“Hali Lee is redefining philanthropy for the 21st century. Her activism and generosity are exemplary, and this book celebrates the beauty of community giving, and the power of collective action.” ―Ayesha Curry, Sweet July Books Drawing from the experiences of real-life giving circles, philanthropy leader Hali Lee challenges our traditional understanding of giving, showing how everyday people can take back philanthropy from the billionaires and make the world a better place. When you think of philanthropy, what do you envision? Uber wealthy donors? Extravagant galas? In recent decades, philanthropy has come to be seen as something exclusive to those with an abundance of resources. But giving doesn't have to mean donating millions of dollars. It can be as simple as a group of people who come together to do something good in their community. In The Big We, Hali Lee argues that the future of philanthropy belongs to community action, specifically giving circles―groups of people who come together to pool their resources to make positive change. Born of traditions of generosity rooted in many of our ancestral cultures, giving circles provide a way for us to overcome the feeling many people have of being overwhelmed by the many problems we face by learning, acting, and giving together. Through stories of real giving circles around the country, including her own experience starting the Asian Women Giving Circle, Lee shows us a more expansive vision for the future of philanthropy—one led by people who are refocusing on community, who care about rebuilding the civic space, and who are yearning for connection, purpose and shared vision. These giving circles show not only the immense impact we can have in our own backyards, but also the tremendous scope of change people can achieve through the power of collective action. In episode 118 astrologers Kristina Martin and Tara Redfield take on NBA's greatest 3-point shooter, Stephen Curry and his entrepreneurial wife, Ayesha Curry. The two first met as teenagers and remained friends until a romantic spark was lit and they decided to take their relationship to the next level, eventually marrying and having four children together. First, we look into Ayesha's chart and see a willful, self-motivating Aries Sun. This, combined with a square from Uranus produces someone who makes her own rules and loves to move at lightening speed. However, finding balance is importanat to her as well thanks to her Libra Moon. We also notice an intuitive stellium in Pisces which makes the art of sacrifice easy for her. Next we look at Stephen's chart, and see a proud champion thanks to his Leo Rising sign and his Sun in the athletic and adventurous Ninth House. He's always on the hunt for bigger and better accomplishments. We also see an Aquarius Moon, giving him an outsider quality that sets him apart from other players. However, he also has a challenging T-Square from Venus and Pluto causing tension and issues with power dynamics in relationships. Looking at their compatibility, they have a strong, romantic conjunction between his Sun and her Venus in Pisces, creating feelings of true love and compassion. We also see a promising Sun/Moon sextile, telling us they're partners in crime, but also supportive of each other. But a Saturn/Sun square along with Moon/Mars square definitely adds challenges to the marriage. Careers versus Love, Impatience versus Sensitivity and a heavy sense of responsibility might not make this relationship so easy. Listen in to hear what Venus score this long-standing couple receives! Welcome to The Business of Giving. I'm your host Denver Frederick. Today, we're joined by Chris Helfrich, CEO of Eat. Learn. Play., the foundation founded by Stephen and Ayesha Curry to support children in their adopted hometown of Oakland, California. Focused on three pillars—nutritious meals, education, and play—the foundation has had a transformative impact on thousands of children. One standout moment in our conversation is when Chris shares the philosophy that drives their work: “And that is when Stephen chimed in and said, "Yeah, this is about impact for us, not legacy." And so, we've adopted this mantra, "Impact over legacy.” And that's been close to the center of Eat. Learn. Play. since we started.” This powerful mindset ensures their mission remains focused on making the greatest difference in the lives of Oakland's kids. So, lean in for a compelling conversation that highlights the power of intentionality, community, and unwavering impact. Chris Helfrich, Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation

Kelly and Norah were on very different life paths. Kelly was a model, who spent her free time volunteering with Head Start - an experience that opened her eyes to how many children lacked basic necessities, like properly fitting shoes. Norah was a lawyer at a high-powered New York City firm, who enjoyed engaging in pro bono work, especially in helping low-income women secure housing and other resources. But a dinner between the two - arranged by Kelly's father-in-law - revealed their shared passions for nonprofit work, their new status as mothers, and their interest in pivoting in their careers, eventually leading to the two women becoming the CEOs of Baby2Baby. Now, Baby2Baby provides millions of diapers and other essentials to those in need and garners support from an impressive list of celebrities, including Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian, Ayesha Curry, and Drew Barrymore. In this episode of She Pivots, Kelly and Norah talk about the role of celebrity engagement in Baby2Baby, the logistics of their first 100,000 diaper donation, and overcoming sexism they have faced as CEOs of a female-led non-profit. Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes were joined by Score teammate Cody Westerlund to discus the Bulls' 109-91 loss to the Cavaliers on Monday in Cleveland, why he believes the hopes of Chicago trading star guard Zach LaVine are diminishing, how opposing defenses are focusing more attention on guard Coby White and more. Bernstein and Holmes then explained why the Packers' and Lions' playoff runs mean the path to winning the NFC North will be a difficult one for the Bears. Later, they reacted to actress and cookbook author Ayesha Curry telling the world that her husband, Warriors star guard Stephen Curry, has a foot fetish.
Entrepreneur and cookbook author Ayesha Curry says her love languages are food and beauty. In this episode, the wife of NBA star Stephen Curry talks about working the phones at her mom's hair salon, being a child model, how she found her signature scent, the muscle-sculpting machine she bought on Amazon, and her favorite hair gels. Plus, we chat about her new line, Sweet July Skin, and how it was influenced by her Jamaican heritage.Products mentioned in this episode: shopmy.us/collections/213856Episode recap with links: fatmascara.com/blogSponsor links & discount codes: fatmascara.com/sponsorsPrivate Facebook Group: Fat Mascara Raising a WandSocial media: @fatmascara, @jessicamatlin, @jenn_editSubmit a "Raise A Wand" product recommendation and be featured on the show: email info@fatmascara.com or leave a voicemail at 646-481-8182 Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/fatmascara.
