In this episode of Whiskey Rocks, we sit down with Tom Gray, co-founder of River Roots Distillery, and Tim Harnett, their National Brand Ambassador, to explore the art of crafting exceptional spirits through thoughtful sourcing.Unlike traditional distilleries, River Roots takes a different approach, focusing on curating high-quality sourced whiskey that reflects their unique vision. Tom walks us through how they carefully select their whiskey partners, ensuring the highest standards of flavor and quality. Tim dives into their approach to marketing, their logo design process and creating unique bottle designs. We also chat about the challenges and opportunities of being a non-distilling producer, their commitment to transparency (as much as is allowed) and the importance of building trust with their customers. And as always, we pair their bold and complex flavors with the perfect playlist to elevate your tasting experience.Pour yourself a glass and join us for a conversation that proves great whiskey is just as much about the choices you make as the whiskey itself. For more info on River Roots visit: https://www.riverrootsbarrelco.com/And if you could, help us out. And that's the premise behind River Roots Barrel Co, an intimate tasting room and storehouse of curated spirits, including some of the best whiskey, bourbon and rye you'll find in the US. Inspired by a love for whiskey and seeing the need for a high-quality Midwest brand, the group set out on a journey to find the best spirits in the world to satisfy any whiskey enthusiast's palate. River Roots Barrel Company started just one year ago and they've already managed to generate a lot of hype and attention in the bourbon community. For this episode, we hang with co-founders of River Roots, Ryan Lintz and Tom Gray. Everyone involved with River Roots has connections to Cleveland, Ohio, which home base for this up and coming bourbon brand. Ryan and Tom have different backgrounds, but their love of whiskey brought them together and they aspire to find the best spirits in the world to satisfy any whiskey enthusiast's palate. We were delighted that Cam Leach (Drums & Drams) stuck around for this episode. Not only did we enjoy learning about River Roots, but we had a really good time in the process. Anthony couldn't contain his excitement about finally getting to meet Bourbon Buddy and Kenny made sure that we had a lot of good pours. River Roots is a bourbon company that you might not be familiar with right now, but you are definitely going to want to pay attention to all the amazing stuff they are doing. This week I sat down with Tom Gray from Rocky River Brewing Company. Tom has a quite the brewing history, and he shared stories of his past adventures that included some stops at some amazing breweries along the way. Rocky River Brewing has been around since 1998 and during that time they have only had three brewers. We drank some fantastic beer during the visit, and the plan was to eat some of the great food at RRBC, but the weather had something else to say about that. Halfway through the interview a windstorm knocked out power at the brewery, which dashed my lunch plans. Thankfully my computer powered my soundboard, and we were able to finish the interview. During the interview we drank some fantastic beers including: ·       Pirate Light– Kolsch 5.2% ·       Hazy Bones – NEIPA: 8% ·       Subchaser – Hefeweizen 4.3% ·       Strangeways – IPA 6.0% Support the show by doing your Amazon shopping through our affiliate link. The revolution of souls and society so desperately needed today will require us to do things differently, aka learn new things and new ways. Can we? YES! Can the US Men's National Team ever win the World Cup? The answer is and has to be “yes”. Our some day World Cup championship depends on us learning a sport that isn't/wasn't our native language. Similarly, the revolution of your soul will depend on you learning God and His ways even if you weren't raised being taught about Him. You can do it. Don't doubt or be afraid, just get the process started. Who would have ever thought that Argentina would win the men's basketball Olympic gold medal, like they did in 2004? Well, if you're ready to not just sit back and believe whatever the culture you live in feeds you by osmosis, and if you're ready to take the reins of determining what you believe intentionally, here we go. At the center of any belief system, we need to ask four fundamental questions. 1. Where did I/we come from? The question of origin. 2. Why am I here? The question of purpose. 3. What should I do? The question of morality/justice. 4. Where am I going? The question of destiny. As we seek the best answers to those questions, we can analyze the answers that different philosophies and/or religions offer by using two tests. 