Pratima Aravabhoomi of Craft Street Design has always been inspired and encouraged by printed quotes in her home and after a particularly hard time in her life decided to build a business to share the transformative power of words to spread kindness and love.   She started out selling her prints in person at small local yoga shops but knew that she needed to sell online in order to scale and grow the business. She sells on Etsy, Amazon Handmade, and her own website. Her business grew even more when she added Facebook Ads to the mix!   Find the full show notes for this episode here: https://brilliantbusinessmoms.com/episode217

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is the Founder + Designer of a brilliant company called Craft Street Design She 100% turned her life around to create a 6 figure business in 6 months designing quotes to hang in your house. And now she is on a mission to help us all achieve our goals, be happy, and pass on the inspiration to everyone around the world through her designs. And I think it is the truth to say that she needed this inspiration before everyone else, and the message needed to be learnt before she could ever start to give back to the world. As she says "A few years back I was making six-figure income, was working for my dream company (Apple) and had a flexible work schedule. In spite of all this, I was miserable. To make things worse one day, my 10 yr old daughter said, “ Mommy you are just not nice when you come back from your job”. That was a wake up call. I wanted to make a change. I wanted to be happy. I wanted to be a good mom. But I didn't know how." So how do you do this? How do you find the light to move through a bad arranged marriage, a life that wasn't making you happy to the point of suicidal thoughts, and no clue as to the future. Well today's guest found that route through five words on her kitchen wall, and that is the perfect point to start today's episode of Join Up Dots. So is Craft Street Design the business she has always wanted to have, or just another dot towards the big deam that is waiting for her? And why is it that we all allow ourselves to feel such despair when the world is literally screaming "Here is the future....do you want it or not??" all around us? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Pratima Aravabhoomi Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Pratima Aravabhoomi such as: Why Donald trump might just be the kind of leader that the country was waiting for, although he might just well be the worst too. How she created her first business, and the dramatic fail of of not making one single sale of the product. Pratima shared openly how she would balance her time with her daughter, and the measures she takes to ensure she enjoys her life away from her business and lastly…. The hustle, and persistence it takes to start any business off, which frightens so many people away from creating their dream-lives.

I was introduced to Pratima Aravabhoomi’s work when I received a gift in the mail (in the actual mail, not email - there’s a difference!) from her company Craft Street Design. It was a piece of wall art with a quote by Francis of Assissi. The quote >> “Start by doing what’s necessary. Then do what’s possible. Suddenly you’re doing the impossible.” I’m pumped to share my chat with Pratima with you. Not only do we dive into how Pratima launched her business, we explore her childhood in India, her move to the American South and arranged marriage, her taboo divorce, not fitting in at Apple, and so much more! Other hot topics we dive into: Pinterist ads Facebook ads Influencer marketing Email marketing Coming up with new product ideas In today’s distracted, high-tech world, I love to stay grounded by touching “real things” and Pratima’s work really speaks to me. Spend a little time getting present with us. I know you will be inspired. About Our Guest Pratima Aravabhoomi is a designer and founder of CraftStreetDesign.com.  She transforms kind, thoughtful, and meaningful words into delightful designs. I’m Pratima Aravabhoomi, pronounced pruh-TEE-muh AH-ruh-VAH-BHOO-mee, a former Apple consultant who designs meaningful quotes into stylishly simple wall art. Inspired by the moment that changed my life, I couldn’t help but wonder if meaningful quotes had the same effect on other people as it had on mine. I researched and found that many successful people like Oprah Winfrey had surrounded themselves with meaningful quotes to focus on the important things in their lives. Based on design principles I learned at Apple, I started experimenting with typography, calligraphy, and hand lettering to create deceptively simple designs. Starting from hundreds of concept sketches and with meticulous attention to detail she perfects each design to preserve the authenticity of the message. “I truly believe If not for the five words on my kitchen wall ‘darkest hour is before dawn’, I might have ended my life. And because of how incredibly helpful this quote was for me in my darkest times, I started to collect motivational quotes. I started to use them as reminders, as focus points, as inspiration to achieve my dreams on a daily basis. I wanted to do the same for others. That is how Craft Street Design was born" https://craftstreetdesign.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
