While the last three issues of Captain America and the Falcon we looked at were rather underwhelming, issues 209 to 211 give us all the kooky science fiction and Kirby Crackle we could want! The appearance of Arnim Zola, in his first face-off with Cap, has revitalized the story. But Falcon seems shunted off to … Continue reading #845 Jack Kirby's “Cap and Falcon” 209-211: An Uncle Sam Person
We're back! Welll, I mean, we weren't like, gone, really, just not releasing shows. We released a show! And it's a part one of two, so that means we will have released two shows! Nothing will stop us now! One Halloween, long ago, one of our Crossover episodes got religion. Or rather, the discussion about the comic that we were covering with guests Tim Price and Sean, Podcast Host and Man of Knowledge, turned to that topic without having been planned that way, and we wound up having an informative and extremely interesting discussion. You can listen to that here: https://marriedwcomics.libsyn.com/mephisto-vs-the-podcasters-three-god-dracula-and-everything-else It was well-received by our listeners and we were complimented on how civil and non-jujdemental we came across. Since this surprised us as much as anyone, we thought we'd have them on again for a (slightly) more structured discussion. In part one, we cover the Fantastic Four: Hereafter arc, and talk about death and resurrection in comics, how aspects of the story come across when filtered through the lenses of different faiths (Including how one story element is technically blasphemous for different reasons for different religions, but only if you're really really trying to see it that way. In Part 2, we will have a no-questions forbidden roundtable on religion, in which we compare and contrast dogma, talk about how each of our religions thinks about the other ones, and all sorts of other things that you'd think would have led to huge arguments, but didn't! We decided to split this episode, both due to the time, and content: part one is more comics focused and part two is more religion focused. This will allow people that are not interested in one or the other topic the opportunity to focus on the one they want. After both are published, we may publish one that includes both, for all you completists out there. Here's one of Sean's shows: https://fireandwaterpodcast.com/show/wonderwoman/ Here are Tim's: Www.thehuntresspodcast.com

The discussion examines why having "a million monsters" often creates noise rather than signal, and explores how constraint and focus can lead to more impactful creative projects. The episode draws from the tension between Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Marvel Comics history to illustrate the difference between creative execution and editorial vision. It explores how the elevator pitch mentality from Hollywood applies to personal artistic projects, using Star Wars as an example of how one clear core idea can anchor an entire universe. The argument centers on the principle that artistic projects need a single, easily communicable hook that people can understand and share, rather than an overwhelming collection of interesting elements.—Chapters00:00 Intro01:06 Welcome02:23 The Million Monster Problem06:11 Why Clear Signal Beats Creative Chaos16:29 The Stan Lee vs Jack Kirby Lesson28:52 Pick One Idea and Go Deeper35:40 The Analytical Takeaway37:41 The Simple Takeaway37:48 The Practical Takeaway40:39 The Philosophical Takeaway44:11 Outro—The Visual Scholar Podcast is designed to help you demystify the world of Art, Productivity, and Creativity. Wir sprechen u.a. Yo mismo lo he hecho.

Join host Logan Janis on Mostly Superheroes the Podcast as he preps us for Marvel's new film, ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps', coming to theaters on July 25, 2025. Catch the Screen & Social at Alamo Drafthouse St. Louis. Film Overview Fantastic Four: First Steps updates the origin of Marvel's first family, combining retro-futuristic visuals with a modern take on cosmic threats and familial dynamics—all under the visionary direction of Matt Shakman. Fantastic Four in Media Here's the list of Fantastic Four titles in order by year: Fantastic Four #1 – Comic Book (1961) Fantastic Four (Hanna-Barbera) – Animated Television Series (1967) Fantastic Four (70s Unproduced Cinema Feature) – Unproduced TV Pilot (~1978) Fantastic Four (Jessica Alba Film) – Live-Action Film (2005) Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – Live-Action Film (2007) Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes – Animated Television Series (2006) Fantastic Four (Reboot) – Live-Action Film (2015) Origin & Enduring Appeal Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Fantastic Four first shocked readers with a unique origin—a crew gaining powers via cosmic rays during an unauthorized space flight. Their genuine human flaws, family bonds, and scientific wonder have kept fans intrigued for decades. Why Studios Are Committed Studios see unmatched narrative depth in the Fantastic Four. Their blend of family drama with larger-than-life challenges makes their story a rich canvas, one that promises both nostalgic appeal and fresh, character-driven action on the big screen. Our Prediction With Marvel's renewed focus and Shakman at the helm, First Steps is set to balance respect for lore with innovative storytelling. Expect a film that honors the past while boldly reimagining the team for today's audience. Marvel is bringing a fresh twist to its storytelling strategy by officially connecting its comics to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Announced today, The Fantastic Four: First Steps #1 will serve as a direct prequel to the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, giving fans a look at the team's earliest days before they hit the big screen next year.Set four years before the film's events, First Steps is penned by acclaimed writer Matt Fraction (Hawkeye) and illustrated by Mark Buckingham (Fables). The one-shot promises to dive into the Fantastic Four's first mission, offering a grounded look at how Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm became the world's most famous superhero family. One of the standout elements is the comic's cover, crafted by Phil Noto, which pays tribute to the iconic 1961 debut of the Fantastic Four by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It is a respectful nod to the team's rich comic book legacy while also establishing them firmly within the MCU's expanding canon. While Marvel has occasionally released tie-in comics for past MCU films, First Steps feels like a bigger step toward fully fleshing out the universe between movie releases. Matt Fraction even teased in a statement that this project could be “the start of something big,” hinting that more MCU-connected comics might be on the horizon. With the Fantastic Four film expected to largely skip over the team's traditional origin story, this comic fills an important gap for fans eager to see how Marvel's First Family got their start in this new cinematic timeline. The Fantastic Four: First Steps #1 hits comic book shops on July 2, 2025, just weeks ahead of the movie's release.
