Todos tenemos un pasado oscuro… el mío es que fui profesor de autoescuela. Bromas aparte, mi mayor simpatía y admiración a los profesores de autoescuela. A mí me especializaron a la fuerza en casos difíciles, casi imposibles… así que además de 10+1 consejos, os voy a contar 10 anécdotas, todas reales, una por consejo. Y una advertencia: Seguro que ya tienes carné, pero este video te puede interesar… te lo prometo. El último consejo, el “bonus track”, es el más importante… y no os perdáis el consultorio clásico hoy tenemos a nuestro “experto” Jaime Sánchez de Seat en Rodaje solo para nosotros… un lujo.… Como os decía fui profesor de autoescuela especializado en casos “imposibles”. Y aprendí mucho de coches, de enseñanza y de personas… a mí que me gustan la formación y los coches, fue una gran oportunidad. vLo que sucede es que, aunque pueda no parecerlo, tengo mucha paciencia, y me especializaron en casos muy difíciles, los dos extremos, personas muy mayores o muy, muy jóvenes. Y no fue fácil. Pero una cosa sí me quedo clara… que buscan las personas que van a una autoescuela. Si crees que a la autoescuela se va a aprender a conducir… te equivocas. Este fue mi primer error. Por supuesto que se aprende a conducir, pero antes hay otro objetivo. Las autoescuelas buscas satisfacer a sus clientes, que van allí no para aprender a conducir, sino a obtener su carné de conducir… esta diferencia es clave. Ya mi padre me decía que “primero había que aprender a aprobar y luego ya con el carné aprendería a conducir…” Vamos ya con los trucos, “tips” o consejos. 1. “Entiende” a tu coche. Mi opinión es que si cabes lo que haces, especialmente en lo que concierne al cambio, acelerador y embrague, te va a ser mucho más fácil hacerlo bien. 2. No te pongas nervioso. Sé que no es fácil… Hay una forma, dar las clases precisas. Y no querer ir con prisas… hay quien dice que al profesor y a la autoescuela lo que más la interesa es dar muchas clases… sí y no. 3. Intensidad. Como en el deporte, hay que estar atento, en guardia, con todos los sentidos en lo que haces… No hay que estar nervioso, pero tampoco relajado. 4. “Puesta en escena”. Exagera… un poco. No se trata de que coloques es espejo interior o los exteriores, eso por supuesto, se trata de que sea evidente para tu examinador que colocas los espejos. Teatraliza un poco cuando miras los espejos, cuando te aseguras de que no viene nadie por el lateral moviendo la cabeza, o si tienes que regular asiento y volante… 5. Ni liebre ni tortuga. Debes respetar rigurosamente TODOS los límites de velocidad y, ante la duda, mejor quedarse por debajo que por encima. Pero un buen conductor no debe ser una tortuga, circular exageradamente lento denota falta de pericia… y, además, es un peligro. 6. Suavidad, suavidad y suavidad. Al buen conductor se le reconoce por la suavidad en su conducción. Esto es algo que sucede incluso en circuitos, donde te sorprenden los buenos pilotos porque a pesar de que las frenadas, por ejemplo, son bruscas porque son al límite, el manejo del volante es de una suavidad asombrosa… un conductor brusco no es un buen conductor. 7. Imprevistos: Prioridad a la seguridad. Lo que más temen los alumnos son los imprevistos, la persona que se cruza, el coche que gira inesperadamente… la norma es esta: Da igual lo que pase, lo primero es la seguridad. 8. Evita “vicios”. Tales como la mano en el cambio, las manos muy abajo, etc.… Os he hablado de cuanto obtuve mi carne de conducir de coche. Pero antes me había sacado el de moto, en el servicio militar el de camión y luego de camión con remolque y el de autobús… tengo todos y todos salvo el de coches, lo conseguí a la primera… pero en el autobús, tuve mis dudas. Y esa es la anécdota. 9. Lenguaje en “clave”. Complicidad con el profesor. El profesor que va a tu derecha no te puede hablar, salvo que sea por un tema de seguridad. Pero si puedes pactar señales con él. Por ejemplo, si tienes el vicio de llevar las manos muy abajo, pacta con él una forma de avisarte… esto lo hice yo con buen resultado. 10. Pregunta sin miedo. No te cortes. A la menor duda de las instrucciones que te da el examinador, pregunta para que te lo deje claro… estos malos entendidos puede ser causa de un suspenso inmerecido. BONUS TRACK: Haz caso a tu profesor. El resumen de todo. Hemos contado situaciones y anécdotas en España, fuera de España pueden ser diferentes, pero entre diferentes provincias, incluso entre diferentes examinadores, las cosas pueden ser diferentes… y todo eso lo sabe y lo conoce tu profesor de autoescuela. Si tu profesor de la autoescuela te dice que alguno de los consejos que te he dado no es adecuado, hazle caso a él, no a mí.

