RHOW Brooklyn

Join us this Sunday Hey family, last week was incredible--Good Friday and Easter Sunday, packed house, and such a beautiful time together. This week, I'm looking forward to gathering again as we open the Scriptures and lean into what God wants to say to us. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. in downtown Brooklyn. Our kids' church also meets at 10 for kids ages 5-12. Don't miss it! Can't wait to see you. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS: * A New Life in Christ class--3 weeks, leads to baptism and membership. Starts Sunday, May 3, immediately after service.

You don't have to walk this alone. Hey family, what if church wasn’t just a service, but a place of real connection? What if needs were noticed? What if prayer was normal? What if people stayed after the service because relationships actually mattered? So many of us are surrounded by people yet still long to be seen, heard, and understood. The good news is that God’s design for the church was never intended to be a weekly event; it was always meant to be a community. This Sunday, Pastor Chris will speak honestly about loneliness and the kind of church God designed from the very beginning. If you have been feeling disconnected, overlooked, or unseen, we invite you to join us. We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St., and Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS: Palm Sunday, March 28, 10 a.m. Good Friday, April 3--Doors open 5:30 p.m., service 6 p.m., dinner to follow Easter Sunday, April 5, 10 a.m.

Hey family, this Sunday we'll be looking at the powerful truth that we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The Apostle Paul writes that it's possible to have passion and zeal for God, yet still miss the righteousness that only God can provide. We'll explore the danger of trying to establish our own righteousness...and the good news that salvation is not something we achieve through our own efforts. Our speaker will be Rob Lambert, and I hope to see you with us at 360 Schermerhorn, 10 a.m. on Sunday! Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well.--Edwin IMPORTANT: Take public transportation if at all possible to avoid the Brooklyn Half Marathon, which will snarl car traffic in our vicinity.

Your romantic relationships matter--plus Daylight Savings Time Hey family, someone once said that one of the key ways to invite heaven into your life is to marry the right person, and one of the key ways to invite hell into your life is to marry the wrong one. The speaker wasn't using "heaven" and "hell" in a theological sense, but nevertheless they were getting across a powerful point. Being with the wrong person is painful, and not knowing how to navigate relational dynamics can be really painful. Last week we talked about what the Bible says about being a wife. This week we're going to talk to the men and ask them to man up. We have some great instruction for the men about being better husbands--and for the women who listen in, it will help in being better wives. Bring a friend! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church begins at 10 a.m. as well. Announcements * Daylight Savings Time begins tomorrow! Don't forget to move your clocks an hour later before you go to bed tonight.

Hey family, many of us stopped going to church when we were younger because of that very perception--church folks stink. And in many cases, the church deserves it. We've been dysfunctional or we've hurt each other. And as a result, many of us have just recently started to come around again. In our current series in the Book of Colossians, we're learning how the new identity we gain as part of the family of Christ affects everything in our lives. In the next few weeks we're going to talk about what it means to relate to our spouses, our kids, our work, our friends as part of our new identity. You don't want to miss it. (If you do miss a service, catch up on our YouTube channel. Here's the link.) We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn St. Children's Church for kids ages 4-12 meets at 10 a.m. as well. --Edwin Important announcement: There will be an important congregational meeting immediately after service on Sunday, March 1. If you care about the future of this church, please plan to join us on that day. Thank you!

Hey family, every now and again, when churches work together, they have an opportunity to be able to influence each other and help each other grow in the kingdom of God. That's been happening with our church, and tomorrow morning it's happening in an interesting way. We're having a pulpit swap. Pulpit swap is when a pastor comes from another church and I go to their church and they preach in our church and I preach in their church, and we hope that all the people are blessed as a result. So this Sunday we want to welcome David Lee, pastor of First Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn. We're excited to have him at our church, and I'm excited to go preach at his church. Please come! Bring and friend and hear the gospel! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn in downtown Brooklyn. Kids' church starts at 10 a.m. as well for children ages 4-12. --Edwin

What every healthy relationship needs Hey family, there's something that every healthy relationship needs--that if it doesn't have, everything crumbles and falls apart. If this component doesn't exist in your relationship, you can know that you are either on the road to breakup, or in for a really long and painful journey. What is this component? Forgiveness. This week we're going to talk about what it means to forgive in the family of God, and how that overflows and translates into our relationships. No matter what happens, we're going to need to be forgiven, we're going to need to forgive. Let's learn how to do that together. Bring your family, bring a friend, bring your dog! (Well, maybe not your dog.) We meet at 10 a.m. Sundays at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. as well for children 4-12. Hey family, there's a famous song that goes, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world." Barbra Streisand reached #1 on the Billboard chart with those lyrics, and the song became a cultural phenomenon. And Barbra was right. We all need other people. The problem is that when we come into Christian community, we bring with us our own biases and struggles, family issues, and all of that. How can we get along better with our spouses, our family, our church family? Coming this Sunday, we're going to talk about the importance of community and how the Bible instructs us to get along. We meet at 10 am at 360 Schermerhorn St.--bring your kids and grandkids! Children's Church starts at 10 a.m. as well. And if you missed last week's message, here's a link. Hey family, perhaps you've heard one of those wonderful fairy tales where a peasant girl finds out that she's actually the princess of the kingdom. The job of her caregivers is to teach her to walk like a princess, speak like a princess, act like a princess in every way. It's just the same when we're called by the King and adopted into the family of God. In this new family God gives us his Spirit and new life and forgiveness of sins and then he trains us and teaches us and encourages us to be who we are: sons and daughters of the Most High God. This week we're going to talk about how this powerful truth affects every area of our lives. I hope to see you Sunday. We meet at 360 Schermerhorn St. in downtown Brooklyn. Bring a friend, bring your family, bring your kids! Children's Church starts at 10 a.m. also. And don't forget--you never need to miss a sermon again. Hey family, tomorrow's message will be from the book of Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament. You may never have dipped into this scripture, but on Sunday you will learn how powerful it is. The prophet Malachi delivers a message from God about hope and judgment--how God promises judgment for the wicked but also restoration and blessings for those who fear the Lord. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Walt Quick of Hope Church. After the service, there will be an important congregational meeting about the future of our church. If you are a member, it's so important that you attend that meeting and cast your vote. I look forward to seeing you at 10 a.m. Children's Church will start at 10 as well. --Edwin

