Send us a text In this episode of BuddyWalk with Jesus, we slow down over Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Jesus isn't just calling us to do the right thing—He's inviting us into a new kind of desire. We unpack the language of hunger and thirst in the Greek, explore what “righteousness” (dikaiosynē) means in Matthew (right relationship, justice, and alignment with God's will), and confront how our cravings are shaped in a world of endless consumption and algorithm-driven attention. This episode will help you name what you're really hungry for, recover a holy appetite, and take practical steps to retrain your desires toward Kingdom life—trusting Jesus' promise that the hungry will be truly filled. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael A. Youssef explains that a thirst for righteousness is a natural outgrowth of a deepening relationship with Christ. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael A. Youssef's sermon Happiness Is in You, Part 4: LISTEN NOW
In this honest and weighty message kicking off the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Karl walks through the Beatitudes—the nine “blessed are” statements that reveal the heart attitudes Jesus demands of every true disciple. From spiritual poverty and mourning over sin to meekness, insatiable hunger for righteousness, mercy, purity of heart, peacemaking, and even rejoicing in persecution, these aren't optional extras; they're the non-negotiable “be-attitudes” that must mark every citizen of God's kingdom. When these attitudes shape us, we naturally become the salt of the earth and the light of the world—distinct from culture, preserving what is decaying, and shining so brightly that others see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. A convicting reminder that following Jesus was never meant to look like the world around us.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
The Beatitudes have provided generations of Christians comfort, guidance, and strength for their faith. Join Groundwork as we study the first four of Jesus' Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-6 to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be poor in spirit, to mourn, to be meek, and to hunger and thirst for righteousness. We'll also discuss why Jesus promises the kingdom of heaven and blesses those who possess these dispositions, and why he invites us to cultivate them in our own lives of discipleship.
The storms of life can sweep you away unless your foundation is built on something immovable and unchanging - a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jill explores the Beatitudes and gives practical guidelines about the outward actions and inward attitudes of believers. Jesus says the truly blessed are those starving and thirsty for righteousness—not the merely busy, active, or "in ministry." This message probes what it actually means to crave Christlikeness in everyday life and shows how that hunger is the mark of a real Christian.

Matthew 5:6 & 13:1-23 Everyone wants to be happy, but what if everything we thought about the way to get it was wrong? What if ‘the good life' – or ‘the blessed life' as Jesus calls it in his very first sermon – was found in the very places we often try to avoid? Tune in to hear our series on The Beatitudes, where we learn about the life God calls us to, how it looks nothing like we think, and why it's better than we could ever imagine.

Continuing our series on the Beatitudes, Keith Jackson looks at what it means to hunger and thirst for righteousness, exploring the difference between our own "stinking righteousness" (our failed attempts to earn God's favour) and the unearned righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. All Nations Christian Centre is an Elim Pentecostal Church in Reading, UK.For more information, please visit our website: https://www.allnationselim.orgOr follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @allnationselim

Beatitude #4 is significant - do we hunger and thirst for God's righteousness or do we crave the world? God teaches that if we'll pursue Him, He'll meet us. Open your Bible and let's get ready for God's Word! Foundation Stones Devotional on Amazon: https://a.co/d/guRUu9QSupport the show
To hunger and thirst for righteousness is an outward expression of our desire to seek first the Kingdom of God. Jesus is teaching that when we strive to live righteously, we experience the goodness of God in a way that causes us to treat others the same way God treats us... Just, honest, and equally.

Blessed are Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness - Matthew 5:6
Part V of our ongoing Beatitudes sermon series.
My desire for a righteous world won't motivate anyone else to seek God's approval. Yet the reverse is also true – the world's lack of hunger for righteousness doesn't need to reduce mine, or yours!
By Derek Einersen - Derek continues his sermon series on the Beatitudes by looking at the question What does it mean to hunger and thirst after righteousness?
From Matthew 5v6 with David Thomas In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus introduces the upside down kingdom of God—the last will be first. His kingdom doesn't follow a worldly structure of power, fame, or notoriety, but instead, Jesus says that the poor and meek will be blessed. https://bridgetown.church/teaching
