This is a conversation for farmers not to be missed! Allan Parker OAM was a crowd favourite at VicNoTill's conference Transition23 and captured the attention of the whole room within 10 seconds of starting his presentation. VicNoTill board member Michael Gooden catches up with Allan in Wagga Wagga during his 2024 Regional Brain Reset Tour to talk about succession planning, improving negotiation between family members when making farm decisions, transitioning to a more regenerative farming system without compromising the profitability of the business and a whole lot more. Allan introduces himself as an eccentric Micro-Behavioural Neuroscientist, International Negotiator, and Educator. Outside his work life he has been a professional golfer and has run 16 marathons and 11 ultra marathons (including 24 hours twice). He wrote Australia's first degree in negotiation in 2012 and was the recipient of an Order of Australia Medal for his contribution to business and dispute resolution in 2019. From the boardrooms of the biggest corporate organisations in the world to the kitchen tables on rural and remote farming properties, Allan Parker's approach to negotiation is the same. The author of The Negotiator's Toolkit, the bestseller Switch on Your Brain; and co-author of Beyond Yes – Negotiating and Networking says there is great wisdom in Charlie Arnott's saying ‘the paddock between our ears is what we've got to get sorted out first'. “Negotiation, whether informal chat on the phone or chat in hallway or something bigger and more serious, we are involved in negotiating the whole time. Everything you think inside your head turns up in your verbal conversation in some form or another," Allan says.

"Shane O'Mara Wore Mascara" Okay, so let's not be ridiculous--it's impossible to tell you a little bit about Lindy Morrison because there's so much to tell. But for the sake of time I'll condense what I can about this remarkable woman--just keep in mind this is a partial and very expurgated description of her accomplishments. My suggestion is that you read My Rock And Roll Friend, by Everything But the Girl's Tracey Thorn, who writes about her friendship with Morrison while offering a contextual explanation about why she's such an important musician, drummer and artist. The Sydney-born Morrison played in the all-female Aussie punk band Zero before joining the Go-Betweens in 1980. She was with the Go-Betweens until 1989, playing on such classic albums as Tallulah, Spring Hill Fair and 16 Lovers Lane. In addition to being a drummer, Morrison is an activist, a social worker and a humanitarian. She's worked on behalf of Aboriginal rights, women's rights and the rights of musicians with mild intellectual disabilities. Her extensive writing about gender issues in the music industry is peerless. She was awarded The Order of Australia Medal for services as a performer and advocate, and back in 2007 she was appointed as an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Music Council of Australia for her services assisting community music initiatives and guidance around performer's rights. She's a rockstar, yes, but she's also a rockstar as a person. Over the course of her career she's collaborated with everyone from Nikki Sudden to Nick Cave, and currently she's playing with Alex the Astronaut and the SnarskiCircusLindyBand with Rob Snarski of the Blackeyed Susans. Morrison is a subtle and smart drummer, whose sneaky percussive fills roll with rhythmic grace and steady muscle. And she's a blast to talk to--you're going to love her. www.robsnarski.bandcamp.com www.go-betweens.net www.bombshellradio.com www.alexgreenbooks.com www.stereoembersmagazine.com Twitter: @emberseditor IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be? “Unnecessary suffering”_____________________________I've worked in a few factories in my life- if only this kind of factory existed when I was a kid! I'm talking about the Kindness Factory - a global not-for-profit organisation and movement which inspires ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Not only is this the most interesting not-for-profit I've heard of, but the founder is one seriously fascinating (& kind) human. I'm thrilled to sit down with Kath Koschel today as her story is probably not like any you've ever heard before. A former professional cricketer and Iron Man competitor, Kath has defied all medical prognoses by teaching herself to walk on three separate occasions. Despite facing other serious personal, mental and physical setbacks, her resilience allowed her not only to overcome these challenges but also to see the good in the world when most others couldn't. In November 2015, she founded Kindness Factory, with the goal of encouraging and inspiring 1 million acts of kindness. To date, they've logged over 6 million acts of kindness !! and Kath has raised close to half a million dollars for various charity organisations and was the recipient of the 2016 Pride of Australia Medal for showing courage in the face of extreme adversity. Kath was also awarded the Young Australian Medal and the People's Choice of Australia award in 2017.Kath's bio makes it a little daunting to meet her - she's one seriously epic human who is changing the world for the better. But as you're about to hear - you couldn't meet a more down to earth person if you tried. Please enjoy this wonderful conversation with Kath Koschel. Former Paralympian Jessica Smith joins us on the episode for a very honest discussion on diversity, and inclusion for people with disabilities. As an elite swimmer who represented Australia in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Jessica isn't a stranger to the pressures of performance and scrutiny. But when it comes to athletes with disabilities, this is compounded by the lack of much-needed psychological, financial, and infrastructural support, as well. After retiring at the age of 22 to address her eating disorders and mental wellbeing, the athlete turned to being a loud and strong advocate for disability awareness, diversity and inclusion. She was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for her outstanding achievement and service towards this cause. As a co-founder of Touch, a talent management and inclusivity consultancy, which she set up after moving to Dubai in 2019, Jessica works with her team to provide opportunities for athletes with disabilities, and leads the conversation around effective inclusion and diversity. In the episode, Jessica takes us into conversations on inclusion that are rarely spoken about. She opens up about finding and losing her identity to swimming, and then regaining it once she moved away. She also shares her thoughts on what more can be done to diversify the sporting ecosystem and how to start the conversation around inclusivity and community integration. Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Lynn Santer, Author, “Swan Song” and Filmmaker, “Land of the Free: In the Shadows” About Harvey's guest: Today's guest, Lynn Santer, is a best selling author and internationally acclaimed filmmaker who's making her second appearance on our show. Last year she was here with her filmmaking partner, James Ganiere, to discuss her monumentally important, multiple award winning movie, “Land of the Free: In the Shadows”, which is mobilizing people all over the world to join the battle to end the barbaric practice of trophy hunting of endangered species. Aside from her highly successful film career, she's written numerous best selling books including “Sins of Life”, which led to a trilogy of novels, and a series of children's books entitled “The Magical Scarecrows”, which earned her a nomination for the Pride of Australia Medal. Today, she's here to discuss her brand new novel, written for young adults, entitled “Swan Song”. The story is inspired by real events that occurred on the lake on our guest's property, an idyllic tropical paradise called “Mermaid Waters”, at her home on the Gold Coast of Australia. The book tells a captivating, dramatic and heartwarming story of a community of swans and other wildlife, who endure treachery, sacrifice and self-discovery. The book will form the basis of an animated feature film, to be executive produced by Priscilla Presley, and featuring the music of the Mzansi Youth Choir of Soweto, and compositions by Grammy nominated composer Mauritz Lotz. Dr. John Coleman, ND I go back to saying, yes, all these things, these diseases were caused by the same processes. They're just a set of symptoms. And so, to change my health, I need to change the processes and I need to change my attitude. Me. I have to do it, not someone in a white coat with a bottle of pills, although they can be useful.
