This week, the JOYLAND Community explores the expansive concept of light—not just as brightness, but as presence, revelation, and identity. Rather than opposing darkness, light works in harmony with it, revealing wisdom and transformation. Jessica presents the concept that light is intrinsic to our being, not something we strive for, and she encourages embodying light through gentleness, wisdom, and authenticity. As the JOYLAND Community looks back and reflects on Easter, we contemplate and revelate: Using our place and timing to plug into the various stories of how those disciples, friends, followers, persecutors, and even enemies might have encountered the risen Jesus Himself—to most of their surprise—was undeniably alive again. * No one seemed to expect Him to come back to life. Should they have? * Some were quick to believe, but usually once He revealed Himself (even then some doubted…fear seemed to be involved). * Some you wouldn’t have expected to believe apparently did! Who were they? As it was that first few weeks following Jesus’ resurrection, it is not in doctrine that we are called to believe in—but a person—Jesus. Belief in doctrine DOES NOT make us Christians! The resurrection presents each of us with the invitation to believe in and know Jesus, who is alive today, right now in our lives. Jesus makes us living sons and daughters of His Father and Our Father, His God and Our God. A simple Look into one of the centerpieces of God’s goodness we can celebrate this weekend with Jesus on the cross. How can we interpret the events of the cross? First, explore what is recorded in scripture about the event(s) for us to read? Second, if available, let our interpretation be informed by any relevant teaching or prophetic scripture explaining or foretelling the event(s)… Third, recognize (and question if necessary) the influence that popular or common interpretations and theological explanations have on our beliefs… Finally, don’t fall into the trap of finalizing what you ‘believe’ without actually asking God! After all, He IS with us, He loves & speaks to us, and He was there! The opposite of simplicity seems to be complexity. Complexity often leads to confusion. Let’s overcome confusion? 1 Cor 14:33 NASU 33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. Join the JOYLAND Community as we discuss: Are there areas of your faith in God (Father-Son-Spirit) that are potentially vulnerable to confusion & loss of Simplicity & Singleness through complexity? Possibilities we have looked at: * conflicting biblical or doctrinal assumptions – options on eschatology * prayers v. delayed answers - love/forgiveness/mercy/judgment/punishment * cultural justice v. cultural mercy – needing money v. loving money – others? If so…ask, How can I bring my heart and mind back to “… the simplicity that moves into the Christ (Jesus)?” (because that simplicity leads into relationship, peace & trust) Follow along at our social outlets: https://joylandlife.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/joylandlife/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5-vPe7h_wjctIQxnaUQSnQ?view_as=subscriber Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/joyland-life/id1494637858 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6gCbEDE8pgrNhHlG0WM0fo?si=6fSKeO87SoGrx2BOUveHfQ&nd=1 Zoom: https://www.zoom.us/j/3377733377 Joyland App: https://tithely.app.link/joyland (You must follow this through your phone.) 2 Cor 11:3 KJV … but I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity (NT:572 [haplotes]) that is in [eis/into] Christ. 2 Cor 11:-4 KJV 1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. The most straightforward literal translation of the phrase above: A literal rendering that preserves the simple meaning of eis would be: “the simplicity; the [one] into the Christ.” or “that simplicity that is into the Christ. If our doings result in rewards, what are the connections between Doing, Rewards, and our Belief / Faith? Can we find connection between BELIEF/FAITH & DOING & REWARDS? * Our “Reward” is Both Personal & Relational - - Is GOD WITH US (His Full Triune Self) the ESSENCE & REALITY of our REWARD? * The Big Result of Our Faith? We Get To Know God! - - Jesus, after revealing the true nature of ETERNAL LIFE, gave us a glimpse of what the GLORY OF HIS PERSONAL/INCARNATE ETERNAL LIFE experience consisted of: DOING WHAT HIS FATHER (and our Father) GAVE HIM TO DO. * Another Huge Result of Our Faith: God’s Pleasure 1) How important is it to recognize God as your Reward(er)? Really Important, because it is presented here as equal to believing that HE EXISTS as He is! 2) How important is the possibility of us being able to be PLEASING to GOD? God’s proclamation of HIS PLEASURE is central to His REDEMPTIVE GIVING! * God’s Pleasure Can Lead To Faith - - Galatians 1:15 But when God, who had set me apart even from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, was pleased 16 to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles... * Is God’s Pleasure a Response Out From His Love? Join the JOYLAND Community as we revelate in this discussion on: - God Himself (Father, Son & Spirit) as our Reward (or even exceeding great reward) - His ‘pleasure’ or ‘being pleased with us’ as part of that reward… - His ‘pleasure’ possibly being a natural, intentional response out of His love… Follow along at our social outlets: https://joylandlife.