In 2011, a young Czech dared to follow in the footsteps of her tennis hero, stepping out as a Wimbledon finalist just five years after discovering she was quite good at tennis. Opting to do all the talking with her racquet, Wimbledon was where it all started for a relatively unknown, Petra Kvitová, but there was much more to come... Ten years on and Kvitova is beloved by tennis, not simply for her dominant displays on court, but the way she has overcome all the odds off it, too. A horrendous incident that almost robbed Petra of her life, and very nearly ended her career, tested her metal in a way that Grand Slam finals never could.  In this episode, we retrace Kvitová's steps, from a small-town girl practising with her father in school sports halls, to stunning the world by winning two Wimbledon titles in the most extraordinary fashion. We also dig a little deeper, and get to know the woman who has emerged from a ten-year journey that has been anything but smooth. Join us for a story of raw power, remarkable resilience and dogged determination; a story of triumph against all odds. With special thanks to Petra Kvitová, Jiří Vaněk, Katie Spellman, Courtney Nguyen, Barbora Strycova, Martina Navratilova, Australian Open

When Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe met in the 1980 Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Singles Final, they contested a match heard around the globe. From the thousands cramped inside Centre Court to a lone figure hunched over a radio in a prison cell on Robben Island, sports fans in all corners of the world were gripped. Then again, this was so much more than a tennis match. It was a clash of cultures, personalities and styles on a stage fit for two kings. In our latest episode, we explore tennis' original fire and ice and the very society their rivalry was reflecting. Join the conversation across social media using #JoinTheStory. In one remarkable summer, Billie Jean King reshaped the future of not just women’s tennis but women’s sport. A champion on the court, her career coincided with the revival of feminism and they went hand in hand. This was never more evident than in 1973 when in between forming the Women’s Tennis Association and beating Bobby Riggs in the Battle of The Sexes, she became the first and only player in the Open Era to win Wimbledon’s Triple Crown.  Join the conversation across social media using #JoinTheStory.
