This is an episode I didn't want to do as much as I needed to do it. If you've listened to IBMP since the beginning, you already know I've been talking about this for awhile now. This would've dropped sooner but I wanted to record this with less emotion as possible, in an effort to say my piece in a more logical manner and I hope it gets through. White people, BLACK people, Americans, and everybody in between be prepared to be inspired or very offended. All words of Miles Amadeus Prower reflect his opinions and his alone, Hyphen Podcast Group or any of it's podcasts had no say or input in any of this content. Happy Juneteenth! I do not own any rights to any music used in this episode......blame Kelen and Raul:) --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/i-black-man-podcast/support
This podcast was supposed to be a entertaining diversion from the end of days movie we all are currently living in, but Maps SLIGHTLY veered away from the original plan. If you've been rocking with ANY of the great podcasts from Hyphen Podcast Group lately you'd know we've increased production to provide more content for all of you during these crappy times. And here at A Podcast Called Fresh, we usually provide you with reviews of comics, cartoons, movies and anime...but not this episode. From the title you can surmise Maps' feelings about/toward Michiganders Against Excessive Quarantine, a group that strongly opposes the current quarantine laws. As a black father and husband in the great state of Michigan, Maps has more then a little bit to say about the COVID-19 pandemic in his state. So please enjoy the official Offensively Black Hyphen Podcast Group Rant of 2020. Make sure to go check out The Delicate Dominance Podcast, you're playing yourself if you don't! I'm sorry for the wait, especially to my dedicated listeners. This episode was recorded before the previous but released after. One of the reasons for that was due to my podcasting cousins from Talk Black to Me Podcast, they gave me a shout out that made me feel mayhaps it'd be best if I dropped this one later. As my loyal listeners know that one of the recurring subjects of this podcast is depression, and my personal struggles with it. With that said, before recording this my depression was pretty bad and I recorded this episode umpteen times in an attempt to provide you guys with an episode that's more then me just raging and complaining. Even after editing and mixing this I wanted to erase it and start over, but Kel said "Naw, you better drop that shit." What you are about to hear is my attempts at venting and trying to get to the root of my issues. It's not my intention to offend anybody with my words, this episode, and i truly feel those that know me whether by listening or personally, will understand my words and intentions. It is truly my greatest hope that ANY of this aids anybody going through depression or anger issues and helps them see the world and themselves differently. See you later....Maps out. That's no typo, this IS episode 47, and after next episode it'll all make sense. Due to the actions of Elle-Double and Jah of Talk of the Talk Black to Me Podcast, Maps was forced release this episode out of order. To hear the loving "tribute" they made, go listen to their latest episode, ya boy was honored to say the least. We start this episode off talking about Miles' distaste for working a 9 to 5 and how it wrecks havoc on his existence, after that Jermaine Dupri's comments on female emcees and Maps' opinions about it and female rappers in general. From there our host talks about how a tweet he read made him think about would you rather your daughter be a successful stripper or drug dealer, and how he reacted to the response from his Hyphen family. Lastly Mr. Prower discusses a conversation he had about pronouns and racial slurs he had on Facebook. I'm gonna be honest with you guys, this episode was recorded in several parts and edited together. From the start I had no idea of what i wanted to cover, just that I wanted to make an honest attempt to talk about mental health....and I think I did a semi decent job? I start this episode off taking about how I've been debating taking a break from doing this for awhile and trying to get my mind correct. But Tony Stank say "We ain't got time for that. King Kur say "We ain't got time for that!" Speaking of my comrade Bomb, I talk about the recent conversation we had about promoting and branding. It appears June is not only my born-month but also Pride Month! And if you know me, you know I got at LEAST 2 cents to say about it. This episode has more mentions of Ms. Laney Bennis and our conflicting views of relationship responsibilities as well as the cruel joke of women's and men's differing sex drives. Oh yeah... I eventually get around to talking about mental health and that big news the title mentioned. Continuing his trend of passionately offending people with his two cents on social topics, Miles starts off taking on the new abortion bans and apparently he forgot he cut that segment out of the last episode. He breaks the whole debate down and sees it from both sides as well offering his own solution to the problem. Lastly the topic of marriage is covered as well as the reason Ariel(Elaine Bennis) probably likes him less now. And if you listen with an open mind you'll hear how Miles' wife saved his life. We start this episode off with a personal briefing and a shameless plug. After all the pleasantries Miles gets into the Ayesha Curry attention deal, as well as giving his 2 cents on all these abortion bans in the United States. To finish the episode off Maps shares his complied notes for Project