When pride rears its ugly head... Hey family, this Sunday, Pastor Rob Lambert will be speaking on the rise and fall of King Solomon, whose rule began with a great gift from the Lord but who eventually turned away from God and fell into pride, idolatry, and disobedience. The message reminds us that God gives grace to the humble, and that pride often shows itself long before everything falls apart. Bring a friend to hear this important message! We meet at 10 a.m. at 360 Schermerhorn in downtown Brooklyn. Kids' Church for ages 5-12 also meets at 10 a.m. I hope to see you there! --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS: Sunday, January 11--Important congregational meeting immediately after service. Hey family, this Sunday is our final service of 2025. Pastor Chris will share a powerful and deeply personal message from 2 Corinthians 5:1–5—a passage that speaks to loss, longing, and the hope of something more. In a world that feels increasingly fragile, this message reminds us that life is temporary, but God’s promises are not. Whether you’re full of faith, full of questions, or somewhere in between, this is a Sunday you won’t want to miss. We will also celebrate a baptism! A powerful picture of grace, new life, and the hope that anchors us as we step into a new year together. Invite a friend. Kids' Church for children ages 5-12 meets at 10 am also. --Edwin

Hey family, this is the beautiful Christmas season, where we get to celebrate the fact that God came to earth in human flesh. But if we're not careful, we'll be distracted by the man in the red hat and the big beard, we'll get caught up in buying gifts and having to pay for them later and all the other materialism that has come to surround Christmas day. here are so many things to be thankful for as we walk in Christ. So many blessings, the joy and the love that he gives even in the midst of difficult times. Hey family, I don’t know about you, but I often find myself trying to improve everything--my habits, my health, my finances, my relationships. There’s always another thing to fix, another area to make better. But for all the things we try to improve, there’s one thing that doesn’t need improving at all and that’s Jesus. This Sunday, we’ll look honestly at why we keep reaching for something more and how that search reveals a deeper need in all of us. Join us as we face this very real struggle together and discover what happens when we find our fullness in Jesus. We meet at 10 a.m. on Sunday at 360 Schermerhorn St. Kids' Church for children ages 5-12 also starts at 10. --Edwin Announcements: Thanksgiving community dinner--Join us on Thursday, Nov. 27, as we welcome our neighbors to share Thanksgiving at Next Step Community Church. Hey family, do you remember the Fonz? He was the coolest guy on TV. And the cool was his identity. As for Urkel, he was the ultimate nerd, from his suspenders to his giant glasses. What they had in common is that each one had something defining and directing their lives and their choices. This week we're hoping to give everyone their own glasses--lenses by which to see the world. As we continue in our series on Colossians, we're going to investigate a beautiful prayer that puts our entire lives in focus and shows us how to worship Christ. I look forward to seeing you at 10 a.m. Sunday at 360 Schermerhorn St. Please invite a friend! Kids' Church starts at 10 a.m. also, for children ages 5-12. --Edwin Announcements: Saturday, Nov. 1--Marathon Eve service. Sunday, Nov. 2, is the New York City Marathon. To avoid the traffic that always makes getting to church so complicated on that day, we will be having our annual Marathon Eve service on Saturday evening! Doors open at 5:30, service starts at 6, followed by a Volunteer Appreciation dinner to celebrate all the people who make our ministries successful. Come on Saturday evening, then stay home on Sunday. Daylight savings ends--Sunday, Nov. 2. We will not hold an official service that morning. Hey family, do you remember the Fonz? He was the coolest guy on TV. And the cool was his identity. As for Urkel, he was the ultimate nerd, from his suspenders to his giant glasses. Hey family--and yes, I mean family. There's no such thing as the Lone Christian. Part of being a follower of Christ is joining with others in worshiping, hearing the word of God, praying, confessing, and more. We share joyful times together, and sometimes we mourn together. Scripture tells us to never stop meeting together. So join us this Sunday at 10 a.m., 360 Schermerhorn St. Our guest speaker will be Pastor John Fils-Aime. Kids' Church begins at 10 a.m. also, for children ages 5-12. --Edwin ANNOUNCEMENTS MARATHON EVE SERVICE, Saturday, Nov. 1, 6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30). Because the New York City Marathon takes place on Sunday, Nov. 2, making it so difficult to attend church, our service will be held the night before. Join us for a special evening!
