#1452 Whisper – Let Me Bore You To Sleep (3rd October 2025) Early-morning, soft-spoken ramble to lull you back to sleep. Jason wakes before dawn, checks stats and emails, and chats about Vinnie's unexpectedly cuddly mood, late-night noises outside, and nostalgic detours—from John McEnroe's fame to TV memories. There's gentle background life stuff (sound-dampening curtains, a squeaky desk, chilly mornings), a light skim of entertainment chatter, and the usual soothing sign-off to be kind to yourself. Perfect for nodding off. Timestamps 00:00–01:00 Quiet intro; woke up early, Vinnie's up too. 01:03–02:00 Vinnie sits at Jason's feet (rare for this early). 07:51–10:10 Sweet moment: Vinnie naps with his chin on Jason's thigh. 14:53–16:05 Woken in the night by shouting/banging outside. 16:05–21:07 John McEnroe memories and how his tantrums made tennis “exciting.” 22:06–23:02 Sound-dampening curtains & hoping for quieter winter nights. 34:49–38:34 Celebrity Big Brother 2024 chatter; Sharon Osbourne as “celebrity lodger.” 40:06–41:11 Light headline skimming; mentions a music-producer relationship item. 45:52–47:36 Today's plan: breakfast, TV, possible nap, later Q&A Friday. 48:03–48:51 Sleepy, kind sign-off: “Be gentle with yourself… you deserve to be happy.”

Apparently, some numpty thinks we introverts cannot be cool. And worse still, they said it to a huge audience as if it were fact. Cue my John McEnroe moment: you cannot be serious. In this episode I call out the lazy research, the extraversion bias and the sloppy definitions that keep throwing we introverts into the uncool bucket. I also share what I believe really makes people cool and why it has nothing to do with status or noise. It is about being real, a little brave, and unapologetically yourself. So if you have ever been made to feel less than simply for being quieter, come with me as we reclaim the narrative. Maybe, just maybe, that is the new cool.   ** Key Points ** Extraversion bias exposed Redefining cool Owning authenticity   #AuthenticityIsCool #Introverts #FlourishingIntroverts   *** Resources *** Visit https://hub.flourishingintroverts.com/resourcesp for tools and resources mentioned during the podcast.

How do you transform unimaginable grief into a legacy of hope? Tim Siegel's journey from professional tennis courts to hospital rooms to nationwide advocacy offers a profound answer. After competing against tennis legends like John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl and coaching college tennis for 25 years, Tim made a pivotal decision in July 2015 to step down from his position at Texas Tech to spend more time with his children. Just twenty days later, his nine-year-old son Luke suffered a catastrophic brain injury in a golf cart accident."We were told Luke would never use his limbs, use his voice, or open his eyes," Tim shares with raw honesty. "But I always knew he would do more." For six years, Tim became Luke's primary caregiver, witnessing progress that defied medical expectations until Luke's passing from COVID in August 2021.From this devastating loss emerged Team Luke Hope for Minds, a foundation that has granted over half a million dollars annually to families of children with brain injuries. The organization provides financial assistance, education, support groups, and an annual conference that brings families together from across the country. What makes Tim's story even more remarkable is the widespread support from sports icons like Drew Brees, Patrick Mahomes, Andre Agassi, and many others who have rallied behind his cause. Through his foundation, podcast, books, and speaking engagements, Tim shares his "seven inspirations from Luke" that guide his mission: find your passion, don't ever quit, lean on friends and family, make good choices, be careful, have faith, find forgiveness, and let a loved one's legacy live on through you.Visit teamlukehopeforminds.org to learn how you can support families affected by pediatric brain injuries and watch the documentary "Hope Beyond the Diagnosis" to see the foundation's impact firsthand.

La Story Nostalgie
Septembre 1984 et toujours en été pour Tina Turner

La Story Nostalgie

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 3, 2025 7:18

In "Serving Aces", Alexandra Stevenson and co-host Hugues Laverdiere talk first day at US Open.  They have a play by play at the end of Medvedev's five set loss, and their break out stars at the US Open.  Alexandra talks about possible matchups and chooses Eala and Fonseca and Korda as her break out players.  The discussion centers on the Gauff serve, the stringers, and the power of racquets in today's game.  They touch on American women and American men, with Alexandra favoring Shelton - and Ougi favoring Mboko.  Alexandra questions Ougi on all North American players and his take on each of them.  The podcast has a truly sound quote of the day from John McEnroe that easily tells what Medvedev and all players feel at some point..."The thrill of winning is not as great as the pain of losing."  While watching Medvedev pound and break his racquet, this quote is eloquent.  Alexandra gives a shout out to the college football season starting this week and the NFL on Sept 4.

