The Notion Podcast – Episode 5170 delivers an unfiltered look at some of today's most talked-about cultural conversations. We start by breaking down the concept of “pick me” culture—where it stems from, how it's shaped by gender dynamics, and why it continues to spark division, especially among women. This leads us into the backlash surrounding Phylicia Rashad, as some women criticize her for comments they feel are outdated or dismissive of modern femininity. But is the critique fair, or is there wisdom in what she's saying? We then examine a deeper social question: Are certain Black and Brown communities in America being socially conditioned to glorify dysfunction? We unpack what it means to be “raised ghetto,” and the systems—both internal and external—that contribute to this mindset. Next, we dissect Donald Trump's latest outrageous statement claiming that undocumented immigrants should be allowed to finish their work in farms and hotels, and then be sent back to apply for citizenship the “right way.” What does this say about the value placed on immigrant labor, and how does it align with America's long-standing issues with immigration hypocrisy? The episode also covers Netflix's latest reality dating experiment—a show where contestants pop balloons as part of a love-finding process. While intended to be playful, it's being roasted online for being ridiculous, tone-deaf, and, according to some, racially insensitive. We explore the backlash and ask: is the criticism rooted in the format, or something deeper? Finally, we close with the ongoing public discourse around Lauren London. After stating she's not interested in dating post-Nipsey Hussle, some fans have criticized her, suggesting that she's holding onto a fantasy of love. Others question why they were never married if their bond was so deep. We discuss the layers of grief, loyalty, and public entitlement when it comes to how we view celebrity relationships.

It is Friday on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. In this episode, the RSMS crew talks about Kanye West's daughter, North, prefers to stay with Kanye instead of Kim. On a recent episode of The Kardashians, Kim talks about North saying that she loves how her dad has no chef, no nanny, no security and lives in a condo. She asks her mom why can't they live in an apartment instead of a $60 Million mansion with maids, chefs, nannies and security. Nipsey Hussle's assets have been split between his two children, Kross and Emani. The assets are a total of $11 Million and Lauren London has received half of that money for Kross and Nipsey's brother, Black Sam has received the other half as the legal guardian of Emani. Usher has known about his Super Bowl performance for a while but he had to keep it a secret. Suge Knight has made some claims about Akon on his podcast Collect Call. Knight said that Akon sexually assaulted an underage girl in a studio. Akon has gotten wind and he and his legal team are fighting back. They are filing defamation claims against Suge Knight even though he is serving a 28 year prison sentence. All of this and more on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In the 'you just can't make this stuff up' category, Suge Knight has a new podcast. Yep, he is still in jail serving a 28 year sentence, but apparently that doesn't matter. He made a deal with David Mays from Source Magazine. The podcast is called Collect Call With Suge Knight. After one episode, as you might guess, there is some drama, because it's Suge Knight. Suge is making audacious claims about Akon, accusing him of raping underage girls in the studio. Akon has refuted the claims in a statement to TMZ Hip Hop, saying the claims are false and he is not standing for the slander. "I need to make it very clear that I absolutely deny these outrageous false and disgusting claims Suge Knight made on his podcast about me," he said. Akon goes on to say that he has never had any contact with Suge since he's been incarcerated, and the voice that you heard on his podcast was a soundbite previously recorded from an interview that Akon did with DJ Vlad three years ago regarding Suge Knight and this incident that happened back in 2009. As you might guess, Akon has gotten his legal team involved. They are filing a defamation lawsuit against Knight. I don't know what that's going to mean because he's already in jail, but anyway, he says that he is still praying for Suge and he will continue to do that. As for the backstory to all of this, in 2009, Suge was left KO'd on the pavement and a man in Akon's camp, Robert Carnes Jr., was arrested for a felony assault that happened in Scottsdale, Arizona. And as they say, the beat goes on. Deion Sanders Advocates for Robbed Players: Calls for NCAA and Rose Bowl to Reimburse Stolen Goods University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders is speaking out about his players being robbed of their personal items at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. This happened last weekend. It was a really big game here for all of us in LA as Colorado played and lost to UCLA. But ESPN is reporting that Sanders has called on the NCAA and the Rose Bowl to reimburse the athletes who were robbed of jewelry and cash as their locker room was raided during the game. He said, "This is the Rose Bowl. They say the Granddaddy of them all, right? I'm sure Granddaddy has some money. Grandpa should have some money to give his kids... They may not be able to get the items back. But we should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelievable." Most of the players didn't have insurance for the stolen items. A report was filed with the Pasadena Police Department regarding the robbery. ESPN is reporting on all of this. Legacy Secured: Nipsey Hussle's Children Declared Sole Beneficiaries of His Estate Nipsey Hussle's brother, Samiel Asghedom, has finalized the work as administrator of the late rapper's estate. And according to the legal papers, Nipsey's two children are his sole beneficiaries. Emani, who's 14, with his ex-girlfriend Tanisha Foster, and Kross Asghedom, whom he shared with then girlfriend Lauren London. Kross and Emani will each receive 50% of the cash and non-cash assets, with an additional $113,000 for health, education, and other matters. His death is still It's such a very, very sad story, but I'm glad the kids will be okay. Britney Spears' Memoir Hits 1.1 Million Sales in First Week Britney Spears' memoir, "The Woman in Me," has sold 1.1 million copies in the U.S. alone, and that was just the first week. She, of course, is grateful to her fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support. I guess you could call it that. The sales figures include pre-orders, print sales, ebooks, and audiobooks. "The Woman in Me," released October 24, has been praised by critics as a compelling account of Britney's rise to global fame and her ongoing struggles, including the conservatorship that lasted for years as her father was in control of much of her life. And she, of course, told about that abortion while dating Justin Timberlake more than 20 years ago. I think that's what sold the book. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

If the work you do today does not bring you Joy, your work is to bring Joy to it.Feel this river of Joy while you work. The river of Joy was already there, and then It seems to appear as you doing work.So today, for the first time, you're remembering the river while you work, feeling the river while you work, being the river while you watch the work.Wherever you are, wherever you go, you bring the Joy.You bring the party. You don't go somewhere to have fun.'I' is the fun!You become aware of the Joy (of the 'I') in that place, beyond the appearance of that place, and so you can become aware of Joy in any place, including your workplace.I Love you ,Niknikki@curlynikki.comJoin our Mantra Chanting Challenge! Starts on Wednesday! Today's Quotes:"Happiness starts with you – not with your relationships, job, or money."-Sadhguru"My heart, flows like a river to the sea,may it always be,may it always be.A river of Grace flows through me,may it always be,may it always be."-Jahnavi Harrison from the song, "Like a River""When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy."-Rumi "Wherever you are, be the soul of that place."-Rumi"Constant repetition of God's name , even without feelings of Devotion, in anger or lethargy , brings out His Grace. Once this is realized, there is no room for misgivings."-Maharajji "Whistle while you twerk." - The Yin Yang Twins "In this life, we learn how to flow with the river, and stop fighting with the rocks."-Lauren London "Flow of Grace." - Krishna Das "When we no longer search for the peace that the world can give, but seek only "my peace," the gates of consciousness open to admit the spiritual light which becomes the life of our being and our body. Many people desire spiritual power in order to enjoy more harmonious experiences. Their purpose in seeking God usually is to enjoy more and better earthly things, to catch larger fish in their nets bigger fish, better fish. But the basis of our work is to "leave your nets," to leave this search for more and better human good and open consciousness to the spiritual realities. Then the things which come to us in the outer world are the fruits of an inward grace. Grace can only be attained by a state of inner silence, a state of inner awareness and receptivity; therefore it is necessary for us to prepare ourselves for the experience of receiving that grace. This is the whole purpose of meditation."-Joel Goldsmith, "The Art of Meditation" (Chapter 2, The Purpose)Support the show
