Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. This week we continue our discussions around BLM with particular focus on Pride and Trans issues. We have the pleasure of interviewing Romy and Iona from Sage Flowers in South London. Romy and Iona are small business owners who are making a big difference when it comes to matters of inclusion and diversity within the British flower world. The traditional art of floristry in the UK, is typically associated with whiteness and elitism. Romy and Iona have taken many impressive measures to challenge the status quo and hold themselves and others accountable. Please follow their creative work and activism via their instagram page @sage.flowers You can also find them through their website www.sageflowers.co.uk where (if you are UK based) you can order their gorgeous arrangements. As two white women, we acknowledge our responsibility to keep the conversation about anti-racist activism and white supremacy continuing past its most recent iteration in the wake of George Floyd's death. We unreservedly and wholeheartedly support #blacklivesmatter. In this episode we discuss our responses, pledge our support and acknowledge our culpability. None of what we discuss is remotely new or revolutionary. Nonetheless, we wanted to make our position clear. As we mention in this episode, if you are Black or a Person of Colour thinking about starting your own podcast, we are offering free technical support and production advice. If you are Black or a POC and would like space on our platform right now, our virtual doors are open. Please do not hesitate to get in touch at projectharness@gmail.com

For today's episode: we chat news (sort of), hear from our lovely listeners (including Daisy's mum!) and discuss isolation with junior doctor Radhika (AKA @veggierad on Instagram). It was such a treat to chat to Radhika, she gave us a comforting perspective on how hospitals in the UK are coping right now. She explains to us how she sees work as part of her self care and how it was to have coronavirus herself! Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. In this episode, we've skipped our usual news and voice note segments to get straight into a story. This story is about our dear friend Nathan Whitebrook and his complicated journey with his health and lockdown. Nathan has already been through a lock down of sorts. At 22 he was hospitalised for 2 months. He faced death, and had to deal with a string of medical issues as a result. He has a lot of wisdom about how to survive (and thrive) in times of isolation and loneliness. He’s also the sweetest human in the planet and we are beyond grateful for him sharing his story.
