This week, Pastor Matthew Fourie will preach from Matthew 5:7, where Jesus says: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” In a world quick to judge and slow to forgive, Jesus calls us to a life marked by compassion. As recipients of God's mercy, we're invited to extend that same mercy to others—becoming vessels of grace and forgiveness in a hurting world.

In a world craving success, comfort, and curated self-expression, Jesus flips the script: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. This message explores the ache at the center of the Christian life—the longing for things to be made right with God and with others. We look at how hunger goes wrong —through apathy, self-reliance, and complaint—and how Jesus invites us not to try harder but to desire more deeply: to contend in prayer, feast on the word, pursue justice, and long for His presence above all else. This is an invitation into deeper desire and the promise that God will satisfy.

The world defines the word “Blessed” differently than the Bible does. For the world, being blessed is all about your circumstances – are things going your way? God defines that word differently. “God is working even when we don't see it!!” This week I posted that message on our Facebook page. God has been reminding me of His power and wisdom and control over the happenings in our lives. Remembering that powerful message can really help us in times of struggle and persecution. In baseball my father always taught me to keep my eye on the ball. That same wisdom applies to our lives. Keeping our eye on our God can give us the victory we need and keep us from feeling like victims. Guest Speaker: Bill Wilkinson

We are Blessed. We are already ... * Blessed * Blessed. * Blessed ! ... with graces, purposes, and an inheritance beyond this realm. Like the patriarchs had an inheritance, like the Apostles had a commission - we also have a promise. "The Blessing" is the God-ingredient that makes living worth it. The second Beatitude in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is: "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4 NLT) The Greek word for mourn here is Penthéō, and it means, "To grieve over a death; to grieve over a personal hope that dies. A manifested grief so severe it takes possession of a person and cannot be hid." Have you felt this way? Are you grieving now?