1. The correspondence test. Does the answer suggested correspond to the world as I can experience/observe it? 2. The coherence test. Do the collective answers given form a coherent whole across all four questions? We have been focusing on clarifying our identity – who are we? Recognizing that no one consistently performs in a manner inconsistent with how they see themselves, we need to make sure we turn to the right source to find the answer(s) to the questions(s) of who we are individually and as a society. As a continuation of the same theme, how we view everything, what we believe about everything, is central to every aspect of our lives. And, like our best source for clarifying our identity, God, I want to suggest/recommend considering belief in God as the starting point of what matters most across our entire approach to life and society.   “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us” – A.W. Our national motto since 1956 has been “In God We Trust”. Our money says it. Our presidents since Reagan have ended speeches saying “God bless America.” Our founding document (the Declaration of Independence) says our country and our rights as its citizens are built on and come from God our Creator. Every successful team and organization must clarify and commit to its collective identity. We as a country, if we're going to turn our downturn into a resurgence must also start there. We need to decide going forward, will we or won't be who we've been? Will we be One Nation Under God or not. It's time for us to make the same commitment President Lincoln called us to in the middle of the Civil War in his Gettysburg Address, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.” The new birth of freedom we know we desperately need today must begin by clarifying our collective identity. Whether you personally believe in God or not, there are practical ways for all of us to affirm our collective commitment to this unifying identity. That is where our podcast begins to lead us today Hit me up with questions or thoughts – email me at http://info@thisstuffmatters.net or text/voice message me at 678-453-6774. The only fully satisfying and reliable source for answering life's foundational question, “Who am I?”, is God. We cannot look inside ourselves for the answer, and we cannot look outside ourselves, unless the look “out” is the look “up” to God. So I guess you could call this outsourcing, “up”sourcing.   Corrie ten Boom – holocaust survivor and major soul/society revolutionary – said, “If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. But if you look at Christ, you'll be at rest.”   Hit me up with questions or thoughts – email me at http://info@thisstuffmatters.net or text/voice message me at 678-453-6774.   You can get your tickets to our next TSM Live event featuring Buck Belue on Wednesday, November 9th at Maggiano's Little Italy Cumberland Mall – 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. here on our website. http://www.thisstuffmatters.net/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

To realize the changes we desperately need, we must begin with clarifying our identity – we must know who we are – both within our individual souls and then ultimately as a society at large.   “You cannot consistently perform in a manner which is inconsistent with the way you see yourself.” – Zig Ziglar   In today's episode, Tom begins to help you clarify the all important answer(s) to the question, “Who am I?”.   Where do you look to help you answer that question? The opinion of others? Your job? A cause you're connected to? Let's make sure we're anchoring to the right source of information when we're clarifying who we are.   VM or text Tom at 678-453-6774.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This episode is the second of a three part interview with Ralph Stokes. Pay attention to the lessons Ralph shares in this episode: notice that facing difficulty and challenge is not only inevitable in life, it is actually indispensable in developing the character of our kind of revolutionaries. There is a great paragraph in the Bible about how we should view our suffering, knowing that the right mindset toward life's most painful moments is actually the key to complete and mature character. It's James 1:1-3 if you want to explore it for yourself.   Ralph is our featured guest at our Next TSM Live Lunch September 14th. In this episode we rally around the truth that We Can Change! In episode 1 we clarified the need for change in our souls and in our society. In this episode we identify the first lie we need to reject on our way to realizing the needed revolution: the lie that we can't change, or that the changes needed are too big for us to successfully tackle. In the same way James Franklin fundamentally changed the core identity and then culture and then win-loss outcomes of the perennial doormat Vanderbilt Commodores, we too can see our lives and the downwardly trending society in which we live turned around. The new identity we'll need to embrace begins by affirming that we can embrace a new identity (we can change). We know our bodies can and do change, why would we believe our souls can't. This episode is a call out to everyone who feels the same way about our society, that something has to change. The natural life-cycle of every organization and nation is to decline after a period of success/prosperity. I believe we as Americans in 2022 collectively feel our downward trajectory. Tom leads a social media-driven campaign, #BrokenRecord which calls for more of the streaming revenue ‘pie' to make its way to artists and songwriters.
