On Monday Match Analysis, Gill Gross runs through storylines and matches from week 1 at Indian Wells 2025. We'll start with a follow up on conditions since the organizers changed the court. Following that, we'll discuss Novak Djokovic's upset defeat to Botic Van De Zandschulp and Alexander Zverev's rough day against Tallon Griekspoor. But were those upsets more surprising/disappointing than Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev and Felix Auger-Aliassime? We'll end on Nick Kyrgios's opening round retirement due to wrist pain and the social media trend of showing large doubles crowds on the ground before diving into "Tales From The Booth." On Tales, we get to Yosuke Watanuki, Learner Tien, Arthur Fils, Garbiel Diallo, Ben Shelton, Gael Monfils and Sebastien Korda, plus Jack Draper vs. Joao Fonseca. Alexandra Stevenson joins the podcast for a great discussion about her career as a tennis player, and how she discovered a passion for tennis that still endures this day. Stevenson looks back at her early memories of tennis, and the path she took that led to a Wimbledon semifinal run at the age of 18. The former pro discusses the joys of that run in London, the scrutiny that followed, and why she is still very much involved in the sport as a teacher in the current day. And Stevenson shares her thoughts on the current trends on the WTA, areas where the current crop of female players have improved, and what is lacking in the modern pro game as well. And then Kenny Ducey stops by to recap last week's tournaments, where Stefanos Tsitsipas found his form and a new racket en route to a title in Dubai. Ducey examines what propelled Tsitsipas to the winner's circle, and how Tomas Machac was able to claim his first career title in Acapulco. The betting analyst also shares his thoughts on Felix Auger-Aliassime & Alexander Davidovich-Fokina's strong showings, Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro elevating their games, and which players he expects to perform well at Indian Wells, which begins this week. Hosted by Mitch Michals.

TENNIS WEEKLY CROWDFUND: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tennis-weekly Tennis Weekly 2025 Crowdfund is now open! Your support keeps us going no matter how large or small is hugely appreciated, from listening to donating we couldn't be more thankful to our audience! Now that the Australian Open is over it's back to the tour and this week the main focus is the dramatic Davis Cup Qualifiers 1st Round which saw upset and drama pan out across the globe. The main focus was one particular incident between Belgium and Chile that quite literally left Christian Garin floored when Zizou Bergs charged at him and collided at a change of ends. On the ATP tour it was Felix Auger-Aliassime who came out on top after choosing to play the Open Occitanie instead of Davis Cup just for Canada. He won his 7th title in Montpelier and has now almost reversed his 0-8 record in finals and has gone 7-2 since 2022. Elsewhere on the WTA tour there was a maiden 500 victory for Ekaterina Alexandrova who defeated former Australian Open semi-finalist Dayana Yastremska in a hard fought final. Alexandrova even bageled Karolina Muchova on her way to the title. Joel and Chris also answer a mailbag involving Australian Open winner Madison Keys being removed from the entry list of the Austin Open due to a technicality and whether the WTA should be doing more to build the profile of 250s rather than just removing their star players that would mean bums on seats and money in the bank for the smaller tournaments.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. This week Aidan and Erik discuss what has happened following the Australian Open, with the biggest topic being the ATP 250 which happened in Marseille. In an impressive run, Felix Auger Aliassime won his second tournament of the year, perhaps signaling he is back to his top 10 levels of previous years. Davor gibt es Lob für das Davis-Cup-Reförmchen und Fragezeichen bei Felix Auger-Aliassime, der sich höchstwahrscheinlich nicht mal selbst versteht.

