The 2025 season is over, and Hall of Famer writer Steve Flink joins the show to recap the ATP Finals and the year's top storylines. Flink analyzes how Jannik Sinner was able to defeat Carlos Alcaraz in Turin, and explains why the Italian is so tough to beat on indoor hard courts. The journalist examines the Italian's commitment to evolve, the gap between the top two and their peers, and how Novak Djokovic will adjust to his new position off of the top of the tennis mountain in 2026. And Flink assesses Felix Auger-Aliassime's first Top 5 ranking, and the state of American tennis. As someone who's written for many of the biggest tennis publications in the world, Flink has established himself as one of the most credible voices in the game. He recounts how he discovered a love for tennis, his first jobs in the industry, and what he learned from legendary mentors Bud Collins and John Barrett. The Hall of Famer even shares his favorite memory of the Davis Cup on this informative episode of Inside-In. Hosted by Mitch Michals. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. George Bellshaw grasps the reins as James Gray takes a week off. He is joined by Calvin Betton, fresh from ATP World Tour Finals victory with Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara. Here are six bullet points summarizing this podcast episode: Henry Patten and Harry Heliövaara's ATP Finals triumph: Calvin reflects on their dominant week in Turin, where they became the only pair not to lose serve all tournament and capped off a phenomenal end to the season with victories in Beijing, Paris, and the year-end finals in Turin, all after winning the Australian Open in January. Sinner's indoor dominance continues: Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz 7-6, 7-5 in the ATP Finals, extending his remarkable indoor winning streak to 31 matches (fourth-longest in history) and demonstrating his superiority in fast court conditions. Felix Auger-Aliassime poised for breakthrough: Calvin's bold prediction: FAA will establish himself as the world's third-best player in 2026, citing his newfound confidence, consistent results, injury-free status, and superior talent compared to players like Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz. Zverev's coaching concerns: Despite being world number two, Calvin criticises Zverev's practice sessions as lacking proper structure and technical coaching, suggesting he needs to hire a proven coach rather than relying solely on family members if he wants to win majors. ATP calendar controversy intensifies: Calvin and George discuss Andrea Gaudenzi's plans to expand Masters events and focus on "premium products," with Calvin arguing passionately against taking tennis away from passionate fanbases in places like South America and Italy in favour of lucrative but atmosphere-lacking Middle Eastern venues. Djokovic's reality check: George and Calvin reflect on Novak Djokovic's interview with Piers Morgan, in which he admits the rise of Sinner and Alcaraz has forced him to re-evaluate his goals. The ATP Finals in Turin are officially in the books, and yes… the Sincaraz final we all predicted actually delivered. In another episode that was already released as a video overnight for our Patreon backers, Ben and Tumaini wrap up what was a very busy Saturday in the world of tennis, including three simultaneous finals. We start with the WTA Finals in Riyadh, where Elena Rybakina won a very high-quality, high-level tournament that still looked small. How is the WTA going in Saudi Arabia after two years? Should they extend their stay there? Read Tumaini's column on the state of the WTA for more. We then discuss the down-to-the-wire (down-to-the-netcord?) drama around the race to Turin, where Novak Djokovic made Lorenzo Musetti and Felix Auger-Aliassime sweat it out until the last possible moment before withdrawing from Turin. Was that fair or foul? We also discuss the newly announced "Battle of the Sexes" between Aryna Sabalenka and Nick Kyrgios, which we both think is a bad idea (but for a different perspective, read Ben's interview with the organizer, Stuart Duguid).  And then for a fun finish, Tumaini waxes lyrical about his love for 1 Point Slam, which is returning in Melbourne next year in a much bigger form. Welcome back to Tennis Unfiltered, the weekly podcast about tennis that does not hold back. Host James Gray risked his marriage this week by taking two hours out of his holiday to do the podcast, logging on from Athens to discuss the last seven days of tennis with Calvin Betton, Paris Masters-winning coach, and tennis writer and broadcaster George Bellshaw. Here are the stories they discussed: Jannik Sinner won his fifth Masters title and returned to world No 1, for a week at least with Carlos Alcaraz set to overtake him again next week. It also took Sinner to exactly 10,000 points for the 2025 season despite having served at three-month ban in the middle of it. Sinner beat Felix Auger-Aliassime (the indoor GOAT) in the final, having battered Alexander Zverev in the semi-final for the loss of just one game. This week Erik and Aidan discuss the Paris Masters 1000 tournament that wrapped up this week. The final Masters event of the year proved to be an eventful one, with the world number one player Carlos Alcaraz falling early in the tournament to British tennis player Cam Norrie. This opened up a lot of the draw, but still, Jannik Sinner seemed unbeatable. He cruised through his matchups, with a standout performance coming in the semifinal where he obliterated Alexander Zverev. However, while Sinner ended up winning the tournament, Felix Auger Aliassime's runner up performance earned him enough points to leapfrog his way into the final spot in the year end finals depending on how Lorenzo Muesetti does this week in Athens.Contents: Intro 0:00 Sinner Domination 2:38Early Upsets 5:40Dimitrov's Return 15:34Cousin Rematch 16:09Bergs-Opelka Beef 16:48Quarterfinals 18:21Semifinals 21:37Expected Outcome? 25:03What's New in Tennis 26:31Bet of the Week 30:25Match of the Week 31:55

Carlos Alcaraz meanwhile was knocked out by Cam Norrie, who maintains an impressive record against the Spaniard. But Norrie was beaten by Valentin Vacherot, who followed up his Shanghai title with proof that he is no flash in the pan, and moves into the top 30 in the world for the first time. In the best social media beef of the week, Zizou Bergs managed to catch both Reilly Opelka and Nick Kyrgios in a web of their own egos. Catherine, David and Matt react to Jannik Sinner's title in Paris and the first couple of days of action at the WTA Finals. Part one - ATP. Sinner is the Paris champion and the World No.1 again, but he will finish the season on top or will it be Carlos Alcaraz? We chat about that race, Sinner's astonishing performances all week in Paris, and how the final spot in Turin all comes down to the last week of the season as Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti's fates could be decided by Novak Djokovic. Part two - WTA (30:17). We all predicted Amanda Anisimova to win the title at the WTA Finals, but she lost her opening match 6-3 6-1 to Elena Rybakina. So what happened? And can she bounce back? We chat about the disappointing matches so far, Jasmine Paolini being under the weather, and the return of Coco Gauff's double fault issues against Jessica Pegula. Plus, Victoria Mboko has ended the year on a high with another title. Part three - News (50:31). We pay tribute to the retiring Rohan Bopanna and we say goodbye to our beloved Rosie.