Hemos hecho cerca de 15 podcast sobre los grupo B así que los consideraba tema cerrado. Hasta que me encontré con un miembro del canal que me dijo: “Nos has contado muchas cosas del Grupo B pero nunca cuáles son los motivos para que se hayan con vertido en un verdadero mito”. Y pensé que, efectivamente, no lo habíamos contado todo… hoy lo haremos. Y hay reflexiones muy interesantes. Para mi hay 10 razones por las que los Grupo B se han convertido en mito: 1. Prestaciones. El mayor cambio que trajo el Grupo B es que hasta ese momento los coches de rallyes no eran coches de carreras propiamente dichos, sino coches de calle más o menos deportivos y muy preparados, que mejoraban con creces a todo lo visto antes. 2. Muchas marcas implicadas. Los rallyes siempre habían atraído a las marcas, porque los consumidores venían en las carreteras por las que circulaban a coches que podían comprar, algo que los hacia más “próximos” que la F1 y los prototipos. 3. Conducción. Esto sí lo contamos con detalle en el citado video y es que la potencia prácticamente se duplicó, llegando en ocasiones a acariciar los 600 CV. Pero tan importante como la potencia bruta era la entrega, pues la patada y el tiempo de respuesta de los turbo de los años 80 era un pequeño problema en los circuitos. Pero un problema muy grande cuando vas por un estrecho camino de tierra o nevado con barrancos a los lados. 4. Tecnología. Con los ojos del 2025 puede que la tecnología de los Grupo B no te parezca sofisticada, pero en los años 80 eran lo más de lo más. La llegada de los sistemas de sobrealimentación, turbo, pero también compresores, fue un dolor de cabeza para los ingenieros. 5. Un plantel irrepetible. De acuerdo, los Sébastien Loeb y Oggier son la bomba y ganaron los mundiales consecutivos, primero Loeb y luego Oggier, desde el 2004 al 2021 ambos inclusive, con el paréntesis del 2019 cuando venció Tänak. ¿Es que no tuvieron rivales? Pues sí, pero evidentemente no a su altura. Nos vamos a la etapa del Grupo B y te hago un repaso de algunos, solo algunos, de los pilotos que los condujeron: Miki Biasion, Stig Blomqvist, Juha Kankkunen, Hannu Mikkola, Michèle Mouton, Heni Toivonen, Ari Vatanen, Jean Ragnotti, Björn Waldegard, Walter Röhrl, Timo Salonen. 6. Peligrosidad. Afortunadamente esto ha cambiado, pero en las carreras de coches la peligrosidad era un ingrediente que añadía interés… recordad lo que decía Hunt y es algo que de algún modo se aceptaba. 7. Atención mediática. La suma de todos los factores citados y de algunos que viene a continuación, consiguió que los rallyes consiguiesen en los medios la atención que merecían. Ya la tenían en los medios especializados, pero no en los generalistas. 8. Rallyes carismáticos. Los rallyes, en los años 80, eran más duros, mucho más duros, que lo son ahora. No solo por número de kilómetros cronometrados, no solo por la cantidad de días, es que había rallyes mixtos, que ahora no se llevan y rallyes africanos, más cercanos al París-Dakar que a los rallyes actuales. 9. Afición entregada. Si nunca has estado una noche de invierno junto a una hoguera, al pie de un tramo de rallyes rodeado de aficionados… te pierdes a la mejor afición al motor del mundo y probablemente a la más entendida. 10. Espectacularidad. En este aparatado que, como decía al comenzar, quizás sea el más importante, no voy a hablar ni poco ni mucho ni nada… os dejo en manos de Rodrigo. Se puede decir que el Seat 850 ofreció por primera vez a los españoles una verdadera gama: Carrocería 2 y 4 puertas, versión Normal y Especial, Coupé y descapotable. Algo ahora muy común, pero en los 60 muy novedoso. Hoy, gracias a Seat en rodaje vamos a probarlos todos… hasta el gran olvidado… El vídeo de hoy es muy, pero que muy especial… Porque en Garaje Hermético nos gusta rodar en carretera, salir del estudio y rodar con los coches… cosa que hacemos muy a menudo, pero sin cámaras… esta vez será con cámaras. Y es un vídeo que es posible gracias a nuestro buen amigo Jaime Sánchez, “alma mater” de “Seat en rodaje” quién siempre pone a nuestra disposición su museo “vivo”, pues ya sabéis que es la mejor colección de Seat Clásicos del Mundo y que todos sus coches está listos para subirse, girar la llave y arrancar. Jaime nos ayudará con las conclusiones de este vídeo. El 850 nace para suceder al 600 pero también para complementarlo por arriba como modelo intermedio entre el 600 y el 1100. Y es que era un coche más moderno y mejor en todo que el Seat 600. Vamos a ver la línea temporal. El Fiat 600 se presenta en 1955 y el Fiat 850 en 1964, es decir, 9 años después. Es decir, era un coche claramente más moderno y con muchas mejoras. En el caso de los Seat, el 600 nace en 1957 y el 850 en 1966, en cambios casos dos años después que los Fiat y eran modelos exactamente idénticos a los italianos. Incluso al principio, en el caso del Seat 600, con algunos elementos traídos de Italia, aunque rápidamente se nacionalizó al cien por cien. El 850 no es un coche grande… pero sí es más grande que el 600, casi un 8 por ciento más de largo, de 3,295 a 3,570 esos casi 30 cm, que se ganaban en gran medida en la habitabilidad posterior, eran muchos… El motor pasaba de 633 cm3 y 21,5 CV de los primeros Seat 600 a 843 cm3 y 37 CV de los primeros Seat 850. En este caso el incremento es mucho mayor, más de un 30 por ciento en cilindrada y ¡más de un 70 por ciento! en potencia… Y luego llegarían versiones más potentes del 850… a este motor le dedicaremos unos minutos. Y aunque el genial Dante Giacosa diseñó el 850 partiendo del 600, se mejoraron muchas cosas, entre otras la calefacción, que en el 850 era “de verdad”, con un pequeño radiador situado delante, entre los asientos, que calentaba al aire en invierno… y en verano. Porque si tu “ocho y medio”, como también se le llamaba, se calentaba en verano, poninas la calefacción y tenías un radiador “extra”. El motor de 847 cm3 era un motor sobre el papel de lo más “normalito” con árbol de levas lateral arrastrado por correa. Pero era un motor muy bien hecho que viraba con gusto a regímenes altos. Del 850 Especial he comentado muchas veces que era una especie del antecesor de los GTi. Con la misma cilindrada de 843 cm3, pero con un carburador de doble cuerpo de apertura diferenciada y un colector de escape 4 en 1 muy eficiente, conseguida nada menos que 47 CV a 6.200 rpm y subía hasta casi 7.000 rpm. En un coche de un peso de unos 700 kg, buena aerodinámica por CX y sobre todo por sección frontal y unos desarrollos muy cortos, que permitían al motor girar alto de vueltas, las prestaciones eran sorprendentes. Este motor era todavía más redondo con la cilindrada subida a 903 cm3 y 52 CV, el motor que se usó en el Sport Coupé, la segunda versión del Coupé, y que luego alcanzó su máxima difusión en el Seat 127 e incluso en el Panda. Llegó incluso a los 1.010 en el Seat 127 Especial… Seat 850 Normal. El Seat 850 nació con la versión Normal que con el paso del tiempo se denominó 850 D como hemos dicho con motor de 37 CV. Seat 850 Especial. El Especial, además de por detalles de equipamiento, se distinguía como hemos contado por su motor. Se llamó Especial, Especial Lujo, D Especial y D Especial Lujo. Vamos a probar solo una, pero aquí tenemos dos… que nunca verás juntas en otro sitio. Incluso hoy día este coche en carreteras de curvas tiene, como se decía antes, un “reprise” notable… Seat 850 Sport Coupé. Hubo un inicial Coupé y luego este Sport Coupé, con un capo que vislumbra lo que podría ser un spoiler, con 4 faros y sobre todo con el motor 903… Este coche, en color rojo, era el sueño de mi tío… y de muchas personas a primeros de los años 80. Seat 850 Sport spider. Para mi uno de los spider más bonitos de la historia… diseño de mi querido Giugiaro en su etapa de Bertone… yo tuve uno que adoraba, pero en miniatura. Seat 133: El gran olvidado. Un buen amigo mío periodista decía que el Seat 133 era un 850 “disfrazado” de Seat 127. Algo de verdad ahí, pues se quiso cubrir un hueco comercial por debajo del Seat 127 con este coche que, además, a base de dar caída negativa detrás y positiva delante, se pretendía que se comportase casi como un tracción delantera.

