What do you turn to when you are tired, overwhelmed, or running on empty? Stu Quackenbush continues our One Hope series and reminds us to live wisely being careful about what we allow to fill us. In this passage, Paul contrasts being "drunk" on things that promise escape or relief with being filled by the Spirit. One leaves us empty. The other brings life.
What would it look like to be fully alive to Jesus in 2026? Trent Heaton continues our One Hope series in Ephesians and invites us to consider how the gospel shapes not only our personal faith but also the way we live together in community. As we step into a new year, this message calls us to live awake, connected, and transformed by the One Hope who unites us all, Jesus.

This passage calls us to wake up, see clearly, and let His light change every part of our lives.

FOCOLARE WORD OF LIFE January 2026 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” (Eph 4:4)During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity,[1] we are invited to focus our attention on a particular theme found in Paul's letter to the Ephesians. In what is called to be his “prison letters,” he urges his readers to give credible witness to their faith by being united with one another. Their unity is based on having one faith, one spirit and one hope, and only with this unity can they bear witness to Christ as “a body.” “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.”Paul calls us to hope. What is hope and why are we invited to live it? It is a seed, a gift, and a task that we have the duty to protect, cultivate, and bring to fruition for the good of all. “Christian hope assigns us to that very narrow ridge, that frontier where our vocation requires us to choose, every day and every hour, to be faithful to God's faithfulness to us.”[2] The Christian vocation is not only a relationship between the individual and God. A Christian is called to love everyone who is a neighbor in the present moment. Christ prayed in the garden just before he was crucified, “I pray for them…so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me…” (Jn 17:21) In Chiara Lubich's talks and writings, we often find explicit references to unity, the primary aspect of her spirituality. Unity is the fruit of the presence of Jesus among us - and his presence is a source of profound happiness. “If unity is so important for Christians, then it follows that nothing is more opposed to our vocation than failing to live unity. We sin against unity every time we yield to the temptation, which continually resurfaces, to be individualistic, to do things on our own, or to be guided only by our own judgment, personal interests, or desire for esteem. We sin against unity when we ignore or even disregard others and their needs and rights.”[3] “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” In Guatemala, there is a very active dialogue among members of different Christian Churches. Ramiro writes: “We prepared the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity with a group of people from various Churches. The program included an arts festival organized together with the youth, as well as several celebrations held in different churches. The Catholic Bishops' Conference asked our group to continue working together to plan a moment of sharing during a meeting of Catholic bishops and leaders of different Churches, who were coming to Guatemala from many other countries to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. Through these activities, we experienced a very strong unity among all of us and the fruits that it brings: fraternity, joy and peace." The more united Christians become, the greater the possibility for all humanity to fulfill, in a more complete way, the prayer for unity that Christ prayed in the garden. Prepared by Patrizia Mazzola and the Word of Life team[1] The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity takes place throughout the northern hemisphere from January 18 to 25 and in the southern hemisphere during the week after Pentecost. This year's prayer texts were prepared by an ecumenical group coordinated by the Armenian Apostolic Church.[2] Madeleine Delbrêl, French Catholic author, poet, and mystic, considered by many to be one of the most significant spiritual figures of the 20th century.[3] Chiara Lubich, Founder of the Focolare Movement, Commentary to the Word of Life of July 1985.

