusion and Reflection on Convenience
This episode is part of a special series called "Changing American Car Culture" funded with the generous support of The Helen and William Mazer Foundation. As historian Peter Norton documents in his book, Fighting Traffic, the death and destruction caused by the introduction of automobiles into U.S. cities in the early part of the 20th century caused a lot of people to challenge the notion that such machines would ever become popular. In response, autmobile companies, car dealers, driving enthuisasts, and others went on the offense, creating the culture that gave rise to the mass adoption of cars and the phenomenon of forced car dependence. In this special episode, producer Ilana Strauss brings us a story that begins with the pushback against automobiles, the fight for speed governors, and the unlikely partnership between a Studebaker dealer and a young academic who manufactured the rules and norms that came to shape American streets at the expense of anyone who isn't in a car. In this podcast, Coach House/Vulcan discusses the concept of 'The Tyranny of Convenience,' exploring how modern technology and conveniences have led to a dependency that may hinder our ability to navigate challenges. He reflects on personal experiences, the importance of preparedness, and the need for self-reliance in a world where convenience is often taken for granted. The conversation emphasizes the significance of having a plan B and being physically and mentally prepared for unexpected situations.TakeawaysThe reliance on convenience can lead to a lack of preparedness.Understanding navigation without technology is crucial.Physical fitness is essential for handling emergencies.Community events can foster fitness and preparedness.Having a plan B is vital for unexpected situations.Self-reliance is a key component of survival.Technology should enhance, not replace, our skills.Awareness of surroundings is important for safety.Convenience can become a liability if over-relied upon.Taking small steps today can lead to greater preparedness tomorrow.TitlesThe Tyranny of Convenience: Are We Too Dependent?Navigating Life: The Importance of a Plan BSound bites"What's Your Plan B?""What happens if it goes away?""Today is day one, not one day."Chapters00:00 Introduction to the Tyranny of Convenience02:48 The Impact of Technology on Daily Life05:42 Navigating Without Technology08:42 The Importance of Physical Preparedness11:22 Contingency Planning and Plan B14:12 Community Fitness and Responsibility17:08 Self-Reliance and Basic Skills19:54 The Challenge of Convenience22:43 Practical Exercises for Preparedness25:53 Conclusion and Call to Action

In today's fast-paced world, millions struggle with anxiety and depression despite technological advances meant to simplify life. The problem isn't just busyness - it's living without margin, the crucial space between our load and our limits. Many operate at 120% capacity, leaving no room for the unexpected opportunities God sends our way. The enemy strategically uses noise, hurry, and crowds to attack what matters most: our relationship with Jesus. He doesn't need our possessions; he simply wants to keep us so distracted that we slowly drift from our first love. Even good, godly activities become weapons against spiritual growth when they prevent us from spending time with God. The story of Mary and Martha illustrates this perfectly. While Martha busily prepared an elaborate meal for Jesus, Mary chose to sit at His feet and listen. When Martha complained, Jesus gently reminded her that while many things seem urgent, only one thing is truly necessary. Mary had chosen the better part - being with Jesus rather than just working for Him. This teaches us two vital lessons: our service must flow from relationship, not replace it, and we must focus on the one thing that gives meaning to everything else. When we prioritize time with Jesus over endless preparations and distractions, we discover the peace, joy, and strength needed for truly abundant living.