Este podcast tiene extra… de nuevo tenemos a nuestro experto y amigo Jaime Sánchez para resolver un par de dudas en nuestro “Consultorio Clásico”. ¡Y pretende ser un podcast participativo! No tiene sentido si no os mojáis en los comentarios. Porque es un reto y a la vez un juego… Vamos a ver con que coche ha soñado cada una de las generaciones que van desde 1946 hasta ahora mismo. Os damos nuestra opinión… pero nos interesa más la vuestra. Volviendo al tema, nos vamos a referir a los coches con que soñábamos de adolescentes. Luego todos, por lo menos yo, he seguido soñando… porque soñar es gratis… de momento nuestros políticos no han encontrado la forma de poner un impuesto a los sueños… menos mal… ¡estaría arruinado! Este va de coches que han soñado y sueñan cada generación. Especialmente aquellos que son aficionados al automóvil y por tanto conocedores y no simples usuarios. Elegiremos uno por generación más dos alternativas extra. Me he guiado por artículos, vídeos, estudios y opiniones de amigos… no es un estudio serio “sociológico” … eso vendrá después, en función del número de vuestras respuestas. No incluyo ni coches de competición ni prototipos. Y hablamos del coche soñado en la adolescencia que hemos fijado en un promedio de edad en el entorno de los 16 años. Con esa edad ya eres, o te crees, adulto, pero aún no tienes grandes responsabilidades… ¿Con qué coches soñábamos los Baby Boomers? Hagamos cuentas: Los de esta generación tuvimos 16 años entre 1972 y 1990. Y soñábamos mayoritariamente con el… ¡Porsche 911 Turbo! Por marca, modelo y variante lo tenía todo. Este coche apareció en 1974 y marcó un verdadero hito por sus prestaciones y sobre todo por la aureola de coche salvaje y muy eficaz solo en manos de unos pocos. Se hablaba de su potencia, del tiempo de respuesta, del milagro que suponía el turbo que “regalaba” potencia… y luego la estética “eterna” del 911 hacían el resto. Desde luego, este era el coche de mis sueños. ¿Con qué coche soñaba la Generación X? Hagamos cuentas: Los de esta generación tuvieron 16 años entre 1981 y 1992. Y soñaban mayoritariamente con el… ¡Ferrari F40! El último modelo diseñado en vida del “Commendatore” Enzo Ferrari nació siendo un mito y el mito creció con su fallecimiento. Recuerdo los artículos y las portados del año 1987: “El mejor Ferrari de la historia”, “un coche de competición matriculable”, “Ferrari vence al Porsche 959” y cosas parecidas. Desde luego para mí, aunque no sea de esta generación, fue, es y seguirá siento el coche de mis sueños. ¿Con qué coches soñaban los Millenials? Esta generación fue adolescente entre 1997 y 2012. La década que va del 2000 al 2009 fue prodigiosa y muy optimista con muchos coches para soñar. No ha sido fácil, pero creo que los de esta generación soñaban mayoritariamente con el… ¡Bugatti Veyron! A las personas de esta generación Bugatti, le sonaba a coche mítico de los años 20… pero cuando aparece el nuevo Bugatti EB110, esta marca vuelve a la actualidad. En mi opinión la imagen de esta marca como coche para soñar que consolida con las distintas versiones del Veyron aparecido en 2005, todas con el motor W16 cilindros, con 8 litros de cilindrada, 4 turbocompresores y más de 1.000 CV. Es difícil imaginar otro coche de estos años que sea mejor para solar con él. Por cierto, Jeremy Clarkson lo elegió como “El coche de la década”. ¿Con que coches sueña la Generación Z? Esta generación comenzó a llegar a la adolescencia, a los 16 años, en 2013… y mucho estáis todavía en ello. ¡Qué suerte! Juventud divino tesoro… Aunque os chirríe, muchos de estos “jovencitos” sueñan con ¡un coche eléctrico! Sí, los mismos coches con lo que los “Baby Boomers” también soñamos, pero en nuestro caso son pesadillas. Los de esta soñaban… ¡Porsche 918 Spyder! Sí, el primer coche hibrido que aparece en este video… lógico, los tiempos cambian. Pero un coche muy exclusivo, del que solo se fabricaron 918 ejemplares. Aunque parece un 911 llevar motor térmico central de 608 CV unido a dos motores eléctricos, uno por eje para conseguir un total de 887 CV… no está mal. El prototipo se presentó en el Salón de Ginebra de 2010 y la versión de producción se presentó en el Salón de Fráncfort de 2013… justo cuando los primeros “Generación Z” cumplían 16 años. Conclusión. Llega vuestro turno. Os cedemos la palabra dinos a que generación perteneces y con que coche soñabas. Porque de este vídeo, si me ayudáis, pienso hacer una segunda parte.