Counterfeit Christmas | Only One Hope by Napoleon Church of the Nazarene
*This week, our One Hope, The Gospel Changes Everything series may be a sensitive topic for some as we dive deep into sexual sin in Chapter 5 of Ephesians. This teaching is not intended for young children and we invite parents to decide for their families what is best for their kids, but we feel like it is an important message for our church. Have you ever felt like you're fighting the same fight again and again? Ben Phebus continues our One Hope, The Gospel Changes Everything series and reminds us that we aren't fighting alone. Jesus not only calls us to walk in the light, He gives us the power to leave old patterns behind. In Him, we find real strength, real change, and real victory, from even the most destructive sins.
Have you ever prayed for something so long that you stopped expecting the answer? In this powerful Advent message, Pastor Stephen Mizell explores the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth—a faithful couple who waited 40 years for a child while continuing to serve God in the temple. Through their story found in Luke 1, discover a profound truth: God's silence isn't His absence. Sometimes heaven's delays aren't denials—God is preparing something bigger than what you're praying for. In This Episode: Why biblical hope is different from wishful thinking—it's confident expectation based on God's character How Zechariah and Elizabeth's obedience positioned them for a miracle they'd stopped expecting The difference between faith that believes God "can" versus faith that serves Him even when He "doesn't" Why both Zechariah and Mary asked "how?" but received different responses from the angel What it means to "keep lighting the incense"—staying faithful in service while waiting for answers How God sometimes closes our mouth so He can open our understanding Pastor Stephen challenges us with this question: What do you do when your prayers seem unanswered? The answer may surprise you—it's not to stop praying or stop serving, but to continue faithfully because hope is forged in consistency, not excitement. This message kicks off Open Door Church's Advent series, preparing hearts for 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting beginning January 4th. Key Quote: "Sometimes the most righteous people carry the heaviest crosses. Faith is not just believing God can—it's continuing to serve Him when He doesn't answer the way you expect." Scripture Focus: Luke 1:5-25

Todaywe're looking at Ephesians 4:4-6 where the Apostle Paul is giving us the sevenspiritual realities that unite us in Jesus Christ. There must be a foundationaltruth that makes us one. Our oneness is based on and because of theseseven realities that are given to us at the moment we trust Jesus Christ as ourpersonal Lord Savior. Atthe moment of our salvation, we were baptized into the body of Jesus Christ. Read1 Corinthians 12, where Paul is dealing with a church that's in tremendousdivision. One of their divisions is over the matter of spiritual gifts and whohas the best gifts. Paul deals with this subject by taking them back to thefoundational truth of the Holy Spirit and His giving the gifts of the Spirit, that are given to every member in the body. “For as the body is one and has manymembers, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, soalso is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whetherJews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink intoone Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:13-14). Paul uses the analogy of the humanbody to describe this foundational truth to help us to understand it. I only haveone body. I don't have three bodies or four bodies different bodies. I don'thave the option to jump into this body today, and tomorrow I wake up and say, “Iwant to dress up in this next body”. No,I only have one body God has given it to me not only duration of this life onearth, but He's given it to me for eternity. One day God will glorify even thissame frail fallen body for eternity. My friend, this is a foundational truth.Just as the body is one, it has many members. I have hands, I have eyes, feet.Paul goes through those different aspects of the body and what they individuallydo, but it's one body they work together. Eachmember of our body helps and cares for the other members. They are not jealousof each other because it is one body. This is the same spiritual reality thatis ours in Christ, the moment of our salvation as it says in verse 12 and 13: “Foras the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were allbaptized into one body”. Nowback to Ephesians 4:4 where Paul writes, “one body, one Spirit”. There'sonly one Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that dwells lives in me, lives inyou. This is what gives us unity, one body, one Spirit, working for theselfsame purpose to build up the body, the church of Jesus Christ, to exhortone another encourage one another so much more as we see the day approaching. Thattakes us to the next spiritual reality. “Just as you were called in one hopeof your calling.” This “one hope of your calling” has to do with thesecond coming of Jesus Christ. It is also called “the blessed hope” (Titus2:13). We are looking forward to Jesus coming one day. Paul is talking aboutthis also in Romans 8:23-25: “Not only that, but we also who have thefirstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerlywaiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in thishope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for whathe sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it withperseverance”. Wewere called to look forward to this “one hope” that one day Jesus is comingback for us! 1 John 3:2-3 promises it this way: “Beloved, now we arechildren of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we knowthat when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Andeveryone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure”. Whata blessed and glorious hope is ours today!!! So,the spiritual reality is: one body, one Spirit, one hope. We have fourmore to look at over the next few days. Godbless!