SamWise. Basically he gives a lot of raw advice for expecting fathers, and info on how to deal/handles the upcoming change in their lives. It's truly a labor of sincerity and love, hope some of you can learn something and all of you enjoy it. As you can tell from the title, this was recorded before the last episode. Miles starts off bringing you up to speed on his absence, going-ons and what his stank ass has been up to. Sad to say Maps isn't taking the passing of Nipsey Hussle too well, and is trying to find a way to take his grief and turn it into something productive. From there he gives his thoughts on the supposed gay agenda and how not liking something isn't the same as being scared of or hating it. Other topics covered include Mile's thoughts on Kodak Black's comments on Lauren London, his struggles with promoting his podcasts, bettering himself and etc. For more media from Maps, as well as other great podcasts, head on over to www.hyphenpodcastgroup.com, and go to https://www.patreon.com/hyphenpodcastgroup if the spirit moves you to support. We had to dust this one off before posting! Sorry for the absence, ya boy been maaad multitasking! I know, I know, excuses only satisfy the people who make them. I starts this episode talking about seeing Endgame leaked footage, before the movie release, and how I was reluctntly excited to see it. After that I go into my experienced being forced out of my Sanctum Sanctorum to visit family in GA. Although I tried to set up plans to record, ultimately things fell through. Originally upset that my plans fell through, my wife peeped me to how much fun my gyrls were having playing with their cousins. Also I touch on how I had to stop myself from overreacting after Gifted Gab said she'd listen to my podcast a review and it apparently never happened. Don't get it twisted, it's all love, I just used that as an example of how if I don't check myself I'm prone to look like an ass. Other topics covered include; how much nicer I am opposed to the men that raised me, compromising with my wife, ultimately his wife is always right, and more! Maps begins this episode talking about how he celebrated his daughter’s birthday as well as his gripes with planning events around relatives. Miles finds himself understanding his Old Man a little more while venting about his unwillingness to do most things. Before we forget, this episode we mused by Aaron, the Patron Saint of It’s Like A Podcast or Whatever. While discussing his apprentice on ILAPOW, Miles talks about his love of all 1980s Transformers movies and it’s effects on his mind. Listen we’re gonna level with you guess....Miles said a lot of things about Handsome Bane that he’s not really happy with or proud of, but positive things were said that can’t be taken back. All this and more in this episode of IBMP! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/i-black-man-podcast/support
In the first episode of A Podcast Called Fresh, hosts Maps and Kelen Conley start off by discussing their love for comics since youth, and get into a review and movie pitch for Marvel's Nextwave TPB, written by Warren Ellis. Maps, Jah Ali and Elle-Double faced more than a few challenges while recording this episode but due to their love for you all and their overall hardheadedness...here we are! Besides being the obvious conclusion of part 1, it also covers how things will never be fair in a relationship, how to keep peace with your significant woman-lady/Legal Property, explaining some of the logic behind why men cheat and much more. Recorded on Saturday and upload at like 11:58, s technically its Monday's show? Sorry for the delay but I think we got a good episode here, not only is it the third episode to feature a co-host but it's the first episode to feature the Moon to my Earth; Ebby my wife. In all fairness I must admit she wasn't informed prior that I intended to use her in mein recordings. It wouldn't be a IBMP if it didn't have rambling, riffing and random subject changes! This episode my wife gets me to dish out relationship/marriage advice, parenting advice and just a little bit of common sense. Don't forget to call 724-313-4519, and leave a voice message to let me know who's listening and what's going in on your life. Maps starts off congratulating his Legal Property...but descends into a sophomoric rant including topics like bullying, battle rap, an argument he had with an uber driver, positive blackness and religion. The song playing in the brakground during the opening is Climbed Mountain by Uyama Hiroto, off the album Son of the Sun. I do not own ANY rights to the music. Please go buy the album, its awesome. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/i-black-man-podcast/support
Not only is this the first episode of IBMP with a guest, its the first volume of Melanated Misfits! Maps and Twinn talk politics, break the Kardashian Kode, Trump, how the Me Too movement is good but will need to be checked, the Infinity War movie, male/female relations... and a bit of everything else! We're trying to eventually make this a monthly thing, so if you like what you hear please let us know if you want more Melanated Misfits! *Disclaimer* The quality of this episode may be up to snuff for most, not for us at I, Black Man Podcast. Due to conflicting schedules, Maps and Twinn were forced to record while in two different locations. Due to this the audio didn't come out top notch and a considerable amount of editing had to be done. All that aside thank you for looking past the tech issues and for even reading this shit, look at you all involved and shit! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/i-black-man-podcast/support