When you have two guests on one show, you're going to get a variety of topics, especially when they have such diverse interests as tennis great Patrick McEnroe and Broadway icon Melissa Errico. The two, married 26 years, take us on a very friendly and relaxing jaunt through a very old-timey English castle (that somehow has a sauna and Pilates room), various off-the-beaten-path tourist spots in Italy, plus Frankfurt, Copenhagen, and Capri, home of those pants. And we get in plenty of discussion of tennis, which you can enjoy without keeping score (in that weird tennis way), running, or grunting. You can just lie down and let the anecdotes wash over you. Patrick tells us that his older brother, John McEnroe, has recorded a sleep story for a major sleep aid app, but that will cost you money and our show won't. Also, while Patrick will definitely send you to sleep, we have a hard time believing the same about John, having seen him get really super mad at line judges.Listen to Melissa Errico's album Lullabies & Wildflowers on the streaming service of your choice.Go to www.maximumfun.org/join and select Sleeping with Celebrities to support our show.Hey Sleepy Heads, is there anyone whose voice you'd like to drift off to, or do you have suggestions on things we could do to aid your slumber?Email us at: sleepwithcelebs@maximumfun.org.Follow the Show on:Instagram @sleepwcelebsBluesky @sleepwithcelebsTikTok @SleepWithCelebsJohn is on Bluesky @JohnMoeJohn's acclaimed, best-selling memoir, The Hilarious World of Depression, is now available in paperback.

She brings unique insight into neurodivergent efficiency, workplace design, and inclusive spaces through her work with Hidden Disabilities Canada and her signature Joy Inventory tool.If you've ever been accused of being “too intense,” “too rigid,” or “black-and-white,” this episode is for you. Angela and Claire flip the script and reclaim those traits as moral clarity, fairness-driven thinking, and authentic advocacy — powerful parts of autistic identity. Here's what defines this core Autistic trait:* We call out what others ignore.Autistic people are often the first to question broken systems, double standards, and flawed logic. We don't pretend it makes sense—we say it doesn't.* We sense injustice instantly.Misaligned actions, hypocrisy, and favouritism aren't just annoying—they feel unbearable. Fairness isn't optional. It's foundational.* We speak up—no matter the cost.Whether it's calling out ableism, bias, or misinformation, autistic advocates often challenge power structures—even when it's uncomfortable.* We hold systems to their own rules. We expect policies to be applied with consistency and equity. Selective enforcement? We notice—and we question it.* We feel justice in our bodies. What's labelled as “Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria” is often justice sensitivity—a real-time emotional response to being dismissed for telling the truth.* We don't fake neutrality. When something's wrong, we can't mask it. We're not “too intense”—we're deeply aligned with our values.* We crave clarity, not conflict.Accountability helps us feel safe. We don't want to blame—we want to understand what went wrong and how to fix it.* We value truth over comfort.Authenticity matters more than approval. Many of us would rather lose a friendship than betray our principles.Key Concepts* ✨ Moral clarity: We often see the ethical core of a situation before others do—and struggle to stay silent about it.*