Have you ever wondered what it really means to live out your calling? In his message “One Hope,” guest speaker Jon Opgenorth, President of Words of Hope, unpacks Ephesians 4:1-6, where Paul—writing from prison—urges believers to live in a way that reflects the calling they've received in Christ. This passage reminds us that our calling is not just individual but shared. We are invited to walk together in humility, gentleness, and unity, grounded in the one hope we have in Jesus.
It's Wednesday, October 8th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 88 countries restrict Bible access The Bible Access Initiative released a list of nations where access to the Bible is restricted. Eighty-eight countries have at least some restrictions on Bible access. The country with the most extreme restrictions is Somalia followed by Afghanistan, Yemen, and North Korea. The Bible Access List noted, “Bible access in Somalia is not just limited; it is outlawed. Under a strict interpretation of Sharia law, it is illegal to print, import, store, or distribute Bibles.” Many of the countries with the worst restrictions are Muslim-majority nations governed by Sharia law. In 2 Timothy 2:8-9, the Apostle Paul reminds us, “Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!” 20,000 Canadian pro-lifers stood in Life Chain An estimated 20,000 pro-lifers joined Canada's 35th annual Life Chain on Sunday. Participants took the streets across hundreds of cities in Canada. They held pro-life signs along roadways and prayed for the end of abortion. Josie Luetke with the Campaign Life Coalition told LifeSiteNews, “You see longtime, elderly activists with their walkers and lawn chairs and families with young kids running around. Life Chain is really a group effort . . . and it is a joy to see the entire pro-life movement united in this cause on this one day.” 30% of Canadian 11 to 13-year-olds open to church if invited Speaking of Canada, youth evangelism ministry OneHope released a report on the spiritual state of Generation Alpha in the country. The study covered young people between the ages of 11-13. Forty-nine percent of respondents identified as Christian, 35% as non-religious, and 16% as other religions. Only 27% of Gen Alpha Christians qualified as committed Christians through Biblical beliefs and regular prayer and Bible reading. Among non-religious teens, 30% said they would be open to attending a Christian church service if a friend invited them. Trump eager to cut billions in waste and abuse during shutdown In the United States, the federal government shutdown continues as funding proposals from Republicans and Democrats keep failing in the Senate. Democrats are withholding support for a funding bill unless it extends Obamacare subsidies. Republicans want to deal with the issue later in the year. President Donald Trump said he wants to use the shutdown to cut billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse. Listen. TRUMP: “Because of the shutdown, which I think they made a big mistake, we're able to take out billions and billions of dollars of waste, fraud and abuse. And they've handed it [to us] on a silver platter. Elon Musk: Cancel your NetFlix subscription over transgender shows Tech billionaire Elon Musk is echoing recent calls for people to cancel their Netflix subscriptions over immoral programming for children. He posted on X last Wednesday, “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids”. The shares of Netflix dropped nearly 5% over the course of last week. The recent trend to cancel Netflix resulted from conservative voices exposing Netflix for pushing transgender shows on children. More Americans perceive having kids as a blessing Pew Research released a new report showing that more people view having children as a good thing for America. Fifty-three percent of U.S. adults say that if more people choose not to have children, it will have a negative impact on the country. That percentage is up from 47% last year. Only 20% of respondents said that people choosing not to have children would be positive for America. Among men, 59% said fewer people having children would have a negative impact. Among women, that number fell to 48%. Anniversary of William Tyndale's death for translation Bible into English And finally, this week is the anniversary of William Tyndale's death, traditionally commemorated on October 6. Tyndale faced arrest and later death in 1536 for alleged heresy. However, he had worked tirelessly to translate the Bible into English. It was his devotion to Scripture that brought him into conflict with church and civil leaders. In response to an assertion of the supremacy of the Pope, Tyndale famously said, “I defy the Pope and all his laws; and if God spares my life, ere many years, I will cause the boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost!” Copies of Tyndale's translation were smuggled into England by the thousands. His work would form the basis of the Great Bible, edited by Miles Coverdale. It made its way into every parish church just three years after Tyndale's death. Isaiah 52:7 says, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.'” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 8th, in the year of our Lord 2025, my bride Amy's 49th birthday. This week at One Hope, Gareth preached from 1 Corinthians 9:19–23 on the Gospel Method for Missional Living. He reminded us that true freedom in Christ is not for self-indulgence but for serving God and others. Like Paul, we are called to lay down our freedom to reach people with the gospel, living as sent ones in every sphere of life. Through incarnational mission, faithful contextualisation, and the Spirit's empowering, we are ambassadors of Christ—His aroma, salt, and light in the world.