With special emphasis on the plurality of Latinx masculinities, the essays reveal the divergent manifestations of masculinity across a broad spectrum including politics, social movements, literature, media, popular culture, personal experience, and other analytical angles. The pernicious effect of stereotypes and toxic Latinx masculinity is laid bare throughout the text in chapters that challenge the derogatory performances and reification of machismo in mainstream U.S. culture and society. At the same time, other essays look to how Latinx masculinities are being reclaimed and remade. Era el primero de la saga “Coches míticos”. En esta segunda entrega nos vamos al extremo opuesto: Coches que no se han convertido en mitos… pero deberían serlo. En 1958 nace en Londres un pequeño taller de preparación de motor. Sus fundadores son dos jóvenes ingenieros Mike Costin y Keith Duckworth que unen sus dos apellidos para bautizar el taller como Cosworth. Nadie pensaba, ellos mismo seguro, que sus motores consiguiesen más victorias en la F1 que nadie: 176. Todo un récord. Aunque Ford y Colin Chapman tuvo mucho que ver. Este es uno de esos vídeos que disfruto mucho haciéndolos, porque son una historia interesante, de esas que demuestras que la realidad supera a la ficción. Y además es un vídeo con un buen final, pues tenemos a un invitado de lujo, Jaime Sánchez de “Seat en Rodaje” que nos ayuda en nuestro consultorio clásico. ¡No os lo perdáis! Pero volvamos con Mike y Keith o Keith y Mike. Este taller estaba especializado en motores de competición y no les iba mal. De hecho, solo 6 años después se trasladan a Northampton, donde por cierto siguen estando. Y 10 años después fundan una “sucursal” en Torrance, California, en USA. Aunque no han trabajado solo para Ford, la historia de Cosworth va muy ligada a la marca americana. De hecho, al principio fabricaban motores para la fórmula junior, muy popular en el Reino Unido, sobre la base del motor Kent de Ford de 1.000 cm3. También trabajan en un coche mítico, aún hoy día, por el que tengo debilidad: El Ford Cortina Lotus. Este modelo de Ford de bonito nombre… era un Cortina aligerado, con suspensiones retocadas y motor preparado por Cosworth… una maravilla. Y un modelo que sirvió para que los “chicos” de Cosworth trabasen una cierta amistad con Colin Chapman… una amistad que en ese momento no sabían la importancia que tendría. De la Fórmula Junior saltan a las Fórmulas B y luego a la F2 donde tuvieron un éxito arrollador. Pero la F1 todavía no entraba en sus planes. A Colin Chapman solo había una cosa que le gustaba más que los coches: Ganar. Pero en la F1 tenía un rival terrible, que era Ferrari, que no solo hacia buenos coches, sino sobre todo buenos motores… que solo usaban ellos. Para ganar a Ferrari necesitaban un nuevo motor, sino tan o más potentes, sí más ligero, más compacto, más económico de consumo y con una característica clave para sus coches: Que fuese suficientemente rígido como para formar parte del chasis. Keith Duckworth estaba trabajando en un motor así, pero la faltaba dinero. Y fue Chapman que convenció a Ford para financiar el proyecto del motor Ford Cosworth. Ford soltó 100.000 dólares de los años 66, que era un dinerito y a partir de ahí el motor Ford Cosworth DFV comenzó a tomar forma. Cosworth tenía un