An episode that welcomes you to a brand-new chapter in this project - one that has been years in the making! In Episode 131 of The Autistic Culture Podcast, we are revisiting the 10 Pillars of Autistic Culture! What you're about to hear is a special remastered version of an earlier episode that introduced the 10 Pillars of Autistic Culture, plus updated context and reflections from me about what it means in this new chapter. These are the building blocks of everything we're creating together going forward. This episode originally aired in January 2024, and since this episode first aired, I've taken a deeper look at the structure of the show and the framework we use to understand autistic culture.I've refined the 10 Pillars updating their names, sharpening the descriptions, and better connecting them to our lived traits, like sensory processing differences, stimming, emotional intensity, and our beautiful SPINs.What you'll hear in this episode is the heart of the work but think of it as the “draft” version.Over the next 10 weeks, I'll be highlighting one updated pillar each week with a replay of an episode that really brings that theme to life. I'll also share new context and reflections to go deeper. We'll unpack what each one means, how it shows up in our lives, and why it's worth celebrating. But I wanted to bring you this episode just as it aired because even though things have changed, this conversation holds so many gems, and it was a joyful reflection of where we were. And now, we get to go even deeper.Lets quickly walk you through what those 10 pillars are now. You might notice a few name changes:* Bottom-Up Processing (formerly “Logic and Strategy”)We build understanding from the ground up detail by detail, pattern by pattern. Think Sherlock Holmes, chess masters, scientific discovery.* Rhythmic Communicating (formerly “Linguistics and Accents”)Our conversations are musical echolalia, scripting, tangents, infodumps. There's a beat, a flow, a poetry to how we speak.* Norm Challenging (formerly “Deep Thinking and Insights”)We question assumptions. We live authentically. We honor truth over politeness, equity over hierarchy, and insight over illusion.* World BuildingWe don't just tell stories we create entire universes. Pokémon. Star Wars. Dungeons & Dragons. Autistic imagination builds the future.* Pattern Matching (formerly “Data Gathering and Analysis”)SPINs. Trivia nights. Wikipedia editing. Sexuality research. We find the signal in the noise and bring meaning to the chaos.* Game Changing (formerly “Innovative Ideas”)We're not following trends we're starting them. We rethink, reinvent, and rebuild systems from the ground up. Think Steve Jobs. Questlove. Muybridge.* Boldly Creating (formerly “Artistic Expression”)We paint with stims. We sing in scripts. We dance in sensory rhythm. Our creativity is intense, embodied, and often unconventional.* Predictably Comforting (formerly “Consistency and Reliability”)Repetition, routines, safe foods, rituals. These aren't rigidity they're anchors. Comfort. Stability. Power.* Justice Seeking (formerly “Justice and Honesty”)Fairness isn't optional it's essential. Emotional intensity meets ethical clarity. From Greta Thunberg to John McEnroe we stand for truth.* Passionate Superfanning (formerly “Superfanning and Fictional Friends”)Star Trek. Doctor Who. My Little Pony. Our love runs deep and our joy is contagious. Fandom is family. Lore is love. These 10 pillars map across three major domains of life:

Jerry's update included Kevin Harlan's call, Josh Hart on doing "little things," Mitchell Robinson feeling like a threat, and Charles Barkley wanting a night game for the Knicks on Saturday. We also heard MSG fan chants about Boston. Elsewhere, the Thunder scored 149 to even their series with the Nuggets, the Yankees won in the 10th after being no-hit into the seventh, and Juan Soto hit two homers in the Mets' win. Gio recounted his near miss at playing in the Creators Classic. The hour ended with Knicks fan calls. Hour 2 The Knicks repeated their Game 1 road win in Boston, coming back from 20 down as the Celtics' shooting faltered late. Despite the stat favoring teams up 2-0 on the road, Boomer is hesitant. Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson are playing well. Gio praised Karl-Anthony Towns' early performance. A 72-year-old caller hopes for another Knicks championship. Jerry's update featured Paul Pierce's confident prediction of a Celtics win (and subsequent barefoot robe walk promise), Celtics radio's reaction to a Bridges steal, and Karl-Anthony Towns on team unity. The Yankees beat the Padres with a Trent Grisham homer. The hour ended with Boomer and C-Lo's Rangers podcast, noting C-Lo's smaller picture. Hour 3 The Knicks secured another 20-point comeback win in Boston, mirroring Game 1. Callers discussed the Celtics potentially intentionally fouling Mitchell Robinson and the perspective of only watching the fourth quarter (Boomer disagreed with this approach). Another caller cautioned against premature celebration due to the Knicks' home losses. Jerry's update featured Shaq praising their "old school" style, and a Boston show likened the Knicks to "cockroaches" positively. The Yankees beat the Padres after Bellinger's seventh-inning homer, with Devin Williams' strong tenth. The Mets won in Arizona, highlighted by Jeff McNeil's triple and Juan Soto's two home runs. The hour concluded with enthusiastic Knicks callers, one anticipating a 3-0 lead and another questioning the sustainability of their comeback wins. Hour 4 Former Islander Josh Bailey called in to clarify Boomer's janitor comment from yesterday. The show then focused on Knicks callers, one noting the sportsbooks still have even odds for the Celtics to win the series. Jerry's final update included highlights of the Knicks' Boston win (with Kevin Harlan), the Yankees' sac-fly victory over the Padres, and Juan Soto's two homers in the Mets' Arizona win. The Moment of the Day featured Boomer discussing golf with John McEnroe (and being mocked). The hour concluded with a preview of Saturday afternoon's Game 3 at the Garden.

