My Favourite Takeaway is the brand new food and comedy podcast series hosted by comedian and takeaway addict Tom Craine (Drunk History, Russell Howard’s Good News, Last Leg: Correspondents), and his similarly food obsessed friend Cimran Shah. Each week our hosts will head into the home of a celebrity guest, to share their favourite takeaway with them… EXACTLY as they’d normally have it! From Peruvian street food slouched on James Acaster’s huge L-Shaped sofa, to an Antiguan feast on Andi Oliver’s best bone china, via a hushed Indian Takeaway in Tom Allen’s back garden (“the neighbours kid goes to sleep at 8, sorry!â€), My Favourite Takeaway is the show for anyone who loves food, but can’t always be bothered to cook it! Each meal will provide a chance to share hilarious food stories, reveal tales of takeaway disasters (“there was a footprint baked into the f***ing pizza!â€), gain unique insights into the guests lives (through the medium of takeaways!) and come clean about embarrassing takeaway truths. Because let’s face it: we all have them! Perhaps you’re a dip hoarder, a massive over-orderer or a reluctant sharer? Does the thickness of a prawn cracker keep you awake at night? Maybe you agree with Josh Widdicombe when he says “only idiots order rice with a curryâ€? Or have you ever rummaged in the bin to see if your partner has “missed a bitâ€? (Ellie Taylor has!). And best of all: it’ll be a chance to shed light on some of the best independent takeaways the UK has to offer... and exactly which dishes you should be making it your mission to try. Series 1 of My Favourite Takeaway launches soon and guests include… Andi Oliver, Josh Widdicombe, Ed Gamble, Tom Allen, Ellie Taylor, Phil Wang, Dr Annie Gray, Big Has, and James Acaster! Tom Craine is a comedian and writer whose current Radio 4 sitcom ‘ReincarNathan’ was nominated for two ARIA Awards and a BBC Audio Drama Award. Cimran Shah is a BAFTA nominated TV producer, who has produced shows such as The Last Leg and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. All enquiries: hello@keepitlightmedia.com
Much to Tom's satisfaction, our latest guest gets down and dirty with some fried chicken, as comedian Ben Clark orders a 'three piece' and fries from the wonderfully named Favourable Chicken. Ben is one third of the award winning sketch group, Pappy's, who also have a range of podcasts under the banner of Pappy's Flatshare. Ben was great company, reflecting upon his time as a McDonald's employee, being sacked from a pizza parlour for mistaking mixed herbs for garlic and ordering sushi in Hastings which turned up in London. If you want to know the weirdest thing that anyone has ever done with an egg - an we suspect that's a competitive field - you need to listen to Tom and Cim's conversation with the wonderful Stevie Martin. Someone likes nuggets (and tea), and that person is the wonderful comedian, Jake Lambert. Jake's obsession with those battered balls of chickeny goodness is, to say the least, extraordinary, as are his breakfast habits, which have in the past seen him combine 4 different types of cereal and a rusk. Jake ordered from Neat Burger, though as has become the way on this podcast, his food did not arrive on time ...Please rate, review and subscribe.Email: HELLO@MYFAVOURITETAKEAWAYPODCAST.COMTwitter: @FavtakeawaypodInstagram: myfavouritetakeawaypodcast Hosted on Acast. Our guest this week is broadcaster Lauren Layfield, who fully embraces the ethos of the podcast with tales of bizarre curry combinations, food ratios, a quirky approach to Big Macs and her gluttenous love of food served in buckets. She orders from KFC, and gets properly stuck in with her dog - which Cimran inexplicably mistakes for a cat ... You can hear Lauren on Capital Radio's early breakfast show between 4-6am every weekday, and her debut young adult novel Indi Ray Is Totally Faking It will be out soon. Thanks for listening. In a genuinely hilarious episode, Seann Walsh discusses his foibles when it comes to takeaways as he reluctantly eats a meal from Raj Of India during a self-imposed curry ban. He recounts tales of becoming a human bin, his struggles with misophonia, crying in a Spa during a period of self-loathing, and driving away from a McDonald's drive-thru having forgotten to collect his food. Tom and Cim also discuss the merits of touch screen ordering in fast food joints. Enjoy! Thanks for listening. What an absolute thrill it was for Tom and Cim to spend the afternoon in the company of Michelin-starred chef, Atul Kochhar, at Kanishka, his restaurant in Mayfair. We loved welcoming Dr Ranjit Singh (aka TV doctor Dr Ranj) to My Favourite Takeaway - not least because Cimran reckons he orders the best selection of Indian dishes we've ever had on the show from Dishoom in Manchester. Among the topics for discussion: fake fire, hospital food, falling asleep with chicken nuggets on one's lap, and the merits of creating your very own version of fusion cuisine by getting deliveries from two different restaurants! Tom and Cim are in clover this week, as one of their idols, Ken Hom, joins them from his home in Bangkok. Ken nipped out to one of the food stalls outside his apartment before the chat, and settled in with a whisky to discuss his love of modern British cuisine, the joys of fish and chips, the dish he's providing for the King's coronation, and the special treatment he gives his home-delivered pizza.