Czech teen Jakub Mensik has matched Joao Fonseca’s seed-slaying feat dispatching Casper Ruud — the first two teenagers to beat top-10 players at the same Grand Slam since Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in 2006. A bitter-sweet night for the Aussies with Thanasi Kokkinakis losing a heartbreaker to Jack Draper, and Aleks Vukic upstaging Sebi Korda to reach his first major third round, while Alejandro Davidovich Fokina overcame Felix Auger-Aliassime. Title contenders Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff are in cruise control, but 2024 finalist Zheng Qinwen has been knocked out by Laura Siegemund — experts Simon Rea and Candy Reid analyse Zheng’s demise, and preview Day 5 action: Iga Swiatek v Rebecca Sramkova, and Matteo Berrettini v Holger Rune. Plus, Hollywood director Leigh Whannell drops by Pod Laver Arena to discuss the art of the horror movie. Happy New Year! The 2025 season is up and running and so are Lucy and Eugene who get into all the goings-on from an eventful first week. What's the deal with Elena Rybakina and Stefano Vukov? The Kazakh tops our news round-up. Coco Gauff, the United Cup MVP, carries the USA to victory and scores another significant win against Iga Swiatek. Jasmine Paolini and Felix Auger-Aliassime also got their campaigns under way at the team competition. The ASB Classic (or the Black Girl Magic Open) in Auckland provided us with amazing tennis and some incredible storylines from Naomi Osaka reaching her first final post-maternity, to Robin Montgomery making her maiden WTA Tour semi-final. Mpetshi Perricard beat the “serve-bot” allegations with his brilliant run to the semi-finals in Brisbane. Frenchman showed he can play with variety and ingenuity in wins over Nick Kygrios, Frances Tiafoe and Jakub Mensik. Arthur Fils and Gabriel Diallo play Hong Kong and experience a mixed bag. Keep the comments and likes coming guys. And please continue, sharing and subscribing! Feel free to leave us a review too. Lucy and Eugene talk Laver Cup where Team Europe were victorious, but Team World's Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton did record impressive singles wins over Daniil Medvedev. Changes in the coaching camps for Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek. Brand Patrick Mouratoglou joins up with Osaka and while technical guru Matt Daly steps into Gauff's camp – exciting times ahead. Asian Swing has already provided us with a champion after Arthur Fils's epic run in Tokyo where the Frenchman secured his second ATP 500 crown of the season. The 20-year-old beat multiple top 20 players en route, including a dramatic encounter against Shelton. Gauff did her thing in Beijing (had not played the final at the time of recording) played great tennis at the WTA 1000 including comeback victories in the latter stages of the tournament. We also shout out Hailey Baptiste, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Eliakim Coulibaly, and close with WADA's appeal against Jannik Sinner.
It was an extraordinary second day at the US Open. Catherine, David and Matt cover Jasmine Paolini coming back to beat Bianca Andreescu, Noami Osaka's awesome performance and statement outfit, Dan Evans winning the longest match in US Open history, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner both dropping sets, the lost generation of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov, Iga Swiatek's struggles with the schedule, and the end of Danielle Collins' Grand Slam singles career. It had already been a dramatic week in tennis but the sport was rocked on Tuesday when news came out that Jannik Sinner had twice tested positive for a banned substance in March. The world number one has been cleared of any wrongdoing and won't serve a suspension, but lots of questions remain. Catherine, David and Matt react to it all, detail the player reaction so far, and discuss what it means for Sinner, the sport, and the anti-doping process in tennis. Elsewhere, there's chat about Sinner's title run in Cincinnati, all the controversy surrounding the end of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jack Draper, Aryna Sabalenka's awesome performances in Cincinnati, tough losses for Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz, and how it all sets up the US Open. The Daily Dog is your home for Underdog picks for Tuesday. Each day host Britton Hess gives you his favorite Underdog plays for MLB, tennis, UFC, NFL and more! Subscribe for your Daily Dog! Today's show features Underdog Picks for Tuesday in Major League Baseball and the Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament. The first targets up-and down Canadian tennis star, Felix Auger-Aliassime against Thannasis Kokkinakis. Will FAA lose a set? Will he lose the match? I have thoughts and an Underdog pick to kick off the slip in the AM. Next I go back to the well, fading the White Sox hitters and making an Underdog Pick on a right handed pitcher facing the worst team in baseball, Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is old, but he isn't done, and versus this lineup he has a chance to excel. Lastly, I make a pick regarding a show favorite, Otto Lopez of the Miami Marlins. His total bases number is 0.5 vs Kutter Crawford and the Boston Red Sox... I think you know where this is going... These three plays together yield a 3.15x return on your money. The Daily Do(n)g list features some big names on the second day of July. Jose Ramirez has been heating up and is facing a pitcher with home run woes in Chris Flexen. Byron Buxton is seeing it well, and Salvador Perez is playing in a HOT game with 15mph wins gusting out. This flex play yields 33x if all three plays hit, 5.5x if it goes two for three!
