For this episode, we are joined by comedian and one part of the Oh What a Time podcast, Tom Craine, to watch back the first episode of ITV's The Premiership. Part 1 of the podcast came out on Monday, so if you missed it... make sure to go back and listen! We review ITV's brave new world of 7pm starts, scoreboards and fact graphics flanked by Andy Townsend's Tactics Truck. We also get Sunderland manager Peter Reid in what looks like a hostage video, Fabrizio Ravanelli cooking pasta with Derby's Spaghetti Bob and Leeds United's Alan Smith – the first winner of Ally McCoist's Golden Goals - scoring a goal which is probably better than Dennis Bergkamp's v Newcastle. Plus, we dive into your correspondence which includes the TRUTH behind why Wolves were sponsored by Doritos and the first Let's Be Having You Verified confirms an interesting story from Alex's past. If you've got anything at all to contribute, you can email us at: hello@letsbehavingyou.com If you're a member of the QK Fan club - good news! As the QK fan club transitions to LBHY fan club you'll still get access to all the old QK subscriber episodes and you'll be getting monthly special episodes from LBHY as well (which may very well include, Big Ron Manager..) So good night Richard Wright, Chris, Alex and Nick x Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

In this subscriber special for the OWAT Full Timers, we're looking at what people in the past thought the future would be like; and it turned out, that we enjoyed this subject so much it became a two-parter. In Part 1: how people imagined the future at the 1939 World's Fair in New York. I won't ruin it in the description, but I will say this: atomic toasters. Elsewhere, Tom Craine is not impressed by the internet and steps are therefore being taken to turn the internet against him. Any thoughts on this? If yes, send them to: hello@ohwhatatime.com You can also follow us on: X (formerly Twitter) at @ohwhatatimepod And Instagram at @ohwhatatimepod Aaannnd if you like it, why not drop us a review in your podcast app of choice? This is Part 2! For Part 1, check the feed from yesterday! Let's point our ears in the direction of some of the greatest oratory from history, because this week we're discussing: Speeches. Henry V's St Crispin's Day speech (both in fiction and non-fiction), Elizabeth I at Tilbury and the campaigning of John Petts. We found out this week that Tom Craine's favourite speech was performed by THAT guy from Come Dine With Me. Can you name a better speech? This is Part 2! For Part 1, check the feed from yesterday! This week we're talking about unique weather events through history. From the great freeze of 1899 that plunged Miami to sub-zero temperatures, the great storm (in the UK) of 1987 (and how badly Michael Fish got it all BANG WRONG) and of course, the LONG-HOT-SUMMER-OF-NINETEEN-SEVENTY-SIX (which Elis' parents WILL NOT STOP GOING ON ABOUT). Plus there's even more Jeremy Bentham bantz. And if you want to get in touch with the show, you know what to do: hello@ohwhatatime.com And YES! You may have spotted a new numbering system. Well, we haven't gone straight from episode #39 to episode #44 by accident (!), we have in fact retroactively applied episode numbers to old subscriber specials: #40 Heroes (OWAT: Full Timer Edition) #41 Gifts (OWAT: Full Timer Edition) #42 Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll (OWAT: Full Timer Edition) #43 Protests (OWAT: Full Timer Edition) When informed of this, Tom Craine said he felt “absolutely no emotion whatsoever” - but nonetheless, there's the explanation for those who need it. This is a trailer for Elis' new podcast! And if they did, why can't they remember it (or remember anything else, for that matter)? And just when they thought it couldn't get any harder, why didn't anyone warn them about the slices of unmatched euphoric joy and pride that occasionally come piercing through, drenching you in unbridled happiness in much the same way a badly burped baby drenches you in milk-sick?Join Josh and Rob as they share the challenges and madness of their parenting journeys with lashings of empathy and extra helpings of laughs. Filled with all the things they never tell you at antenatal classes, Parenting Hell is a beguiling mixture of humour, rumination and conversation for prospective parents, new parents, old parents and never-to-be parents alike.Find out everything you need to know, including how you could win a pair of tickets to the Parenting Hell LIVE tour & an overnight stay in London here: https://www.bit.ly/ParentingHellBookWe're going on tour!! From Peruvian street food slouched on James Acaster's huge L-Shaped sofa, to an Antiguan feast on Andi Oliver's best bone china, via a hushed Indian Takeaway in Tom Allen's back garden (“the neighbours kid goes to sleep at 8, sorry!”), My Favourite Takeaway is the show for anyone who loves food, but can't always be bothered to cook it!Each meal will provide a chance to share hilarious food stories, reveal tales of takeaway disasters (“there was a footprint baked into the f***ing pizza!”), gain unique insights into the guests lives (through the medium of takeaways!) and come clean about embarrassing takeaway truths. Because let's face it: we all have them! Perhaps you're a dip hoarder, a massive over-orderer or a reluctant sharer? Does the thickness of a prawn cracker keep you awake at night? Maybe you agree with Josh Widdicombe when he says “only idiots order rice with a curry”? Or have you ever rummaged in the