Your tragedies can become your treasures. When I was first diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I thought that it was a tragedy that would have marked my life permanently. What I didn't know was that that tragedy would have allowed me to help Amigas worldwide and write my first book, becoming a precious life treasure indeed. After months of writing, I have finally completed my first book. It hasn't been an easy road, I had to face a few challenges on the way, but I finally reached my goal. I decided to share this with all of you amigas out there because I genuinely believe that everything is possible if we set our mind to it, work hard, and believe in our capabilities. For most of my life, I lived with the impostor syndrome that I couldn't be a writer, and I believed that. When I finally challenged this belief and allowed myself to write a book, everything changed, and I discovered a part of myself that I didn't know I had inside me. Rember, sometimes we find out who we are when we are being challenged, and these are the hardships that make us unique, special, and amazing altogether. Finishing my first book was a great accomplishment for me, but I couldn't have done it without the help of my fantastic amiga and writing coach, Christina Igaraividez. Christina was there with me every step of the way, and I couldn't be more grateful for this. In today's special episode, Christina asks me some questions about the coming of my book, how I was able to fit writing into my schedule and why I decided to write a book in the first place. Christina Igaraividez is a writer, performer, producer, and storytelling coach. Whether it's an ensemble production or a digital short, she is constantly working on how to get people to laugh and sometimes cry. She has trained in comedy across Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles at places like Second City, Iowa, and UCB. Her YouTube channel has received notoriety from outlets such as Huff Huff Post, Paris Hilton, and le weekly Upworthy, and she was a finalist for the Sundance YouTube new voices lab. Christina has a strong passion for storytelling and has performed across various stages in LA. With Yatra Luna West, the LA chapter, she Co-produced a new audiobook of short stories that is an audible original titled talking while female and other dangerous acts that feature 25 stories from Latinas across the US on themes of risk and resilience. Some Questions Christina Asked Me:Do you have a writer's background? When it comes to writing, whether it is journaling or writing a book, or a screenplay, the most important thing is that it needs to come from within yourself without any restrictions or mental filters. How often did you hear something like, you should journal about your problems? This is standard advice when it comes to journaling. The idea that you have to write specific topics for your writing to have a purpose is widespread, but it can't be more hurtful because it prevents your mind from being creative and expressing its true self. To fully express yourself through writing, you need to write whatever you want it to be, without fear or filters. Just write what you feel about writing, and start from there. Today's guest, Christina Igaraividez, will tell us about her decision to quit her marketing career and move to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for acting and storytelling and the power of writing whatever we want it to be. Christina Igaraividez is a writer, performer, producer, and storytelling coach. I was so happy to interview my fellow Chicago native Christina Igaraividez an actor, storyteller and content creator. We discussed her time at Vidcon and her upcoming project, Latinaish TV. A channel of comedy by Latinas for everyone that is brought to you on Instagram and Facebook’s newest television feature. We touched on Latinx influence on culture and perfection paralysis a disease I happen to suffer from time to time. We also discuss Christina’s work with Teatro Luna and all their upcoming projects. It’s always great to connect with my fellow Chicagoans! Chicago stand up!
