How much would you pay for a number plate?Welcome back to The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Podcast. This week Pippa was on holiday, but you probably can't tell…We kicked off the week with Bastille's frontman Dan, who is doing the lord's work by trying to stop ticket touts, and still loves Leeds even though they're not doing a show there on the tour...Our very own Johnny Vaughan stopped by, god that studio has some memories, to tell us about the origin of his new podcast ‘Bloomin' Legends, and the origin of his infamous bag of shirts! Then we were the first ones laughing when comedian Lou Sanders joined us in the studio. She was worth the wait considering she gave us the low down on her ideal thrupple dynamic…We were very glad to be conscious of our work day when Adam Scott and Dichen Lachman from Serervance came by, NO SPOILERS, but Adam Scott learnt all about Dichen's early career on Neighbours, and we learnt how Adam prepares for all the running scenes in Severance. It's been a cracking week, and these yolks are great too:Captain's weird laughFrothy bevvyDavid Attenborough's superb boobies Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio XWeekdays 6:30am - 10am
Happy Radio Lads! Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!This week Pip is joined by comic and podcaster and friend to us all, JOHN ROBINS!A naturally evolving podcast which goes from subject to subject while remaining focused and sober at all times. It's almost as if the two people being recorded are podcast professionals. What kicks things off though is a very interesting and revealing chat about mental health, considering the potential saturation with the constant pursuit of happiness (and 'optimisation fatigue'). Elsewhere you'll be treated to a rundown of ways John is similar to Pip, separating the Crossfit politics from the actual actions which are - all said and done - body movements, a good chunk on Wordle (so prepare for that if you are done with Wordle!), politics, toxic podcasting, time anxiety and the benefits thereof, and the joy of Lou Sanders! Because almost all of the world's issues can be solved by enjoying Lou Sanders. And Bonnie Prince Billy, which John and many of us (producer Buddy typing this...!) share. A ton to enjoy. Anna's guest this week is the one and only Lou Sanders. Anyone who's seen Lou's live shows, watched her on TV or read her memoir What's That Lady Doing? will know that she doesn't shy away from frankness – it's part of her signature candid style of comedy. But there's a deeper meaning to it as well, as she tells Anna: being honest about difficult situations is how you can get through them. She shares why choosing sobriety was essential, what alternative therapies have brought to her life and why she's starting every morning in the sauna. If you or someone you know is struggling with any of the topics discussed in It Can't Just Be Me, you can find useful resources and support here: https://audioalways.lnk.to/ItcantjustbemeIG.Every Friday Anna, alongside a panel of experts, will be addressing YOUR dilemmas in our brand new episodes ‘It's Not Just You'! No, this episode is not a web error. Instead it contains something else which will make the content servers explode. Yes that's right, it's the return of the Cymru Connection. And amidst such Cymraeg content it's fever pitch. In fact the fervour has led to an Elis on such a high that he makes financial cheques that he might not be able to cash.In other slightly less medium shaking happenings the lovely Lou Sanders joins the boys to offer some sartorial advice. As well as Lou's usual askance approach to the world there's a Petty Inquiry is formed to handle an orthographical issue. Also, when on earth did people start cupping their bits? And is it worse now than ever?To contact the show in digital form it's elisandjohn@bbc.co.uk or 07974 293 022 on WhatsApp.

Loose Ends this week is a masterclass in the many ways human beings find to laugh: the writer and comic Jenny Eclair started her career as a punk performance poet, who created her stage name to chime with the band she joined - Cathy le Creme and the Rumbabas. But as we learn in her new memoir, she knew as a small child called Jenny Hargreaves that she had the "funny bones" required to make her a comedy star. There is little about Ferdia Lennon's debut novel Glorious Exploits that might suggest comedy - its set in 412 BC Sicily, in the years after Athens' failed invasion and tells the story of two locals who get Athenian prisoners of war to stage a production of the play Medea. Yet this book's just won an award for comic writing. Nikki Amuka-Bird is a Bafta-winning actor and her new movie Rumours features a constellation of Hollywood stars. But this comedy-horror-satire features her alongside Cate Blanchett and Charles Dance prat-falling as world leaders at a summit. And stand-up Lou Sanders is about to go on the road with a show called No Kissing In The Bingo Hall, but she's taken diversions via Dancing on Ice and Taskmaster and will be trying not to laugh in series one of Last One Laughing UK next year. With music by Roddy Woomble of Idlewild.Presenter: Clive Anderson Producer: Olive Clancy

