Welcome to MCOC Podcast. Marysville Church of Christ is a community for those who are looking for community. Whoever you are and wherever you are in your life, we want you to live it with us. This is your place for life changing messages in our weekly “Teachings,” Spiritual Conversations in our weekly “Commute”, Question and Answers in our Weekly “20 Questions,” and occasional panels in our “Board of Directors” episodes. I hope you find what you are looking for and I hope you find it with us!
In this series we will be exploring the history of the Church. We will look at the people, moments, and events that shaped us today, and the way it challenges our beliefs even today.
When we really think about spending time with the people with whom we are close, we often think of times of restful pleasures. The friends with whom I go on the annual trout fishing trip share a comfort and ease with one another that is reflective of the slow-paced and energy-replenishing activity of fishing. Would it surprise you to see that Jesus treasured “down time” with His friends and looked forward to getting away with them for some rejuvenation?
In this installment of our new sermon series, "Jesus Said WHAT?" We explore the clever, challenging, and sometimes hilarious teachings of Jesus, as we continue to see our Savior in a new light.
We all experience situations of distress: times of suffering, guilt, and sin, and even feeling like God is absent. These psalms give us permission to name these realities before God, and they move us from request, through honest complaint, confession, or assertions of innocence, to statements of trust and hopefulness. They challenge us to honesty with God and one another in the midst of our brokenness.
In this sermon, Bishop explores what it means to truly know God. Using the ascension of Moses on Sinai, he challenges us to bravely move through the darkness to find the true light of Christ.

In this episode, Bishop continues the sermon on "Angry Red Letters" of Jesus, by exploring the challenge of why He was so angry. We wrestle with our own "insiderness" and what Church really is all about.
In this introductory sermon to our new series, Jeff explores the question, "What makes Jesus Angry?" This series is not an external one, but a vulnerable internal one, as we are inviting Christ to point out in us the areas where we need to grow and change. Are we truly living like Christ, or are we simply claiming him? Join us in this lesson as we allow the words of Christ to stand as a test and challenge to us all!
In the second installment of the "Under the Shade Tree" series, Bishop guides us through a tree that stands as an impossiible hope for us all. One singular tree that perfectly incapsulates the invasive and persuasive power of hope.
In the first installement of our "Under the Shade Tree" series, Jeff leads us through an orchard of sycamore figs with a farmer who would change the world forever. We are challenged by this farmer's example, and the trees that he watched over.

In this class, we begin to apply all of the things we have learned, by exploring the Genesis 1 creation narrative. We explore the historical and literary threads that give way to important theological truths the story wishes to share. In this podcast, we will be continuing our De Principiis class, by exploring what the Bible is designed to do (and not do) and challenging our conception of what we should expect from the Bible. What if we were doing the Bible more harm then good by trying to shove it in the 21st century? How do we avoid the trap of missing out on the beauty of the story it is trying to tell?
In this sermon, Jeff continues our exploration of the Masterpiece that is Romans 8. This time by exploring the theme of Exodus, and its core teachings on both Adoption and Redemption. Join us for a message filled with hope- echoing from 5,000 years ago.
