The Gospel on the Radio Talk Show with Pastor Jack King of Tallahassee, Florida
When you give the devil an inch, he becomes ruler in your life." — Elizabeth Davenport Join Pastor Jack King for a special live session featuring Randy and Elizabeth Davenport, the founders of Red Life Ministries. Based out of Kansas City, Missouri, this husband-and-wife team has dedicated their lives to traveling and ministering to those incarcerated in jails and prisons. In this conversation, Elizabeth shares her raw and powerful testimony of how Jesus set her free from a "junkie habit" that began at age twelve. Randy discusses his own journey of returning to the Lord after years of drifting and how he reinvented himself as a singer-songwriter to reach the "captive audience" behind bars. The episode features live studio performances of Randy's original songs, including "Prisoner's Praise" and "Follow You," which combine blues, rock, and country influences to deliver the Gospel message. Main Points of the Discussion: -- The transition from church laypeople to full-time prison ministers and the "boot camp" experience of preaching in noisy cell blocks. -- Elizabeth's miraculous transformation from a life of drug addiction to a powerful voice for Christ. -- Randy's story of backsliding and finding his way back to God's "reset button" in 1981. -- The concept of the "Inside Church" and how Red Life Ministries focuses on both "fishing" for the lost and "feeding" the believers within the prison walls. -- The role of creative arts and music in ministry, specifically using the guitar and harmonica to connect with inmates who share a love for southern rock and blues. Scriptures for Further Study -- John 10:10 (The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; Christ comes to give life). -- Psalm 107:14 (He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces). -- Matthew 4:19 (I will make you fishers of men). -- Matthew 25:36 (I was in prison and you visited me). Find more information about Red Life Ministries with Randy and Elizabeth Davenport here: http://www.redlifeministries.org/ This is episode 1255. ******* This is the radio program with the music removed. Many radio stations and apps offer the chance to ‘relax and unwind' with peace-inducing music and sounds – and such things definitely have their place, including within the Ruach Breath of Life Ministries. But many situations require us to ‘vent' and cry out to the Lord for His power to break through. And for that, what we want are not smooth and soothing pieces, but those that are decidedly sharp and ‘spiky'! When we invited our dear musician friends to record the opening movement of Vivaldi's ‘Winter' concerto from the Four Seasons, it was because we sensed that this is a piece that will help us respond to circumstances that rouse the godly passion and righteous anger within us. Sometimes, it is necessary to cry out for the ‘storm of the LORD' to come swirling in, and His anger to ‘fully accomplish the purposes of His heart,' as the Lord declares through Jeremiah. (Jer. 23:19-20) How would the Lord have you pray for the situations and injustices you are aware of? May this music help you find ways to give voice to these things – and may the God of breakthrough come as you do so! Many thanks to Susanne Herzog, Shirley Richards Anne Seidler, Gabriele Kröhnert, Peter Richards and Alexander Koderich for this wonderful recording. https://on.soundcloud.com/Un1bFkNXJGN483tbU5
In Part 2 of our conversation with Jordan Smith, Executive Chief Development Officer at Tree of Life Ministries, we explore what it really takes to reach donors from Boomers to Gen Z. Jordan breaks down the communication habits of different generations, how Tree of Life grew from a small online presence to more than 13,000 followers, and why social media is now the front door to donor engagement. Jordan also shares how strategic events — including something as simple as a community pickleball tournament — are bringing in brand-new supporters, and how thoughtful follow-up, prayer, and authentic relationships turn first-time donors into long-term partners. If you want to understand the future of donor engagement and how to connect meaningfully across generations, this conversation gives you a clear, practical roadmap from one of the leading young voices in nonprofit development.
In this episode, Roy Jones sits down with Jordan Smith, Executive Chief Development Officer at Tree of Life Ministries in Purcellville, Virginia. Jordan shares how a moment of compassion in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina inspired his family to launch a ministry that now partners with more than 40 churches and serves thousands each year. Together, Roy and Jordan explore what it means to lead with humility across generations—how younger leaders can introduce innovation while honoring the wisdom of those who came before them. From implementing new technology to building bridges between Boomers and Millennials, Jordan offers powerful insights on faith-driven leadership, generational teamwork, and keeping Christ at the center of every mission.