Why is Lou Sanders moving to a farm in Portugal? What noise does Lou Sanders make when she snowboards? The answers are all in her Wonderbox, as well as how to have meaningful interactions with a cat. This is one of the most entertaining Wonderboxes to have been filled in a long time. You know who Lou is, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this far; if you're just here as an intrepid explorer of random blocks of text then we salute you, and would urge you just to listen to the first ten minutes of the podcast – you'll quickly get the idea and want more Lou. She's ace. If you've just enjoyed the podcast, give yourself a moment to calm down, then get yourself some more Lou Sanders. Her book ‘What's That Lady Doing' comes out in paperback in July and it's already had many rave reviews… so you should strut down to an independent bookshop and snap it up. Also as she so deftly mentioned in the podcast she's off on tour next year with her brand new stand-up show 'No Kissing in the Bingo Hall' and those tickets are available NOW! For information and tickets you must visit https://www.lousanders.com That is all the words for this hypodermic of Wonderbox. Get back here next week for another hit in the veins. LOOK OUT! It's only Films To Be Buried With! A REWIND CLASSIC! Join your host Brett Goldstein as he talks life, death, love and the universe with show friend, comic, writer, podcaster, every episode namecheck featurer ED GAMBLE! Below will be the original writeup for this episode which originally aired on 6th September 2018. A marvellous episode marking the first appearance of Ed, which would open the door to a further two down the line. This is prime Ed and Brett, and even an appearance from other show pal Lou Sanders who sews a seed for her eventual Cuddle Club podcast! You heard it here first (all the way back in 2018). Thanks for tuning in to the re-appraised archive - we'll be back with the new goodness soon - all is a little chaotic right now but we'll return with all new eps soon as humanly possible. It's me on the intro/outro (your producer Buddy Peace), so don't be alarmed. I mean you no shock or surprise. Video and extra audio available on Brett's Patreon! ––––––––––––––––––––––––– A nice and giddy episode as Brett and Ed join up deep into their respective runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, high off insomnia and crepes, and down for some good time fun and entertainment. It's a bundle of fun for certain but do be warned, there are some elements where some heavy films are referenced - so with that in mind, be prepared for some potentially tough ground in there… ALSO - there are spoilers for Hereditary so watch out for that when they start going in… I'll make a note below on times. Otherwise, this episode has it all! Big men acting as nannies, Hulk Hogan, horror chat, film gossip, just tons of fun for you devour and get dizzy from, like these two. Highly enjoyable - go in!!! Lisa ( Lolly Adefope) and Des ( Fergus Craig) address the issue of equality in football, although judging by some of the calls coming in, there's still a long way to go. Bobby (Ben Bailey-Smith) suggests making it more like Love Island, Derek (Ed Gamble) explains why only the male about the male body can be perfect for football, and Jordan Young ( Tom Rosenthal) returns to express his own unique brand of support for women everywhere. Des riles up a female caller ( Lou Sanders) by saying equal pay in the women's game isn't possible given market forces, though backtracks on the idea once he finds out he's paid less than his co-host. Just squeezing in to January, it's our Best Bits 2023. It was such a blast listening back to the interviews we've had over the last year. It honestly made me want to go back and revisit all of these conversations again in full. So, I hope you enjoy this short dip back into the past. From Alison Spittle, explaining the huge part Morrissey played in her early Crush-life (before he let us all down), to Juliet Cowan sharing my passion for Union Leader Mick Lynch, via Rosie Jones talking about using stand up to help her talk about her sexuality honestly for the first time, and Sali Hughes and Caitlin Moran talking about the love that dare not speak it's name (could you have sexual feelings for a sash window?). And of course my favourite bit from the special anniversary episode with husband of the podcast, Dan Tetsell. A patient, patient, man. We've got some lovely episodes coming up in 2024 - Lou Sanders, Elizabeth Day and Sarah Hadland in the next few weeks, and a special Valentine's Day episode with Isy Suttie for V-Day itself. Stay tuned! (Can you tune a podcast?) And come and join the Substack if you haven't. Even just the free bit, as it means we can send you the occasional email when something super exciting happens. You can also join us there for the subscriber-only ad-free version of the show, if ads aren't your thing. Thanks for listening in 2023. Please keep listening in 2024. Love you! Clean the earwax out of those non-brand earbuds, it's time for another episode of Taskmaster: The People's Podcast! This week Jenny and Jack are making their Series 17 predictions, and guess what? They've brought our beloved Lou Sanders and her Magic 8 Ball back in to help! Jenny once again uses her waters to make her prediction, and Jack uses ever-reliable stats. They also ask question such as: will podcasters do well on the show? Is this the most talented cast of all time? And will Greg be scared of Steve Pemberton? Plus, Jack accidentally pitches Survivor in the form of 'Taskmaster Island' and Jenny pitches an even higher-stakes format about whether or not she'd be able to tolerate being stuck in a lift with various people.Don't worry, Jenny has also done her vintage Taskmaster episode homework, and this time it's all about Tony Three Pies. They talk about why the time was right for Lou to detail the funny (and occasionally shocking and sad) escapades from her life, why it's tricky to write about family and how to get the balance right, why shame is universal and needs to be embraced and accepted in order to move on, how most people are plagued by self-doubt even if they don't look like they are, what Andi Peters did to deserve limited retribution, whether being touched inappropriately by a masseuse is cheating and whether there is more to the Universe than what we can see and if all of us believe in stuff that might not be real in order to get us through life.Buy Lou's book here - https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/what-s-that-lady-doing-false-starts-and-happy-endings-louise-sanders/7447485?ean=9781788708579The RHLSTP tour continues http://richardherring.com/rhlstp Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. Due to factors there was no live show today, but that doesn't mean we were ever going to leave you high and dry without your weekly dose of content. No, we've proven time and time again that nothing can stop us from #creating #content, so strap yourself in for a fast and loose podcast-only version of the Elis James and John Robins show, with special guest presenter (and birthday girl) Lou Sanders! It was an action packed outing today, with plenty of fun for everyone. There's another edition of John's Motorway Musings, Lou shares a BRAND NEW jingle that she's created, Producer Dave describes his favourite type of music and an age-old question about escalators is answered.
John - similar to a comedy version of The Rolling Stones - just doesn't want to stop touring, meaning that for the second week on the bounce he wasn't around for the show. So, with an empty seat next to Elis we needed someone who'd be able to carry the show with a sense of responsibility... a sense of hubris... dare we say a sense of fun? Well, obviously there was only one person for the job: your friend and mine, Lou Sanders! And like a defensive midfielder being brought onto the pitch during injury time she calmed everyone down, took control of the situation and saw out the game. It was a very fun show today; Elis gives a BAFTA worthy performance in DI Robbyns, Lou shares some MASSIVE news (that's actually already out there), Producer Dave gets excited about a Ricky Hatton anecdote and a brand new produce-based radio duo is born! And remember, listener: "Today's radio will eventually become a podcast at some point."