magnífico motor de F2 que cubicaba 1.8 litros. En ese momento el reglamento de la F1 era el llamado de los 3 litros, motores atmosféricos de 3 litros o sobrealimentados de 1,5 litros… eso ni se contemplaba… hasta que llegó Renault. Así que Keith redujo la cilindrada de sus 4 cilindros a 1,5 litros y los junto en un ángulo de 90 grados. Ni imaginaba nadie que este motor tuviese una vida cercana a los 25 años… ¡en competición! No era tan potente como los Ferrari, pero sí cumplía con las exigencias de Chapman. Además, este motor estaba disponible para cualquier equipo de F1 que lo solicitase. En esos años la F1 no era como la de ahora. La mayoría de los equipos eran pequeños talleres muy expertos y especializados pero artesanales. Lotus era de los más importantes, pero no dejaba de ser así: Usaban cambios “Hewland”, diferenciales “ZF”, amortiguadores “Koni”, frenos “AP o Lockeed” … y a partir de ese momento, motores Cosworth. El motor Cosworth debutó en el G.P. de los Países Bajos de 1967, en el Lotus 49 pilotado por Jim Clark. Lo que nadie imaginaba en esos momentos es que prácticamente con ese mismo motor Michele Alboreto a bordo de un Tyrrel ganaría en el G.P. de Detroit en 1983, 16 años después. El motor DFV evoluciono en el motor DFZ que era un DFV adaptado a la reglamentación de los 3,5 litros y en el DFR usado por unos cuantos equipos de F1 hasta 1991. Un dato: Jean Alesi con Tyrrel puntuó con el motor Cosworth en 1990, en este caso 23 años más tarde de su debut… ya os decía al comenzar que me gustan esas historias en las que se puede decir que la realidad supera a la ficción… ¡un motor de F1 que duro más de 20 años! Increíble. El motor Cosworth DFV fue un éxito en la F1. La fama, justa fama, de Cosworth provocó que marcas de mucho renombre recurrieran a sus servicios para coches de calle. Os traigo algunos ejemplos. Para mi uno de los más interesantes es el Mercedes 190 E 2.3 16 y 2.5 16, motores cuyas culatas habían sido diseñadas por los ingenieros de Cosworth y que alcanzaron gran éxito en las ventas, pero también en competición y en concreto en el DTM. No me puedo olvidar del Audi RS4 de 1999, un coche “familiar” con un motor V6 de 2.7 litros multiválvulas y turbo que conseguía 300 CV… un coche que también probé en su momento y que era una bala, sobre todo en autopista… era para lo que estaba diseñado. También Subaru recurrió a Cosworth para su Imprezza CS400 de 2010, un coche con todo lo bueno de los bastidores de la marca, incluida la tracción total, pero con un motor retocado por Cosworth que alcanzaba los 400 CV. Y el último, el Aston Martin Valkyrie, con motor V12 de nada menos que 1.000 CV de potencia… gracias a Cosworth. Zapatero a tus zapatos. Como curiosidad, Cosworth quiso hacer su propio F1 en 1969 y ficho a un ingeniero de renombre, Robin Herd, que decidió hacer un F1 de tracción total, algo ahora prohibido. El coche no podía ser más feo e iba a debutar en el G.P. de Gran Bretaña de 1969… pero el proyecto se canceló. Unas fuentes dicen que el motivo es que Herd se fue a March y otras que el coche iba rematadamente mal… pero mi opinión es que ambas no son excluyentes… seguramente ambas son ciertas. La conclusión es breve, muy breve: La buena noticia es que Cosworth sigue viva y coleando. Una buena noticia para una empresa que es historia viva de la F1.