Youtube.com/@KayandOluTaiwoWhen we hear “greatness,” we often think of applause, platforms, and promotions. But in Luke 1:15, the angel speaks of John the Baptist: “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord…” John's life teaches us a different definition of greatness—one measured not by likes, followers, or fame, but by faithfulness.✨ Greatness is God's approval, not people's applause.✨ Greatness is focus and consecration, not compromise. ✨ Greatness is Spirit-filled dependence, not self-powered ambition. You may never trend online, but if you live Spirit-filled, consecrated, and obedient—you are already great in God's eyes. That's the only greatness that lasts. We're constantly bombarded with the world's definition of greatness: fame, followers, and applause. But what if God's perspective is radically different? In this powerful message, we dive into the life of John the Baptist (Luke 1:15) to uncover the only greatness that truly matters.John wasn't great because of miracles or fame – he never performed a single one! His greatness came from three profound principles: God's Approval Over People's Applause: Discover why fulfilling your divine assignment, not public recognition, is the ultimate measure. Consecration Brings Focus: Learn how intentional boundaries and discipline, like John abstaining from wine, free you to fully embrace God's mission. Dependence on the Spirit: Understand that true power and ministry flow from the Holy Spirit, not human charisma. You might never trend online, but if you live Spirit-filled, consecrated, and obedient, you are already GREAT in the sight of the Lord. And that's the only greatness that lasts forever. On October 7, 2023, the city of Sderot became one of the first places Hamas unleashed its brutal assault. But right there - in a city riddled with bullet holes, bomb shelters on every corner, and stories of terrorized children - there's something unexpected: life. In this gripping and emotional episode, we sit down with Pastor Michael, leader of City of Life Ministries, just steps from the rubble where terrorists stormed and slaughtered innocent police officers on that Shabbat morning. He takes us into the chaos of those early hours, the miracle that spared his apartment building, and what it's like to raise a family under rocket fire - with just 15 seconds to run for cover. But this isn't just a story of survival. It's a story of spiritual resistance. Of staying. Of blessing. Of building a community that not only endures, but proclaims hope in Yeshua despite pressure, persecution, and war. This episode reveals what the global headlines miss: how God is still writing His story in the land of Israel - even when the world wants to erase it. Key Takeaways: The October 7 Attack in Sderot: Pastor Michael recounts how Hamas deliberately targeted the local police station - killing friends and neighbors - while miraculously sparing nearby residents. Raising Families Under Fire: For over two decades, families in Sderot have lived under constant rocket threat. Bomb shelters aren't just safety - they're part of daily life. A Ministry of Life in a City of Death: City of Life Ministries feeds the hungry, counsels the traumatized, shelters the displaced, and proclaims the eternal hope found in Yeshua - right in the heart of a war zone. Opposition from Within: While Hamas wages war outside, ultra-Orthodox communities protest against Messianic Jews inside. Pastor Michael shares the spiritual and legal battles they've faced and how they keep loving their enemies. The Bigger Picture: What if this war is stirring both Jews and Christians toward a deeper prophetic return - to the land, to the Scriptures, and to one another? Pastor Michael unpacks a theopolitical vision of what God might be doing in our time. Caleb discusses growing up in an environment where everyone was speaking in tongues and having loud prophecies in the middle of church, the pressures that come with being the son of a pastor, how heightened emotional experiences keep people connected to their churches, wild evangelical youth culture involving Christian rock, how good church leadership can actually exist, and why shunning is one of the worst parts of modern Christian religion. This episode of Tip of the Spear brings you a riveting conversation with Pastor Billy Crone, senior pastor of Sunrise Bible Church in Las Vegas and leader of Get a Life Ministries. Today is the finale in our Men of May series and we are ending with another fantastic episode! I have really enjoyed this mini series and I pray you have too! I hope you have found it encouraging, uplifting and a nice way to change things up a bit on Honey For Your Heart! If you are a regular listener, you most likely heard Melody Hemphill's beautiful story of brokenness and redemption a few months ago on the show. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend you listen to her powerful testimony. Today, I am joined by her husband Randy Hemphill who shares the other side of their story. Randy is the founder of Life Ministries. He is an author, speaker, counselor and he and Melody are some of our dearest friends! Each week, I pray that the Lord would speak directly to the ears that are listening in ways that only He can. This week, He had a word specifically for me through Randy's story and to be honest, it caught me a little by surprise! You will hear more about that as you listen but it was a sweet reminder that the Lord does truly meet us right where we are as we listen to others share their stories. He is faithful to allow us to find ourselves in the narrative while reminding us in those moments that He is a God who sees and knows the deepest parts of our souls and meets us there with unchanging love, mercy and compassion. I know that as you listen today, you will find that to, once again, be true. Psalm 42:1 says, As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” As Randy eloquently states in this episode, we pray that these words are refreshing streams of water for your thirsty soul. Is witchcraft more common than we think and are we exposing ourselves unknowingly? In this episode, Amy interviews Michelle Young of Life and Life Ministries, who has over 34 years of experience leading people to Christ - specifically those who have been involved in witchcraft, freemasonry, and the occult. Michelle tells personal stories about those she has discipled and counseled out of demonic strongholds. She clearly defines witchcraft and deliverance, as well as how to spot witchcraft online and in your church. She also shares how all of us need to be delivered from past hurts, traumas, and bondage that can only take place by journeying with Jesus Christ. *Michelle & Dr. Chris Young: http://lifeinlifeministries.org *Amy is a Christian Counselor & Coach to schedule a session: https://www.biblicalguidancecounseling.com/appointments
Melody and her husband, Randy, are founders of Life Ministries. But their story is one filled with brokenness and healing. Restoration marks their relationship and ministry. They were married in June of 1995. Though they did not realize the full extent of their marriage vows, they made a commitment that they believed had forever all over it. Their individual stories became one story that day, but they did not realize the amount of wounding and struggles that they were each bringing into marriage until several years down the road. Gradually, it became clear that their marriage had cracks in the foundation, and in 2003 the depth of the damage became clear…their marriage was completely broken. It appeared that they had reached the end of their relationship, and the future looked hopeless. Only the love of Jesus could rescue them from the sinful, broken choices they had made. God exposed them, pursued them, and began to restore them. What they believed was impossible, God saw as possible, and He began a process of restoration in each of them that led to the healing of their marriage. Today, Melody is here to share her side of that story with a desire to point to God's powerful healing not only in her marriage, but deep within her soul in ways she could have never imagined. Maybe you are in a hard place in marriage and it feels hopeless. Or maybe you feel tempted to believe the lies Satan is throwing your way that you have to be perfect or your life has to look a certain way to be worthy. This story is for you! You will feel seen and known as Melody shares and most of all you will be pointed to a place of dependency on the Lord that gives you the courage to call out to Him and trust Him, especially in the darkest of days. Everyone experiences disappointment or sadness to some degree. In Psalm 13, David demonstrated what it means to trust God in tough times. Feeling forgotten, forsaken, sorrowful, and subdued, David cried out for God's consideration and illumination. As he prayed, his perspective changed, and he was able to rejoice—even though his circumstances remained the same. Alistair Begg teaches that when we face difficult times, we must resist self-pity, trusting that God knows what's best for us and can use even our hard experiences for good.
