Welcome to another episode of King-Size Comics Giant-Size Fun, KSCGSF for short, I'm your host Kyle Benning. A decade ago, DC Rebooted their Universe (kinda) with the New 52. Now 10 years later, I sit down & reflect on where I was as a comic reader and in life personally back in 2011, and go over what titles I was reading, and what I thought about the New 52 launch then and now. HOW TO LISTEN: https://kscgsf.libsyn.com/ KINGSIZECOMICSGIANTSIZEFUN.BLOGSPOT.COM Or just search for KSCGSF on Apple Podcasts or Spotify Feedback for the podcast can be left here at the blog & show headquarters. Back in 2016 I started a short-lived podcast on my original King-Size Comics Giant-Size Fun Podcast feed, titled WAR IS HELL, a podcast devoted to the War Comic Stories published by DC Comics. In the third WAR IS HELL episode I examined the second installment of Sam Glanzman's fantastic U.S.S. Stevens feature that ran through the Joe Kubert Presents anthology comic series, titled "Squish-Squash & the Comic Book Crew". This episode was originally released on June 28th 2016. I recently uncovered the original recordings on a computer scrub, and now am releasing them (untouched) onto the new KSCGSF feed. Thank you to all of our brave service members, past and present, who have protected our freedom. All gave some, some gave all. Back in 2016 I started a short-lived podcast on my original King-Size Comics Giant-Size Fun Podcast feed, titled WAR IS HELL, a podcast devoted to the War Comic Stories published by DC Comics. The second WAR IS HELL episode was released on June 14th, 2016, which was also Flag Day, the anniversary of when the US Flag was adopted in 1777 and also the anniversary of the US Army, which was formed on this day in 1775. To celebrate Flag Day and further look at the fantastic sampling of DC's War comics offering, I examined "Tank For Beach Green" by Bob Haney and Joe Kubert, which was originally published in 1956's Our Fighting Forces #12. I recently uncovered the original recordings on a computer scrub, and now am releasing them (untouched) onto the new KSCGSF feed. Back in 2016 I started a short-lived podcast on my original King-Size Comics Giant-Size Fun Podcast feed, titled WAR IS HELL, a podcast devoted to the War Comic Stories published by DC Comics. This first episode was released on June 6th, 2016, the 72nd Anniversary of D-Day and the Allied Invasion of Nazi-controlled French Normandy. To kick off the podcast and note that historic day, I dove into the first installment of Sam Glanzman's "U.S.S Stevens" feature from the Joe Kubert Presents Anthology title. I recently uncovered the original recordings on a computer scrub, and now am releasing them (untouched) onto the new KSCGSF feed. In 1986, Mike Richardson, a comic shop owner in Milwauikie, Oregon launched Dark Horse Comics with the release of the appropriately named Dark Horse Presents, a black and white anthology comic that would change comics forever, and I honestly mean that. Within a few short years, Dark Horse comics would be a force to be reckoned with the comic industry, producing some of the greatest comics the world has ever seen. With mature, compelling stories from some of the greatest comic creators in the world, Dark Horse published an incredible package of graphic storytelling that pushed the comic book medium into new territory. Whether it was licensed properties like Star Wars, RoboCop, Aliens, Predator, and the Terminator. Or creator owned comics from comic legends like Paul Chadwick’s Concrete, John Byrne’s Next Men, Frank Miller’s Sin City, Mike Mignola’s Hellboy, Mike Baron & Steve Rude’s Nexus, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo, or Eric Powell’s Goon. Dark Horse comics produced the best comic books on the racks. And so I'm here to celebrate that rich 35 year comic publishing history in podcast form! Welcome to another episode of Dark Horse Presents, the podcast that celebrates Dark Horse’s 35 rich years of publishing comics here on the KSCGSF feed.
