In this episode I speak with Nick Rosen, also known as Sloane. We discussed a variety of mental health topics but put a big focus around Depression and Managing Expectations. We thought this would be a great episode to kick off with and evaluate our own personal battles with depression. Nick was very open about his recent struggles with his mental health, including detailing a time when he was contemplating suicide and called the Suicide Prevention Hotline. Let that sink in… at 10 years old we are losing today's youth to suicide. 46% of people that die by suicide have a diagnosed mental health condition, and 90% of people who die by suicide have experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Through the Musicians For Mental Health podcast we hope to raise awareness around the topic and help fans to understand that they are not alone in their battles, that it is ok to talk about, and that it is ok to seek help. While we are not licensed counselors or therapists we will give our perspective on mental health through the life experiences we have had, and will allow the artists to do the same.