When – and how – did Athenian democracy begin? There is no unambiguous answer to this question. This lecture explores one plausible origin: the popular uprising in 508 BCE overthrowing foreign invaders (who had previously expelled an Athenian-bred family of tyrants). In the aftermath of that revolution, the Athenians – led by Kleisthenes – reorganised their political system to foster new identities and interactions. As further political and social changes were made, Athenian democracy took shape in the imaginations of contemporaries and of later generations. This lecture was recorded by Professor Melissa lane on the 16th of October 2025 at Barnards Inn Hall, London.Melissa Lane is the Class of 1943 Professor of Politics, Princeton University and is also Associated Faculty in the Department of Classics and Department of Philosophy. What will it take to wake more of the world up to the dangers of mass automobility — and could a book be help Americans imagine a future beyond car dominance? That's what Sarah Goodyear and her co-authors are hoping as they release their new book "Life After Cars: Freeing Ourselves From the Tyranny of the Automobile." Along with Doug Gordon and Aaron Naperstek, with whom she co-founded the legendary "War on Cars" podcast, she's bringing the conversation about transportation reform to a new audience, and hoping to give even veteran advocates new tools to talk about why we need to radically rethink our streets. We sat down with Goodyear at the Vision Zero Cities conference in New York City last week to dig deep into the research about how, in her words, "cars ruin" so much of our world, why we can't dismantle other forms of violence without confronting our violent transportation system, and the one politician she most wants to pick up this book.
This week on The Resistance: An Underground Educators Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Jamila Lyiscott, a poet, scholar, and truth-teller working to dismantle one of education's biggest lies: that the way our students speak, think, and move is something that needs to be fixed. This episode is not for the faint of heart. This week, we dive into the transformative potential of a world less reliant on automobiles and ask the question: "why aren't we more honest about the harms caused by our car dependency?" We're joined by the amazing Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon, co-hosts of "The War on Cars" podcast and co-authors of the new book, "Life After Cars," to explores the deep-seated cultural and economic ties to car dependency and the urgent need to change it. We look at how car culture became intertwined with the American dream and the historical and societal factors that have perpetuated this problem. Sarah and Doug discuss the environmental and social costs of our car-centric infrastructure, including pollution, social disconnection, and the harms on children's development. We delve into the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to electric vehicles, acknowledging their benefits while cautioning against simply replacing one form of car dependency with another. Finally, we look at very real examples of change like the bike bus movement in the United States and the transformative policies implemented by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo to reduce car use. We talk about how these stories illustrate the power of grassroots activism and political courage to create more livable, car-free spaces. Sarah Goodyear is a journalist and author who has covered cities and transportation for publications such as Grist, CityLab, and Streetsblog. Doug Gordon is a TV producer and writer who is also a neighborhood safe streets advocate, better known online as Brooklyn Spoke. Increasingly we are seeing history repeat. Tyranny always follows the same playbook. Central to the success of Tyranny are the temptations for a better world, always looking for the few that will agree and be used as the poster children to usher in the new era. Our call is in Christ. Our call is to spread the good news. Our call is to be obedient to only GOD and beholden to no man. That call demands sacrifice and is not easy. Our riches are being stored in heaven, not earth. #BardsFM_Morning #Temptations #TheWayOfChrist Bards Nation Health Store: www.bardsnationhealth.com BardsFM CAP, Celebrating 50 Million Downloads: https://ambitiousfaith.net Morning Intro Music Provided by Brian Kahanek: www.briankahanek.com MYPillow promo code: BARDS Go to https://www.mypillow.com/bards and use the promo code BARDS or... I sat down this week with Alisyn Camerota and Dave Briggs on their “Sanity Podcast” to discuss how life is for me as a four month old Democrat, what the No Kings protests mean, what the protests must lead to, and why basic human decency is gonna carry the day in 2026. Cool conversation. Have a listen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

While we think of automobiles as an integral part of American life, the fact is that they're just objectively a bad form of transportation. They're costly, they don't scale well, and they're a leading cause of death in the country. The oil and automobile lobbies have done a lot of work to make it feel like there's no way we could live without cars, but the fact remains that it's very possible to take significant steps to diminish the relevance of cars in everyday life. This week, Adam sits with Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon, hosts of the War on Cars podcast, and the authors along with Aaron Naparstek of the new book LIFE AFTER CARS: Freeing Ourselves from the Tyranny of the Automobile. Paul Dragu is a Senior Editor at The New American. He is an award-winning reporter and host of The New American Daily. He is writer of Defector: A True Story of Tyranny, Liberty and Purpose. All over the country there is a push for AI-driven data centers. CNET.com says, "Think of them as AI factories, churning out your responses from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and all the other generative AI tools. The cost is staggering. We're talking 7-foot-high server racks with hundreds of cords connected: blue, red, black, yellow, orange, green. These are centers that host our photos and videos, stream our…shows, handle financial transactions and so much more." There is machine after machine all with an unquenchable thirst for electric power. According to our guest today, globalist equity firms are scooping up local energy companies across the country. Should there be concern?

Is it possible to reform America's blighted hellscape of car-dependent suburban sprawl, big box stores, strip malls, and stroads into something more healthy and human? Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon (of the podcast The War on Cars) argue yes, in their new book Life After Cars: Freeing Ourselves from the Tyranny of the Automobile. They outline the gruesome history of automobiles, what they've done to American lives and cities, and how we might RETVRN. Check out the famous Andre Gorz essay "The Social Ideology of the Motorcar" here.
https://fb.nativepath.com/rd/r.php?sid=1947&pub=240725&c1=pasreportcoll070125&c2=&c3=bannersIn this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nicholas Giordano takes aim at the absurdity of the so-called “No Kings” protest, where activists chant about tyranny while embracing a government that controls nearly every aspect of life. Professor Giordano then breaks down the government shutdown and exposes how Democrats' refusal to support a clean funding resolution is driven by their obsession with power and the big government apparatus. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the far left are holding the country hostage to protect the failed Obamacare system and keep COVID-era subsidies that have fueled premium spikes, eliminated competition, and increased dependency. He explains how Obamacare is one of the most costly policy failures in American history, and how big government continues to punish working Americans while rewarding bureaucrats and special interests. Episode Highlights: The hypocrisy of the No Kings protests as activists rail against tyranny while demanding more government control over every part of American life. Democrats are blocking a clean funding resolution to protect Obamacare subsidies and weaponize the shutdown for political leverage as the Schumer Shutdown continues. The Obamacare Collapse, premiums are skyrocketing, illegal immigrants exploit loopholes, and the only thing keeping the system alive is endless taxpayer money.
