Bo and the crew talk about what Ole Miss needs for a win, the renovations at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and breaking down the college games for the weekend in the third hour of the show live in the BankPlus Studio. The guys break down what Ole Miss needs in order to beat Alabama and wonder if the Rebels can get pressure on Jalen Milroe to cause some turnovers. Choctaw Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about all of the renovations and new additions to the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course as well as the Sportsbook at Pearl river Resort. Chief Cyrus talks about all of the women succeeding in college sports from central MS and all of the talent that comes from the region. Chief Cyrus talks about the great food and atmosphere at the Sportsbook and how the bar is located closer than any other sportsbook. Bo and Chief Cyrus talk about the renovations at the golf clubhouse and how the course is getting better every single year. Dave Bartoo of the College Football matrix joins the show on the Farm Bureau guest line talking about the biggest storylines in week 4 of college football live in the BankPlus Studio. Dave starts by talking about some coaches that aren't in the game right now and some of them don't want to return to the game. Bo and Dave talks about Urban Meyer and Chris Peterson staying away from college football and how some people lose the urge for the sport and some, like Nick Saban, do not. Dave talks about what is wrong with Alabama and how Pete Golding is the defensive coordinator for Ole Miss. Bo asks Dave about the play-callers for Alabama and Ole Miss and Dave believes that Ole Miss has the better play-callers with Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin. Dave breaks down how Alabama lost a long time QB coach and how there is a window of opportunity for not only Ole Miss but every SEC West team to take advantage of the Crimson Tide having a down year. Dave says that he won't go near the game when it comes to betting but believes that now is the time to take advantage for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. Dave looks at Mississippi State playing South Carolina and compares the scoring efficiency levels of each team. Auburn travels to Texas A&M as a 7.5 point underdog and Dave looks at how both of the offenses in the game are better than both of the defenses, which leads into a specific bet. Dave turns to the Colorado vs Oregon game and breaks down the scoring levels of each team and whether or not it is likely that Oregon wins by 21 or more. Learn more about your ad choices. Ben Dave ran a lap of Yorkshire because he needed a big challenge after running changed his life, helping him lose 30kg and stop smoking a couple of packets a day. Running also helped Ben with his mental health. When he was feeling down and lonely, Ben could only think of going to the pub as an option. Therefore he set up the Early Bird Run Crew - a friendly, daily, early 5km run in his home town to connect the community, making everyone happier and stronger individuals.

#012 Ben Dave running around Yorkshire in aid of CALM

Inside Yorkshire Podcast

Welcome to the Inside Yorkshire Podcast, a podcast full of stories and tales from the people of Yorkshire. On today’s episode, Susan talks with Ben Dave about his incredible Yorkshire run, the challenges he faced, and the desire to raise money and awareness for mental health that kept him going even as he faced Yorkshire's formidable terrain. Key Takeaways: Ben Dave circumnavigated Yorkshire on foot, running more than 495 miles in 18 days. Prior to this, Ben says he’s only been running seriously for three or four years and didn’t run his first real marathon until 2016. During this challenge, he was essentially running a marathon a day. His longest day was 37 miles, his shortest was 13 miles.   Ben says the hardest part of the journey was tackling all the different types of terrain. His route included the tallest mountain in Yorkshire and the highest pub in England - in the same day! He would have to run through bogs and marshland, carefully picking his way across the treacherous ground with only a backpack of the bare essentials. About half the time he had people running with him, but for much of the run, he was all on his own.   The aim of the Yorkshire run was to raise awareness and money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). After struggling through a period of depression that left him feeling isolated, Ben wanted to create a wide platform for telling his story and starting conversations about mental health. Over the course of his run, Ben has raised over 26,000 pounds so far for CALM. He’s already prepping for his next marathon. Best Moments: “The officials' last count was 495.6 miles, I kinda wish I’d found another four miles from somewhere.” “I knew it was certainly achievable, from looking at what other people have done.” “You sort of quickly learn about the different grasses and the different reeds and where you can’t put your foot and where you can.” “At the time it felt incredibly lonely and isolating and it kind of felt like I was the only one that was going through it. And I wanted to do something to sort of publicly say that I’ve been through it because I kind of knew it would help people.” “It’s only when you open up yourself that you realize that a lot more people have trouble than own up to it, and I think the more of us that can be open about it, the less of a social stigma it is.” Valuable Resources: https://www.thecalmzone.net/ https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/runningyorkshire/ About the Host: Susan has been living in Yorkshire for over 30 years. She is passionate about the county she has adopted as her home and she never ceases to be amazed at the wealth of talent ‘Inside Yorkshire’ and the tales that people have to tell. About the Guest: This young man decided to raise awareness of men’s mental health issues by running around the boundary of Yorkshire in an effort to raise funds for mental health charity CALM. Ben is a keen runner, having run several marathons already, but had not taken into consideration the huge variety of terrain that would be involved. He set off on Yorkshire day, 1st August, and ran for 18 days - almost 500 miles in total. This is his story of one man’s epic achievement raising funds for a charity dear to his heart.