bin to see if your partner has “missed a bit”? (Ellie Taylor has!). And best of all: it'll be a chance to shed light on some of the best independent takeaways the UK has to offer... and exactly which dishes you should be making it your mission to try.Series 1 of My Favourite Takeaway guests include… Andi Oliver, Josh Widdicombe, Ed Gamble, Tom Allen, Ellie Taylor, Phil Wang, Dr Annie Gray, Big Has, and James Acaster! My Favourite Takeaway: S1 EP6 - Big HasThis week we are joined by the brilliant chef and presenter, Big Has. He invited us to his home to enjoy his favourite local takeaway from Antepliler in Harringay, North London. Enjoy!BIO:He didn't like school, he tried being a security guard at the Hayward gallery and he gave plumbing a go… but nothing quite got him like cooking. After graduating from Jamie Oliver's 15 program back in 2011 Hasan ( or Big Has as he's most affectionately known) went on to spend the next 10 years in and out of kitchens all over London. Perfecting pasta at Palatino, grilling meats at Sardine, Hasan is half Turkish Cypriot and half proper North Londoner. Recently he is best known for his very successful YouTube series Sunday Sessions which has amassed a great following in a short amount of time having only launched in January 2021. Its all about the food (And some beautiful camera work) as he takes beautiful ingredients and cooks them up in his back garden come rain or shine, served with a side of Has' signature charisma. Please rate and review. Hakuna Matata. It means no worries. Why the random Lion King reference? Well, it'll make sense once you listen to this episode in which Sachin speaks to comedian and writer Tom Craine about his love for Aston Villa. Tom's story is a fascinating one; the boy from Bath who became obsessed with Villa during that most glorious of decades - the 1990s, and followed them with a passion until, well, that passion burned out. There were various reasons for that and ultimately it's left Tom as a football fan with no club to be a fan of. He speaks with great openness about that as well as reflecting on his days following Villa - from the joy of Dwight Yorke to the despair of Savo Milosevic, the latter reaching such a level that Tom and his mates got in trouble at school for celebrating at the oddly precise moment the Serbian left the club. Tom also goes through his all-time 90s Villa XI and, keeping the music theme going, speaks about his favourite Radiohead album. It's quite the episode! So download, listen and love. And after you have, please Rate and Review. It would mean a lot. Cheers!

This week sees the start of our mini-season of high school movies, beginning with the seminal John Hughes film THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985). After some reviews, we talk about how character depth is important to a film about stereotypes, why detention really doesn't work, and whether or not being a teenager is ever about having an ending (this makes sense in context, I promise...). Next Time The next film in our high school season is 1989's DEAD POETS SOCIETY. Recent Media FOR ALL MANKIND (2019): Ronald D. Back in the studio this week is Quickly Kevin regular Tom Craine as we take a look at Terry Smith's failed spell at Chester City in the late 90s. Deploying such tactics as 'regular 442 rules', appointing "three captains" and passing on half time advice such as "they keep putting it in the hole"; Terry (an American who came to the English football league via the NFL) had been accused of not knowing much about football. We took to a Chester City documentary to discover the truth. There's also an update on Man Utd's away hotel room pairings and an amazing new Eddie McGoldrick chant.Twitter: @quicklykevinFacebook: quicklykevinInstagram: quicklykevinEmail: hello@quicklykevinFor your chance to win an exclusive 'Graham Says: Hit Les' Quickly Kevin mug leave us a 90's Football based 'Review Haiku' on iTunes!!Thanks,Chris, Josh and Michael. Our guest this week is friend of the show, comedian and writer Tom Craine. The subject of discussion is the 1997 Peterborough documentary 'There's Only One Barry Fry'. The documentary features the fall and fall of Peterborough in their relegation season of 1996/97 against the backdrop of 'big personality' Barry Fry's new leadership as manager and, sort-of, chairman.Plus there's news on a John Wark fan club nowhere near Ipswich and the social media goings of Mark Kennedy. As Series 1 slams to a close, we're delighted to be bringing you the first of what will eventually be a series ending tradition: The Quickly Kevin 90s football quiz. The team taking on Josh and Chris for 'the ashes of 90s football' (a burnt packet of football stickers) are friends of the show; want-away Aston Villa fan and comedian Tom Craine and Wales and Swansea's favourite funny son Ellis James. Through a range of incredibly niche questions, two teams battle for the ultimate prize; some pogs, a mug adorned with the face of a QKWHS icon and bragging rights that should see the winners through the summer. We'll be taking a break after this, but don't forget to stay in touch by signing up to our mailing list at: QuicklyKevin.com See you soon! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The Impossible Job is simply the greatest ever documentary about football (excluding Danny Baker’s Own Goals and Gaffs 2). This week we sat down with comedian Tom Craine (writer of Josh and the excellent new BBC3 series Climaxed) to discuss what it was like to rewatch it 23 years on.