We're going back into the shadows and listening out for footsteps on tiled floors, as we revisit a series that all of us enjoyed back in season 1. We're going back 25 years to 2000 to look at a massively influential first-person stealth game. We're talking Thief II: The Metal Age.On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we chat a little bit about the architecture of Meet Joe Black, co-operative thieving, and crunching to hit the release date. We also look at a trailer that Eddie Vedder (and by extension John McEnroe) would be happy with, some of the hopes developer Looking Glass Studios had for the franchise, and the closure of the studio only months after launch. Here are some of the things you're gonna hear us chat about in our review: staying in the pitch black shadows and extinguishing flames with your water arrows; walking on carpet and shooting at tiled floors with your moss arrows; the Stealth Strepsil; the guards that never shut up; many different ways to move; new magic potions; the Scouting Orb and whether there's a need for it; the golden rule: get behind ‘em; a glitchy romance; cameras and big robots with faces; combat is punishment for being spotted; Dishonored; praise for quick save functionality; more objectives for higher difficulties; framing a lieutenant at the local police station; Kevin Keegan; a fondness for worldbuilding rather than plot; Blood Omen 2; sarky Garrett; religious texts; Karras as played by Droopy Dog; one of the best arguments; a UI that didn't please Josh; and a specific sound that pleases everyone. After all that, we take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then we give you our final verdicts on whether Thief 2: The Metal Age is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Metal Gear Acid on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS

ParentingAces - The Junior Tennis and College Tennis Podcast

Welcome to Season 14 Episode 6 of the ParentingAces Podcast, a proud member of the Tennis Channel Podcast Network. This week's episode does a deep dive into the new tennis coaching digital platform, Full Court Tennis, with its creator, former top ATP Pro, Brian Teacher. I first met Brian several years ago at the US Open Junior tournament. I've since run into him around SoCal and was excited to get him on the podcast to discuss the latest iteration of Full Court Tennis. I encourage you to watch the video version of this episode for insights as to what the platform is capable of doing for players, parents, and coaches. Here is the press release which describes it best: Virtual tennis coaching has never been easier to use since former Grand Slam champion Brian Teacher launched the improved and updated Full Court Tennis (FCT) website where players can connect with world-renowned coaches for virtual lessons making tennis coaching easily accessible and affordable for everyone.  For a limited time, Teacher has announced that players and coaches of any level can sign up completely free with no credit card required.  Originally launched as an iOS app two years ago, players and coaches can now sign up and connect directly on FullCourtTennis.com, where advanced features allow coaches to independently set their rates, get hired, or give free virtual lessons.  This includes:  •    Stroke Analysis: Submit videos for in-depth feedback on your technique.   •    Match Analysis: Get expert insights on strategy and performance. •    Live Video Call Lessons: Collaborate directly with coaches in real time to review match footage, improve techniques, or address any aspect of your game. FCT also offers innovative tools like match tagging and the ability to add multiple participants to a lesson space, making the experience collaborative and efficient.  “Full Court Tennis revolutionizes the way players and coaches connect, making expert tennis coaching as easy as clicking onto a website or using the app,” said Brian Teacher. “FCT's coaches are experts in stroke development, match strategy, and mental preparation, with many having worked with top-level professional players. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced player, FCT ensures you're learning from the best.”  More than 700 coaches from over 100 countries are on the platform, including coach Michael Russell - coach of ATP # 4 Taylor Fritz, Gilles Cervara - coach of ATP #7 Daniil Medvedev and coach Johan Kriek - two-time Australian Open champion.   All-time great John McEnroe and former USTA President & CEO Katrina Adams sit on the FCT Advisory Board, lending their expertise and leadership to the platform.
