What are you really hoping for this Christmas? At this year's Candlelight Service, Stu Quackenbush points our hearts to Jesus, the Word who became flesh, the Light who stepped into our darkness, and the fulfillment of God's promises. He is the One who does not just give hope, but who is our Hope, now and forever.

The prophet Isaiah declared, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." Pastor Kong Hee shares that Christmas is God sending his Son Jesus to bring light into our darkness, to give us a better life, filled with love, joy, peace and a purpose for living.

At Christmas, we come to the miracle of the incarnation, where the unknowable God takes on flesh. When God shows up, light drives out darkness, and love drives out fear. When Jesus was born, God chose to announce His arrival to shepherds - society's outcasts and lowest class. This wasn't accidental but intentional, showing that Jesus came for ordinary people, not the proud and powerful. The angels proclaimed Jesus as Savior, Christ, and Lord, giving the shepherds a sign to find Him in a manger among their own community. Just as shepherds faithfully cared for their flocks 24/7, Jesus serves as our Good Shepherd, knowing us personally, providing for our needs, and pursuing us with unfailing love. The Christmas story reminds us that Jesus is accessible to everyone and calls us to surrender not just to Him as Savior, but as Lord of our lives.