El Renault 8TS en España fue todo un referente. Para muchos, entre los que me incluyo, se podría decir que fue el primer GTi. ¿Por qué? Era una versión deportiva derivada del utilitario R8, fiable, práctico, atractivo y con un comportamiento deportivo muy destacable. En este video, te contamos todos los detalles y además contamos con nuestro “Consultorio Clásico” con Jaime Sánchez de “Seat en rodaje” como protagonista… menudo lujo. Hay que reconocer que en su momento el R8 era un referente, sobre todo en España. En Francia se había presentado en 1962 y en España 1965 y se vendió hasta 1976, nada menos que 11 años. Y, seamos honestos, frente a su competencia, los Seat 850 y Simca 1.000, ofrecía un nivel de calidad claramente superior. El R8 fue sustituido por el R5, con motor y tracción delantera, un modelo claramente más moderno. Fue el último de su especie, pero ¿de qué especie hablamos? En Francia el preparador especialista en Renault, Gordini, ya se incorpora a la fábrica para hacer modelos deportivos sobre los ya existentes. Así nace el R8 Gordini, un R8 con motor 1.108 cm3 en vez de 956 cm3. Con 77 CV y menos de 900 kg, era un coche muy deportivo para la época… pero caro y hasta cierto punto complicado por su carburación. A la vista de este problema Renault toma una decisión muy inteligente. Por un lado, se produce una huida “hacia adelante” presentando un nuevo R8 Gordini, pero de 1.255 cm3 y nada menos que 88 CV gracias a 2 carburadores dobles. Pero al mismo tiempo lanza el R8 S, de Sport, una versión civilizada del Gordini, de la misma cilindrada, pero de solo 51 CV, mucho más económico y sencillo y con una carburación que no daba problema alguno. El coche fue un éxito. Tanto que Renault en España pensó… ¿y si lo lanzamos aquí? Dicho y hecho: el motor de 1.108 cm3 con Weber 32 y un escape con un sonido bonito e inconfundible conseguía 56 CV frente a los 41 del modelo básico de 956 cm3… hablamos de una mejora del ¡¡¡36 por ciento!!! Un coche con una relación peso/potencia en torno a los 13 kg por caballo y una velocidad punta superior a 145 km/h era un verdadero “tiro”. Pues sí, porque el TS funcionó muy bien como “motor de imagen”, una expresión de mercadotecnia, o de marketing que se dice ahora, que se refiere a versiones que no es que se vendan bien, sino que se hace que se vendan bien otras inferiores. En esto también tuvo mucho que ver la competición… El R8 TS aportaba mejoras objetivas, pero también subjetivas. Por ejemplo, la estética, pues los colores más habituales, azul Francia, amarillo y naranja, le sentaban fenomenal y lo convertían en un coche joven y deportivo. La combinación de los 4 faros delanteros, con dos centrales de largo alcance, con ese ángulo en el morro, le concedían un aspecto agresivo… a lo que colaboraba el inconfundible sonido que salía de su escape, propio de un coche de más “caché”. Y siguiendo con lo subjetivo: Te subías al coche y ese volante y ese salpicadero, “salpicado” nunca mejor dicho de un montón de relojes… lo convertían en un coche muy deportivo. Hasta aquí los subjetivo. Vamos a lo objetivo. En recta, el R8 TS era un tiro. A pesar de sus tambores traseros, que en el R8S francés eran discos, gracias a su bajo peso el R8 TS frenaba bien, muy bien. El cambio era agradable y rápido de utilizar, pero lo mejor era el motor, como diría mi padre “alegre”; que subía rápido de vueltas, pero tenía buenos bajos… un motor perfecto porque además era fiable y económico de consumo. Hablemos de estabilidad. Pero no lo hagamos con la perspectiva actual, porque diríamos que era un peligro. Y no era así. El R8 era una mejora clara del Dauphine, que en España algunos llamaron “fabricante de viudas” y era mejor que el Seat 850 y al nivel del Simca 1000. Vamos a dar un “empujón” a los monográficos y a las comparativas Vintage así que ahora os pongo la “pelota” en vuestro tejado: ¿Cuál queréis que sea el próximo? O la próxima comparativa… tengo algunas ideas, pero espero vuestras sugerencias.