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/joylandlife/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5-vPe7h_wjctIQxnaUQSnQ?view_as=subscriber Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/joyland-life/id1494637858 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6gCbEDE8pgrNhHlG0WM0fo?si=6fSKeO87SoGrx2BOUveHfQ&nd=1 Zoom: https://www.zoom.us/j/3377733377 Joyland App: https://tithely.app.link/joyland (You must follow this through your phone.) Witch Blood Rising is a celebration of the ways that witchcraft has stubbornly kept itself alive in Western culture—and a call to action for all seekers who yearn for a witch's life.Growing up in an endless sea of California suburbs, where sacred groves and wise women only existed in movies, Asa West spent her childhood chasing visions she didn't understand. When she found a guide to witchcraft in a tiny bookshop, she knew she'd found her calling—despite a patriarchal society's efforts to keep her away from a life of mysticism. But it's not easy to awaken your witch blood in a culture that laughs at magic and renders women powerless. Although the market abounds with practical guides to witchcraft, it's harder to find books that chronicle the art of living a witch's life. Asa West uses her almost thirty years of magical practice to bring warmth, humor, and insight to a spiritual path that's at once immeasurably ancient and continually reborn. She explores all the ways that witchcraft rises up from the blood of its devotees and through subjects like the online herbalism industry, Marvel movies, witch-hunting manuals, bee priestesses, and tarot.Witch Blood Rising is a celebration of the ways that witchcraft has stubbornly kept itself alive in Western culture—and a call to action for all seekers who yearn for a witch's life.Asa West is the author of The Witch's Kin and Five Principles of Green Witchcraft, and her work has appeared in The Offing, Joyland, Gods&Radicals, and other publications. In these four things God IS; Him as LOVE is the most perfect likeness to be fully manifested by us, His Image - Bearers. -You are and have an eternal spirit…yet it is a spirit of and for one man. -You can burn , and your tongue can light a fire, but it is without the consuming power that enables God to purify every other child of His. -You are – according to Jesus – a light to the world around you, but you and I do not carry the responsibility to be the light of the whole cosmos. -You can – and must – love God and love your brother with the exact same love given to you that is the love Father God loved and loves Jesus with. Is it possible to be at peace and assured that we are in God’s will as we head irresistibly (or is it uncontrollably) into this coming new year, 2025? In our Joyland Community discussion, we cover: We do have a part to play, but it is God Himself who works in us to both will and do our part. We play a part in both our hope and manifesting God’s will, but our part is 100% the gift of Father, Himself being with us and us with Him in Jesus by the Spirit! In addition to literally being a component of “God’s will for us in Christ Jesus”, our very thoughts, words, and obedience of giving thanks “in everything” to Father God in Jesus by Holy Spirit is what empowers us to “stay alert in” our prayers and our praying! Thanksgiving focuses and opens our senses and heart to what God is doing around and to us. How scary can 2025 (or any year) be if you KNOW God Himself will be with you? Join us and take part as we revelate and share on these points, and in future discussions by connecting on our social and media outlets below: Follow along at our social outlets: https://joylandlife.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/joylandlife/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5-vPe7h_wjctIQxnaUQSnQ?view_as=subscriber Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/joyland-life/id1494637858 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6gCbEDE8pgrNhHlG0WM0fo?si=6fSKeO87SoGrx2BOUveHfQ&nd=1 Zoom: https://www.zoom.us/j/3377733377 Joyland App: https://tithely.app.link/joyland (You must follow this through your phone.) We are ourselves only in community.” – Eugene Peterson, Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places, 2005. A holy honor?) * "When we step into God’s light, we walk with others who are stepping into that same light." – George MacDonald --Unspoken Sermons, 1867–1889. The Losers' Club: A Stephen King Podcast

After releasing The Colorado Kid and Joyland via the Hard Case Crime imprint, Stephen King made his grand debut into the world of hard-boiled crime fiction with Mr. Mercedes. The first in a trilogy, the 2014 novel introduced readers to Bill Hodges, a crusty, retired detective who finds his golden years interrupted by the taunts of a psychopathic killer he failed to apprehend.  Join the Losers as they detail the book's origins, how it differs from the author's previous forays into crime, and the ways in which it reflects evolving societal fears about domestic terrorism. They also discuss the book's messy vision of a post-recession America and its musings on class, second chances, and the nature of evil. It's also one of King's poundcakiest books, so prepare to blush. Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Patreon Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