After a month long loan deal expired, Edinburgh returned John Robins. So Robins, free from the Scottish capital's creative buzz and extortionate rental prices returned to the studio... to broadcast to Britain and the world. But today he was not with his companion of norm. With Elis away on a sojourn for Isy's birthday, Lou Sanders filled his boots to a supreme degree. The expert on self herself. And what a breath of fresh electric car air she brought. Meanwhile, John tabled some big stepdad energy, we interact with a spirited antipodean and, in a world first, Dave gets shouted down while reading the rules to a Made Up Game.

You'll no doubt have seen the comedian Lou Sanders on pretty much every tv comedy show; from Live at the Apollo, to 8 out of 10 Cats and she was even champion on Taskmaster. Her memoir "What's that Lady Doing?" charts a life of mistakes with funny look at what happens when we work through our issues and come out the other side. The songs she has chosen to cherish from her past and to pass on to the next generation might surprise you…in fact, they seem to have surprised her! Angela Barnes was brought up on comedy. She and her dad Derek would go to stand-up shows together and when they listened to comedians on the radio he would say “Why don't you have a go at that?, Angela. Why don't you give comedy a try?”. For a long time, she felt she couldn't. But when Derek died suddenly at the age of 60 Angela remembered his words and today she appears on the very shows she used to listen to with her dad. The National Poet of Wales, Hanan Issa, has that wonderful advantage of being able to see the world via a bi-cultural lens; she's Welsh-Iraqi. Hanan's also a filmmaker and scriptwriter and her monologue 'With Her Back Straight' was performed as part of The Hijabi Monologues at the Bush Theatre in London and she worked on the much loved and lauded Channel 4 comedy series We Are Lady Parts. If you watch Britain's Got Talent, the chances are you saw Richard Essien introduce himself as the street magician Magical Bones. His shows combine magic, illusions and street-dance culture and before he fully committed to his magic career, he was a hip-hop dancer working with huge music acts; form The Black-Eyed Peas to Alicia Keys and even private events for Madonna. All that plus The Inheritance Tracks of comedian Lou Sanders - and we join Jason Williams ...In Nature. Presenters: Nikki Bedi and Jon Kay Producer: Ben Mitchell

‘Excitement' was the word on everyone's lips at the BBC today… and for good reason. First, they were excited about the fact that the wonderful Lou Sanders was sitting in for Elis whilst he treated himself to a luxury spa break in Montenegro. Then, the excitement grew even more as John entered the studio looking more buff than ever before. And just when we thought the excitement couldn't grow any more, Producer Dave announced he was off to relive his early 20s by going to see the Arctic Monkeys. And with that, the holy trinity of excitement was sorted, perfectly placed to surf the radio waves. There's a real treat in store for you today, featuring the following audible accoutrements: a listener talking about the time they were outwitted by a pigeon, John channelling his inner local radio presenter, Lou absolutely destroying her co-presenter in a scripted intro, and Producer Dave trying his best to stay balanced in a Made Up Game.
Comedian, podcaster and author Lou Sanders explains her old grudge from an hors d'oeuvres faux pas, tells us why she's not having the increased tourism myth that comes from having a monarchy, and explains why emergency services need to calm their sirens down as they're just a bit too noisy and stressful. Tiff and Lou then get to grips with a listener's problem in Angry Aunt. Produced by Ped Hunter and Chris Skinner. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