Las ventas de coches usados siguen creciendo. ¿El motivo? Hay muchos, pero voy a destacar tres: El primero, sin duda, el precio. Segundo, la incertidumbre sobre lo que va a pasar en el futuro, especialmente con la normativa. Tercero, poder aspirar a tener un coche mejor, más grande o más Premium. Estos son los 10 coches usados más buscados. Antes de comenzar, os recuerdo que en este vídeo tenemos nuestro habitual “Consultorio Clásico” mensual, con Jaime Sánchez de “Seat en Rodaje”. En un estudio reciente se comentaba como el Seat Ibiza térmico había subido más de un 5 por ciento anual. Pero es que se estima que la subida media de los coches se acerca al 50 por ciento. Y este argumento del precio, como decía, enlaza con el siguiente: La incertidumbre. Comprar un coche eléctrico es caro, pero ofrece ventajas, y surge la duda, ¿se mantendrán esas ventajas en el futuro? Y este argumento enlaza finalmente con el tercero: ¿Y si en vez de un carísimo coche eléctrico o hibrido de gama media me compra un coche Premium con unos añitos? Una buena opción. Y la prueba de ello es que entre los coches usados más deseados la mayoría son Premium… o lo que algunos llamas semi-Premium, caso del VW Golf. Y es que realmente es una opción, comprar coches en buen estado y con unos añitos encima, pero buenos coches bien mantenidos y con mucha vida por delante… te van a dar más por tu dinero. Además, hay un cuarto aspecto a considerar: A lo mejor un coche “convencional” de entre 5 y 10 años tiene más vida útil que un eléctrico nuevo… 1. Audi A3. Tercera Generación (2012) En el entorno de 10.000 € puedes encontrar muchas versiones de este A3, muchos de ellos con poco más de 100.000 km, es decir, con mucha vida por delante. 2. Audi Q5. Primera Generación (2008) Hablemos de precios: Los 2.0 litros y-o TDi, según versión, año y kilómetros, los hay desde no mucho más de 10.000 € hasta menos de 20.000 €. 3. BMW Serie 3. Cuarta Generación (1997) Marca Premium, coches codiciados y bien hechos… todo esto parece sinónimo de caros. ¡Pues te equivocas! Los puedes encontrará por debajo de 10.000 € e incluso, si te conformas con un 318 claramente por debajo de los 5.000 €. Para mí, muy recomendable el poderoso 3 litros TD de 204 CV y para mí, más aún el 325 de gasolina y 192 CV. 4. BMW Serie 5. Cuarta Generación (1995) Casi todo lo dicho del Serie 3 se puede decir del Serie 5, solo que es más grande y más coche. Hay oportunidades con modelos de la Quinta Generación, la E60 de 2003, y siguen siendo muy cotizados los E34 fabricado entre 1988 y 1996, precioso. 5. Ford Focus. Cuarta Generación. (2018). Quería meter un coche moderno y es que por 10.000 € te puedes comprar un Ford Focus con 3 o 4 años con motor 1.5 Ecoblue de 120 CV y muy bien equipados. Una buena opción. 6. Mercedes Benz Clase A. Tercera Generación (2012) Puedes encontrar Mercedes Clase A de generaciones anteriores a precios de risa… y están bien hechos. Pero a mí no me gustan, el Clase A me comienza a gustar con la más tradicional tercera Generación a partir de 2012. Son coches de muy buena calidad y que ya se encuentran en sus versiones razonables a precio interesantes, cercanos a los 10.000 €. 7. Mercedes Benz Clase E. Segunda Generación (1995) Tengo un amigo que a uno de estos coches le ha hecho… ¡más de 500.000 km! Mis favoritos son el más sencillo de todos, el 200, un 2 litros gasolina de 136 CV, o el 230 un 2,3 litros gasolina de 150 CV. Suficientes, durísimos y baratos. ¡Y los encuentras por menos de 5.000 €! Hay versiones Diesel para aburrir, casi todas con turbo… en coches de esta edad, prefiero un gasolina atmosférico. 8. Seat León MKI (1999) ¡Por fin se le ha hecho justicia a este modelo! No me voy a enrollar mucho pues recientemente hemos hecho un vídeo monográfico sobre este coche titulado “Seat León MKI, ¿el mejor Seat?” ¿Te parece exagerado? Echa un ojo al vídeo. Son coches que se han revalorizado mucho, pero que aún encuentras por debajo de 10.000 € y a veces, cerca de los 5.000 € según la versión. 9. Toyota RAV4. Tercera Generación (2006) He visto uno en concreto, un 2.0 de 152 CV, acabado Executive, con 90.000 km, todas las revisiones en concesionario y por 10.000 €… incluso he llamado y he hecho números… a lo mejor os doy una sorpresa 10. VW Golf. Quita Generación (2003) El rey del mercado de segunda mano, si vendes uno, un cheque al portador. La Primera Generación ha subido de forma desorbitada, si es GTi ni te cuento, lo está haciendo la Segunda y también la los MK3 y MKIV. Como coche para usar, creo que la Quinta, que va del 2003 al 2008, es la mejor, incluso la Sexta. Son coches que vas a encontrar, según motorización, versión y kilómetros, entre algo menos de 5.000 € y algo más de 10.000 €. Siempre que no sean GTi.