Jazmín Ozuna shares her remarkable journey of using a biblical worldview to analyze proposed legislation in Paraguay, revealing how subtle language changes can threaten fundamental, God-given freedoms. This special episode comes from our recent DNA Forum in Panama. During the week, we had the opportunity to sit down with a few of the people who are championing biblical worldview training in their nations. They share powerful stories of how their mindsets have shifted and how God is working through them to be His hands and feet in discipling their countries. These conversations reveal the incredible ways God is moving around the world and inspire us to envision how He can use each of us—right where we are—to tangibly obey His Great Commission. Every one of us has a role to play in discipling our families, churches, communities, and nations!Who is Disciple Nations Alliance (DNA)? Since 1997, DNA's mission has been to equip followers of Jesus around the globe with a biblical worldview, empowering them to build flourishing families, communities, and nations.
Divorce is often whispered about in the church, but rarely talked about honestly and openly. In this first episode of our series on divorce, we sit down with three women from different stages of life—each with her own story of walking through divorce while navigating faith and community. Together, they share the heartbreak, the hope, and the ways the church helped—or sometimes hurt—along the way. This honest conversation invites us to listen with compassion, break the silence around divorce, and consider how the church can be a place of grace and healing for those walking this road.
In this sermon, we are reminded of the beautiful reality that God has given us a hope unique to us as Christians. Knowing what God provided for us, we should seek to provide the gospel to others. Romans 3:19-31

Hey, youth leaders! I'm working on a nation-wide research project, and I'd love your help! We're trying to answer this big question: What helps youth pastors thrive and stick around longer in ministry? We deeply believe that when a youth leader thrives—in their relationship with God, in healthy partnerships with others, and in making disciples—students win. But too many youth leaders are burning out, dropping out, or just hanging on by a thread. That's why we're launching a nationwide survey to figure out what actually helps youth leaders flourish long-term—and we want to hear from you. What we're hoping to learn: What's the current average tenure of a youth pastor? What factors make someone more likely to stay in youth ministry longer? Does being part of a youth leader network actually make a difference? Whether you're brand new to ministry or have been at it for decades, your input will help churches and ministries like National Network of Youth Ministries (NNYM) better support youth pastors—so we can see more leaders thriving and more students transformed by Jesus. The survey takes just 5–10 minutes, is completely confidential, and as a thank-you, you'll be entered to win a $100 Amazon gift card. Take the survey at the link below. https://bit.ly/thriving-yp-survey-2025 Thank you in advance for helping shape a healthier future for youth ministry!
“It behooves us as Christians to think theologically and ethically about what it means to live as humans in the age of AI and about the potential opportunities and challenges that may arise from its widespread adoption, both in the short-term and long-term future,” writes Todd Korpi. “Contrary to popular belief, technology is not acultural, neutral in its orientation, or immune from pitfalls that can harm vulnerable populations. We therefore must think ethically about technology from a Christian perspective.” In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I talk to Korpi about how to think Christianly about AI. I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. Todd Korpi is missiologist at OneHope, dean of digital ministry programs at Ascent College, assistant professor of Christian leadership Fuller Theological Seminary, and director of Digital Ministry Consortia at the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center. He is author of AI Goes to Church, published by InterVarsity Press. ————— This episode of the Influence podcast is brought to you by My Healthy Church, distributors of the Ignite Parenting Conversation Cards.
